This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

The quote just got deleted anyway... I'm not entirely sure how we can illustrate it through text.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.I changed the quote on Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy, as proposed here.
Let's just say and leave it at that.[ignore]

The quotes for Honorable Elephant and its source Horton Hatches the Egg only differ by one word.
The quote for the Horton page seems better-written.
I have two ideas for a quote for Eat Me. One is the introductory text:
You know what's next. It's what happened. An offer, something sweet, something simple, and you swallowed. Children are such trusting people. What you ate grew into a hole deeper than mere hunger: it swallowed you. Now, just as you were served, you shall be served again.
My other idea is:
Thoughts?
Would this work for NoRealLife.Too Common, or is there something better for one of the other tropes?
- Most people have met someone like this.— From the (now cut) Real Life section of Extreme DoormatThis is much more common in Real Life than it is in fiction. In real life, this often happens for fairly simple reasons. It's fairly common amongst some families who have arrived in a new country.— From Multiethnic NameThis plot has happened to FAR too many real travelers to entertain the idea of listing even a fraction of the Real Life examples.— From "Stuck at the Airport" Plot
- Although the stories have been exaggerated, a few truly bizarre incidents have occurred inside the Bermuda Triangle.— From the (now cut) Real Life section of The Bermuda TriangleNaturally averted.— From the (now cut) Real Life section of Do Not Touch the Funnel CloudThis trope is Truth in Television - sort of.— From the (now cut) Real Life section of Magical Native American
EDIT: Shortened the Extreme Doormat quote, and added two more suggestions...

I'm back!For "Impossible", I like "Naturally averted."
SoundCloudCan we swap out the quote for Merchandise-Driven since both the image and quote are about Transformers? My personal favorite is the Entertainment Weekly Jurassic Park 3 one.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I think that’s a good one

Any more thoughts on my suggestion for The Apocalypse Brings Out the Best in People?
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢So anyway: I notice that Dark Lord on Life Support doesn't have a page quote. Or rather, it did, but then it was inevitably replaced with a trite Warhammer quote about God Emperors, then removed after a lengthy debate. There's a bunch in the quotes tab, plus others probably we haven't thought of. Care to take a whack at this?
Edited by taylorswiftscat on Nov 7th 2020 at 7:56:34 AM
The majority of them on the Quotes page are either way too long, or establish the "life support" part but miss the "dark lord" part, or both.
The Outlast one is probably the best of the lot, but it's still not great.

~Purple Eyed Guma After pulling the quote on Jock Dad, Nerd Son, you forgot to remove it as a quote source. Already pulled it, but just as a reminder for next time.
Also, I'm sorry if I wasn't clear enough, but I wasn't telling you to remove the quote from Honorable Elephant. I think that quote is good and instead we could find a different page quote for Horton Hatches the Egg, so I've reverted your edit.

I assume this thread has settled on a word count limit for page quotes? Sounds like something which would have come up in the past.
Really sorry about all this. Next time I’ll think twice before changing or removing quotes.
Anyone else think the current quote on Losing Your Head is complete gibberish?
It used to be this:
(For its owner dead was he),
It stood on its neck, with a smile well-bred,
And bowed three times to me!"
Before briefly being changed to this:
And then changed again to the current.
Honestly, none of the quotes are particularly good.
Maybe something from Voltaire's "The Headless Waltz"?
- Please, sir! For me, Sir!
Won't you see if you see sir?
Oh dear, I dread I seem to have lost my head
I think I left it about...
It fell to the ground and I kicked it around
Has anyone seen? No need to be mean
My bloody fat ugly head

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThe current in Fame Through Infamy is alright but requires context that the bottom has to provide rather then the quote itself. Could we change to this from warhammer which is in the quote itself and gets the point across better.
I think the original quote is fine (the trope is about non-fatal decapitation), but works too. Maybe take off the first two lines.
Edited by Twiddler on Nov 8th 2020 at 3:53:54 AM
I mean, I just can't really understand the original quote tbh
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSo my suggestion for Fame Through Infamy. Any thoughts on it ?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I like it.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThe quote on Zerg Rush is honestly too generic to illustrate the trope.
I'd suggest a much more inspired one, from this trip of Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic.
Crown Description:
What should be the page quote for Monster.Fan Works?
Seems like the perfect trope to have a before and after shot.
