This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

Some user added this:
I replaced it with
The initial one is a character insulting the main characters of this comic (and the scene is not even from this specific comic, but from another one). In-story it was a reaction to something they did that unexpectedly involved him (as in What the Hell, Hero?), but without the context they seem like mere insults. It may work as a meme, but as the main quote it's just flame bait.
The second one, on the other hand, is a brief summary of the main topic of the comic book: the conflict between humans and mutants, and the attempts of the X-Men to prevent an escalation to the conflict.
The initial poster then restored the first one, pointing that a replacement must be discussed and approved first.
Ultimate Secret WarsI just changed the page quote for Balance Between Good and Evil. If you have any feedback or a different suggestion, I've started a discussion thread over there.

The new quote's much better.
The quote on The Alcatraz is more of a Badass Boast than an indication of the prison's incapability. I suggest moving the page quote from Escape from New York to The Alcatraz, at least if there's a suitable replacement quote for Escape From New York. Perhaps this one:

You said to remove the quote on The Alcatraz, move the quote from Escape from New York to The Alcatraz, and add the proposed quote to Escape from New York. I support that.
Note that Quotes. The Alcatraz already had the Film.Escape From New York page quote, so it'll need to be be removed from there.

Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I want to make a request to exchange page-quotes from one page to another and vice versa...
I am editing the Spider-Man Sub-Pages for the last few weeks. Recently I noticed that the comic-book page which is supposed to deal with Spider-Man's comics history and many storylines and so on has a page-quote that are the lyrics of his Classic Spider-Man Theme Song, while the Franchise page-quote has Stan Lee's exact quotes from Amazing Fantasy #15. I want to exchange the quotes from the other way since I think Spidey's iconic theme song is more fitting for the overall franchise and its adaptations and brand, while "Great Power" ties into the character from the comics especially since the Comics Page has the Cover Art of Amazing Fantasy #15 already there...
I've moved the quotes around.
I just looked at the page quote for Hypocritical Humor, and I honestly don't think it fits at all. I just don't see anything that says hypocritical.
It seems like it was changed without discussion. For the record, here's what the original quote was:
I think the hypocritical part of the Toy Story quote is that Buzz calls Woody a "strange, little man" when he's the one deluded about his nature as a toy. I think the original quote gets the point across much quicker, and shouldn't have been replaced without discussion.
Yeah, I think it needs to be reverted.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportThe quote in Music.Shawn Mendes is... not great. I'm not really fond of him but this is a derogatory quote from a Caustic Critic.
I reverted the quote.
Girls Stare at Scenery, Boys Stare at Girls doesn't have a page quote, but the image caption is a quote, so should it be moved over there? I think the image works fine without a caption.
I generally prefer the page quote and the page image to be from different works. There's three quotes in the examples to choose from, although I think the Avatar quote doesn't provide enough context on its own (the other two do).
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Among those examples, I like the MLP one best. It's short enough and gets the point across, too.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportWould anyone mind if I switch the page quote from Secretly Selfish to the one on the quotes subpage (there's only 1)? The current is fairly long for my liking.
Can I switch the Doraemon quote to this? I feel like it better summarizes the show.
I like your suggestion better, yeah.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Glam Rap has two quotes. I think the first one can go; the second is more concise.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportAlcohol-Induced Idiocy and Crosses the Line Twice both have (almost) the same quote.
I just found a great page quote for the Superhero page, courtesy of a poet on Reddit known as Poem_for_your_sprog:
"Some heroes wear leather.
Some heroes wear hats.
Some heroes wear capes and pretend that they're bats.
Some heroes have powers of speed and of flight -
And some only work in the city at night.
But one of them's endlessly better than these.
He sends us protection, tomatoes and cheese.
He does what he needs to.
He does what he can.
The Pizza Provider.
My god, what a man."
What do ya think? I'd like to add it on to the page (or possibly make a trope page just so it can be used in some form. Also, here's a link to the account that I found it from: https://www.reddit.com/user/Poem_for_your_sprog

The quote we have is fine, no worse than your suggestion. Just put yours on the quote page.
If we changed the quote on Mary Poppins Returns to an excerpt of either "The Place Where Lost Things Go" or "Trip a Little Light Fantastic", what would work? I haven't heard the latter myself yet.
Crown Description:
What should be the page quote for Monster.Fan Works?

Lurker here, and the one who added the old Hey, You! quote.
As much as I enjoyed that Scrubs quote, I'm not sure how well it goes with the trope. My understanding of it was "person addresses someone else who deserves respect in an insulting/disrespectful way". The new quote feels like an overseer addressing his underlings, which doesn't exactly align with the trope...? Am I missing something?
The original quote, for reference, was this:
In the anime dub, an honorific was translated to "Lord" and in hindsight I can see where that could cause clarity problems. Would it be more clear to go with the manga translation, where he adds the "-sama" honorific before deciding to drop it?
Or do we need a new quote altogether?

I feel a storm coming.
