Biting cold, feel your body numbing slowly
Can you hold yourself up on your own?
You tense and shiver all throughout the night
Feeling things you've never known

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Arceus's Wish is an ongoing Pokémon Mystery Dungeon audio drama web series by The Underground Media Group on YouTube.

When Arceus has been attacked by a force of his own creation known as "The Entity" who wants to overthrow him and take over the Pokemon world, he makes a desparate wish for aid to defeat the Entity... summoning a human turned Umbreon named Kyle to the Pokémon world. After meeting a Espeon named Nila, Kyle soon find himself embroiled in an outbreak of reanimated monstrous Pokemon known as Assimilated that threaten the lives of everyone around them. Only Kyle, Nila and a group of friends and Rescue Team members can hope to stand against this threat and save not only the Pokemon world, but the human world as well from certain doom.

The series was originally written as a fanfiction on Wattpad before being rebooted as a Web Series in 2021. This page will mainly cover tropes found in the reboot series.

All episodes to date can be found here.

Spoilers from up to Chapter 2 will be unmarked; but future updates must be marked for spoilers.

Tropes in this adventure include:

  • Darker and Edgier: The Mystery Dungeon games weren't exactly as light fare as it appears on the surface, but the main games in that series didn't have the threat of a zombie apocalypse looming over the protagonists.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Kyle the Umbreon; in fact, he might just be the only hope the Pokemon world has. Dipper the Impidimp may also count as well.
  • Dead All Along: Assimilated Pokémon (with the exception- to date- of Seth); at least according to Glacie.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: The mini-episode Pleada Night suggests that Glacie might actually be this to Glaceon.
  • Hero of Another Story: In his conversation with Kyle, Josh mentions that his father used to be a human as well, but ultimately settled into their new life as a Pokemon, even founding Pleada Village.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Seth the Zangoose throws himself in the way of Alita to protect her from an attack by QOWJDKD (an Assimilated Pidgeot); though he winds up getting wounded and becoming an Assimilated himself.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: How Glacie does away with an Assimilated Tentacool and QOWJDKD via an Icicle Spear attack.
  • Lower-Deck Episode: Chapter 2B- The Phantom Fumble, serves as this for the Pleada Rescue Team's Ghost Catching division.
  • Meat-O-Vision: In the non-canon Mc Nugget Night, a desperate Seth feels his hunger for McDonald's growing that he ends up hallucinating Alita's head as a Big Mac.
Seth: Oh, I'm going to Hell for this.
Chanel: (later at Rescue HQ) ...And then Seth proceeds to eat Alita's f*thwump*ing face!
  • My Self, What Have I Done?: Invoked by Arceus in the beginning of the story reflecting on his folly of letting the Entity rise to power to start with.
Arceus: My greatest mistake yet was allowing Him to come here. Of course; once He got what he wanted, He betrayed me.
  • Never Say "Die": Averted numerous times.
Torke: (to Glacie) You are not going to be murdering anyone tonight!
  • Noodle Incident: In the non-canon meme episode Mc Nugget Night, Seth remarks to Alita that he could get inside the closed Pleada Town McDonald's if he really tried, but he doesn't want another felony charge on his record.
Alita: Felony charge?! What are you talking about?
  • Not Using the "Z" Word: The reanimated Pokemon in the story are explicitly referred to as Assimilated, rather than zombies.
  • Our Zombies Are Different: A mix of Plague Zombies and Technically Living Zombies make up the Assimilated threat.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: The reaction of the crowd in Pleada Village's marketplace when Josh's scream of terror alerts everyone to QOWJDKD's dead body; mixed with Animal Stampede.
  • Super Drowning Skills: When Kyle first ends up in the Pokemon world as an Umbreon, he finds himself struggling to avoid drowning in the water, before eventually being pulled underwater involuntarily.
Narrator: Beating his strange new limbs was all Kyle could do. He had never learned how to swim before, and figured that plunging from the sky into the ocean was not the best way to learn.
  • Tantrum Throwing: After Fiona the Fennekin eavesdrops into Kyle and Josh's private conversation and starts teasing Josh over his feelings on her crush on his brother Dewey, the Oshawott throws his scalchop to the ground in frustration, before realizing what he's done as he picks it back up and then storms off.
  • Unexplained Recovery: When Kyle comes to after the Gengar attack (and his subsequent vision with Arceus and the Entity), the injuries he sustained have suddenly vanished without much explanation. This does not go unnoticed by Torke.
Torke: Wait a minute; (Kyle) wasn't fine a second ago! In fact, he had a huge wound (on his side) right here. Where'd it go?
Oliver: Maybe you just didn't see it right. It could've been mud.
Torke: What do you mean mud? It was this huge bloody purple thing; now it's gone!

Traversing lands so strange yet familiar
That play a part to those you have in your heart
But in the end I still feel as homesick now
As I did from the start
Tell me that we will never be apart~
