Rewind or Die is 2023 first person slasher retro-style horror game, created by Comp-3 interactive, published by Puppet Combo under the pseudonym Torture Star Video.

You play as Tony Brown, an employee at a video rental store, Video-2-Go, who works a late shift night, but unknown to him, he was chosen and stalked by a psychotic serial killer in a Pig Costume.

Rewind Or Die contains examples of:

  • Action Survivor: Despite being a 20-something employee for a video rental shop, Tony is shown to be a decently capable against the maniacal Slaw. From gunning him down with a pistol, to stabbing him in the chest with a crowbar and throwing him into a meat grinder.
  • Ambiguously Trained: The homeless man Captain seems to be a war veteran, having a veteran suit on and an eyepatch and medals.
  • Animal Motifs: Pigs. Not only is the main villain dressed as a Pig, he uses terms to his victims “little piggies” and “piglets” as well as sacrifice them to a pig god.
  • Badass Normal: Tony can qualify, despite not being anything special than a video store employee, he manages to outrun and fight against, successfully killing the massive inhumanly powerful Slaw.
  • Bad Boss: Keith Williams, Tony’s boss, is a massive prick who disrespects his employees and underpays them. this goes all the way up when he sets his sights on making Tony his next victim.
  • Big Bad: Slaw, real name Keith Williams, is a sadistic serial killer who stalks and captures Tony to sacrifice him to a pig god.
  • Bottle Episode: The first half of the story takes place in the Video-2-Go, while the second half completely stays inside the abandoned meat packaging plant.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: Slaw fits this towards every other slasher in the Puppet Combo line up. Unlike Burr, The Night Ripper, or The Nun, Slaw has a full personality as shown as a sadistic and psychopathic manchild Slaw, and as a bad and uncaring boss Keith. Unlike the Driller Killer or Billy, he shows no mental illness’ that explain his behavior, lacks a Freudian Excuse that Dylan or The Womb Ripper has, and even then, unlike The Easter Ripper, shows to not even hide his true behavior as the video store manager Keith, being a completely unlikable and hated person in all his appearances.
  • Crazy Homeless People: The first hobo Tony meets (named actually Hobo) is a psycho babbling person, but Captain subverts this, being a very chill person who has a good friendship with Tony.
  • Creepy Red Herring: Hobo the Hobo seems like a suspicious homeless man, however, ends up being another victim of Slaw’s rampage.
  • The Dog Was the Mastermind: The Sadistic serial murdering butcher turns out to be the VHS store owner and Tony’s own boss.
  • Hate Sink: Slaw is shown to be a sadistic animal abuser and serial killer who loves to taunt and abuse his prisoners before killing them. Even as his regular day appearance as Keith, he never bothers to hide how much of an asshole he is.
  • Hero of Another Story: The two detectives trying to find out the true murderer’s identity qualify as this.
  • Hooks and Crooks: Fitting his butcher aesthetic, Slaw arms himself with a meat hook and even dual wields a pair when taking on Tony in a bos fight
  • Intrepid Reporter: Timothy attempts to find out the murders, which unfortunately makes him end up in the wrong place and get kidnapped, tortured and murdered by Slaw.
  • Killed Off for Real: Slaw meets his end at the meat grinder, being shoved in by Tony. However, when Tony (and determinedly Captain and Zak) leave the base, Slaw’s hand comes out, seemingly confirming his survival, before it falls out, confirming Slaw’s fate.
  • Not Quite Dead: When Tony (and determinedly Cap and Zakk the dog) leave the compound after pushing Slaw into the meat grinder, Slaw’s arm comes out, before it comes out to confirm his fate.
  • Odd Friendship: Our protagonist, Tony, has this with Cap, the homeless man.
  • Sadist: Slaw’s main motivation it seems.
  • Sinister Swine: Slaw is a completely unhinged butcher who wears a pig costume.
  • The Stinger: The post credit scene comes about an hour before the second chapter, in which the two detective interview Keith over Tony’s disappearance, in which reveals he’s the true killer.
