Ship Tease / The Flash Sentry Chronicles

Go To

Despite being more action-oriented than its home series, it still features plenty of Ship Tease moments.

Flash Sentry and Twilight Sparkle

  • When they were both foals in "The Storm of Friendship," Flash rescues Twilight from a trio of bullies and later spends the night in Flash's makeshift home during a thunderstorm. Flash comforting Twilight with a blanket cements the moment.
  • In "Hearts and Hooves Day," both of them smile at each other and wish each other luck in finding their special someponies, in which the narrative emphasizes that they are completely missing what is in front of them.
  • After Flash Sentry is hospitalized from his fight with Sombra, Twilight is extremely anxious over his condition and after he regains consciousness, Flash promises that he'll always return back alive from every fight he faces in the future.
  • In "Magic Duel":
    • Twilight becomes jealous of Trixie when she develops a crush on Flash and tries helping him whenever possible, believing that he would spend less time with her if he started dating Trixie and can't imagine living without him.
    • When Flash accuses Twilight of being jealous, she instantly becomes flustered. However, he instead misses the point and thinks that she was just envious of Trixie's magic abilities.
    • Trixie decides to hold off on starting a romantic relationship with Flash, but warns Twilight that she should make the first move on him because she isn't planning on waiting forever. Twilight acts confused by this.
  • After deliberating that Twilight needs to enter the human world by herself in "The Thief and the Mirror," Flash tries arguing to go with her, reasoning that it is his duty to protect her.
  • In "Truths and Friendship," Flash instantly stares and blushes at Twilight when he sees her wearing her prom dress.
  • When Twilight returns to Equestria after her trip to the human world, she nearly falls on the floor from exhaustion until Flash catches her and both lock eyes with each other, blushing at the same time. This is even Lampshaded by Princess Cadance, who is outraged to see that her own vain attempts to hook the two up had failed.
  • All of the supporting characters in "Shipping" were dedicated to starting a relationship between the two, even going as far as stranding them on a boat by themselves. Their efforts even start to work when Twilight and Flash reminisce about the time they've spent together and lean in for a kiss, until their boat hits a reef and ruins the moment.
    Sweetie Belle: OH COME ON!
  • The Knight of Friendship acts as a final culmination of their ship tease. When Flash leaves the Crystal Empire after losing to Cold Steel, all of Twilight's friends help her finally realize her true feelings for Flash. Eventually, Twilight tracks Flash down and tries to bring him back, only for things to escalate into a shouting match between them and getting physical. Flash eventually pins Twilight down, only for her to burst into tears and declare her love to him, resulting in them finally sharing their First Kiss and becoming an Official Couple, with heavy implications that they slept together afterwards.

Rainbow Dash and Soarin Skies

  • After Rainbow saves Soarin's life in "Sonic Rainboom," he takes an immediate interest in her, watching her from the corner of his eye when he and the other Wonderbolts go to fly with her.
  • In "The Battle of Canterlot," Wild Smile deduces Soarin's crush on Rainbow and taunts him about it, enraging Soarin. Even when Soarin is knocked out, he spends his final moments of consciousness apologizing to Rainbow for failing.
  • "The Skies the Limit" is a giant Ship Tease chapter for this pairing:
    • After spending a moment to admire Rainbow's flying skills, he decides to spend his break on visiting Ponyville, ostensibly to meet his friend Flash, but secretly hopes to meet Rainbow in the process.
    • Upon meeting Soarin, Rainbow becomes flustered, blushing frequently and expressing excitement over meeting her favorite Wonderbolt.
    • Despite not being in an official relationship, the two essentially have a date like catching a bite to eat, sharing anecdotes, and even racing each other.
    • When Soarin leaves town after his break, Rainbow goes through a minor depression over it, but she's immediately cheered up when she receives a letter from him, including a copy of a book that he used to learn the Theta State and a postscript, asking her to write back to him.
  • In "Hearts and Hooves Day," Soarin sees Rainbow and her parents among the crowd during one of his Wonderbolt performances, enticing him to fly even harder to impress them. Afterwards, he spends the day with them, in which he converses with Rainbow even more and manages to earn her parents' approval, who have already figured out the crush that the two have on each other.
  • The two dance together in "A Canterlot Wedding PT2."
  • "Wonderbolt Academy" is another chapter chockfull of moments:
    • Soarin goes out of his way to see the new batch of recruits at the academy, hoping to see Rainbow there and trying to deny it badly to Spitfire once she finds out his game.
    • When the two bump into each other, Rainbow immediately tries to refer to him as "sir," in which Soarin tells her that she doesn't have to, since they are already friends.
    • Soarin protests Spitfire's decision to make Lightning Dust and Rainbow Dash a lead and wing pony respectively, going out of his way to claim that Rainbow is a far better fit to be lead pony than Lightning.
    • After Rainbow clips her wing and is sent to the hospital, Soarin meets her to bandage her injury. As the two converse, they slowly begin to lean into each other, until they are interrupted by the doctor.
    • Towards the end of the chapter, Rainbow confides to Soarin that she's worried about becoming a lead pony, in which Soarin reassures her that she's perfect for the position and is a far better leader than he is. This leads to them having their First Kiss and becoming an Official Couple.
  • Their human counterparts finally meet in "Soccer Showdown" and have a few moments. Soarin is noted as being able to keep up with Rainbow on the field, and the two end up making a bet with each other to see which of them can score more goals and the loser takes the winner to a restaurant of their choice and pays for their meal. Rainbow wins, but doesn't realize until Rarity points it out to her that she essentially agreed to a date with Soarin.

Iron Core and Fluttershy

  • In "Ponyville's New Defender" is filled with moments between the two:
    • Fluttershy is the pony that Iron meets after arriving to Ponyville, in which she guides him to his shack and he never gets angry with her, despite his gruff attitude.
    • Iron Core spends quite a lot of time with Fluttershy, even opening up about his past to her.
    • When Iron gets injured by a Speed Stinger, Fluttershy is the most concerned for him, watching over him when he is hospitalized and expressing relief when he regains consciousness.
  • In "Hearts and Hooves Day," Fluttershy introduces her parents to Iron Core and, when they are terrified by his intimidating presence, she assures them that he is ultimately a kind pony deep down. Afterwards, Iron spends the day with Fluttershy's family, sharing anecdotes and bonding with them. Ultimately, he wins her parents approval, whom are glad that a Royal Knight can protect their daughter.
  • In "Hurricane Fluttershy":
    • Iron goes out of his way to help Fluttershy gain the confidence to fly strong enough to help the other pegasi create a tornado. In fact, he even reassures her that she's not as weak as she thinks, stating that she exhibited true courage when she tried to rescue Grand Hoof during his fight with Lightning Blitz in "Clash at Canterlot Castle."
    • After the pegasi successfully muster the wingpower needed to create a tornado, Fluttershy thanks Iron for his help in building her confidence, hugging him and even kissing him on the cheek. Both of them blush at this gesture.
  • When vampire fruit bats raid Applejack's farm, she pressures Fluttershy into using the Stare to make them leave. In response to this pressure, Iron actually criticizes Applejack for this and calls out her selfishness when it results in turning Fluttershy into Flutterbat.
  • "Iron's Revenge" has tons of Ship Tease moments:
    • As Fluttershy looks through a photo album, it's revealed that both Fluttershy and Iron danced together during the Royal Wedding, in which the picture was captured by Pinkie Pie in secret. Fluttershy blushes upon seeing this and even imagines her sharing a kiss with Iron.
    • When Iron nearly kills one of Longhorn's minions out of rage, Fluttershy calms him down with a Cooldown Hug and begs him to stop. It works when Iron sees Fluttershy crying.
    • Both of them express a lot of concern for each others' safety throughout the chapter, especially during Longhorn's fight, where seeing Fluttershy get hurt enrages Iron and gives him the strength to finally beat him.
    • After Longhorn's defeat, Fluttershy meets Iron at the Canterlot Royal Gardens, congratulating him on finally becoming a Royal Knight. Throughout this encounter, the two are blushing and it eventually culminates in a First Kiss.
  • For their human counterparts:
    • They got a lot of intimate moments at the amusement park in "Friendships and Romance", with both enjoying the rides together and Iron opening up about his past with Fluttershy. It's easy to interpret it as a Double Date with Flash and Sci-Twi.
    • During "Unsolved Selfie Mystery", he volunteers to come with Fluttershy when she goes to search for the "sea monster", saying he can protect her in case it isn't friendly.

Wild Smile and Pinkie Pie

  • During their fight in "Twilight's Power," Wild actually flirts with Pinkie. She playfully returns the gesture.
  • Throughout "Baby Cakes," Wild helps Pinkie take care of the Cake Twins. After they complete the task, Pinkie thanks him for helping and kisses him on the cheek before trotting off. Wild is in disbelief from this gesture.
  • In "Hearts and Hooves Day," the two spend the day together by taking the Cake Twins to the park. Towards the end of the day, Wild tells Pinkie that he's decided to move to Ponyville and even asks her out on a date. Pinkie accepts the offer and gives him another kiss on the cheek.
  • In "A Canterlot Wedding PT2," Pinkie and Wild dance with each other.
  • When Pinkie meets Cheese Sandwich in "Pinkie Pride," Wild becomes jealous of Cheese and worries that the two will become a couple. After his attempts to sabotage Cheese during the goof off fails, Pinkie meets Wild and reassures him that she's not attracted to Cheese, stating that they are too similar for her taste. She then reveals her own romantic attraction to Wild and finally kisses him on the nose.

Lightning Blitz and Rarity

  • In "Lightning's Redemption," Rarity is understandably still cold towards Lightning for his role in nearly destroying Canterlot. However, she begins to warm up to him as he begins to earn the forgiveness of the other ponies in town and even gives the cloak she sewed to him for free, since he's come a long way from the jerk he used to be. This is especially noteworthy, as Rarity was disgusted by his attempt to flirt with her when they first met and shows that they are beginning to develop a far healthier relationship.
  • In "How to use your Flash Sentry 101," when Soarin, Iron, and Lightning are being bandaged up by Rainbow, Fluttershy, and Rarity after their training match with Flash, Rarity is noticeably the only one assisting who isn't in an official relationship with any of them, but still helps bandage Lightning up, which he thanks her for.
  • After saving Canterlot in "Lightning's Fate," Rarity visits Lightning while he is recovering to thank him. She even makes him a new, improved version of his cloak after his old one was destroyed and kisses him on the cheek.
  • "The Ultimate Ponyville Diet" has several moments:
    • When everyone pairs off to do a set of exercises, many of the official couples do them together. Despite not being in an official relationship, Lightning and Rarity pair up with each other.
    • When Lightning meets Rarity at the spa and discovers that she is exercising to lose weight, he assures her that a lot of ponies will be attracted to her and she won't stay single forever. After the talk, Lightning wonders out loud if any mare will have the courage to ask him out on a date, in which Rarity was about to reply before Lightning leaves.
    • After Rarity wins her bet against Lightning, she dares him to ask her out on a date. Nervous, Lightning accepts and Rarity tells him that they'll meet on Saturday, brushing her tail against his chin and winking at him before leaving.
  • In "A Wild Wild Heartswarming," Wild Smile sees Lightning and Rarity together, trotting through the market. When Wild asks what they're doing, Lightning immediately responds that she's helping him with heartswarming shopping.
  • "Spike's Heartbreak" confirms that the two of them secretly continued to go on dates together off-screen, discovering that they actually have a lot in common, and eventually became an Official Couple together "recently" before the events of the chapter.
  • For their human counterparts:
    • Rarity thanks Lightning when his decision not to help the Shadowbolts resulted in all of them needing to work together and split the prize, and she drags him along to celebrate with the rest of them before he can protest.

Rogue and Applejack

  • "Quest for the Golden Apple Tree has a couple of Ship Tease moments.
    • When Applejack learns about how lonely Rogue is, she assures him that one day, he'll find someone to care about and that he'll come to value that person more than himself. In response, Rogue can only look away from her to think about her words.
    • When Rogue sees Applejack get hurt by a drakeladon, he goes out of his way to save her, unleashing a massive sonic scream that repels the drakeladon. Once saved, Applejack puts her hoof over Rogue's mouth to stop the scream, in which the two briefly stare at each other.
    • Once the ordeal is done, Applejack offers Rogue to stay at Sweet Apple Acres and become a part of the Apple family in exchange for working on the farm. Rogue happily accepts.
  • In "Dungeons and Discord", Discord tries to goad Rogue into dancing with a pair of bat pony mares he summoned. When this only frustrates Rogue, Discord then teases him by asking if he's into Earth Ponies like Applejack and even turns the bat ponies into clones of Applejack. Rogue blushes at the outfits that the Applejack look-a-likes were wearing and quickly pulls himself free from them before Big Mac notices.
  • In "To Where and Back Again Part 1", Rogue went crazy after learning Applejack had been kidnapped by Changelings and was about to confront them before Starlight stopped him.
  • In "To Where and Back Again Part 2", once Rogue got out of the cocoon, he ran toward Applejack before stopping himself and ask her if she's okay. Then when Applejack notices the sun is getting in his eyes and hurting him, she shields him by putting her hat on his head.
  • In "Hard to Say Anything", the subject of Applejack is brought up between Rogue and Sugar Belle. Noticing that Rogue is smiling just thinking about her, Sugar Belle teases that he has a crush on her, which a blushing Rogue furiously denies.
  • In "Bat's the Way Home", the two can't sleep one night during their investigation, so they sit together in a tree. There, Rogue opens up about his frustrations about not knowing his own past and what harm he could've done if he hadn't met the Mane 7, in which Applejack comforts and assures him that he's better than he thinks. As the two stare at each other, Applejack leans in for an implied Almost Kiss before the intimate moment is ruined when the branch under them breaks. When the others wake up and find them so close, the two blush and defensively say they're "fine".
  • At the end of The Movie, Applejack and Rogue dance together during the celebration over the liberation of Canterlot.
  • At the end of "Viva Las Pegasus" during Soarin and Rainbow's wedding, Applejack is walking alongside Rogue while the rest of the Mane 7 were each with their significant other.
  • During "The Break Up Breakdown", the two are seen working on the farm together and give some advice to Heart to help him with his assignment. When Heart asks them what they would want their own special somepony to be like, the two are noticeably silent and glance at each other, before turning away blushing, and after Heart leaves they continue to glance at each other while the other isn't looking. In the montage showing the various couples together, they are the only two not in a relationship shown together, and drink a pair of apple ciders together.
  • "Nightmare Night" is filled with moments with them together. Rarity gives Rogue a Flying Monkey costume that goes with Applejack's Tin-Mare costume, and Rogue decides to finally confess his feelings to Applejack. After a long night together, Rogue confesses to Applejack and kisses her, telling her it is okay if she doesn't feel the same way about him, only for her to cut him off with a kiss of her own, with the two deciding they should try going on an official date together.

Shining Armor and Princess Cadance

  • During Twilight's childhood, there were a couple of hints that they were attracted to each other:
    • On Twilight's birthday, the entire Sparkle family goes to celebrate at Donut Joe's establishment, in which the two are paired with each other.
    • When the Sparkle family decide to adopt Flash into their family, they have him share a room with Shining, who blushes. To comfort him, Cadance hugs Shining.
  • In "Amending Fences," Cadance announces that she can't attend the Grand Galloping Gala or the Fantasia Parade because she has "major princess work." Flash suggests that Shining should come with her to help. The two share a glance and blush, in which Cadance happily accepts the proposal.

Thorax and Hiveena

  • There's some between Thorax and Hiveena in "Time for a Changeling":
    • When Thorax has to swear loyalty to Queen Chrysalis, he sees Hiveena, in which the situation is framed like Love at First Sight and he gives her a small smile.
    • When Thorax helps Hiveena escape the hive from Chrysalis, she gives him a tight hug before leaving.
    • After Thorax convinces the other ponies to give Hiveena a chance for redemption, she silently thanks Thorax.
  • In "The Bug and the Knight", when Hiveena can't sleep one night due to her anger at not being trusted by the ponies, Thorax comes to check on her and goes for a walk with her, despite being tired himself. When the two of them defend Flurry Heart from a thug trying to kidnap her and Thorax is knock unconscious, Hiveena hisses angrily and attacks the assailant as a giant cobra, acting like a Violently Protective Girlfriend.
  • In "To Where and Back Again Part 2":
    • When Thorax releases his love and changes his form, Hiveena looks him over and compliments it, causing Thorax to blush. Then, Hiveena hugs Thorax and releases her own love, causing her appearance to change as well.
    • Thorax initially admits he doesn't know how to be the leader, in which Heart suggests he and Hiveena should be co-leaders of Changelings with Soul telling them that they look cute together. After both changelings glance at each other, Thorax looks away, while Hiveena blushes at this proposal.
  • The final chapter of The Movie more or less confirms that Thorax and Hiveena became an Official Couple off-screen. When Spike questions Thorax on Hiveena's absence from the battle, Thorax explains that she is staying at the hive to "look after the eggs". Ember and Spike both congratulate Throax over this, with Ember commenting she can't wait to see what their grubs look like, all while Thorax's face goes red with embarrassment.

Starlight Glimmer and Sunburst

  • In "A Flash of Darkness", Evil Flash tries to convince Starlight into joining him and offering to give her a universe where she can reconcile with Sunburst, even noting that there is one universe where they are together. Starlight is notably flustered by this.
  • In "Uncommon Bond", there is far more blushing between the two as they interact with each other. Notably, Starlight blushes when Starburst mentions "love language" before he clarifies that it can also mean platonic or familial love.
  • While Starlight is talking with Maud in "The Maud Couple" about her own potential love life, admitting she never considered romance too much until then, she thinks about some qualities she would find attractive in someone. Though she never drops Sunburst's name directly, some of the qualities she lists describes him, like being nice and smart, liking her favorite board game and enjoying kite-flying.
  • It is mentioned in "The Break Up Breakdown" that Starlight is out of town, deciding to visit Sunburst on Hearts and Hooves Day.

Human Flash Sentry and Sci-Twi

  • While heading to Canterlot High School to attend the Friendship Games, Flash compliments Sci-Twi's intelligence, claiming no one can be as smart as her. Sci-Twi blushes at this remark.
  • When Flash sees Sci-Twi in her athletic gear, he blushes at this sight, in which Sci-Twi blushes herself when she sees this.
  • Legend Of Everfree is pretty much dedicated to this pairing:
    • When the other Royal Knights find out about Flash's crush on Sci-Twi, they begin playfully taunting him about it. Flash can only weakly deny such a thing.
    • Just as Sci-Twi finishes singing "The Midnight in Me", she loses her balance and lands on Flash, who tried catching her. Both lay on top of each other, faces inches away and blushing at this.
    • In that same scene, Sci-Twi vents about her fear of Midnight Sparkle to Flash, who tries to comfort her, even giving her a hug.
  • "Friendships and Romance" has the two of them going out on their first official date, with Sci-Twi kissing Flash on the cheek at the end.

Gallus and Silverstream

  • In "Reinforcements from the Future PT2", the future Fire Heart mentions Gallus and Silverstream's wedding, but doesn't elaborate further upon it because of "spoilers".
  • During "Nightmare Night", they are one of the pairings dancing together at the party.
  • During the big food fight in "What Lies Beneath", Gallus and Silverstream have a playful sword fight with baguettes. When they clash they briefly lock eyes and smile at each other before continuing their fight.
  • In "She's All Yak", Silverstream tries to ask Gallus to be her date to the dance. Gallus turns her down because he doesn't know how to dance, but after talking to Ace goes back to her and apologizes, with her teaching him how to dance afterwards.

Fire Heart and Cozy Glow

  • When the two of them first meet in School's in Session, they bump into each other in the school's hallway, not all that different to how Flash and Twilight bumped into each other. After introducing themselves, Cozy helps Heart when she sees how itchy his cast is for him, showing him how to deal with it by blowing into the bandage.
  • When the school is shut down and Cozy Glow is forced to leave town, a saddened Heart specifically looks for her to bid farewell to, in which Cozy reciprocates the warm sentiments. Once Cozy boards her train, Soul points out that Heart wasn't as upset when all the other students left, and Heart himself acknowledges he isn't sure why seeing her leave hurts so much, but says even if he didn't know her for very long he liked having her around.
  • When Heart and Cozy are reunited at the end of School's in Session, the other students all see the looks Heart is giving Cozy and smirk to themselves at his obliviousness.
  • In "The Break Up Breakdown", Cozy speaks to Heart about how much she loves Hearts and Hooves Day because of how romantic it is, and is disappointed when Heart doesn't feel the same way. Towards the end of the chapter, Hearts meets up with Cozy again and helps her write her essay after he finishes his own.
  • Cozy confesses to Heart and Soul that she thinks she might have done something bad in "Marks for Efforts", when she thinks she got the CMC in trouble. After they encourage her to go see Starlight and get help, Heart says he hopes what she did wasn't too bad, and says he doesn't want her to potentially leave because of it.
  • In "A Matter of Principals", Heart saves Cozy from getting trampled from a group of fleeing students and protects her from Smolder's fire sneezes. Heart also wanted to partner up with Cozy during the Spell-venger Hunt while he and Soul were in the middle of a feud with each other, until they realized the parings were already decided for them.
  • The two briefly dance together with other couples in "Nightmare Night".
  • They share a few important moments together in "School Raze", which also serves as a final culmination of their ship tease:
    • Heart stops Cozy from flying into a wall while she's distracted, and she thanks him, causing him to blush.
    • At the start of Part 2, Heart begs Cozy to stop what she's doing and have a Held Gaze together. Cozy expresses how using Heart for her benefit wasn't part of her plan, admitting she thought about it, but decided to CMC were a better idea and she considers meeting Heart a "happy accident" since she enjoyed spending time with him, blushing while admitting it. She offers Heart a choice, if he joins her then as the ruler of Equestria she can officially knight him so he can achieve his dream and serve as her personal bodyguard so they can keep having fun together, and if they decide to become a couple and see if they work well together, then they can get married and Heart can be a King one day. Heart is seemingly tempted by this offer, but rejects it when Cozy says she can't let Soul and Starlight go too, officially ending any possible relationship between them.

Springer and Mirage

  • After Springer and Mirage converse over their respective worlds, the two share an intense stare with each other before the latter comments that she's glad he and the two Jakhowl pups came to Aurarora, and states that he'd be welcomed to stay.
  • Mirage takes Springer to her favorite waterfall site and the two form a close bond as they exchange anecdotes and joke with each other throughout the night.
  • At Sirius' funeral, Mirage sees the spirits of him and her mother, and after they glance at Springer together Mirage swears to herself to do everything she can to help Springer with his new position as chief. She later promises Flash, along with Ace and Mira, to keep an eye on Springer for him and make sure he'll be okay.
  • "Jakhowls in Equestria" acts as the climax of this for them. Mirage joins Springer as he heads to Canterlot for the first meeting of the United Federation of Creatures. As he shows her around Ponyville, several characters show they can tell there is more between them than just friendship, such as Rose giving Springer a lily that he places between Mirage's ear, and Pinkie giving them a milkshake to share. Towards the end, after affirming their faith in each other they share their First Kiss together, which quickly leads to them leaping at each other and making out together, with the final scene implying they did much more than that together.

Other Pairings

  • In "Hearts and Hooves Day," Spike gets to spend the day with Rarity, where he helps her with new dress designs and Rarity loves one of his designs so much, that the two starting working on it together and Rarity models it herself when they finish.
  • A minor moment between Trixie and Solid Script, where Flash catches them dancing together at the Royal Wedding in "A Canterlot Wedding PT2."
  • During the party in "Nightmare Night", some of the students dance together, including Yona and Sandbar.
  • At one point in "The Quest of Redemption PT2", Ruby and Sombra land on top of each other and, as they pick themselves up, they share a Held Gaze and feel a rekindled affection with each other. However, the moment gets prematurely interrupted by Jaden.
  • Springer planned for Ace and Mira to eventually get together as a couple to help preserve the Jakhowl race when he thought they were all the last Jakhowls alive, before the events of Jakhowls Rising. "She's All Yak" shows that Mira has developed feelings for Ace, with the chapter ending on the possibility of them getting together.
