This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:
- creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
- moving discussion pages
- moving reviews
Please keep the following guidelines in mind:
- Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
- Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
- If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
- We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
- If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
- If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
- To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
- Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
- Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
- Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.
NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

Will do. How does it mess up CTRL+F searches though?
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM Drafts10570: Thing is, in 10560 crazysamaritan specifically said that Aspen has year-round skiing, and cited it as one reason why it wasn't stupid of Ana Steele to think they were going skiing in August. Therefore, Christian's dismissal of the idea of August-skiing should count as Artistic License – Geography.

For Live-Action TV, for Supernatural, it's Alastair, not Alistair (please also make it sadistic).

CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsThe extra spaces cause the wick to evade CTRL+F. Anyone searching for wicks is going to have the search bar filled with the article name as one word, since that's how wicks are usually formatted.
For example, if I'm searching for Complete Monster wicks, I'll have "CompleteMonster" in my CTRL+F bar. Any wicks formatted as "{{Complete Monster}}" will throw off the search because of the extra space.
Which causes no end of frustration if, during a wick clean, one stumbles across a page where every trope name is formatted {{like this}}.
On topic, sorry if this has been brought up before, but should Literature.Gor have a trope section for the MST3K episode riffing on Outlaw of Gor? The episode has its own recap page, after all, and such tropes as appear in it are already listed there.
(And while I'm at it, the entries for Amazon Brigade, Author Appeal, Crystal Spires and Togas, Deadpan Snarker, Decoy Leader, Fetish-Fuel Future, Flame Bait, Gladiator Revolt, Reactionary Fantasy, Sex Slave, Sufficiently Advanced Alien, and Wandering Minstrel are all Zero Context Examples; I don't know what the policy is for those on locked pages. Are they commented out, deleted, or just left as they are?)
EDITED TO ADD: Yes, when searching the source. That's how wick cleaning is done. Otherwise the wick cleaners would miss potholes or sinkholes to the deleted or renamed trope name.

You mean when searching the source? Because searching just the page there's the space anyway
At Literature A To L, please rewrite this entry as follows (for Jack Reacher):
- The Visitor note : The killer, a cold-blooded Diabolical Mastermind, turns out to be FBI Profiler Julia Lamarr, who uses her position to cover up her crimes. The killer murders at least four women (and is in the process of murdering another when stopped by Reacher) by hypnotizing them to swallow their own tongues, leaving them to suffocate slowly to death and leaving no evidence. One victim, as well as the true target, was Lamarr’s stepsister, who was chosen to receive Julia’s father’s inheritance, even though she was going to share it with Lamarr, who only cares about itself and revels in her intelligence throughout the process.

CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsBecause this is information that varies depending on year/people. Snowmass itself shows how much snow accumulation is going on, and a different link (which I should've used) shows prior snow depth. The ski-focused operations in Aspen apparently stops in the summer, but it can still snow in August. Most ski resorts also have snow machines, to add more snow to the trails. Depending on how close to the poles you are, and how high your altitude is, the snow never has to melt.
https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090915141325AArGwcI
So it isn't ignorant to guess that a ski resort in the Rockies is going to be open when tourists are visiting, regardless if they're right or wrong.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.But it's preferable to use the search function when you're already on the way of editing the page. Having to Ctrl+F when not editing the page means you have to remember where the links are, which can get quite annoying.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300@10578: Done, but I am not sure what you are asking for in regards to "sadist".
@10578: No, it doesn't need tropes that appear in a different work; zapped it. As for the ZCEs, I guess you could post them on the discussion page and then ask here for their deletion from the main page.
@10581: Done.
@10582: Too much contradictory information, there. Plus, I wonder about the safety of such a thing. Gonna decline that request.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman:) My post was in support of your choice to not make the edit.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.But in the book, Christian makes it clear that there's no skiing in Aspen in August. Even though in real life there is, and Christian — who's been in Aspen several times before — should know that. Doesn't that count as Artistic License – Geography? Sorry if I'm coming off as a whiner, I just don't get why it doesn't qualify. Real-life Aspen has year-round skiing, Fifty Shades in-universe Aspen does not have year-round skiing. Surely that's a case of Artistic License?
This is information that varies depending on year/people. The ski-focused operations in Aspen apparently stops in the summer, but it can still snow in August.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Here, for Alastair, you can just copy and paste this. It was for Supernatural, not Passions (Passions is indeed Alistair). My bad.
- Alastair is Hell's Grand Inquisitor, and is responsible for supervising the torture of newly-arrived souls. When Dean arrives in Hell, Alastair tortures him for thirty years, offering to stop if Dean will accept his offer and torment other souls on Alastair's behalf. When Dean accepts, one of the seals imprisoning Lucifer is broken, a fact that Alastair frequently taunts Dean about during their subsequent encounters. During the hunt for Anna Milton, Alastair captures Ruby and begins cutting pieces away from her with her own knife, before trying to overpower and murder Castiel. He murders several Reapers later in the series, and does his best to kill Sam and Dean and banish Castiel, before being finally put out of commission. An utterly sadistic bully, Alastair is possibly the worst demon in the series.

CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsRight, the ZCEs on Literature.Gor have been copied and pasted to the discussion page. So if they can now be deleted from the work page, here they are:
- Amazon Brigade
- Author Appeal
- Crystal Spires and Togas
- Deadpan Snarker
- Decoy Leader
- Fantastic Rank System
- Fetish-Fuel Future
- Flame Bait (is this even a trope? I thought it was an index)
- Gladiator Revolt
- National Weapon
- Planetary Romance
- Reactionary Fantasy
- Sex Slave
- Spiritual Sequel
- Sufficiently Advanced Alien
- Wandering Minstrel
From Literature I'd like The Baby-Sitters Club deleted and from Film I'd like A Knight's Tale deleted. Five-Man Band discussion

Please add the Series/ namespace to Main.Supernatural on Website.Tumblr, and change Main.Chronicles Of Thomas Covenant to Literature.The Chronicles Of Thomas Covenant on Main.Hollywood Tactics.
Is non-camel-case still okay on the YMMV pages?
- From here:
- Griffin goes to Film P To Z.
- Zytle goes to the Arrow tree at Film P To Z (between Mathis and Brickwell).
Not really, for the same reasons it's not really okay anywhere else - it just makes wick cleanup more difficult than it needs to be. There's really no need to use double curly braces just to make the first letter of each word lower case.
Did the latest requests, save for Zytle as I can't find the article.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI personally think lower case looks better, but whatever.
My bad again; Zytle goes to Live-Action TV (Alistair from Passions also needs to be back the way it was, spelling-wise).

CM Dates; CM Pending; CM Drafts@10594 Thanks, Septimus.
(I see Lord Voldemort is back for another round, by the way.)
Argh. At Marvel and Icon, for Iron Man, please get rid of the extra brackets for Would Hurt a Child.
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsMinor thing, but in Adventure Time, please delete the line:
- This alternative explanation for the origin of Jake's shapeshifting.
This explanation has been Jossed; a 6th-season episode explains his shapeshifting. He is a shapeshifter-dog hybrid created when a shapeshifting monster infected his father Jonathan's head with venom; Jake emerged from Jonathan's head Chest Burster-style, although thankfully non-lethally.
^ Not to mention breaking Weblinks Are Not Examples.
Anyway, please make the following changes to No Real Life Examples, Please!:
Impossible in RL:
* InvisibleToNormals
* PsychicLink
* SuperpowerLottery
Morality tropes:
* HeelFaithTurn
* ThereAreNoGoodExecutives
Narrative tropes:
* ExtraStrengthMasquerade
* LivingInAFurnitureStore
* SerialEscalation
