This thread is a metathread for Trope Repair Shop discussion. Things like TRS policy, what is needed in a TRS opening post, questions about whether a certain topic is TRS-worthy and questions about why a thread wasn't opened go here.
Some guidelines for when/whether to use TRS:
- If the trope is fine, but has some bad examples, feel free to clean them up or to start a cleanup project at Projects: Short-Term
. Trope Repair Shop is for when cleaning isn't sufficient.
- If you think there's something wrong with the trope that systematically attracts improper examples, start a discussion at Trope Talk. Use a Wick Check to see whether there's an issue present (and if there is, what the issue is), and post the results on TRS Queue and wait your turn if a problem is present. The following methods are two possible ways to do a wick check (though not necessarily the only ways):
- You can go ahead with the Wick Check without a discussion if you know what you're looking for. While it's not mandatory, feel free to ask someone for help confirming that you got the issue and the numbers correct.
- Consult the Wick Check Project thread to collect evidence if you need help.
- If a wick check is too much for you, you can leave the issue at Tropes Needing TRS citing the discussion.
- Depending on a trope (or non-trope) in question, a wick check may be determined to not be required, such as for tropes that are not thriving (per the standards for trope health listed on the Wick page). However, there is no problem if you want to do one anyway.

I figured I might as well address how to handle cases of TRS Queue entries that depend on another Queue entry since I launched Transgender Fetishization's thread early due to it being determined to be relevant to Everybody Wants the Hermaphrodite's thread.
I've previously mentioned being willing to bring Broken Aesop's thread back from the Morgue after the issues with An Aesop are sorted out, with that also being the reason Clueless Aesop's thread is on hold, but I'm hesitant to launch An Aesop's thread early because that trope has a five-digit wick count and Broken Aesop has a four-digit wick count (Clueless Aesop's three-digit wick count is lower than what some current threads started with, but still higher than the two threads mentioned at the beginning of this post), while both Transgender Fetishization and Everybody Wants the Hermaphrodite have wick counts in the low triple-digit range, meaning their slots won't take nearly as long to free up as the ones for the Aesop tropes unless unless there end up being problems that weren't noticed sooner (which did happen with For Want Of A Nail's thread, but most other currently open threads didn't have that happen).
Edit: Oh, and as a side note/tangent, all of these threads make me wish mods still had the ability to hook a single crowner to multiple threads, like what happened with the threads for Relationship Writing Fumble and Designated Love Interest, but that feature was removed when the crowner system was overhauled in late 2021.

Since Incorruptible Pure Pureness is being discussed in TRS, I think Guile Hero deserves a mention here too due to have a similiar issue. Guile Hero is supposed to be Evil Counterpart of Magnificent Bastard, but is not labeled as YMMV like the latter.

Nah, I believe this is an objective trope. It literally just means a Hero who uses wits, politics, or even manipulation for good. I don't see how this is YMMV.
agree. also Guile Hero's description does not call itself as the counterpart to Manipulative Bastard (not least of which because being the hero means it can't be the Evil Counterpart). It does say it could be a good analog to it (i.e. comparable) and that it combines aspects of both Manipulative Bastard and The Chessmaster. But "shares some similarities" =/= antithesis.

I completed Sandbox.Sapient Cetaceans Wick Check with help from Yindee and Nitro Indigo (trope link), but something interesting happened.
There was misuse, but 12/50 were strictly misuse compared to 13/50 correct. 22/50 were zero-context or unclear.
Since I think the name may not be clear enough, is this enough of an argument for a rename? If not, could anything actually be done here?

Hmm, you may be right. I started the check a while back and hadn't touched it in a while—maybe I misread the description of the trope.

Just letting everyone know that we're temporarily at 51 threads because Transgender Fetishization's thread was launched early because of issues related to it that were brought up in Everybody Wants the Hermaphrodite's thread, and this seemed like the easiest way to prevent an impasse in the latter thread.
