People who are Not Good with Rejection in Animated Films.

  • 101 Dalmatians: Cruella makes this abundantly clear to the Radcliffes after they refuse to sell her the puppies and she promises to have her revenge.
  • In The Adventures of Tom Thumb and Thumbelina, the Mole King goes Ax-Crazy when Thumbelina rejects him and chooses Tom instead.
  • Wenlock of Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus turns any girl that refuses his affections to stone.
  • Beauty and the Beast:
    • Gaston increasingly goes from being a Jerkass Stalker with a Crush into a murderous Yandere through the course of the movie. It's especially evident after Belle keeps refusing him.
Gaston: I'll have Belle for my wife! Make no mistake about that!
    • The Bimbettes, Claudette (with the red dress), Laurette (with the amber dress) and Paulette (with the green dress) comically break down into tears when Gaston announces he's going to propose to Belle while dressed for his wedding.
  • Emily of Corpse Bride admits her heart broke after Barkis Bittern rejected her and left her for dead. She also has deep sadness inside her after Victor tells her he would never marry her and initially acts possessively towards Victor when his arranged fiance Victoria is around. She gets better and eventually decides to let Victoria and Victor be together. Her making peace with the rejection and her past is what allows her spirit to pass on.
  • The Jack In The Box from "The Steadfast Tin Soldier" sequence of Fantasia tries to force kisses on the ballerina and keeps her captive when she refuses him. He even tries to murder the tin soldier.
  • Claude Frollo from Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame does not take rejection well. Confirmed when he sings "She (Esmeralda) will be mine or she will burn!" and offers her a Sadistic Choice of such a nature.
  • The Incredibles: Buddy Pine/Syndrome makes this absolutely clear to Mr. Incredible after being refused by him as his sidekick, Incrediboy. He dedicates the rest of his life to an elaborate revenge scheme to kill off all superheroes and then take their place.
  • A deleted scene from the first The Lion King film that is mostly restored in the play as "The Madness of King Scar" is downright creepy. Scar starts hitting on Nala, wanting her to be his queen. She refuses. In front of the pride, he banishes her.
  • Hal/Titan in Megamind. He goes absolutely bonkers when Roxanne turns him down. He even decides to destroy Metro City just because one girl didn't return his feelings.
  • Victor Maynott in A Monster in Paris. He plots to marry the beautiful singer Lucille for himself even if she doesn't want to.
  • Pitch Black in Rise of the Guardians. In the Antarctica scene, he claims that he and Jack are the same and proposes him to join his side (and in one of the early artworks, he even strokes his jaw with a smug smile). When Jack turns him down, Pitch has a pained look on his face, then his expression changes into that of rage; he deceives Jack, breaks his staff and throws him down a crevasse. According to the DVD commentary, Pitch was genuinely hurt by his rejection as he didn't want to be alone. The commentary also uses the phrase "...Jack spurned him."
  • The Secret Life of Pets: The animals who live in the sewer are the Big Bad of the story because they were abandoned by their owners. This led to them seeking murderous revenge against all humans.
  • Lola the Gold Digger lionfish from Shark Tale, to the point where she mercilessly slams Oscar against the glass windows when he dumps her for Angie.
    • Lola then proves to be even more of a psychopath by being perfectly willing to arrange Don Lino & his Mob-sharks to kidnap Angie in demand of Oscar's obedience, even gleefully threatening Angie's life in order to do so.
Lola: You know, Sharkslayer. There's only one thing I like better than money: Revenge!
  • Shrek: In the first movie Shrek hears Fiona (who was in her ogre form due to a curse) tell Donkey that how could someone love anybody who's so ugly (she was talking about herself in her ogre form) and says that's why she can't be with Shrek. Shrek believes she was talking about him and acts very coldly towards Fiona, rebuffing her attempts to talk to him and screaming at Donkey to leave him alone. He also is shown weeping at home while sitting down to eat which mirrors Fiona crying at the castle due to her sadness at having to marry Farquaad when she loves Shrek and at Shrek's rejection of her. Fortunately, even though he was ordered not to, Donkey returns to Shrek's swamp anyway to explain what really happened and to get back at Shrek for being so mean besides.
Shrek: If I treated you so bad, how come you came back?
Donkey: 'Cause that's what friends do: THEY FORGIVE EACH OTHER!
Shrek: All right, Donkey, I forgive you — FOR STABBING ME IN THE BACK!!
  • In both the book and the movie Coraline repeatedly rejects the Other Mother's attempts to make her into her perfect little daughter and tells her she isn't her mother. In both versions, this results in the Other Mother having a Villainous Breakdown and in the movie when Coraline escapes she screams "DON'T LEAVE ME! DON'T LEAVE ME! I'LL DIE WITHOUT YOU!"
  • In Strange Magic, Roland calls Marianne "darlin'", "Buttercup", and similar endearments... which was fine when they were engaged, but she dumped him after seeing him kiss another girl on their wedding day, and by about a third of the way into the movie he is actively planning to use a Love Potion on her to make her take him back.
  • Toy Story: Woody has an insecurity complex about being Andy's one and only favorite toy. When Buzz starts to become Andy's favorite Woody responds by trying to get rid of Buzz. In the second movie, a tearjerker shows up when Jessie reveals how her original owner grew up and forgot about her. In the third movie, Lotso is bitter over his original owner "throwing" him away.
  • In Turning Red, Ming reacts to Mei rejecting the red moon ritual as though it were a rejection of her, and responds by unleashing her giant red panda form and rampaging.
