The Sharp X1 was a Japanese home computer line produced by Sharp Corporation from 1982 to 1988. It was considered part of the major trinity of Japanese computers alongside the FM-7 and PC-88, despite not selling that many copies. It received a revision called X1 Turbo with better graphics and was succeeded by the Sharp X68000.


Specifications:

  • Sharp Z80 A CPU, 4 MHz
  • 64 KB RAM and 4 KB VRAM (expandable up to 48 KB)
  • 40/80 x 25 characters or 320x200/640x200 graphics modes (640x400 for X1 Turbo)
  • 8 colors
  • GI AY-3-8910 / Yamaha YM2149F sound generator (Yamaha YM2151 in later revisions), giving three sound channels
