    Anime Season 1
  • To think that someone who has just started to play a VRMMORPG game such as New World Online, raising only her VIT, getting lucky in obtaining rare items, and defeating a boss solo is what Maple/Kaede Honjou did.
  • Maple in her first battle royale event. She takes no damage for the whole event, manages to kill 2,028 players, and gets third place by sitting idly in place.
    • Viewers who were watching the event were shocked by Maple's crazy defense which even a Morning Star weapon just bounce off her without causing injury.
    • Eventually, every player in Maple's area decides to gang up on her, twice. But they couldn't land a scratch on her due to her defense and shield abilities, and end up being defeated by Maple's poison skills or devoured by her shield.
Maple: Sorry, it doesn't affect me. (proceeds to devour her attacker)
    • Maple's surprisingly brutal combination of AoE poison and Paralyze shout.
    • The Forum's response to Maple's placing. She is now recognized as what she is.
      All hail the walking fortress.
  • Episode 4: Maple and Sally manages to beat an ice bird boss named Silverwing, which previously defeated Chrome's party in a minute. Afterwards the devs are shown panicking because it was meant to be unbeatable.
  • Sally's PVP rampage in Episode 5. She effortlessly dodges every attack that comes her way in a stunning display of agility, and proceeds to completely dismantle a significant amount of players without so much as taking damage in the process. It even shows some snippets of what she looks like to the newbies in question - Sally may as well be an unstoppable monster from hell itself, even gaining a fearsome reputation after the event ends.
  • When compared to how it was accomplished in the light novel (with Maple having access to both the Loving Sacrifice and Atrocity abilities), Maple and the twins' Speed Run in the anime (which consisted of a Venom Capsule and the twins taking a potion that nullifies Poison effects) is actually much more impressive.
  • Maple eating a goddamn demon from the inside out.
    • In the same episode, her unlocking Machine God and having an aerial laser duel with the area boss.
  • Episode 9 is one big moment for Sally.
    • Sally's duel with Frederica. Frederica believes that she's revealed Coax Attack and Cascade (allows Sally to temporarily dodge/block all attacks respectively) and surrenders preemptively before she can reveal any more spells. However, she's none the wiser to the fact that both of those skills were fake - which not only means that Sally purposely fed her false information, but also means that Sally was able to replicate two skills that allow one to dodge or block all incoming attacks through raw skill alone.
    • When Frederica sets up her Multi-Barrier, which she never even wanted to use in the first place, Sally cuts through all the layers like warm butter.
    • Sally spends the entire episode on offense, running between Guilds and stealing orbs totally unopposed. She even gets a few guilds to fight each other! She even yoinks an Orb from under Mii's nose and gets off scot-free - even escaping as Mii burns a whole forest down in an attempt to catch her.
    • After a brief run-in with Dread, he activates his Godspeed skill, which makes him faster than the eye can see and allows him to hopelessly outmatch Sally's speed. However, Sally focuses for a moment - and then parries his next attack with her reflexes alone, despite being unable to even see where he is. Dread gets the message and gets the hell out of dodge before things escalate further.
  • Dread gets one for being arguably the first player able to match Sally. He not only matches her speed, but exceeds it.
  • The fourth event has a few moments that really showcase the power of NWO's three most prominent guilds.
    • Even with their ace Payne gone and Dread out on offense, Frederica and Drag effortlessly manhandle a legion of players after their orb. Drag decimates them with a rapid series of overwhelmingly powerful area-of-effect attacks, before Frederica casts Multi-Sunbeam to wipe out all the rest.
    • Mii single-handedly torches an entire enemy fortification in three moves, and while she fails to catch Sally, she burns down an entire forest with fire magic in the attempt. Meanwhile, Markus' trapping has made it impossible for anyone to even approach the Flame Emperors' orb.
    • The surprise attack that nailed Chrome made it look like he was going to die, until 'Dead or Alive' kicked in and terrified the ambushing players, leaving them open to a very much alive Chrome who slaughtered them all with no effort and recovered nearly all his health from the kills.
    • And of course, Maple Tree proves just how powerful they've become when a prospective guild runs into their base. Maple activates Loving Sacrifice to make the whole guild functionally immortal while Mai and Yui throw cannonballs, their obscene STR making each projectile a One-Hit Kill. Then, when they decide to flee, Kanade cuts them off with Paralyze Lasers so that Sally can finish them off. The icing on the cake is that when one of the members decides to do a suicide charge against Maple, she No Sells the attack, giving him about a second of Oh, Crap! as he realizes who he's messing with - just as Mai and Yui One-Hit Kill him with a double hammer strike.
  • Episode 10: Day 2 of Event Four.
    • Bonus points to Mai and Yui, who have 0 AGI, for holding off Dread and actually landing a lethal blow on him through teamwork. While he survives and kills them both, they stall him long enough for Maple to arrive and finish the job.
    • The Maple Tree guild enact Plan B: Maple Unleashed. With the entire world of the Fourth Event mapped out, all that's left is to attack. While it's already pretty badass in the anime, in the web novel note  we get an alternate perspective of one such attack on a guild:
Everyone looked lazily when they heard that there was only a single intruder. But one look at the intruder caused everyone to freeze in fear. This intruder didn’t even try to hide herself.
      Irrational Incarnate.
      The Symbol of Death.
      The Embodiment of Madness.
This single person, who walked forward without even a thought of defense... was Maple.
      Maple: Predator.
With every step she took, players were eaten and scattered.
With every step she took, death followed.
It was not a creature, but pure violence that crushed them head on.
They knew who she was, they know her stats, they know her methods.
And still they cannot stop her.
There was not even a shred of hope.
For this guild... death was certain.
    • Maple and the twins' march on the Flame Emperors. Between Maple's Loving Sacrifice and Predator skills and Mai and Yui's strength, Markus' traps would only slow down the inevitable confrontation.
  • Maple Tree vs. the Flame Emperors.
    • Despite being sorely outmatched in terms of power, the Flame Emperors still play smart, using knockback skills to knock Maple out of Loving Sacrifice range and rain hell on the twins when their cover is down. Maple eventually has to tell them to back off.
    • Maple shrugs off just about everything the Flame Emperor trio throws at her, but the latter is actually able to keep her far away enough to stop her from using any offensive skills.
    • Markus and Misery hold off Maple long enough for Mii to channel Flame Prison to trap Maple. While it actually does decent damage to her, and burns all of her Devours, Maple proceeds to rip through it with Machine God.
    • Cue Maple descending upon them like a god of war, wiping out everyone in the Flame Emperors with an indiscriminate barrage of gunfire. Even when Mii and her cohorts try to escape, she easily catches up to them and blows them to kingdom come. The way it's painted in the anime really makes Maple seem like the main villain!
    • After Misery and Markus are killed and the former uses her last moments to shield Mii, she realizes she's out of mana. So Mii pulls a Taking You with Me and launches a suicide attack at Maple...which she completely negates.
  • Even with only four members, the Holy Swords prove to be more than a match for the majority of Maple Tree, and hold the upper hand for a majority of the fight.
  • Payne quickly proves his worth as a Worthy Opponent for Maple and her guild. He swats aside Sally and runs through the guild to get at Maple without any problem, and is actually able to injure Maple through a combination of incredibly fast strikes, piercing attacks and sheer firepower. Once Frederica transfers the whole team's buffs to him, he unleashes an attack that would have been a One-Hit Kill if it weren't for Maple's Last Chance Hit Point.
  • The guild battle continues and Payne counters all of Maple's abilities and also instantly kills Iz and Kanade when they try to interfere with his battle. Payne then moves in to finish her with a final attack, but Maple uses Counter to reflect the hit. The resulting backlash forces Payne to activate his Last Chance Hit Point as well.
  • Maple then activates her Atrocity trump card, finishing off Payne and making short work of the Holy Swords before beginning Maple Tree's all out offensive against rival guilds.
  • Sally and Kanade abuse some skills to clone Atrocity Maple. The end result is a small army of Nigh-Invulnerable Kaiju rampaging around and wiping out countless guilds in a storm of limbs, lasers, and hellfire.
Dread: What the hell am I looking at?
Drag: The more I watch it, the more my brain melts.
  • The fourth NWO event was supposed to last 5 days. In large part due to the antics of Maple Tree, by the morning of the 4th day all's quiet on the game front - to the point that the devs simply decide to end the event early. So many guilds had been eliminated that most lacked the numbers to mount an attack. Even Flame Emperor had all of its members killed.

    Anime Season 2
  • Sally gets into a daily PvP duel she has with Frederica and this time is forced to use a new skill she earned in order to win. The unlock requirement for the skill is making it to a certain level without ever taking damage. This that, aside from the times Maple has tanked the blow for her, she's so good at the game that nothing has ever hit her. Maple may have established herself as immortal, but clearly Sally has equally distinguished herself as untouchable.
  • Payne and Maple team up for a brief time during the 6th event, with Maple pretty much stomping everything with Atrocity. When a horde of bee enemies flying too high for Maple to reach shows up, Payne simply jumps up to them and start leaping and weaving through the air in a way that Maple can't help but compare him favorably to Sally. He then proceeds to solo the queen bee boss after Maple gets herself covered in sticky honey.
  • The 7th event is a ten floor dungeon tower with selectable difficulty levels. Maple Tree, Holy Swords and Flame Emperor all challenge the hardest difficulty, with Maple and Sally challenging it as a duo separate from the rest of the guild. Highlights include:
    • The second floor boss is a book that steals skills. It hits Maple and steals almost all of her offensive skills, leaving Sally to pretty much solo a boss that can reproduce everything that Maple can do. And she does.
    • The ninth floor is a large void filled with floating platforms, and the boss is a giant pillar that floats in the middle of it. Close range attacks are met with a powerful knockback, and ranged attacks are copied by the boss, who proceeds to throw them back at the player who fired them. Maple gets around this by flying up above it with Machine God, using the Heavy Body to nullify the knockback, and then taking a page out of Gurren Lagann and drilling straight down through the boss.
    • The final boss is a knight straight out of a Souls-like RPG with pretty much everything that can counter Maple packed in: heavy knockback, fixed damage that ignores defense, speed and power enough that it can one-shot Atrocity Maple. It gives Maple and Sally their hardest fight since Silverwing, with the girls spending most of the fight waiting for Sally to coax out openings for them to unleash everything they've got at once. Eventually though, Sally gets cornered into an attack she can't dodge, forcing Maple to risk using Cover Move to block the attack. From there, Maple freezes the boss and prepares to use Break Core to try to finish the boss. However, the move has a 5 second cast and the freeze only lasts for 3 seconds, which Sally catches onto, prompting her to use her own skills to pin the boss for the few seconds she needs. It's still standing after that, but Sally is able to pull Maple to safety just in time before she personally delivers the last hit.
  • The 8th event:
    • The 8th event starts with a preliminary round to determine which difficulty level the players will tackle for the actual event, with the goal being to hunt down as many monsters as possible, with a bonus for surviving to the end of the round:
      • Maple starts off killing everything in her way as usual, until she ends up getting a debuff that causes monsters to run away from her, which obviously poses a problem for her and her non-existent AGI. Then she finds a monster attracting trap, which allows her to pretty much camp in one area for most of the event.
      • In her first NewWorld Online experience where she is (initially) not fighting alongside with her sister, Mai proves that with Tsukimi by her side, she is still a formidable opponent, as the two take out some monsters, along with Christmas Rose and his crew, before they reunite with Yui and Yukimi.
      • Izu and her fairy summon Fae have rigged a jungle with so many explosives, traps, and debuffs that when Izu starts the detonation via an electric current to one of the water strings Fae set up, it results in a massive explosion that would feel like something out of Vietnam.
      • Chrome and his partner Necro get surrounded, first by a pair of Golems and second by a swarm of monsters. After they parry the golems first attacks, they proceed to one-shot both groups with no difficulty at all.
      • Dread and Drag run into Kanade and decide to take him out. Kanade, seeing the disadvantageous match-up, attempts to flee, only for the two's tamed monsters to subdue every trick Kanade tries to escape, pinning him down for Dread to make the kill...only for it to be revealed that Kanade managed to use his own tamed monster's abilities to create a decoy, allowing him to escape with his life and information about what their tamed monsters can do.
      • Payne and Mii, both having secured a comfortable amount of kills to qualify for the top tier, decide to "check out the competition" so to speak and duel each other. The two fight to more or less a standstill, with Payne managing to counter or mitigate everything Mii can throw at him. However, it's clear that Payne is actively holding back so as to not expose too much of his arsenal. The battle ends with no contest due to being interrupted by Maple barging in from inside a crocodile's mouth shooting lasers everywhere.
    • The proper 8th event puts the players in the same map as before, only this time it's populated by more powerful monsters and the goal is to hunt down boss monsters to earn reward medals. In addition, even more powerful monsters begin to swarm the map at night, encouraging the players to build base camps to fortify themselves:
      • Maple Tree gets dropped right into a fight with two powerful sandworms, which takes the entire guild and their tamed monsters working together to take down, but as Sally notes after they don't drop any medals, these were only trash mobs. The dev team wasn't kidding when they promised to make their own monsters to counter the monster that is Maple.
      • Maple, Sally, Mai and Yui find some sort of moss giant that's resistant to anything that isn't fire attribute. However, upon defeating it, it divides into several smaller moss monsters, which requires the party to take refuge by flying away on Syrup. The twins then proceed to sweep through the rest of the battle by bombarding the hoard from above with Iz's bombs.
      • The other half of Maple Tree find themselves against a ninja type enemy that bombards them unseen with explosive kunai. To take it out, Iz bombs the whole field in order to take out anything that could be used as cover, then Kanade uses a spell to light the field up, exposing the boss with it's shadow, and allowing Kasumi and Chrome to go in for the kill.
      • When it gets dark out, Maple Tree decides to build a fort to wait out the night by taking advantage of a "fake dungeon" cave with a bunch of winding caverns. Thanks to Iz, they turn the central room into a cozy lounge, and rig up the caverns with loads of traps, ramparts, cannons and poison. When the night mobs come, the only thing that ends up getting through is one flying mob that's on its last legs, the floor is littered with drops from the dead mobs, and Maple Tree spends the night as if they were on a casual camping trip. The devs unironically call their setup a tower defense game even more deadly than any dungeon they ever made.
    • Day 2 of the event ups the difficulty by introducing a bevy of new complications in addition to more powerful monsters. The map and party messenger are disabled, the map starts shrinking, killing anyone caught in the shrinking border, and most importantly, every single player gets randomly teleported to another location. This forces everyone into some impromptu alliances for the shared goal of survival:
      • The main three guilds reveal that they all prepared measures in case they were forcefully separated. Maple literally blows herself up like a firework in the sky to give everyone a gathering point, Frederica reveals that she has a skill that lets her track down her fellow Holy Swords, and Markus has made tracking sigils for the Flame Emperors to carry that let Mii know where they are, letting her fly to them on Ignis.
      • Sally is pinned down by an Enemy Summoner that making imps faster than Sally can kill them, but is bailed out by Frederica, who teams up with her rival to take down the enemy.
      • Iz and Marcus get transported into a dungeon. In order to get past the boss, Iz creates a literal fortress, which Marcus teleports right in front of the boss with his traps, allowing Iz to blast the boss point blank with her cannons.
      • In the face of the increasing difficulty, the three guilds decide to team up for the remainder of the event and use Maple Tree's fort as their base of operations. The devs are naturally freaked out about this alliance, as they clearly didn't expect such a Dream Team to emerge during the event.
      • With the additional people, Iz expands the fort to include even more traps, lounge rooms for all three guilds, and, with Marcus's help, cameras so that they can monitor the caverns remotely. It's to the point where everyone feels comfortable letting the Holy Swords and Flame Emperor's remaining rank and file hold down the fort while everyone else continues to explore.
      • Payne and Mii team up to take on some leaked mobs and end up annihilating the entire passage (including Marcus's camera hilariously enough).

    Light/Web Novel
  • On the 1st day of the 4th event, Sally kept running for 12 hours to gather information of the entire map and get as much orbs she can. Eventually as she's starting to feel strong fatigue, she gets surrounded by about 100 members of the Order of the Holy Sword led by Frederica. But at this Die or Fly moment, her senses and reflexes gets pushed past their limits. Along with the advantage of tricking Frederica earlier and a strong determination to live, she puts up a good Last Stand killing about 30 members while constantly doing quick thinking on how best to dodge and attack.
    • Eventually she collapses after that. But at this moment Maple makes an explosive landing from the sky and protects Sally with Loving Sacrifice. Then she equips Machine God and after Sally grabs her flies into the air with her firepower, something only she can survive due to her high defense. Then she unleashes a hail of bullets and Hydra onto the ground killing almost all of the other 70 members. Sally believed her rescue wasn't possible due to how far out she was from others.
  • The additional bits the Light Novel included to the Clone Atrocity Maple attack. Before the clones, the numbers of the enemy guilds managed to knock Maple out of Atrocity. The Holy Swords wanted to take this chance to swoop in and get payback, but since she only used up her transformation for the day before, she can transform again, at which point they clone Maple to make the rampage worse. Then when that's over, everyone breathes a sigh of relief only to quickly remember that they still have to deal with Maple, now at full HP with all her other skills recharged.
  • The light novel's depiction of the moment where the three main guilds team up during the the 8th Event. Having set up a new beacon for the rest of Maple Tree to follow in the form of one of Maple's [Poltergeist]-based light beam swords and a tea party set up on Syrup's back, Maple and Mai prepare themselves for another possible attack from winged monsters that get too close to Syrup's path, only to find out that the creatures approaching them isn't the enemy, but rather Ignis and Ray, with their respective trainers, the surviving members of their guild, and the rest of Maple Tree in tow.
  • The ending of the 8th event. A giant devil is summoned that's big enough that 10 Atrocity Maples could climb it to attack. It also throws down meteor showers throughout the whole map, along with summoning special monsters that buffs it. It takes the combinded effort of the members of the 3 guilds to weaken it, and the final blow is a combinded attack from Maple, Sally, Mii, Payne and their pets.
  • The final raid boss of the 9th event takes a step further. This one takes the team work of the 5 major guilds to be defeated.
    • The initial raid boss isn't something to scoff either, with Maple, Mai and Yui having a Big Damn Hero moment as they, coming to the aide of Kanade, fall from the air (while protected by Maple's Loving Sacrifice) and proceed to subdue the giant squid that was threatening him and the members of Rapid Fire via Maple's Tentacle ability and the twins' Octo-Hammer wielding.
