Richard Haydn (born George Richard Haydon; 10 March 1905 – 25 April 1985) was an English-American actor and director. He's best known for his roles in such films as Ball of Fire, The Sound of Music, and Young Frankenstein and for voicing the Caterpillar in Disney's Alice in Wonderland.
Haydn never married but was engaged for a few months to Maria Riva, the daughter of Marlene Dietrich. He died of a heart attack at the age of 80.
