Shapeshifting Lover is a very specific kind of Older Than Dirt folklore, that is why it's not a type of Shapeshifting Squick.
But now that you mention it, I agree that this isn't a faithful snowclone of the Squick title.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I like the second option. It'll be a bit Harder, but also Much cleaner.

Also, how does Traumatic Transformation (I think it was that) fit in?
Fight smart, not fair. You mean Transformation Trauma (Body Horror) ?
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Got the words backwards it seems. I did mean Body Horror sense as in seeing bones shift and what not since that would be really eerie to see.
Fight smart, not fair.If we decide to rename, I would like to suggest Salacious Shapeshifting as the new title.

Each night, he abandons the trappings of civilization. Each morning, he repairs the front door.Transformation Trauma is squicky, so it should fit in a rewritten Shapeshifting Squick. Of course, it might be Fetish Fuel for someone with the right "open-minded" outlook, so it could also fit in Salacious Shapeshifting.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Transformation Trauma is not a similar concept to Shapeshifting Squick at all, they're about as related as the brother-in-law of a second cousin (twice removed).
Remember, TT is about the Transformation Sequence itself, while SS is a more general "hey, what if...?"

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Well, numbers haven't changed much, +1 wikilink and +27 inbounds — the latter of which is about one per day, actually.
Anyone willing to sample for misuse?
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Shapeshifting Seducer has been launched at some point last month. There seems to be overlap between that trope and Shapeshifting Squick.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. The two options are basically the same, only one creates a new trope in its place, and I'm not sure it's one we need. Too Specific (why not Power Squick Potential?) and might turn out to be the worst kind of Audience Reaction.
Assuming there's enough misuse to justify a rename, of course.
It's not quite "rename due to misuse", but rather "rename because the title is so overly specific as to completely ignore a major part of the trope's actual definition", in this the Power Perversion Potential / Fetish Fuel.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.More like "rename because the title is so broad and offbase as to say nothing about the actual definition".
Still, I'd like to see misuse. 79/653 isn't super fantastic, but coupled with how substantially I see it appear it gives me pause before I call for a rename.
Can we get a wicks check on aisle 4?
I think that since we have very few wicks, and this title is inaccurate, it's safe to change it.
There has been a request to clock the thread again.
So, I think we should change the title and Trope Transplant this into a new trope. Who agrees with me?
Either Salacious Shapeshifting or Shapeshifting Perversion Potential is a good name.

We still haven't seen a wick check.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Less than 100? Sure, I've got some time. But go make sure we've got some Brain Bleach in the emergency kit first....
Move along, nothing to see here
- Lone Wolf: "The Helghasts, who are capable of mimicking human form, and are immune to non-magical weapons. Considering that their preferred form of attack is choking victims with their skeletal hands, it's probably best that Lone Wolf never invokes the Shapeshifting Squick trope."
Hot Shapeshifter On Wailord Action
- The Perry Bible Fellowship: In the comic "Eden", God takes the form of Adam and engages in sex with Eve....
- The Fair Folk: "...or they’d trample fields, sour beer, render cattle barren (or used their shape-shifting ability to impregnate them with mutated offspring)..."
- Taste the Rainbow: "Of course, dragons also seem to breed with anything that moves..."
- OurDragonsAreDifferent.Tabletop Games: "And, of course, some of these can not only shapeshift into humans, but breed with humans whilst transformed, giving us half-dragons."
- Really Gets Around: "Loki is, of course, a pathological liar and has his own history. He impregnates a female giant thrice, which results in Fenrir, Jormungandr and Hel. He gets impregnated by a male horse, which results in Sleipner...."
- Our Dragons Are Different: "...and may even assume human form. The latter is the reason why there are half-dragons in Fantasy."
- Older Than Print: "Foxes in Japanese folklore who seduced men, then turned back into foxes after a one night stand."
- Lost Souls MUD: "Players seem oddly fascinated by the... possibilities presented by shoggothim." (?)
A Seductive Shapeshifter
- Characters.X Men Villains: "Mystique uses her ability for seduction purposes a lot."
Sounds like general Squick related to Shapeshifting
- Radar.Western Animation: "Inque proceeds to ooze out of her clothes..."
- Top Ten: "M'rgalla Qualtz/Vigilante from Venus, a seeming Green-Skinned Space Babe porn star and former prostitute whose true form would give a Cosmic Horror nightmares."
- Characters.Norse Mythology: "Well since frost giants are shapeshifters, who knows if that's his real form?"
Squick And Wrong
- Shapeshifters Do It for a Change: "...others just find the idea that the cute girl they're flirting with is sometimes a guy somewhat offputting." (Dropped A Bridget On Him?)
Squishy cases
- Voluntary Shapeshifting: "In one scene Peter requests her to transform into increasingly bizarre forms to please his various fetishes"
- The Dragon Knight: "Implicitly Played for Laughs at the start of the second book. Jim awakens to find himself turned into a dragon once more... while in bed, with a naked Angie sleeping soundly next to him. Getting up without waking her proves tricky."
- Shipper on Deck: "In a somewhat weirder incident in Days, Xigbar gives Roxas dating advice for impressing Xion. The catch, of course, is that this relationship fast turns into one huge Shapeshifting Squick, and Roxas hasn't a clue. Given that Xigbar knew this, he was probably just being a dick."
- Shapeshifting Seducer: "If the fact that they're being seduced by a shapeshifter doesn't give them Shapeshifting Squick..."
- Shapeshifter Showdown: "Child Ballad #44 ('The Two Magicians') is all about this, but with 'duel' replaced by 'attempted rape'."
- Sense Freak: "Compare Hugh Mann, Showing Off the New Body, and (ahem) Shapeshifting Squick..."
- Right for the Wrong Reasons: "In the Wild Cards novel Inside Straight, Hardhat deduces that Noel Matthews's hidden superpower is shapeshifting because Noel was able to pass as an attractive woman during the exercise, and Hardhat would rather deal with Shapeshifting Squick than have a Bridget Dropped on Him."
- Ranma One Half: "Kiima transforming into Akane and then instigating naked cuddling with Ranma in the final storyline."
- Mother of a Thousand Young: "Typically, the mother is a foul beast, or a diabolical deceiver of would-be mates, sometimes even having the power of shapeshifting, thus allowing for greater variety of half-breed children (and infinite amounts of Shapeshifting Squick)."
- Characters.Mortal Kombat Mythologies Sub Zero: "Her 'human' form is a disguise that she prefers to appear as, although she's lost control of this on at least one occasion. Possibly crosses over with Shapeshifting Squick and Hot Skitty-on-Wailord Action, seeing as she's Sub-Zero's Implied Love Interest, and she's a demon..."
- Mister Seahorse: "In Exalted, Luna, the shapeshifting goddess of the moon and patron of the Lunar Exalted, has a form called the Two-Faced Bride, an aspect that apparently represents fertility and deceit and which usually appears as a pregnant human of any age and either gender. Its apparent preferred form is a pregnant male youth, and it's mentioned that one city was actually visited by the Two-Faced Bride in the guise of a pregnant boy. The various bits of shapeshifting squick that are detailed for the Lunar Exalted implies that they, too, are capable of this."
- Mallrats: "Brodie thinks entirely too much about the love life of Reed Richards and Susan Storm." (non Shapeshifters)
- Legion Of Super Heroes: "In fact, in the threeboot, someone suggests that Chameleon is not attracted to non-shapeshifters. Averted in the original continuity, though, where Colossal Boy and Chameleon Girl (a different character) have a happy marriage."
- Characters.Legion Of Super Heroes (same context)
Not enough information
- The KA Mics: "Loki during the Squirrel Wars."
- The Faerie Path: "What Ashling does to Edric, as a test of Tania's love and loyalty."
- Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country (no context)
- FanFic.Passion Night (no context)
- Order Of The Stick Tropes M-Z: "Nale and Sabine."
- Merry Gentry: "Shapeshifting Squick Due to Shapeshifting Lover"
Too Much Information
(nothing, phew)Okay, stopping with L.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Wow. It's all over...
^ My first reaction to that was whether it's "all over" or "all over"?
For the most part I'm not even trying to classify them as 'correct' or 'misuse', just trying to sort the contexts into categories. The classical Japanese fox, for one, is a mix of both HSOWA and Shapeshifting Lover.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Reed Richards is a shapeshifter. Or at least he has a limited form of it. He can change the physical shape of his body. The Mallrats one is right.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dick
Problem: The trope title suggests squicky / Nausea Fuel-inducing use of shapeshifting powers. However, the description and laconic definition say that the trope is about Power Perversion Potential of Shapeshifting, with equal chances of being Fetish Fuel or squick / Nausea Fuel / Nightmare Fuel, depending on individual taste. Also, it's not quite clear to me why Shapeshifting Lover is considered separate from this trope (as per their article descriptions).
Proposed solutions:
Wicks: 79. Inbound: 598.
