Maple, better known by her common codename Dokibird, is a Hong Kong/Canadian VTuber. She is a thief, conwoman, and cat burglar who, by agreement, can only rob a bank or museum once a year. As this limits her income, she moonlights as an artist before eventually becoming a VTuber.

She originally debuted in May 2020 before retiring a year later, but she later returned in February 2024. Unlike most other VTubers, and perhaps due to the circumstances behind her return, Doki is pretty open about her time as a corporate VTuber between her 2021 retirement and 2024 return. She mainly streams on YouTube.

Tropes applying to Dokibird herself:

  • The Ace: She is a great Apex Legends player. She has been able to play several good matches, and managed to land top 5 for a tournament. Respawn Entertainment noticed this and had her advertise one of the characters for the game.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: She will laugh at jokes and comments at her expense and she knows it's all in good fun.
Doki: (reads Super Chat) "You're the reason why games have yellow paint". (uncontrollable laughter)
  • Affably Evil: In-Universe, "Dokibird" is her thief identity, and Maple is her real name (at least she thinks so). This also makes her a criminal, albeit a stock one. However, she happens to be quite friendly and her character isn't any more of a criminal than that.
  • Badass Bureaucrat: Not Doki herself, but her new manager after her return. When she was concerned that she was being too harsh, he replied by saying he used to manage xQc.
  • Classy Cat-Burglar: Her overall character. She can only rob a bank or a museum once a year, though, which is why she moonlights as an artist and streamer.
  • Code Name: "Dokibird" is her thief identity. Her real name (at least she thinks it's her real name) is Maple.
  • Cuckoosnarker: Her mischievous personality in a nutshell. Doki is both extremely eccentric and extremely sarcastic at the same time.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: In her Sonic Dreams Collection Let's Play, she satirically claims (on the spot) that you couldn't type a custom name for a character for a video game in the 1990s. Arcade machines — which debuted in the 70s — allowed players to do exactly that, though not with many characters.
  • The Gadfly: Definitely. Her collaborations with friends will have her messing with them at their expense. Special mention towards U-san (who's terrified of horror games), Filian (who didn't know she's a literal Tomato in the Mirror), and her three guy friends playing Helldivers 2.
  • Harmful to Minors: She recalls a story where she watched a lot of South Park as a child, and her parents just let her watch it while she was alone. The movie was coming out at the time, she wanted to see it, but got more than she bargained for when her friend at the time had her parents take her to see the film, with the excuse that it was an animated film. Well, she saw it, was traumatized, and her parents were angry (not at her, but at her friend). Regardless, Doki is still a fan of the series.
  • The Hyena: She has a hearty laugh, and she laughs a lot.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Played for Laughs when she asked Filian to feed her Jeffrey the Tomato when Doki herself is a tomato in a skinsuit.
    Doki: Jeffrey was delicious.
  • Lawyer-Friendly Cameo: Han Byeol and Lloyd Desuyo who appeared alongside Doki and RPR during the "Helldivers 2" Collaboration, has absolutely nothing to do with a certain Serpent-Themed Hololive/Nijisanji FPS Playing Group she was previously a part of.
  • Loophole Abuse: Threefold! It has led to jokes about Ocean Law:
    • She can openly call her fans "Dragoons" because it's the name of an actual military unit and thus is free from copyright.
    • Doki has the trophy as an oshi mark, the same one she used back when she was a corporate VTuber.
    • Her stream intro song for a new introduction is the same royalty-free track that she used as the stream intro song for her former corporate persona.
  • No Sense of Direction: None. During her collab stream with U-San, they get lost repeatedly because they keep finding the entrance and halting their progress. It got to the point that Doki admits they need more than two people for the game.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Virtually no one calls her Maple. She's often referred to by her code name or simply "Doki".
  • Open Secret: Especially considering the circumstances behind her eventual return, Doki is open about her past as a corporate VTuber.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Her expression is always a confident and smug smirk, and she rarely switches out of it.
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: Justified in her case. Despite being a thief, conman, and cat burglar, she agreed with various banks and museums to rob them once a year. This limits her income, so she has to make an honest living on the side and moonlight as an artist (in addition to being a streamer). Indeed, on April 21st, 2021, Doki targeted a bank she had previously robbed within a year, breaking the agreement. As a result, the bank sicced the authorities on her, and she vanished for quite a while.
  • Running Gag:
    • She spent most of her stream of Batman: Arkham Asylum blaming Bruce Wayne for not using his wealth for fixing Gotham's mental health issues.
    • She also spent her time playing Shadow of the Colossus claiming that she's a legal acupuncturist and even has a legal license (spelt "lisence").
  • Signature Laugh: Her hearty cackle, which is likened to a car engine starting up.
  • Smug Smiler: Her default expression. Dokibird is almost always seen with a smug smirk on her face.
  • Take That!:
    • Recalling her interaction with the manager ("Mr. Man" aka professional Apex Legends player Sovereign from XSET), Doki was previously concerned about being too much for him to handle - to which he responded with, "Don't worry, I managed xQc, this is nothing." Doki agreed after the fact.
    • During her Twitch Rivals Palworld stream, she couldn't resist throwing a jab at her previous place of employment and a certain PR statement they made.
Doki: (while watching the "Pals" being overworked to death) We have a healthy work environment. Don't worry guys. Nobody is getting abused I swear. Everybody wants to work for our company.
  • Tomato in the Mirror: Literalness aside, it's subverted in that she knows she's a tomato wearing a skinsuit, and she tells this to those with whom she collabs. One instance is when she dresses down in front of Filian, who's disturbed that she is a walking, talking tomato that will eat other tomatoes.
  • Troll: In her collab stream with U-san in Inside the Backrooms, when they start, she starts whistling which startles them (whistling in the game will attract monsters), which scares U-san. She also tends to steal lockers from them whenever a monster is around, and when she gets attacked by a demonic dog, she tries to warn U-san but they don't believe her. She ends up whistling which causes the demonic dog to attack them. Also, there's a whole compilation of her trolling Filian.
  • The Unmasking: Played for Laughs when she revealed that she is actually a tomato in a skinsuit.
  • Vocal Evolution: Her pre-return voice was far higher and cuter; after her return, she uses the lower, deeper voice like she used between those times.
