Centrocor

One of the bigger multi-planetary commercial/development monopolies and the first introduced in the story.

    In General

    Ashlay Bullam

    Director Dariau Cygnet

The director of Centrocor.

  • Affably Evil: He's a Corrupt Corporate Executive for sure, with all of his company's and employee's actions as proof, but he's also a Reasonable Authority Figure who gives Bullam a second chance despite royally screwing up in his eyes.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive
  • Big Fancy House: Owns one on top of The Mountain on Irkalla.
  • Greed
  • Infinite Supplies: He's in charge of the company that built The Hexus. He's able to give Bullam an illegally acquired former Navy carrier and two destroyers to help her out in her mission. The cost of the first one is an amount of money even Cygnet and Bullam can't seem to sum up but illustrate that it was astronomical, taking about a decade and a half to complete.
  • Mean Boss: While he does give Bullam a second chance, he doesn't do it until after he embarasses her in front of a group of Centrocor employees, and he reveals that was just for the entertainment of a Sector Warden's son.
  • Precision F-Strike: Delivers one in Forgotten Worlds to Bullam.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Despite Bullam's failure to capture Lanoe, he gives her a second chance.
Cygnet: Don't be fucking stupid. If I fired everyone who ever made a mistake, I wouldn't have any employees left.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: It is highly illegal to refurbish Navy equipment, let alone an entire Navy carrier, but Cygnet doesn't care about that and he doesn't care that it took 16 long years and money ranging in the billions, he wanted a carrier.

    Ulliam

The son of a Sector Warden.

  • Evil Redhead: He’s very uncaring of the fact that he could cost Ashlay Bullam her position and job, something she’s spent a life time trying to achieve.

    Captain Shulkin

A former Captain in the Navy, who was discharged for medical reasons.

  • Attempted Suicide: He tried to kill him and his entire crew by flying into the sun at some point before he's introduced.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: He has shades of this in Forgotten Worlds, but he definitely reaches this in "Forbidden Suns".
  • Blood Knight: The most notable example in the series. The only time he seems to come to life is when there's a battle to be fought.
  • Colonel Kilgore: To the point that he skirts the line of General Ripper territory.
  • The Unfettered: There is nothing he will let get in the way of him finding, capturing, and possibly killing Lanoe.
  • Mental Handicap, Moral Deficiency: The Navy did something to him that pretty much made him a zombie unless he's fighting, but more than that, the procedure seemed to also create a sort of moral decay as he's just find with sacrificing troops in order to complete his mission (even though it's a simple capture mission).
  • Undying Loyalty: To the Navy. To the point that he violently turns on a bunch of mutineers (his fellow crewmen) who were sponsored by the people that hired him to hunt down Lanoe simply because Lanoe had captured the carrier and Lanoe was Navy.

    Major Yael

    The Batygin Twins

Rhys & Oritt Batygin, the twin leaders of the Centrocor destroyers.

    Engineer Hollander

  • Character Death: It's never shown, but Ehta reports that he was one of the casualties in the attempted mutiny.
  • Killed Offscreen: During the mutiny.
  • The Mole: Turns out Bullam brought him over to Centrocor's side.
  • Mauve Shirt: He gets a bit of characterization thoughout the book before being Killed Offscreen in the mutiny.
  • Pet the Dog: He really does care about Paniet and goes out of his way to make sure he's not caught in the cross fire of the mutiny. Unfortunately, this doesn't save Hollander from dying in said mutiny.
  • Whatthe Hellisthat Accent
