Minor Characters

    Bobblehead Bob
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nyandozer_2635.png

A random civilian that was present at the Benevolent Bank the day the Crew robbed it, applying for a loan to start a business selling Skulldozer Bobbleheads. He was denied the loan, and was subsequently caught up in the heist. Dallas took pity on him, though, and brought him to the vault, where he was awestruck by the money the crew was making. The police eventually rescued him, but he went back to help out Dallas one last time, and was given a wad of cash in return.

His popularity after his appearance in the Big Bank trailer resulted in an achievement for helping him out and a subsequent cameo in the Hoxton Breakout trailer, as well as a recurring role as the Overkill Store's spokesperson.

  • Ascended Extra: While he started off as a generic civilian with no distinct personality or features, he later became the focus of the trailer for the Big Bank heist. His subsequent popularity earned him a number of cameo appearances afterwards, as well.
  • Creator Cameo: His facial appearance is based on a friend of Overkill CEO Ulf Andersson.
  • Recurring Extra: He appears as a civilian in nearly every heist in the game.
    • Should a person join mid-game with civilians dead, all civilian corpses will use his model.
    • Upgrading Jimmy's Bar in the Safehouse unlocks him as a bartender. Apparently, dealing with the gang is nothing compared to his last job.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story; In his first appearance, where he gets rejected for a loan, taken hostage, and caught up in an intense firefight. Then, just when things start looking up for him, he trips and falls off the roof of the bank.
    • Subsequent trailers have since given him a happier ending (in no small part due to his popularity), showing that he survived the fall, sold his story and became famous, and eventually managed to start his bobblehead business.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Bobblehead Bob was denied a loan from the Benevolent Bank and just when it looked like things were looking up after he gets money from Dallas, he falls off the roof and was presumed dead. Bob gained so much popularity among the community that he returns as a cameo in the Hoxton Breakout trailer in crutches and casts. He makes a full recovery later on and even managed to start his own business.

    Pager Guy
Sorry, it's just protocol, you understand.

Those who want to do stealth runs will inevitably have to deal with this guy. Regular security guards and GenSec guards come equipped with pagers, which will need to be answered once per guard if said guard was killed or apprehended. He can tolerate four strange calls, but if he has to take a fifth one, gets disconnected during a call, or does not receive an answer within the time limit, he gets fed up and sounds the alarm.

  • Acceptable Breaks from Reality: Zig-zagged; he won't get suspicious when someone different from the normal guard answers the pager, since otherwise stealth would be impossible, but after four calls, he'll stop playing along and sound the alarm.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He tolerates the first three calls, but he begins to get annoyed and angered afterwards.
  • Crying Wolf: Apparently guards messing with him is common enough that he's convinced the gang's antics are just more of the same.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Understandable, considering what he puts up with. For example:
Houston: Ca-can you speak a little louder? Sounded like you were buying me dinner...
Pager Guy: Uh-huh, uh-huh... yeah, that makes sense...
  • Failed a Spot Check:
    • He doesn't seem to notice Jacket using a pre-recorded message to answer a pager. The problem is the pre-recorded message says it's a pre-recorded message. However, given his demeanor, this sort of crap probably happens to him on a daily basis and he's just too jaded to care (or sounds the alarm in frustration if it's the 5th pager answer).
    • Jiro will answer the pager in Japanese and unless it's the 5th one, he still won't get suspicious.
    • Despite all guards in the game being male, he won't think twice if the pager is answered by Bonnie, Clover, Sydney, Hila or Joy. Probably justified, since he likely wouldn't know all the security guards deployed in his vicinity.
  • The Guards Must Be Crazy: He is certainly a rather credible individual, given the outlandish answers he sometimes receives.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: He gets annoyed whenever he has to page a guard, and tends to get angry after several strange answers. Before the stealth revamp, the pager guy could get a lot more abrasive, as the number of calls was limited to three for anyone without Smooth Talker basic.
  • Properly Paranoid: He only pages guards when they drop dead or are non-lethally incapacitated, possibly due to each of them holding a dead man's switch of some kind on their pagers, or the heart monitor pinging on domination. Amusingly though, depending on the dialogue, he could sound the alarm on the 5th pager solely because he was tired of all the jokes he was being fed.
  • Rule of Three: Originally, he would only accept two calls per player, and sound the alarm on any player's third (though a skill could increase the number of calls by one). The stealth revamp changed this to four calls for the entire party.
  • The Stoic: For all the crazy stuff that can happen during stealth, he is quite level headed, if somewhat easily annoyed.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: He seems to feel like this.
  • The Voice: For obvious reasons, he is never seen.

    Hillary & Jen
Two women who work for GenSec monitoring Robert's Bank (Hillary) and the Benevolent Bank (Jen), they regular keep tabs on the establishment to ensure everything's alright. They have a bit of a reputation among the heisters for almost being able to ruin a stealth job as they can send in guards if Bain wasn't convincing enough (and he usually isn't with Hillary) or call the police if they don't get to speak to the officers. Notably, even after you've satisfied Hillary, she will still contact Captain Rogers with the local police, who can just flat out sound the alarm after a minute or more with no way of preventing it.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: What usually tips Hillary off that something is up at the bank. Bain will always tell her that the bank manager Barney is away at a meeting for an account, but it's implied that Barney is a security guard, and thus would never be allowed to handle financial business at the bank (at least not brokering a deal). There is a rare occasion where she will buy it, implying either Barney switches jobs depending on how the Random Number God feels, or there there's more than one Barney working there.
  • Properly Paranoid: They don't call until the vault's timelock is activated, due to the systems pinging them when you do so and it's ahead of the vault's scheduled opening. Depending on your luck with Hillary, she will ask one of several questions, and Bain can only rarely fool her. Even if you do manage to fool her, she can still contact the local PD Chief and have him send someone over.
  • Trust Password: A mundane version, as Hillary asks Bain for the timelock codes to Robert's Bank and gets immediately suspicious after Bain feigns ignorance (claiming to be new on the job). She doesn't buy it, and Bain has to get the crew to hurriedly find the codes before Hillary catches on. Failing to do so will also trigger an alarm from her, and even succeeding may still get Captain Rogers involved.
  • The Voice: Much like the Pager Guy, Hillary and Jen are never seen due to their only interaction with you being through the phone.

    Bob McKendrick
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bob_mckendrick.png
"Change the Change!"
An upcoming politician and friend of John Simmons (aka The Elephant) who is running for Mayor of the DC area. He is the focus of a few of the Elephant's Heist, as the Elephant sees him as an asset and intends to put him into a position of power. Running on the platform of "the good old ways" it seems he does not have much popular support, which is why you are hired to "even the odds" so to speak. On other heists you can see various ads for his campaign, implying that the election is still a fair way off.
  • Corrupt Politician: It is unclear exactly how corrupt he actually is, as all contracts pertaining to him are given to you by The Elephant, who may be clandestinely helping Bob without the latter knowing form the most part. However it's implied that he is willing to transfer Hoxton, who is a known cop-killer, to a lower security prison without question, which means he must be aware of the gang on some level.
    • FBI Files trailer confirms he is fully aware of the relationship between Bain and Simmons and since has sold out the gang as they have become more trouble than they are worth for him.
  • Good Is Old-Fashioned: What he believes in and builds his platform on.
  • Karma Houdini: Yes, the Payday Gang did serious damage to his finances and their crime spree didn't do him any favors as the mayor of DC. But by the time of PAYDAY 3, he apparently managed to become President of the United States.
  • One-Steve Limit: Two cases; there's Bobblehead Bob, who (unofficially) shares the same first name with him and another McKendrick who has the museum dedicated to him. It's unknown if he's related to the other McKendrick or not, but it is known that the two are different people.
  • Rags to Riches: Implied by his biography, which states he's the son of a middle-class shoemaker who managed to pull himself up into the political stage with his family's accumulated wealth. If it's true, then his family gained considerable wealth in a single generation, which would make either him or his father a Self-Made Man.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: While he is probably appreciative of the PAYDAY crew rigging the elections so that he could become mayor, the crew's massive spree of crimes had turned the public against him. Willing to throw the crew under the bus in order to save his own skin, McKendrick contacts the Elephant to find a way to stop the crew from doing any more damage to the city. Their solution is bringing in Commissioner Solomon Garrett, who was known for taking down two mafias in Boston. Unfortunately for him, The Elephant isn't exactly on his side.
    • Further exemplified in The Yacht Heist of the John Wick Heists DLC: While he's busy giving a speech on his private yacht, the Payday gang sneak aboard, rob him blind of his campaign funds, and steal a hard drive full of access codes to numerous illegal foreign bank accounts, effectively scuttling his chances at re-election.

    Special Agent Jordan Griffin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sajordangriffin_payday2.png
An FBI agent who is investigating the Payday gang while under a lot of stress as she desperately tries to find connections between the gang and their contractors, and ultimately bring them to justice. Unfortunately for her, Bain is always one step ahead.
  • Cassandra Truth: Her boss doesn't believe her stories about Crime.net, which only adds to her frustration and stress.
  • The Determinator: There is never a moment where she isn't investigating Crime.net.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Her: In Hoxton Breakout Day 2, She appears as an NPC, though being just another mook for the crew to gun down, most players aren't even aware of who they've just killed.
  • Insistent Terminology: She prefers to be called special agent.
  • Mauve Shirt: A prominent character in the web series who subtly appears ingame; She's the blonde female agent in the blue shirt in the FBI operations room during Hoxton Breakout.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Going through tremendous stress and depression, she has been working tirelessly to bring the Payday gang to justice, and to make light of Crime.net to the public. However, Vlad meets with her and gives her a friendly warning not to get close to the truth, as she will be killed. She was never referenced in the games since. By the Hoxton Breakout heist, she finally makes an appearance in the game, on Day 2... only to possibly be immediately killed by the Payday gang.
  • Video Game Caring Potential: Though not initially possible, you can use the domination skills to shout her down and cuff her, then make sure she survives the heist.

    Hajrudin
Portrayed By: Almir Listo

A Bosnian-Norwegian airplane pilot and Vlad's brother-in-law.

  • Ace Pilot: Usually. Sometimes he misses the cage in Goat Simulator, and when he doesn't he is noticeably surprised. Plus the entire White Xmas heist wouldn't have happened if he hadn't gotten drunk at the helm and crashed the plane.
  • Ascended Extra: Initially a mere Pilot asset in GO Bank, he became the focus of the White Xmas Heist, where he was transporting a shipment of cocaine for Vlad disguised as Christmas presents, but crashed in the woods outside Washington because he was drunk. He returns in the Goat Simulator heist to lift the eponymous goats away on day 2, and in Stealing Xmas, he once again, screws up a shipment of coke for Vlad by getting drunk and crashing into a mall in a Santa outfit. He returns in the San Martín Bank heist, where he assists the crew in the loud variant of the heist. However, he ends up getting arrested, meaning the crew has to save him in the Breakfast in Tijuana job.
  • Creator Cameo: He is voiced and played by Almir Listo, much like how Bain is voiced by Simon Viklund.
  • Drunk Driver: More of a pilot than a driver. He is sober in both GO Bank, Goat Simulator and Breakfast in Tijuana, but drunk in White Xmas and Stealing Xmas, though he was not flying anything in the latter.
  • Escort Mission: White Xmas is entirely about escorting him to safety, although he is invulnerable to damage and the only real problem is keeping up with him to get him back on his feet whenever he falls down drunk.
  • Gameplay Ally Immortality: The White Xmas heist would be hair-pulling levels of frustrating otherwise, since he is slow as molasses, and passes out at random times. This doesn't mean the mission is by any means easy.
  • Made of Iron: Somehow survived a plane crash and fell out of the cabin but only suffered a mild hangover, which was more from the booze than anything else. He's also completely invulnerable to damage during gameplay, which is brought up in Stealing Xmas as after each portion of the heist you have to smack him with your melee weapon to wake him up and tell you where to go next.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: He's a lot less silly during the "Breakfast in Tijuana" heist, mainly because he's both separated from alcohol and really eager to avoid prison. Also, in GO Bank, he doesn't joke around, and is a pretty competent pilot, and only rarely misses the Fulton cage.
  • Precision F-Strike: Gives one during the trailer for "Breakfast in Tijuana" as he reveals where he is to Vlad.
  • The Vietnam Vet: Day 2 of Goat Simulator suggests that he was apparently a Vietnam veteran, as he likened the heated firefight happening during the mission to the battle of Khe Sanh. He was also once employed by Delta but fired by the FAA at some point, presumably for his incompetence.
  • Vodka Drunkenski: Seems to run in the family. This actually makes the gang's job a whole lot harder, since during White Xmas he will pass out at random moments or take a moment to take another swig, all the while you're being shot at.

    Greta, the Assassin
Portrayed By: Gabriella Wright
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/greta_payday2.png

A female assassin who appeared in episodes 5 and 6 of the web series. She was contracted by Bain to eliminate a traitor who intended to sell information about Crime.net.

  • Dark Action Girl: Dresses like one when visiting Gage, and acts....seductively, grabbing his groin while Gage resists her charms.
  • High Heel Hurt: Probably not wise to run with them on and carry a sniper rifle, eh Greta?
  • High-Heel Power: Very briefly sports high heels, but sheds them when obtaining her sniper rifle so she can run faster.
  • Irony: For a professional assassin judging by Bain's description, Greta clearly shows amateurish skill when it comes to hiding evidence, or even not drawing attention to herself. This is especially notable when she snipes an agent accompanying The Elephant, missing several times, and then blaming Gage for not zero'ing the scope to 200 yards (Gage had only done it to 100 yards).
  • Kick the Dog: She kills two random strangers just making out in an elevator, who otherwise had nothing to do with her mission. Something Bain (in-game anyway) would not approve of. Justified, sort of; most likely they'd reported her had she let them live considering she was holding a massive sniper rifle directly in front of them.
  • Put on a Bus: It was rumored that she was going to be another playable character, but she has not made any appearances in the game, or in any other material related to the game since.

    Aldstone, the Butler
Portrayed By: John Cleese

Hoxton's family butler. He's been tidying up the mansion in England while the master was away, but now that Hoxton bought a new safe house (after burning down the old one after being impatient with Bain's promise of redecoration that never happened), he decided to come to the housewarming party to spruce it up.

  • Cloud Cuckoolander: Years of tending an empty mansion while the master was in prison has not been good on his sanity.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He delivers jabs with all the low-keyness he can muster.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: To the extent that Aldstone can be called "evil", of course. He's fine with them stealing money and jewels, but cautions them about engaging in identity theft. Cut dialogue had him horrified that the crew had stolen from the poor upon completion of a trophy that required stealing a knife from a homeless person in Aftershock.
  • Identical Grandson: He looks nearly identical to his grandfather who participated in World War 2 alongside The Raid Gang as revealed in the Aldstone Heritage event.
  • Ink-Suit Actor: He looks very much like John Cleese, his VA.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: A lot of his quotes in the safehouse, for instance:
Aldstone: Videogames...video...games. I'm not sure I understand this concept...
  • Meta Guy: He mentions many of the various complaints and observations made by the fanbase over the years, including the seemingly arbitrary limits on cable ties, the inability to carry more than one bag at once, the constantly-breaking drills, and the hate toward microtransactions. He also congratulates the player on getting achievements.
  • Neat Freak: Very much. Not only does he mend the crew's clothes, he also polishes their ammo, cleans their grenades, and irons their money. He also doesn't like it when police raid the safe house; they tend to leave behind a mess, and he's the one who has to clean it up afterward.
  • Skewed Priorities: He doesn't seem to mind the robbery and murder aspects of the crew's exploits very much; it's when they leave a mess behind that he gets annoyed.
