Answer: very.

While Bulma is on a business trip, Vegeta has been entrusted with babysitting Baby Trunks. Unbeknownst to him, she called backup: Nappa. This causes the Prince of All Saiyans all sorts of grief.

What do you think that trope is for?

  • Adaptational Badass: Baby Trunks is briefly seen flying, whereas he never showed such abilities until he was older in canon.
  • Adaptation Expansion: Vegeta states that Bulma had Trunks' tail removed at birth.note
Nappa: AND YOU DIDN'T STOP HER!?
    Vegeta: I WASN'T THERE!
Nappa: You are a bad dad, and a terrible partner.
Vegeta: I will kill you again.
  • Always Second Best: Vegeta screams at Baby Trunks while he's crying. He ends up collapsing.
Vegeta: He... he outscreamed me... NOBODY OUT-SCREAMS VEGETA!
    Nappa: Silver medal once again.
  • Aside Glance: Baby Trunks looks at the audience with a sly smile while Vegeta is on the phone with Bulma and asks how hard it could be to look after one infant.
  • Call-Back:
    • Naturally, Vegeta threatening to kill Nappa again references him having killed him previously in DBZA Episode 9.
    • Remember: Nappa has a degree in child psychology. Though, clearly, some of his "wisdom" is personal experience with Vegeta.
    • Baby Trunks pees so hard while Vegeta is changing him, that Vegeta gets shot through the roof. The same roof Vegeta shot a Galick Gun through when conceiving him.
Nappa: Hey look, Vegeta! He's got your stream!
    • Vegeta screams a Big "NO!" when Nappa reveals himself, just like he did with Ghost Nappa.
    • The episode also brings up Freeza Day, which is what Christmas is known as in the rest of the galaxy.
  • The Cameo: Taopaipai appears on a wanted poster.
  • Change the Uncomfortable Subject: Nappa does this twice when Vegeta notices his oddly specific choice of words for his tips.
    • First, when Vegeta notices Nappa said "he could punt (Vegeta) so far" when Vegeta was as small as Trunks instead of "could've", Nappa immediately asks what happened to Trunks' tail.
    • Then, when Vegeta notices how all Nappa's tips are oddly specific and seem to relate to Vegeta himself, Nappa points out that Trunks is flying out the window, causing Vegeta to quickly chase after him and grab him.
  • Deus Exit Machina: Although the episode is set entirely at the Capsule Corporation compound in West City, Bulma is on a business trip, and is only heard Speaking Simlish over a phone conversation with Vegeta. Dr. Briefs and Panchi are also nowhere to be seen. It is somewhat odd, considering that Bulma's VA is also Baby Trunks' VA.
  • The Diaper Change: The meat of the episode.
Vegeta: Oh God, to make matters worse, he just smells awful.
Nappa: Vegeta, you gotta change him!
Vegeta: Into what? We already established that he has no tail.
Nappa: What do you think that diaper is for?
    Vegeta: Oh... Shit.
    Nappa: That's the idea.
  • Dom Com: The tenor of this particular episode.
Vegeta: Yes, I know all the emergency numbers, but I'm pretty sure I can get him to a hospital faster than an ambulance.
  • Eat the Camera: How it goes from Nappa entering the story, to the title.
    Bulma: (indecipherable on the phone)
Vegeta: What do you mean, you called his uncle? You don't have a broth—
Nappa: (kicks open the door) VEGEEEEEETAAAAAA!!!
    Vegeta: NOOOOOO
  • Getting the Baby to Sleep: We cut to Nappa reading "How Freeza Stole Christmas" and Trunks fast asleep with Vegeta relieved that Trunks is "finally" asleep, however this status doesn't last long as Nappa tries to embarrass Vegeta for showing his gentle side on social media which leads to them having a fight (including a Galick Gun attack) which is so loud it wakes Trunks back up.
  • Hidden Depths: Nappa isn't as incompetent at raising children as one would think, as he reads a book to get Trunks to sleep. He does have a degree in child psychology, after all.
  • Hilariously Abusive Childhood: Not to Trunks, but apparently this was done to Vegeta according to Suspiciously Specific Denial below.
Nappa: (seeing Trunks for the first time) Oh my god he is so tiny! I remember when you (Vegeta) were this tiny: God I could punt you so far...
Vegeta: (visibly irritated) You mean "could have".
  • Pet the Dog: When he gets a moment away from Nappa, Vegeta finds himself giving his sleeping son a tender little smile.
  • Shout-Out: The episode title. Seriously, "Two and a Half Saiyans"?
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Nappa's warning to Vegeta not to shake a baby and tell it it's weak and will never be king (as it "will give them a complex"), or force-feed it caffeine (as it "stunts their growth"), gets Vegeta suspicious that Nappa or his own father may have done both to him when he was a baby.
  • Synchro-Vox: Nappa briefly has this when he says the line "Don't shake the baby".
  • That Poor Car: Vegeta's Galick Gun blast that he throws at Nappa (and misses) is loud enough to not only wake Trunks but also set off several local car alarms.
  • Tinkle in the Eye: Nappa warns Vegeta about this trope when he's about to change Trunks. Cue Trunks peeing so hard that his stream blows Vegeta right through the roof.
Nappa: Hey, look, Vegeta! He's got your stream! (to Trunks) What are they feeding you?
    Baby Trunks: (belches)
  • Twisted Christmas: The bedtime story Nappa reads Trunks is a story about how Freeza appropriated Christmas for the parts of the galaxy that he conquered.
  • Unmanly Secret: The last straw for Vegeta is when Nappa sneaks a photo of him having a tender moment at cribside with Baby Trunks
Nappa: This going on mah Spacestagram.
  • Your Little Dismissive Diminutive: Vegeta uses this to describe Bulma's business trip.
  • You Were Trying Too Hard: Nappa reassures Vegeta that every father's been where he is right now, and that he shouldn't be so hard on himself.

"GODDAMN IT, NAPPA!!!"
