- The familiar elements could be outside magic; Kalego creates the familiar binding circle, Iruma just feeds it his blood. And summoning Kalego the first time requires a seal from the school store, possibly already empowered.
- This could also be the case with the forbidden spell, which is said to cause the user's body to explode if miscast. This could indicate that the spell draws in mana from the user's surroundings, which can have a volatile reaction with the user's mana if performed incorrectly.
- Healing the King of the Valley could just be a natural property of human blood, and thus the reason the demons want to eat humans.
- It's possible that human blood either allows demons to absorb mana from the atmosphere, or it stimulates their ability to generate mana, thus either being healed and/or receiving a power boost.
- Considering all the references to Solomon, I figured 2 things: 1) The Demon King has to be a human, and 2) The human must have some magical ability they may not be aware of. While the healing and summon can be contributed to outside interference, the forbidden spell incident had to have been caused by Iruma directly. He may not have a lot of magic ability, but he has enough to at least potentially trigger spells.
- This does not seem likely. In regards to the first point, Delkira, the previous Demon King, is shown In-Universe to be a demon. Second, Iruma explicitly does not have any mana within his body, but he has used verbal incantations to cast spells with his Ring of Power.
- This could be a possible explanation for Iruma’s gigantic appetite. Even in a world governed by Rule of Funny, it is called out that the amount of food he eats is abnormal.
- Humans might have some degree of resistance to magic. Iruma was able to notice one of Kerori's habits while she was wearing her detection-warding glasses, he realized that Purson was still in the room after the latter had erased his presence, and he seemed to find Sheeda familiar in some way, despite all memory of her existence being erased.
- Balam also mentioned to Kalego that there was one student that his Buzzer ability couldn't pick up on, after the former's first meeting with Iruma, which seems to imply that Iruma doesn't set it off like other demons do.
- Connor and Murph are the dragon heads and the angelic part is obvious, that much should be enough, but in chapter 209 she was unusually self-conscious about her wings. Granted, it could be in response to Amerie's (supposedly) beautiful wings but they would add to the Solomon connection.
- A possible historical reconstruction: in ancient times a toon arrived in the Netherworld because of a portal or a Wrong Turn at Albuquerque, and mixed with the population, becoming the ancestor of the Valac family.
- Some violent encounters may have occurred initially, culminating in the hunter-rabbit situation: repeatedly and the toon character was considered as a demon trickster, that was acceptable in the Netherworld.
- And the unusual abilities were seen as a magic lineage.
- The song thing suggests more characters from Toontown: at least a Looney Tunes and a Disney character.
- And the songs have Hollywood Choreography.
- This explains the absurd level of innocence of Clara, measured in Episode 8 of the tv series.
- And her ideas of "sexy tactics".
- The scene of Iruma and Clara playing with hands has a similar scene in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
- As a consequence, some toon characteristics were diffused in a part of the population of the Netherworld: for instance, Sullivan is a powerful demon but he can be... well, a bit screwball.
- Meaning that Baal's ideals to go back to the ancient ways of Netherworld are... well... da*ned? ... screwed?
- Other characteristics will be diluted, like the number of fingers. The offspring of the character, merrily (?) married, acquired horns, saw teeth, and meshed genetically with the population of the Netherworld.
- Some violent encounters may have occurred initially, culminating in the hunter-rabbit situation: repeatedly and the toon character was considered as a demon trickster, that was acceptable in the Netherworld.
- Alternative: may Toontown be originated from the Netherworld? Not so probable.
- Demons are usually nervous or discombobulated by the Valacs.
- Third alternative: Convergent Evolution, like Pinkie Pie in Equestria. Perhaps there are some abstract toon characteristics that try to emerge in every reality.
- They are more compatible with magic universes: Equestria, Netherworld... the version of the Earth in The Mask...
- The demons are experts in magic, but they don't seem to have many scientists, and Iruma is responsible for inventing fireworks for them, something that existed since 11th Century China, but the demons have technology like phones, videogames, and the internet, but no futuristic technology, this is an inversion of E.T. Gave Us Wi-Fi, demons went to the human world and brought their technology and culture to the demon world.
- It's not impossible. Especially given the level of technology they seem to be at. Taking the "Hell phones" used by the cast as an example, they look closer in line to a phone from the early 2000s, with only the ability to send text messages and calls, with no internet access. Unless Iruma's intended to come from an earlier point in time than the manga's beginning, by 2017 (when the series got its start) smartphones should've become widely available in the human world, but seem to not be a thing in the demon world. So it's possible that, due to lack of contact between worlds being limited to a few high-ranking demons, what technology they do borrow from humans comes at a delay.
- It may also have to do with the demons' general reliance on magic over technology. They're a species that has focused on using magic for their everyday needs. So unless it's something like a phone which they don't have magic available to do themselves, they had no real need to spend time inventing new technology, when their pride and livelihood mostly depend on the ability to do spells. So of course, the one place they would end up getting what technology they do have is through humanity.
With the exception of Balam, who literally specializes in researching humans as his field of study, the demon we've seen who's arguably the most fascinated by humans in general is Ameri. There are two things that explain her fascination - the Forbidden Texts in her possession and her father's position as the security chief of the Demon Border Patrol. As we are all well aware, the Forbidden Texts in Ameri's possession are, in reality, volumes of a shoujo manga (known as Hatsukoi Memory) that have made their way to the netherworld. The first thing that comes to mind is, well, how did they even get there? These are human world texts, items considered to be completely mythical to demons. While it is possible for both people and human world objects to cross the border into the netherworld (and vice versa), it's specifically the job of Ameri's father to make sure that this does not happen. While the exact details of Hatsukoi Memory's crossing into the underworld are unknown, there's a more interesting question at play here: How did these texts specifically get into Ameri's possession? Might have they been passed down from her father to her, with Henri strictly warning Ameri not to look at them? Ameri really wants to keep the fact that she's reading the Forbidden Texts a secret from her father, after all. But if that's the case, why would Henri give this order to his own daughter?
Perhaps Henri has his own secret that he wants to be kept from his daughter in order to protect her. As the security chief of Demon Border Patrol, Henri has to deal with frequent attempts at crossing the human world/netherworld border. It's extremely likely, if not almost certain, that he's aware of both the existence of humans and the fact that Iruma is one. Otherwise, Henri wouldn't have suddenly regaled to him the story of a human he met that had crossed into the netherworld - one whom he eventually brought back to the human world...wait a minute, have we ever heard anything about who Ameri's mother is? We're shown the families of multiple prominent characters quite a few times, including Ameri. She really only has just her father, it seems. But she has to have a mother as well, right? Yet we've nary a whiff of an explicit hint at her. Or so we might think, because it's quite possible that her mother is the human that Henri met. We don't know much of the details of this meeting Henri describes besides the fact that they met and that Henri eventually had to return her. As far as I know, it's possible that an entire love story between Henri and the human could've taken place, perhaps beginning with Henri taking interest in a certain manga that the human was reading, which launches a bunch of secret reading sessions between the two that mirror those of Amelie and Iruma's. Maybe they had a baby daughter together, and when the threat of being caught became too great, Henri returned the human to the human world to live out the rest of her life there while he took care of their daughter? (He is the doting, somewhat overprotective father, after all.)
What if Amelie was a hybrid of human and demon, and Henri wishes for that fact to be kept a family secret? And Amelie reading the Forbidden Texts sets her on a path to discover this?
If you'd like more evidence, how about this then: Every demon possesses a pair of large dark draconic wings - this is a constant within the variety of character designs. By that definition, every demon should be able to fly, and with relative ease at that. Well, we've never actually seen Ameri spread her wings. This in itself doesn't mean anything until you bring her more action-focused scenes into the picture. Ameri's fight against a magic beast at Walter Park consisted of her only using her bloodline ability, and one of her actions is to use said ability to jump high into the air before delivering a massive kick to her target. She does the exact same thing during her date with Iruma at a water park, as well. Her bloodline ability has built-in recoil depending on how much it's used, so if you needed to gain height, why not just fly up? Perhaps being a half-human and half-demon gave her defective wings - ones that couldn't be used for flight.
One more piece: According to Clara, demons tend to get easily bored. This makes Amelie's hardworking, determined, and ambitious attitude extremely unusual among demons, as this makes her stand out from the rest of the students. Perhaps these traits that define her so well came from her human side.
- Another thing to note: the few times we see Ameri in an outfit that could show her the wing anchors on her back clearly (like her swimsuit in Ch 94), her hair conspicuously keeps the center of her back covered... except for when Iruma bridal carries her◊, and there are no wing anchors to be seen. Nishi has hidden details in plain sight before too, such as Soi Purson's entire existence, so this kind of twist wouldn't be unprecedented.
- In Chapter 209 we see Ameri's wings. They are perfectly fine and probably as large as Sabro's. So, this theory is possibly jossed.
- Dude's name is literally just the Japanese pronunciation of Delkira backwards. In the anime, they are even voiced by the same voice actor (Shin-ichiro Miki in Japanese, Jalen K. Cassell in English).
- Sullivan states that the Gluttonous Feeder Ring has the ability to store magic, but is not sentient. Delkira might have used the ring to store his consciousness along with his magical power.
- As Iruma goes up in rank, Arikured gains new abilities. It's possible that, by rising to the top of demon society, Iruma is gradually restoring the Demon King to his former glory.'
- This might even be an intentional design by Delkira to test his successor's worthiness.
- Iruma is the only person who can see Arikured's concrete form, and was the only person that heard Delkira's message when the Legendary Leaf bloomed.
- Growing the Legendary Leaf may have even allowed Delkira's consciousness to momentarily return in order to address Iruma.
- In Chapter 277, Baal states that Iruma possesses Delkira's mana, and the only mana Iruma has comes from his ring (and therefore Alikured).
- Either Achievements in Ignorance and they just put a haphazard attempt together cheaply, or perhaps if Iruma is connected to Delkira's reincarnation or blood connection, Sullivan was looking for Iruma and told his parents their actions summoned him. The other thing is that while someone might be a good-for-nothing, that doesn't mean they're stupid.
- Good point. Plus, we still don't who they are exactly other than they horribly abused Iruma his entire life.
- Iruma's height is average for a Japanese boy his age, and only looks short when compared to the very tall demons.
- Official databook has his height at 5'2". That's definitely shorter than average.
- It would be even sweeter if they end up having lost all the money they had received from Sullivan and be living in poverty by the time Iruma meets them again, and Iruma decides to help them one last time before definitively severing all ties with them.
- Keen readers will also note that Evil Cycle Irumi in the Evidol Games was wearing a suspiciously similar outfit and hairstyle to Delkira in all of the flashbacks.
- Considering how callous and self-centered Iruma’s parents are, it wouldn’t be surprising if one or both of them turn out to have a demon or two in their family trees.
- It’s also not impossible that Iruma’s parents kidnapped him, but this is unlikely, since their cameos in the anime show that their hair is blue like his.
Kerori (who is Chima's older sister, by the way) tells Iruma that Gyari sees her as more of an object of her adoration than anything else, which is part of the reason why she absolutely can't be with her. When we learn about Gyari, we find that she essentially completely changes herself after falling for Kerori, becoming an idol in order to chase after her. Chima more or less does the same thing after falling for Iruma, deciding to go to Babyls Demon School, doing her best to impress him, and taking every opportunity she can to show her affection.
I'm worried because I don't exactly see her winning Iruma over (like at all), and I shudder to think of how she'll react or what she'll become upon losing.
- While Chima may start at this point, one thing to take into account is Iruma is not Kerori. He is a Magnetic Hero who is slowly developing into being a nexus of his part of the demon world. As Sullivan said, if the Demon King tells the people to move in a new direction, they will. Like that, Iruma wanted his friends to help save kids at Walter Park, they did. He gave a declaration of Soi's return despite no evidence to it, and he was believed by his fellow Misfits. So, while Chima may be acting like Gyari, he will help Chima off that obsessive path into a better one, and likely without meaning to.
- Yeah, that's the much more likely possibility, actually—whenever Iruma realizes what love is, he'll be able to easily tell the difference between it and obsession, having seen the relationship Kerori and Gyari made for themselves. There are exactly two moments where Iruma is reminded that he's interacting with demons: when Kirio reveals what he's really like to him, AND when Kerori reveals that she wants Gyari to remain obsessed with her so she can shine brighter. Iruma is no demon and certainly not selfish, so I imagine he'll do his best to guide Chima down a better path.
Even over a decade ago when Soi was a baby, his brother was so powerful he could disappear even beyond their father's ability to detect. With all those years of further practice, it would be no surprise if such a prodigy was able to discover entirely new ways of applying the Purson bloodline trait to make it work retroactively.
- As Agares is hiding underground, Balam will find him, and he will have to defend against magical plant attacks.
- Balam does find him and takes one balloon out with his entry into Agares' hiding spot at the end of chapter 250.
- Raim will end up facing Elizabetta.
- Jossed, Elizabetta loses one heart in stopping Sullivan's awakening from Buer or Momonoki's attacks, and then Kalego enters the battle to take the other one.
- Iruma will take Shiida's words to heart and shoot to kill a teacher to save a classmate or Vine.
- More likely, he'll just aim to incapacitate them by shooting a limb. It's hard to imagine Iruma shooting to kill anyone.
- Alternatively, he might Take a Third Option and find a way to prevail without hurting anyone.
- This seems to be the case as he aimed to destroy Robin's perch with his attack over direct harm to the teacher.
- He may have even visited Japan, considering that the Legendary Leaf that he left behind appeared to produce sakura petals when it bloomed.
- It's possible that a lot of Delkira's reforms were based on policies from the human world, which is much more peaceful and (let's be honest) has less callous social norms than the demon world.
- He might have even first been transported to the human world by the familiar summoning ritual, and decided to stick around because everything was so different from the demon world.
- There's been no mention or appearance of a "Mr. Asmodeus."
- Alice has kept his bloodline magic a secret from everyone else, which could have been inherited from his father rather than his mother, and he doesn't want to be associated with the man.
- Amaryllis also has a policy of respecting personal issues, which would make sense if she didn't want to talk about her disloyal husband.
- The Misfit Class all kept trying to reach out to Purson up to the Music Festival (look under the Heartwarming page). It's possible that, as a result of spending so much time with Iruma, they are gradually growing more and more compassionate.
- It might also be possible that consuming human flesh feeds a demon's Evil Cycle, since humans generally consider man-eating creatures "evil."
- This could also explain why the human world is being kept secret from demon society by the top brass of the demon world; if eating humans causes demons to succumb to their Evil Cycles, then their entire society could collapse if they could do so regularly.
- Elizabetta has some Ship Tease with Iruma, yes, but she gets just as much with Lied, so it wouldn't be a surprise if she got together with the latter.
- Asmodeus gets a lot of Ship Tease with Iruma, is both his most devoted follower and first friend in the Netherworld, and—not so coincidentally—is named after the Demon King of Lust. The only potential roadblock would be if the series would be willing to explore a gay relationship between the two. If not, he could easily end up with Eiko due to their shared adoration for Iruma, or remain celibate.
- Eiko is a possibility considering how much she adores Iruma and Ameri, but with how often she fails to even get to talk to them, she's less likely. Azz seems more likely to pair with her since she's one of the only female demons he gets along with, and they both have a shared interest in their adoration for Iruma.
- Sheeda is 50-50. She could easily remain just being Iruma's Cool Big Sis, but there are hints that she genuinely likes Iruma more than just as a little brother.

1. Try and manipulate Iruma into being their son/servant, to which he'll say no and tell them off for mistreatment.
2. Genuinely apologize to Iruma and try and make amends.
4. Become the main antagonists (or two of the main antagonists), somehow obtain deadly demon powers, try and take over the Demon Realm, and attack Iruma's friends while somehow blaming Iruma for "ruining their lives" as an excuse to mistreat him again. Considering how hated they are by the fanbase (being regarded with apathy at best), them becoming main villains or at least significant antagonists with direct appearances instead of being Greater Scope Villains, isn't much of a stretch.
- Azz: Shocked but more than happy to keep serving Iruma.
- Clara: She will mishear him and not fully grasp it, but as Iruma is the first being outside of family to chose to play with her, she will not care.
- Sabro: He will be shocked but find it amusing and perfectly justified. Of course his only true rival should be a species as rare and powerful as a "human".
- Jazz: He will wonder what valuable things there are in the human world to steal.
- Allocer: He will want to know more about what knowledge Iruma has of the human world and how to access it.
- Leid: He will want to know what games there are in the human world and if they are as fun as the demon world's.
- Agares: He will want to know if the beds are comfy.
- Gaap: He will be shocked and elated he made friends with a rare and legendary creature like a human.
- Caim: He will want to know if human females are as beautiful and alluring as demon ladies.
- Elizabetta: She will wonder if her destined lover could end up being a human, depending on how her feelings for Iruma have grown.
- Kerori: Upset because this news overshadows some big idol event and she will realize she proposed to a human.
- Soi: He won't be that surprised once he thinks it over.
- Ameri: She will feign shock and assure Iruma it doesn't matter before confessing she suspected as much for sometime. Iruma will be shocked to learn it was since before they first met.
- Kalego: Every weird thing about Iruma makes sense now and he will in turn be pissed at Opera, Sullivan, and even Balam for letting him get stuck as Iruma's familiar at least two years in a row.
But Iruma is human, that too is undeniable, and Arikled also has his own hints towards a connection with Delkira, such as not wanting anyone but Iruma to know he exists, there being no records of the Ring possessing any sentient spirit in it, and his name being "Delkira" spelled backwards. So how can they both be connected to Delkira if one is a human from another world, and the other a spirit tied to a Ring that is said to belong to the prophesized new Demon King?
Simple. They're both pieces of Delkira. Neither of them are the whole of Delkira, but rather a Literal Split Personality of sorts. Delkira was no doubt a genuine demon, but based on Sullivan's testimony, could be a genuine asshole. Iruma meanwhile is one of the sweetest individuals you could ever meet. So how could someone like Iruma be born from someone like Delkira?
Well, during the Deviculum, we are given further info on the Deities, the higher beings who effectively govern the Netherworld and have a non-aggression pact with the Demons. One of their number, Thoth, was the one responsible for protecting the Legendary Seed, and when Iruma and Lied grew it, it played a message left by Delkira, meaning Delkira has some ties to the Deities, and while it's played off as being a prerecorded message, Delkira specifically says, to Iruma only, "Is it you?", with the energy released resonating with Iruma. And we know Sullivan decided to adopt Iruma for a reason and has a plan, something Opera calls out when Iruma is first brought to the Netherworld, with the Thirteen's Dinner arc having him subtly steer Iruma in the direction of becoming the Demon King. And based on Wett of the Six Finger's phrasing, the belief is that Delkira isn't just missing, but dead. How does this all tie together?
Imagine, for a second, Delkira, being a proponent of Demons continuing to evolve, came to see Demonkind as stagnating. Finding a world like that boring, he figured Demonkind needed a new element to evolve, humanity, so he went to the Deities and made a plan. The Deities would split him into two pieces, one to remain in the Demon World, one to be sent to the Human World. The piece sent to the Human World would merge with a pure-hearted soul of a newborn human infant, while the piece in the Demon World would be crafted into the Ring of Gluttony. When the human was of age, Sullivan would be entrusted with finding the child and bringing them back to the Netherworld, and manipulate events so that the child would obtain the Ring of Gluttony. With both pieces together, this human child would become Delkira reborn, better though due to possessing humanity now. As a means of preparing the Netherworld for this though, a "prophecy" was written out, when it was really just a layout of what Delkira wanted the new human to become, while the Legendary Seed would be used as a way to verify that the child was a piece of Delkira. Only would this new being be able to bring the Netherworld to a new age, an evolution for Demonkind.
As such, the ultimate resolution of this will be Iruma and Ali merging. Iruma will become more like his Wicked Cycle full time, his personality being a mixture of regular Iruma and Delkira's, and as more and more Iruma grows in Rank, the more Ali will go to "sleep", more accurately preparing for the merge. Sullivan however, having grown genuinely attached to Iruma as his grandfather, will make sure to ensure that as much as Iruma remains as possible, so that he doesn't become too much like Delkira personality wise.
