"Um... well, what you need to know about my town is that it's really boring. Like, really, really boring. Really, really, really boring. Um, that's probably why I spend so much time on my computer."
Bree, "First Blog / Dorkiness Prevails"
Dates Posted: (2006) June 16, 18, 21, 23, 25, July 4, 5, 9, 13, 16, 18, 20, 22, 26, 29, August 3, 6, 8, 10, 15, 18, 20, 24, 25

Bree and Daniel get introduced, and we get familiar with their relationship and learn about Bree's religion and her overly restrictive parents.

"First Blog / Dorkiness Prevails": Bree introduces herself to the internet and talks about her favorite YouTubers.

"Purple Monkey": Bree introduces her Purple Monkey puppet.

"School Work in Summer... BLECHH!!!": Bree reveals that she's home-schooled, which is why she's doing homework in June. She reads some very suspect "facts" out of her book.

"The Danielbeast": Bree records her friend Daniel without his knowledge.

"Grillz feat. Danielbeast, LG15, P. Monkey, and O'n.": Bree and Daniel film a lip-sync video for the Nelly song "Grillz".

"My Parents Suck...": Bree says her planned hiking trip with Daniel was cancelled by her parents at literally the last minute. She also mentions her mysterious religion for the first time.

"Daniel Responds": Daniel explains that he's mad at Bree's parents, not her. He rants about her parents briefly. He tells off the commenters that he thinks are judging Bree and his friendship with her based on their own assumptions and the short videos.

"Daniel Returns, and More Interesting Factoids (Yay!)": Daniel returns to Bree's house much to Bree's delight. They redecorate her room a bit to make it more interesting for the camera and Bree shares some stories.

"Proving Science Wrong": Bree decides to try and prove the uncertainty principle wrong by trying to make Daniel move off her bed. He doesn't get off her bed and she decides that she has proved the uncertainty principle wrong.

"My Parents... Let Us Go Hiking!!!": Bree and Daniel are finally allowed to take the hiking trip they had planned for nine days earlier. The episode intercuts black-and-white footage of them messing around in Bree's bedroom with color footage of Bree enjoying nature.

"Boy Problems...": Bree discovers that Daniel has a crush on her and discusses her feelings about that. She isn't sure if she feels the same way.

"Girl Problems...": Daniel rants about Bree publicly airing his crush.

"He Said, She Said": Bree reenacts her over-the-phone reconciliation with Daniel. In the captions, they apologize to each other and decide to keep making videos.

"My Lazy Eye (and P. Monkey Gets Funky!)": Bree's having a disagreement with her parents, but she can't talk about it directly in a video, so she decides to use a story about her lazy eye instead.

"Proving Science Wrong... with Lonelybeast and Danielgirl15": "Lonelybeast" (Daniel) decides to teach the audience about the "Cornwallis effect". "Danielgirl15" (Bree) isn't having much of it, however.

"The Tolstoy Principle (and Dad "talks" to Daniel)": Bree tries to prove the Tolstoy principle - that every domesticated animal is alike - wrong, by applying it to Daniel.

"Daniel the Neanderthal": Bree decides to test the claim that modern humans are descended from hunter-gatherers by having herself and Daniel are going to attempt to prepare a caveman breakfast.

"What Did Daniel and Dad Talk About?": Bree decides to find out what Daniel and her dad talked about last week in the Tolstoy principle video.

"What Bree's Dad Said...": Daniel decides to make a video telling everyone what Bree's dad said. Her dad invited him to her religion's summer camp to film a play but he doesn't want to. Her dad threatened to not let him come around anymore if he won't, so he's been making excuses to get out of it.

"Me, Religion, and Daniel :(": Bree reveals that Daniel didn't tell her how he felt about the summer camp and says he misrepresented what it's like.

"I Probably Shouldn't Post This...": Bree records Daniel's visit, which is supposed to be a reconciliation between them. Instead, they get into a big argument about Bree's religion and how Daniel feels about it.

"Mysteries of My Past... REVEALED!": Bree talks about all the places she's lived in throughout her life. She ends the video by playing with P. Monkey.

"A Peace Offering (and P. Monkey Boogies)": Bree decides to reconcile with Daniel, and as part of it, she looks up methods of peace offerings used by past societies to decide what kind she should offer Daniel.

"To Hell With Bree's Dad (yeah!)": Daniel explains that he's decided to go to Bree's summer camp play after all. He explains that it's a surprise and that he won't let her dad's obnoxiousness ruin their friendship.

"I'm Really, Really, Really Excited!": Bree is really excited that Daniel came to her summer camp play. She talks about what happened a bit and says this means they're back together. She says they plan to go hiking again soon.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Misnaming: Bree calls the Anna Karenina principle the "Tolstoy principle".note
  • Actually Pretty Funny: In "Girl Problems...", Daniel claims it's irritating when Bree messes with him while he's lounging around in her room, but he doesn't mind because it's kinda funny.
  • Allegory: Bree gives short one in "My Lazy Eye (and P. Monkey Gets Funky!)", talking about her treatment for lazy eye from when she was four, as a way of complaining about how her parents can't see things from her point of view even though she learned to see the world a different way when she was just four.
  • All There in the Manual: We know "He Said, She Said" shows a reenactment of Bree's side of the call because the guy who ran the official fansite said in the comments that Daniel told him it was.
  • Artistic License – History: The monkey-burning ritual of the Kaqchikelo tribe mentioned in "A Peace Offering (and P. Monkey Boogies)" appears to be a fabrication of the show.
  • Blatant Lies: In "The Danielbeast", Bree tells Daniel the camera's not turned on.
  • Call-Back:
    • In "What Did Daniel and Dad Talk About?", Daniel says it smells like fish in Bree's room, a reference to the previous episode when fresh fish were in her room.
    • The opening line of "I'm Really, Really, Really Excited" is clearly a reference to the previous video's closing line:
Bree: You knew before I knew!
  • Caption Humor: During the Repeat Cut of Bree saying "it's not" in "School Work in Summer", Daniel edited in a caption saying "'It's Snot' (????)".
  • Chekhov's Gun: Daniel leaving the room to talk to Bree's dad in "The Tolstoy Principle" ends up being a source of conflict a couple episodes later.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: A couple instances in "Purple Monkey":
    • Bree refers to P. Monkey as female, but in nearly all later appearances by the puppet it was considered male.
    • Bree never acts as P. Monkey's voice again after this episode.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: In "Daniel Returns, and More Interesting Factoids (Yay!)", Daniel returns.
  • Helicopter Parents: Bree describes her parents this way in "My Parents Suck...", particularly in the comments where she adds that they don't trust her to uphold her beliefs when they're not around.
  • Hypocrite: Bree runs into this a couple times.
    • In "What Did Daniel and Dad Talk About?", she spends the whole video pestering Daniel for an answer to what him and her dad were talking about, and then doesn't give Daniel an answer when he asks her why he can't light the candles on her dresser.
    • Again in "I Probably Shouldn't Post This...", she refuses to answer Daniel's questions after demanding answers from him for the whole episode.
  • Immediate Self-Contradiction: A variant in "Daniel the Neanderthal" where the contradiction is non-verbal:
Bree: And we have some nuts begging to be mashed into a delicious hunter-gatherer breakfast cereal...
(Bree lifts the bowl and eats some of the nuts, then sets it down with a disgusted look on her face)
  • In-Universe Factoid Failure: A somewhat odd case thanks to the thin nature of the fourth wall. Bree's statement in "School Work in Summer" that the ancient Romans were cannibals was called out by commenters and Bree herself acknowledged the history book's error in the comments.
  • Jerkass Ball:
    • Rather than just tell Bree what her dad said and how he feels about her summer camp in person when she asked about it, Daniel decides to make a video ("What Bree's Dad Said...") where he just bashes all of it. Including calling her camp "lame" and saying it "sucks", which is compounded when the next video reveals he was lying to Bree about how he felt about it before this point.
    • Bree not only films (and posts) the entire argument with Daniel over his objections, but after all her time demanding answers from Daniel, she clams up at the end over a question we don't get to hear.
  • Jump Scare: Played for laughs in "First Blog", where, in the middle of the video, right after Bree says she's worried about people stalking her, the shot freezes, a stock scream plays, and "Psycho" Strings are heard.
  • Leave the Camera Running: Bree spends 30 straight seconds doing nothing but staring at Daniel while he lounges on her bed in "Proving Science Wrong".
  • Malaproper: Daniel calls the Coriolis effect the "Corwallis" effect in the Proving Science Wrong parody.
  • Madness Mantra: Bree saying "Coriolis" practically becomes this for her in the middle of the Proving Science Wrong parody video.
  • Mood Whiplash: "My Lazy Eye" goes from fairly serious metaphor to a goofy P. Monkey skit for the last 30 seconds.
  • No-Dialogue Episode:
    • Neither Bree nor Daniel ever says a word during "My Parents... Let Us Go Hiking!".
    • No spoken dialogue is heard during "He Said, She Said". The conversation is communicated via captions.
  • Nothing Exciting Ever Happens Here: In the first video, Bree mentions that her hometown is really boring, and naturally this comes before her life gets much more exciting.
  • Overly Long Gag: At the start of "I'm Really, Really, Really Excited", Bree says "really" about twenty times in a row when she's saying how excited she is that Daniel came to her play.
  • Precision F-Strike: The first in the series, dropped by Bree in the last line of "I Probably Shouldn't Post This...", for one of her only two curses in the series.
Bree: It's my beliefs, there's a million fucking different religions in the world!
  • "Psycho" Strings: Plays during the "jump scare" in the first video after Bree says she's worried people might stalk her if she gives out her address.
  • Repeat Cut: A couple of these were added as a gag by Daniel to Bree's early videos.
    • In "Purple Monkey", of Bree saying "helps me out".
    • "School Work in Summer" has Bree saying "it's not" three times.
  • Retcon: Bree reveals in "Mysteries of My Past... REVEALED!" that she lived in New Zealand for four years, but, way back in the comments of "The Danielbeast", she said she'd lived in New Zealand for only one year.
  • Self-Parody: Both in and out of universe with "Proving Science Wrong... with Lonelybeast and Danielgirl15". It's a parody of the earlier "Proving Science Wrong" video, and Daniel and Bree parody each other's behavior across the previous videos.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Bree calls Richard Feynman "Professor Calculus-smart!" in "Daniel Returns", a reference to the character from Tintin.
    • Bree mentions A Brief History of Time, by physicist Stephen Hawking in "Daniel Returns".
    • Again from "Daniel Returns", Bree hangs a Napoleon Dynamite poster in her room.
    • The description of "Girl Problems..." references the Jay-Z song "99 Problems".
"I got 99 problems, but a Bree ain't 1... yeah, so that kinda says it..."
    • Bree talks about the Jared Diamond book Guns, Germs, and Steel, from which she learned about the Tolstoy principle.
  • Silent Treatment: In the description, Bree says Daniel is giving her this following their fight in the previous episode.
  • Staring Contest: Daniel gets into one with Bree in "Proving Science Wrong" when she won't stop staring at him.
  • Stop Trick: Bree uses one to teleport around the room during her opening monologue in "Proving Science Wrong".
  • Swapped Roles: Daniel leads the video, wearing Bree's hat and pink feather boa, while Bree lounges around on the bed reading a magazine and not saying anything except during the cutaways.
  • That Liar Lies: Played for Laughs twice in "What Did Daniel and Dad Talk About?":
    • Bree calls Daniel a liar a couple times, but in a very silly voice with an exaggerated expression on her face.
    • Bree calls P. Monkey a liar when P. Monkey "says" he didn't overhear Daniel and her dad's conversation.

"Okay, I hope you guys enjoyed that... um... bye!"
