Gumball: And introducing all my other friends in....The Amazing World of— Ugh. Forget it, who's gonna watch that?

Gumball and Darwin play around with a video camera and make home movies, turning the episode into an amateur sketch show.

Tropes:

  • As Himself: In-universe, Gumball introduces everyone in the video with "x as x!", with a sign saying just that. He even introduces the mailman as "this guy as... this guy!"
  • Bowdlerise: The Cartoon Network Arabia version of this episode cuts out the entire part with Tobias' tips on how to score with girls.
  • Brick Joke: Gumball and Darwin film a commercial for "Baby Anais, The Living Baby Doll" which soon turns into a commercial for "The Annihilator." Much later when Darwin is lecturing about Infinity-finity-finity, Gumball appears out of nowhere with "The Annihilator" and attacks the camera.
  • Cuteness Overload: Darwin's "cute combo" ends up being so cute it makes Gumball pass out face-down with rainbow-colored vomit leaking out the sides.
  • Downer Ending: Gumball and Darwin accidentally delete everything from the tape, making the episode pointless.
  • Epic Fail: Darwin keeps messing up the film's intro, which involves turning to face the camera on a swivel chair. Gumball decides to try it himself and snaps his own neck 180 degree without the rest of his body or the chair changing direction.
  • Fartillery: Richard is described as having a "silent but deadly defense mechanism that triggers itself when he feels threatened", scaring off Nicole from taking back the food he grabbed from the groceries.
  • Given Name Reveal: The "X as X!" segment reveals Carrie's surname to be Krueger.
  • Homage: In one portion Darwin attempts to make his and Gumball's tape more serious by showing time-lapse shots of nature and the movement of people and cars to music similar to that of Philip Glass while narrating and presenting "science" in a Saganesque style.
  • Konami Code: Ocho uses this to summon money for a vending machine, write a test, and easily pass gym. When Gumball does it, he glitches up. Possibly this was because, when Ocho does the code, he does the left-right part from the perspective of the camera/player, as any videogame character would. When Gumball does it, he moves to his own left-right, essentially inverting the code.
  • Medium-Shift Gag: A Travel Montage in "Ninja George" is shown using live-action cardboard cutouts.
  • Not Hyperbole: Ninja George (Gumball) swears he would never raise his fist again; then he eats a sandwich with his foot.
  • Painful Rhyme:
Tobias: If you want to get dates, you got to pump weights! 'cause girls can't deny a guy who's this fly. So let's get some muscles and score some chicks from... like, Brussels, or something.
  • invokedPlot Hole: Invoked Trope. Gumball asks Darwin why his character in their movie didn't just kill Gumball's before all the training.
  • Rhetorical Question Blunder:
Tobias: Hey, beautiful, you have a quarter? 'Cause I told my mom I'd call her when I fell in love.
Masami: Uh, no, I'm sorry. I don't. But you can use my cell.
(Masami hands Tobias her cellphone, he dials it)
Tobias: (on phone) Hey, mom... could you come pick me up early today, 'cause (whispers) I'm kind of embarrassed.
  • Screamer Prank: Carrie does one where she pretends you can see in 3D without glasses if you get really close to the screen (this short was originally used on the Elmore Stream-it youtube account).
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Once Gumball and Darwin finish the tape them and a bunch of other people were working on, they accidentally delete everything.
  • Take That!: Gumball tells Darwin to hurt himself or look cute, because "people like to look at people who hurt themselves and cute animals," which explains the popularity of most Internet videos.
  • Title Drop: Subverted when Gumball says "The Amazing World of! Ugh, forget it, who's gonna watch that..."
  • Use Your Head: Ocho gets money out of a Super Mario style brick by hitting it. Gumball tries the same and merely injures himself.
  • Vignette Episode: An episode featuring the Wattersons and students at Elmore Jr. High with the Framing Device of a video Gumball and Darwin are trying to make.
  • Wildlife Commentary Spoof: Gumball films his family like a nature documentary and makes up fake scientific sounding names, calling Richard "Moobus Gelatinous", Nicole "Kickbuttus Hystericus", and Anais "Runtus Decepticus".
  • Wimp Fight: A small hit from Darwin during their movie's climactic fight makes Gumball cry, which makes Darwin cry.

The Amazing World Of Gumball

In the episode "The Tape", Ocho uses the Konami code in real life to summon money for a vending machine, write a test, and easily pass gym. When Gumball does it, it results in a very painful Reality-Breaking Bug.

How well does it match the trope?
