I was actually wondering if the movie would count for being more explicit about sex than other films. Let me try to rewrite it and we'll see if it's an example.
- What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: While still kid-friendly, the film is more overt about puberty and tween sexuality than what's expected, even from Pixar. An early plot point has Mei excitedly doodling shirtless drawings of a seventeen-year-old working at the local mart, which her mother misinterprets as a sign of said teenager having taken advantage of her. There's also the aversion of No Periods, Period, where not only does Mei's mom assume Mei is menstruating (with the Unusual Euphemism of "the red peony has bloomed") and bring her maxi pads, but she also mentions that Mei should "clean" her "petals" regularly. There's also brief references to drugs and "stripper music," both of which are surprisingly explicit for a PG Disney film.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. That sounds good. I'll go and replace the original example with your writeup if you don't mind.
Do the following examples from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish look like they have enough context?:
- Nightmare Fuel: A sickle wielding Big Bad Wolf with glowing red eyes... no thank you.
- Visual Effects of Awesome: Reactions to the updated visual style have been positive, with favorable comparisons to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
I recently did some cleanup on BrickJoke.Video Games. While alphabetizing the page, I came across a few examples that seem to lack necessary context.
First, we have the subbullet for this one:
- In BlazBlue: Chronophantasma, Kagura's match intro has him flirting with a random girl, then when he notices the opposing character, he tosses the girl into the air and begins the fight. A bit funny, yes? Gets better. If he wins the match, he outstretches his arms and the girl lands in them. If he loses, the girl clumsily lands on him. Now, that is funny.
- Oh yeah, GOLDEN TAGER X. Both seen in Tager's gag reels and as Kokonoe's Over-Distort.
I'm not sure if it's an extension to the previous entry or a separate entry.
Then, there's this:
- In Deadly Premonition, the event that foreshadows the identity of the Big Bad is styled like one.
This one is both zero context and violates Weblinks Are Not Examples:
- The ZX Spectrum game Ricochet has a ridiculously long scroller which is notorious for a joke about a yellow brick. Click the link to read it in an online emulator (requires a Java-enabled browser).
Finally, there's this:
- Tales of Graces: Asbel never gets to cleaning his desk. Ever.
These are all currently commented out on the page. If anyone can help, that would be great.
I agree, the cultural conversation on periods is changing where it’s not being seen as taboo or as “gross” like it used to be in different times, but more as something half the population experiences. These elements in Turning Red are not on a par with say, inclusion of violence in a kids’ movie, unless one considers exposing their kids to the process of how bodies work as violence lol.
About the aversions listed on No Periods, Period, it appears they are there because they don’t fit under any of the other Menstruation Tropes. Not all period stories in media are first periods, panic-inducing situations, or instances of PMS-related irritability. Sometimes it is just a girl getting her monthly bill and there’s nothing out of the ordinary about it.
I agree that periods shouldn't be taboo, but for the time being I think they still are. You still rarely see kids' shows address them overtly; I can only think of 6teen and even that episode got banned from the US.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. In the last few years, there have been episodes on Anne with an E and The Babysitters Club 2020 that deal with it. Going further back, Braceface and Blossom also included the topic.
The fact someone can make an article about which shows tackled periods kind of proves the point, though, doesn't it?
(Worst case scenario we could always retool this into, like, a Menstruation Episode trope, but NPP is still a Trope in Aggregate like Nobody Poops.)
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Yeah, we need to not let our own bias influence the examples. Periods are still super taboo- that's changing, but it's still in the transitional phase, it's not not taboo.
And this is getting pretty off topic.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThe Producers has a ton of ZCEs (especially in the folder for the version from The '60s), which is really sad because I love (at least the Sixties version of) that movie. Haven't gotten to commenting them out because there are a lot of them and I don't have a lot of time, but I'm just noting it here in case anyone wants to help.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallHow does one go about properly contextualizing an Original Character example? Obviously just the name won't do, but we're having some difficulty thinking of what other information there is to add other than "... was not in canon and was made up by the author". Which would by definition apply equally to every example and so seems redundant.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Maybe elaborate on their role in the story?
Macron's notes- The '90s: The 1997 remake is this writ large, which is perhaps why it feels more dated than the first series, despite being much newer. The original anime (and manga) just feels timelessly bizarre, even though it leans quite a bit on '70s and '80s pop culture.
The entry doesn't describe how it feels so 90s, nor does it explain how the older series felt timeless.
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!Deltora Quest (which I found while crosswicking) is a dumpster fire of ZCEs.
I found a blatant violation of Weblinks Are Not Examples here:
CowboyBebopAtHisComputer.Anime And Manga
- Elfen Lied when YouTuber Hazel made a video about this series, people on Elfen Lied subreddit pointed some inaccuracies.
Can someone elaborate on the "Grunkle Stan... I trust you." line in TearJerker.Gravity Falls? The entry now doesn't say anything except that.

Apologises a Lot has a lot of these.
No apologies required I assume...
WebOriginal.Radiant Force is an empty stub page, and pretty much none of the tropes on the character subpages have context. What do we do in this case?
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse?Cut list 'em
thanks for getting those
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse?Darkwing Duck has a surprising number of ZC Es for what I'd expect to be a well-maintained page...for a show I never watched and can't fix.
It was made in 2011, so, I'm not shocked at all. I just assume any page made earlier than, like, 2019 is a ZCE / indentation nightmare.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI guess I just assumed it had been...maintained.
Like I said, it's purely a cultural thing.
