Trivia / Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Chitose Morinaga voices Sorako Noodle and her numerous Identical Stranger counterparts, along with a number of extra voice roles for unnamed characters.
    • In the dub, Barrett Leddy voices both Gavin and Tyler.
  • All-Star Cast: SEVENS has a good mix of new and veteran voice actors.
  • Amateur Cast: Hiiro Ishibashi has been involved in entertainment since 2014, with no prior voice acting roles before being cast as Yuga. Many of the supporting and minor characters are also voiced by individuals who aren't big names in the voice acting industry.
  • Anime First: Like the other Yu-Gi-Oh! anime spinoffs (except ZEXAL), SEVENS is not based on an existing manga series.
  • Celebrity Voice Actor:
    • Hiiro Ishibashi, who has been involved in the entertainment industry since 2014, makes his anime voice acting debut in SEVENS as Yuga.note
    • Hajime Syacho, a popular Japanese YouTuber, joins the cast as Mr. Goha, the CEO of Goha Corporation. He also hosted a monster corner at the end of the episodes in the Birth of Rush Duels arc going over the Featured Card of the Episode.
    • YouthK Saeki, a singer and songwriter who provided OPs and EDs for Dr. STONE and Yowamushi Pedal, provides Jango Arisugawa's voice starting from the Goha 6th Elementary arc. He also provided the OP for SEVENS' first season.
  • Defictionalization: SEVENS is notably the first series to get a functioning Duel Disk toy since the functioning Yusei Duel Disk from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds.
  • Late Export for You: Despite the anime premiering in an era where almost every TV anime is simulcast (especially given how popular the franchise SEVENS is a part of is), the anime wasn't released in North America (nor anywhere else outside of Japan) until June 2022, more than two years after its April 2020 premiere in Japan. note  This is likely due to the series focusing on Rush Duels, whose cards are not sold in North America.
  • Milestone Celebration: SEVENS celebrates the 20th anniversary of animated works within the Duel Monsters meta series, which began with the 2000 anime series.
  • No Dub for You: Episodes 59, 68 and 80 were omitted from the dub, likely due to their strictly Filler nature.
  • Promoted Fangirl: Voice actress Jennifer "Jen" Silverman is a longtime Yu-Gi-Oh! fan and cosplayer who got cast as the English voice of Asana Mutsuba. She also began cosplaying as her character!
  • Schedule Slip: SEVENS went on hiatus for five weeks after the airing of the fifth episode due to complications resulting from the COVID-19 Pandemic. Reruns of the first five episodes aired to compensate for the postponements, and the show would resume airing as normal on June 13, 2020... only to go on hiatus again after the airing of the ninth episode until August 8. The remaining episodes have since largely aired uninterrupted, but the King of Duels arc has been noted by many to seem quite, well, rushed.
  • Underage Casting: 17 year old Rio Suzuki as 38 year old Mimi Atachi, the character herself looking 11 in-universe.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The writers admitted they were initially planning on nicknaming Luke's sister "Leia", but presumably changed it to "Tiger" to avoid legal trouble, though this hasn't stopped them from making a Luke, I Am Your Father joke with Luke himself.
    • Exact details haven't been revealed, but it has come out that Sevens did have to truncate its ending due to Covid-related issues impacting its production, leading it to have the shortest run of a mainline Yu-Gi-Oh! entry since the 90s Toei anime.
