YMMV / Ultra Galaxy Fight: New Generation Heroes

Go To

  • Broken Base: The English dub of the series; some find it great while there are others who find it Narm and would rather watch the mini series subbed although the majority agree that Tregear having a British accent fits the character.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Ribut already gained his popularity since his appearance in the Malaysian animation Upin & Ipin, with many clamoring for his live action appearance. The miniseries here seems to take this trope up to eleven with his Establishing Character Moment by saving Ragon, his hyper-comptence in comparison to the New Generation Heroes combined and his strength even almost rivaling that of Tregear. To quote the fallen Ultra:
  • Evil Is Cool: Dark Killer and his evil Ultramen creations are the show's main attraction, even after Ribut's addition to the cast list. Zero and Orb Darkness aside, X and Geed Darkness attracted many fans due to their cool designs, in addition to purplish tribal paint on their face and chest. Geed Darkness even took this trope up to eleven with his striking resemblance to Ultraman Belial.
  • Fridge Brilliance:
    • The inclusion of Dark Lugiel and Etelgar serves as a Foil to Ginga and Victory, in that aside from Ginga and Lugiel being Literal Split Personality, Etelgar fighting Victory may be attributed to the fact that Etelgar was previously meant to have a right arm-changing gimmick into various weapons like Victory's Ultrans, which would make the golden villain as his Evil Counterpart.
    • Tregear ordering the kidnapping of Grigio just to prevent her from forming Gruebe with her brothers is a blatant excuse to include the two to the series, yet one must remember that the brothers would be summoned anyway because "its a gathering of New Generation Heroes" However, one must remember that in the R/B Movie, Grigio was able to erect a barrier strong enough to cancel Tregear's attack, meaning that even if she is still a novice Ultra, bringing Grigio to combat is still a threat for the League of Darkness.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: According to Koichi Sakamoto, Ultra Galaxy Fight: New Generation Heroes surprisingly gets a high viewer rating in worldwide, with majority of these views came from China, which already had a growing fanbase of Ultra Series.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: It is rather hard to take Ribut's Badass Boast against Tregear seriously after the Galaxy Rescue Force voice drama reveals it is just some intimidation tactic taught to him by another member.
  • Memetic Mutation: Grigio is off limits!Explanation
  • Questionable Casting: Mostly as a result of Vocal Dissonance in the English dub.
    • Seriously, long time fans would have expect Lugiel to retain a baritone in the English dub too, but he was switched over with Etelgar instead.
    • And then there's Ribut too; whereas he is portrayed as a youthful warrior in both Upin and Ipin and Galaxy Fight alike, his way of talking in the English dub wouldn't make him out of place with a stereotypical door-to-door salesman in most television shows, or characters in Looney Tunes during the The Golden Age of Animation.
  • Shocking Moments:
    • See it for yourself. Even the crowds went nuts when trailers aired in a specific event in Ultraman Festival 2019.
    • The first appearance of X and Geed Darkness coming out of nowhere also shocked many.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Etelgar getting beaten with Ginga Victory's Wide Zero Shot is somewhat an abrupt way to advance the plot, since he was able to shrug off that same attack in the Ginga S Movie.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Justified as a result of budget constraints; in the middle of fighting Rosso and Blu, Dark-Killer had the chance of absorbing their light energies to create their Darkness warriors too before Grigio knocks him off and recharges her brothers. While they merged into Ruebe and fight against Zero Darkness, Dark-Killer would have taken the time to create their copies and create Grigio's clone too since her energy was drained in the Dark-Killer Zone like Zero but didn't even made it.
  • Unexpected Character:
    • According to Koichi Sakamoto in his interview, Red Kings Generation I and II will appear as well as Peguila.
    • The Televi-Kun magazine even revealed that Zero and Orb Darkness will appear.
    • The appearance of Ultraman Ribut, where he is seen fighting Peguila at the end of the final trailer got everybody caught off guard as Ribut was originally an Ultra who appeared in the eight season of Upin & Ipin during a joint collaboration between the animated series creators Les' Copaque Productions and TsuPro in Malaysia and Indonesia.
