Gumball is having a run of bad luck, and tries to reverse it after learning that he used up all of his good luck the day before.

- Bittersweet Ending: Gumball gets hospitalized after his hell-ish day. However, he survives and when he wakes up Nicole says the doctor said he was very lucky to survive, meaning his luck is finally back. until the Daisyland ticket gets shredded by a fan
- The Chew Toy: Poor Gumball, nothing goes right for him in this episode.
- Continuity Nod: The picture of Darwin trying to kiss Gumball on the roller-coaster from "The Dress" can be seen framed on the wall when the Wattersons are in line for the bathroom.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Seven hours is a bit much for an insult. Principal Brown definitely gives Skinner a run for his money in the pettiness department, that's for sure.
- Fee Fi Faux Pas: Principal Brown walking into the insult Gumball directed at Banana Joe.
- Fingore: Gumball gets his finger stuck in the school bus door while on the outside and is then dragged by it all the way to school.
- Fun with Flushing: Exaggerated; the episode begins with Gumball stumbling in the shower, falling into the toilet, and getting flushed into the sewer outside their house.
- Giving Up on Logic: Anais thinks Gumball is just being superstitious until he gets struck by lightning caused by a cloud that formed indoors yes indoors.Anais: Guess logic and reason just went down the drain.
- Homage: Most of the episode after Gumball is sent to detention is an homage to Final Destination, of which the show creators are fans.
- Insult Friendly Fire: As Gumball prepares to return fire in frustration one too many jokes from Banana Joe (see Rhetorical Question Blunder about the former's duds), Principal Brown enters the scene, coming out in front of and slamming the door on Joe, becoming the target of Gumball's insult:Gumball: UGH! WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR BRAIN FROM? THE DOLLAR STORE?! * gasps *
Principal Brown: Seven hours detention, for hurting my feelings.
Gumball: WHAT? But-
Principal Brown: I'll see you after school. - Jerkass Ball: Principal Brown continuously interrupts Gumball not letting him speak, him geting knocked out by the explosion from detetntion was well deserved.
- Karma Houdini: Banana Joe sees no consequences for sending Gumball over the edge and inadvertently causing him to get 7 hours detention.
- Knife Outline: A bunch of sharp pencils fly into Gumball's face. He ducks out of the way, but they form an outline around the Gumball in the picture behind him—then the final pencil goes between the picture's legs, eliciting a worried reaction from Gumball.
- Laser-Guided Karma: After falsely putting Gumball in detention, Principal Brown gets knocked out by the explosion from the detention room.
- Musicalis Interruptus: After realizing he's having a bad day, Gumball starts to sing a song about it only to get stepped on by Hector one line in.
- Not My Lucky Day: This episode is about Gumball having incredibly bad luck.
- No OSHA Compliance: Why is there an unfinished section of the highway?
- Out-of-Character Moment: Anais yes her doesn't understand why they can't afford to go to Daisyland, but it's only for the start of the episode.

- Throw the Dog a Bone: After going through hell for an entire day, Gumball just barely survives the day, with his doctor even claiming that he's very lucky.

- Unexplained Recovery: Gumball's clothes are ruined, forcing him to wear ones from the Lost and Found, but his original clothes are inexplicably repaired by the time he's in detention.
- Yank the Dog's Chain: Just when you though Gumball finally got a happy ending by getting the Daisyland ticket it gets shreded by a fan.
