Richard Haydn (born George Richard Haydon; 10 March 1905 – 25 April 1985) was an English-American actor and director. He's best known for his roles in the films ''Film/BallOfFire'', ''Film/TheSoundOfMusic'', and ''Film/YoungFrankenstein'' and for voicing the Caterpillar in Creator/{{Disney}}'s ''WesternAnimation/AliceInWonderland''.

Haydn never married but was engaged for a few months to Maria Riva, daughter of Creator/MarleneDietrich. He died of a heart attack at the age of 80.
