Shout Out / BNA: Brand New Animal

  • In episode 1, Bokko from Wonder 3 (also known as ''The Amazing 3") can be seen in a crowd.
  • From Yoshinari's own Little Witch Academia (2017), The Hero Akko can be seen from behind as a beastman, specifically her rabbit form from the Fountain Of Polaris episode. Her friend Lotte also appears as a beastman in one shot in the first episode. And like how Andrew was a non-magical human in the series, he can also be seen as a human arresting a beastman, although glasses obscure his eyes.
    • In one episode, Michiru quickly changes hats, one of them being the witch hat from Little Witch Academia as well.
    • In Episode 9, Akko, Lotte and Sucy appear together in beastman forms in a public crowd.
  • The Little Mermaid: The resident Mafia Princess, a dolphin beastwoman is enamored with the human world and collects trinkets that end up ashore of her beach house.
  • Inferno Cop appears on a screen in the first episode. Another Freeze-Frame Bonus in the same episode is when Shiro is getting shot by the terrorists and climbs on a sign with the REVOCS logo on it.
  • During the Baseball Episode, one of the bears' teammates is based on Winnie the Pooh and is even called by that name as he's escorted off the field due to injuries.
    • Another teammate's beastman form, Jackie's, is based off of Vinni Pukh, the Russian equivalent to Winnie The Pooh.
    • Yet another of the team is based on Rascal the Raccoon.
    • The coach is a parody of Danpei Tange from Tomorrow's Joe, right down to the eyepatch and being a former (boxer/baseball player).
    • The whole team and their uniforms are based on The Bad News Bears — even the plot is vaguely similar: Total losers until a new, female pitcher joins the team. And another team they face is called Pink Flamingos.
    • When Marie preemptively corrects Michiru, she looks like Noroi from Gamba No Bouken.
    • The Pink Flamingos' pitcher mockingly tells Michiru to go home and build a mud boat, a reference to a Japanese folktale Kachi-kachi Yama — where a villainous tanuki tries to win a race against a heroic rabbit with a boat made of mud and drowns.
  • Yaba's monstrous rhino form triggered by Nirvasyl Syndrome is partially reminiscent of the mutation of Carnage Kabuto from One-Punch Man, especially with the Tron Lines on his body and after he grows multiple limbs and horns.
  • During the Final Battle, the Big Bad Alan takes on a form that greatly resembles the False King Ghidorah and even his normal Beastman form looks kind of like something from Cats. As a bonus, Shirou's Ginrou form has a blue color scheme similar to that of the True King of Monsters.
    • Furthermore, right before Shirou decides to spare Alan instead, he’s prepared to replicate the kiss of death Godzilla gave the MUT Os in Godzilla 2014.
  • Gram Grandma resembles Madame Broode.
  • The blue sparkles that Michiru emits whenever she shapeshifts is (probably) inspired by the twinkles from Kill la Kill.
  • The gesture that Nazuna uses as Déesse Louve is the kitsune hand-sign invented by Babymetal, a clue that she's actually a shapeshifting fox.
