EthGoesBoom is a YouTube series based on the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise.

The channel itself was created December 25th, 2013, but didn't start uploading content until January 27th, 2015. While it initially was a gaming channel for Eth, he eventually moved onto Aussie King, his personal gaming channel, while his channel became the In-Universe YouTube channel of Freddy and his friends, also including Candy the Cat.

EthGoesBoom's channel provides examples of:

  • Acting for Two: Eth voices most, if not every character in the series.
  • Anachronic Order: This happens often in the series, while it is usually more linear, the Help Wanted 2 arc of the series was published first, but actually is after the Security Breach arc, which has yet to be shown on the channel.
    • Because of this, pieces of the Security Breach arc are spoiled within this arc, such as it being proven Glitchtrap/The Mimic had been failed to be defeated, and still resides in Freddy's mind.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Most of the animatronics are way nicer than their counterparts in the games.
  • Cerebus Syndrome: The channel started off with the animatronics simply playing games, but moved forward into Story Arc as the years went on.
  • Dark Is Evil: Nightmare itself falls under this, being the leader of the Nightmare Animatronics and a dirty cheater.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Due to the channel starting in Five Nights at Freddy's earlier years, the characters' personalities and traits were very different.
    • Freddy Fazbear himself used to be a a huge jerkass, being the Bad Boss of the group, often abusing his friends, such as when he threw Foxy into the sewers (which indirectly got Foxy decapitated) because the pirate fox clogged the pizzeria's toilets, wanting Foxy to fix what he didnote , or when he attacked Foxy in "If Foxy Was the Phone Guy" simply because Foxy was "helping" the security guard even though Foxy was actually being condescending and sarcastic rather than genuinely helpful. As the series progressed on, Freddy eventually became way nicer.
    • Toy Bonnie had the most drastic changes to his voice out of any of the characters, starting off with a Muppet-like voice, and then a more rockstar-like voice, before getting one similar to Bonnie's. These were actually addressed in story, with Toy Bonnie being revealed to have tried to change his own voice during the FNAF2 plotline. The two previous voices remained in Toy Bonnie's head, occasionally speaking to him, but during the Ultimate Custom Night storyline, they were finally taken out and made the voices for El Chip and Rockstar Bonnie, who lost their original voices due to Plushtrap's machinations.
  • Hostile Show Takeover: The start of the Fazbear Massacre storyline begins with Freddy playing Chipper & Sons Lumber Co., before he is then distracted and attacked. He seemingly returns to the video unharmed, albeit with a distorted voice, but as the video nears its end, the voice shifts to reveal that Springtrap, mimicking Freddy's voice, had killed him and taken over his video.
  • I Call It "Vera": Springtrap's axe, which he uses as his primary weapon, is named Tracy.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Foxy falls under this trope.
  • Nested Story: How the Popgoes arc ends.
  • Pokémon Speak: The various incarnations of the Cupcake are only able to say "I'm a cupcake!" or variations of that phrase (aside from in one SFM video where the main Cupcake says "Chica!" to warn Chica). Likewise, the Pumpkin can only say "I'm a pumpkin!", and the Burger from Five Nights at Candy's can only say "I'm a burger!".
  • Reaction Video: Occasionally, the animatronics react to upcoming announcements, teasers, and trailers for FNAF media, as well as popular fan videos, such as videos in the 5 AM at Freddy's series or the Freddy's Spaghettiria videos by SMG4.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Story Arc: This has occurred under multiple instances (not counting the regular Let's Plays), based on the various games and even some fangames:
    • The Fazbear Massacre revolves around Springtrap escaping the saferoom while Freddy plays Chipper & Sons Lumber Co. and murdering many of the animatronics inside the pizzeria, causing them to become the Phantom Animatronics, even briefly hijacking Freddy's Let's Play when ambushing him. 30 years later, a resistance, led by Golden Freddy, Bonnie, JJ, Toy Freddy, and later Plushtrap arriving to Fazbear's Frights to stop Springtrap.
    • Five Nights at Freddy's 2's adaptation revolves around the events that took place during the week of the titular game, taking place in 1987, serving as a prequel to the rest of the series, showing how The Withered Animatronics met The Toy Animatronics (and eventually befriended them) as well as revealing the origins of JJ and The Purple Guy, who would later become Springtrap.
    • POPGOES also received an adaptation, being so far, the only fangame to get one. The arc revolves around the Fazbear Family playing the titular game, but it's revealed to be a cursed copy which slowly starts infecting the animatronics, either turning them against the crew, or getting them sick. The ending reveals this to be a Nested Story told by Puppet.
    • Help Wanted's adaptation is disguised as a regular Let's Play. However, at the end, it's revealed that Freddy's mind had been infested with Glitchtrap, who had merged with him.
    • Help Wanted 2 is the most recent and ongoing arc of the series. Following where Help Wanted (As well as Security Breach) left off, Glitchtrap continues to cause harm to the bots while they play the game. Glitchtrap eventually takes control of Bonnie and kidnaps Chica.
    • There is an arc planned for Security Breach (and presumably RUIN, its DLC) to bridge the gap inbetween Help Wanted and Help Wanted 2.
    • Word of God states that there were arcs planned for Pizzeria Simulator and Ultimate Custom Night that went unused, which included Golden Freddy turning to villainy in order to get revenge on Springtrap.
      • However, there was a smaller arc with Ultimate Custom Night's teasers, with Plushtrap being pissed about being excluded from Ultimate Custom Night's default roster, and forming an alliance with other excluded characters (such as Candy Cadet, Lolbit, Minireena, and Nightmare Chica). However, he and many of the others in his "Anti-Ultimate Custom Night" alliance later get included in Dee Dee's extra roster of summonable characters, much to his relief and excitement.
  • Toilet Humor: The Pumpkin tends to fart, often to annoy the other Cupcakes.
  • Verbal Tic:
    • Bonnie the Bunny refers to the word "four" as "fowa" due to his inability to say the former, which pisses Foxy off to no end. At one point, Foxy played infamous Screamer Prank "The Maze" with Bonnie constantly spamming "fowa" repeatedly until Foxy encountered the jumpscare at the end of the game.
    • Toy Bonnie developed one of his own with his finalized voice by saying "fwah" instead of "four".
