  • Izuku, Ochako and a few other characters attend a middle school called Yomawari High.
  • One of their schoolmates is a girl named Cthylla Ryuu: she wears a dark cloak, has tentacles and wants to open a bookstore.
  • Their homeroom teacher Ms. Fukutachi has got a second mouth on the back of her head; she's directly inspired by a youkai called Futakuchi-onna.
  • After moving in with Futakuchi, Aoi is given a Maine Coone kitten as a welcoming gift. She decides to name it Meicoomon.
  • During the special provisional license exam, Izuku comes up with One For All: Kamado Style - which is nothing but a headbutt.
  • Eri watches Spy X Family as she recovers in a hospital room.
  • Eri has a nightmare of Bakugo dating Megumin.
  • The third Side Story has Eri meeting the ghost of a little girl in a toilet. The Omake of the same chapter has a cloaked figure offering rolls of colored toilet paper appearing in front of Hanako Yumara in the toilet.
  • Eri has yet another anime-related dream, where Aoi is the twin sister of Tomoko Kuroki.
  • On Halloween, Izuku and Ochako dress as Tanjiro and Kanao, Aoi as Nanachi, and Eri as Kanna Kamui.
  • Hanako, who's got a spider mutation quirk, gets called "Discount Muffet", referencing Undertale.
  • Next in the series of Eri's anime-related dreams is Izuku and Tanjiro crying and hugging as they don't want to fight each other, while Bakugo and Inosuke turn into dinosaurs to duke it out, referencing a meme.
  • In Side Story #4, a younger Hanako references the Strangling Ritual from Fatal Frame before gruesomely killing her bully in a similar way.
  • In Chapter 27, Izuku runs to change TV channel after hearing the opening lyrics of an anime Eri is watching, looking for something more age-appropriate and settling for what seems a cute Magical Girl anime. The series are Higurashi: When They Cry and Puella Magi Madoka Magica respectively.
  • The elementary school attended by Hanako is called Drakengard.
  • All For One is revealed to be, in a future one to two centuries from our era, still upset about the cancellation of Mega Man Legends 3. The fact that among so many media from our era that are still remembered, Capcom is apparently forgotten implies he was very upset.
  • After middle school Hanako goes to attend a private highschool called Umineko Academy. Its principal's name is Bernkastel.
  • Izuku, Ochako and Aoi spend a night watching Ghibli movies.
  • A doctor at the psychiatric clinic is called Konami and said to be a former friend of Dr. Kojima following a major falling-out.
  • Chtylla owns some pet turtles, two of them named Balboa and Creed.
  • The opening scene of Chapter 39 has a surreal conversation about the shortages in the availability of PlayStation 5 consoles, so infamous that in the future of My Hero Academia, the system having even existed to begin with is put in question.
  • Chapter 40 introduces Cthylla's father, a hulking mutant who doesn't just look like Cthulhu, it's literally his name.
  • In Rehabilitation #3, Toga's middle school friends are all named after female characters from Studio Ghibli movies.
  • One Quirk seen in Deep Dive #1, Phantom Limbs, sounds quite similar to the Vectors of Elfen Lied.
  • After Capcom, All For One destroyed anything Mario to the point that he's forgotten and Link has replaced him as Nintendo's mascot. All of that simply because he disliked the casting of Chris Pratt for the 2023 animated movie.
  • Ai's family company is called Nier Pharmaceuticals.
  • In Deep Dive #2, the characters talk about witnessing Ronri using one of her portals to drop an Evangelion Unit on the yakuza compound.
  • Deep Dive #3 is basically Skinamarink with alternate versions of Eri and Izuku replacing Kevin and Kaylee. The chapter is even titled "In This House...", like the tagline from the movie's trailer.
