See here for Nightmare Fuel, which has frequent enough problems to deserve a thread of its own.
A while ago, I made a thread for cleaning up Nightmare Fuel pages, since they tend to attract all sorts of gushing about anything vaguely unsettling, as well as violations of Example Indentation and the Spoiler Policy among other problems. Well, other Moments pages have similar issues, though to a slightly lesser extent, so they may as well have a cleanup thread too.
"Moments" reactions should:
- Be free of spoiler tags, in accordance with the Spoilers Off policy which states that:
Fridge, Headscratchers, and the various Moments subpages (Tear Jerker, Moment of Awesome, etc.) are for post-viewing discussions. Spoiler tagging there defeats the purpose of the articles. You shouldn't be going there if you are worried about them.
- Be based on things that actually have happened, not things that could happen, will happen, or might have happened. Speculation belongs only on the Wild Mass Guessing pages.
- Have affected the writer of the entry themselves. If you don't find something funny or sad, let someone who did add it to Funny Moments or Tear Jerker.
- Elicit a strong reaction. Not every single time a character accomplishes something is an Awesome Moment, not every attempt at comedy is a Funny Moment, not every time someone does something nice is a Heartwarming Moment, and not every unhappy event is a Tear Jerker.
- Explain why they're so awesome/funny/sad: Zero Context Examples aren't allowed on this wiki. Your description should allow anyone to understand your reaction.

Funny.Miitopia has this thing as the very first example:
- If you activate Spotpass, the game will automatically fill in some of the NPC roles. This can lead to some very out of character moments for certain characters, such as Hank Hill and Yuno Gasai together as the lovey-dovey couple.
- The Dark Lord can be played by Bill Trinen, Mrs. Godfrey, or Nigel Thornberry. Rather he be played by the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne? Who's stopping you?!
- This person's choice of the Princess of Greenhorne.
- Put simply, the game can be as hilarious as you want it to be since you have full control of almost every character in the game. If you want you can have Sakaki as a cat try to seal away the evil genie Ganondorf. You can have Urd, Belldandy, and Skuld as the Fab Fairies dancing with the Mario Bros. And even have Heavy as the king of Greenhorne kick Lord Farquaad to the curb in favor of Moe Szyslak. The possibilities are nigh endless.
- One troper put Trusty Patches as her Dark Lord. Imagining his doom and gloom dialogue in that sniveling, sinister voice is hysterical.
- Or you can just be extremely lazy and make every single Mii in the game as the exact same person. Course, if said person is someone like Weegee as he has a stare that can turn a person into a clone of him, or a Mii based off a character with replicating abilities like Ditto or duplicating abilities in their homecanon, it actually makes sense...
- Or even making an entire game world out of different Ricks and Morties, which correlates perfectly with their show's canon.
- Since the game doesn't differentiate Miis by age, it's possible for the Sassy Child to be automatically played by a Mii with gray hair or even a beard.
- Or Batman.
- Another troper had Stingy as the Dark Lord. "ALL YOUR FACES ARE MIIIIINE!"
- As one person put it, it's the best Crack Fic generator he's ever seen.
- A third troper put SCP-999 as her dark lord. This one speaks for itself.
- Sometimes, your party members can act almost exactly like the character they're based on without you intending them to do so, such as Sans deciding not to attack because he was being lazy.
I've bolded the more concerning parts. Seriously, they almost look like first-person (or do they really?), even though the game was released in 2016 (Japan only).

he/himIt has been custom-titled, but using the Namespace.WorkName way of linking to a page overrides the custom title.
Yeah you can comment those out/delete them.
That list has some pretty awful natter, I don't even know what I can do about it.
I think the best solution would be to cut all of the bullet points and rewrite the initial entry as something more general that explains there's potential funny in random pop culture characters being in roles that don't suit them. There's far too many possibilities to list them all individually, and all of the bullets pretty much boil down to "So-and-So is X, but in this game they can be Y! Isn't that wacky?"
A few questionable entries on TearJerker.Rugrats:
- While the episode was intended as Nightmare Fuel, "The Mysterious Mr. Friend" is one of the most depressing episodes in the series if you stop to think about it. This toy clown named Mr. Friend merely wants to play with Tommy and his buddies, but creeps them out unintentionally, and he doesn't know better. The poor guy ends up killed in the end. Uh, he's not sentient.
- The Flowers for Algernon Whole-Plot Reference episode where Chuckie gets an experimental treatment to get rid of his allergies only to have them come back. As someone with seasonal allergies myself, it's really not that bad.
- "If you stop and think about it" is the definition of Fridge Logic. So, it's not an example on those grounds.
- Well, speaking as someone with allergies, medication initially seeming to work only for it to end up not working is just life.
Did we ever reach official consensus on whether Funny, Awesome, & Heartwarming examples can be listed on YMMV pages? Cause it seems no one can agree on it.
Personally I think it's fine. Funny/Heartwarming/Awesome pages with one example get cut all the time and then sent onto the YMMV page if applicable.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Yeah, using the YMMV for a small amount of examples that would just create a stub if put on a separate page seems like the natural thing to do to me.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Yeah, I've never seen the point of excluding certain Moments/ pages from YMMV solely because of their namespaces. If Shocking, TJ, and NF are acceptable, Awesome, Funny, and Heartwarming should be too.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessRegarding Awesome.South Park, is it allowed for characters to have their own Awesome subpages?
Organizing moments by character is just a bad idea in general, most of the time. It's much better to sort them by episode.
I was JUST ABOUT to bring that page up. Also there is natter that is dialogue between tropers in that page.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Found one from YMMV.Bambi Meets Godzilla; this one should be cut because it's Played for Laughs.
- Tear Jerker: If you really love Bambi.
It has been stomped.

I'd like to apologize for all this.Awesome.Thirty Hs seems to be listing funny moments instead of awesome moments.
For every low there is a high.Kill it.
back lolOrganized by episode/chapter, chronological as much as possible. Simplest and easiest way to do it.
The only exception I've ever run into is non-linear video games, in which case organizing by character can occasionally be a better option.
Everything on that page is a Zero-Context Example.
Thirty Hs is a tough call since with a Memetic Mutation-heavy work like that the Awesome and Funny have a lot of overlap, and also there's not a lot of substance to Thirty Hs so I don't really know how to fix the ZCE problem.
...Let's open a can of Flame Bait and talk about the opening bullet point on the Heartwarming page for The Last of Us Part II:
"Meta: Just the mere fact that we FINALLY have a huge AAA game with an LGBTQ protagonist is cause enough for celebration. But even better is the fact that this game strongly averts Bury Your Gays with all of the LGBTQ characters surviving until the end contrary to a lot of popular media, and it includes a prominent trans character played by an actual trans actor. Even if some people took issue with how some of those characters were handled, it's difficult to argue that nevertheless it's a huge step forward in representation for gaming as a whole. Even better is the fact that it came out during Pride Month."
I'm not certain what the current policy is on meta examples in Moments pages, but this just seems like meta gushing, isn't it? Also, given that the LGBTQ representation did get some criticism from the LGBTQ community, I'm not certain this should be elevated to the top of the Heartwarming page. Also, there's a lot of references (here and on TLOU PII YMMV) to stuff happening in Pride Month like that makes a difference at all. I imagine that this has stuck around as long as it has only 'cause no one wants to kick the hornet's nest that is TLOU PII and come off looking like a homophobic troll.
Also this is written like an Awesome example, not a Heartwarming.

(they/them)Is Speculative Troping allowed on Moments pages? Because I spotted the following entry on TearJerker.Helluva Boss:
- The necklace that Tilla is wearing in the picture is the same one that Blitzo has. Depending on what happened, this could be a Tragic Keepsake.
"Depending on what happened" sounds speculative IMO. What should I do?
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallThat’s definitely just speculation, and arguably no different than Fridge. Cut it.
back lolThanks, I've cut the example.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallTearJerker.Cuphead has three examples, two of which are Played for Laughs (there was another one that was cut without consensus for the same reason). The last one (the Bad Ending music) is also a stretch. Should we cut the page?
I'd like to apologize for all this.
It hasn't been custom titled yet.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.
