The caption for the Tactical Rock–Paper–Scissors image.

"Not shown above: Frederick"

Having played Fire Emblem: Awakening, and having seen that Brawl in the Family comic, I found it hilarious.

[up]The only problem I'd have with that is that Frederick is actually more of a Crutch Character. That picture is pretty good though.

More related to the discussion, the note on the quote for Clothes Make the Maniac made me chuckle.

This entry on Unintentionally Sympathetic:

There's a commercial for Frosted Mini-Wheats depicting a boxing match between a Mini-Wheat and a Honey Nut Cheerio. The Cheerio is half the size of the Mini-Wheat, showing it lacks fiber. As the match begins, the Cheerio faints before a punch is thrown. The problems? One: not just the boxer, but the announcers, the referee, the press, and every single member of the audience is also a Mini-Wheat, so the odds of the Cheerio getting a fair treatment come across as nil; if it somehow won, the riotous crowd would probably kill it. Two: this is a boxing match, but the Cheerio has no arms or hands. Three: upon proclaiming his "victory," the Mini-Wheat tries to act modest but just comes across as smugly falsely modest. It's not hard to feel that the Cheerio either fainted from terror at being stuck in a match it can't win surrounded by a huge horde of enemies, or that it threw the fight to get out of there alive. Then again, it doesn't even have eyes or a mouth. It could have just fallen over because it was a regular, non-anthropomorphic Cheerio. Who the hell booked that match, anyway?

It really does look like they put an inanimate cheerio on the ring and it just fell over. [lol]

Easy-Mode Mockery mentions how a Star Wars game has an Achievement for beating the game on a low difficulty level. Said Achievement has a picture of Jar Jar Binks in its icon, which is described as just mean on the page. It is a pretty low blow.

I couldn't help but have a bit of a laugh at an entry in the Nightmare Fuel page of Warhammer 40,000:

While we're at it, let me remind you how potentially dangerous Orks can be. Please meet Gharkul Blackfang, an Ork Warboss encountered during the Great Crusade. His empire was assaulted by 3 Astartes legions with Primarchs present. Gharkul forces had them on the verge of defeat, badly wounding Mortarion and pushing back Rogal Dorn and Horus Lupercal, to the point that the Emperor himself had to intervene. Emperor's flagship provided close fire support while 10 thousands Custodians and Emperor himself entered the fray breaking the tide. While that particular threat is long over, nothing really stops another such warboss from emerging. At the same time nothing 40k Imperium has, would be able even to slow such threat down.

I know that's supposed to be a scary thought, but I immediately recognized that as the Battle of Gyros-Thravian, thanks to the Big E's hilarious recollection/retelling in If the Emperor Had a Text-to-Speech Device.

"The only thing I remember about that battle is that Rogal Dorn, Mortarion, and fucking Horus were being dominated by stupid Orks. When their defeat was imminent, I came along and saved the fucking day with my massive army of golden people, killing 100,000 Orks at the cost of 3 of our own."

Properly Paranoid:

The human immune system is, in many ways, a totalitarian police state, with many mechanisms of identifying anything potentially treasonous (cancer cells, virus-infected cells, etc.) or alien (bacteria, parasites, etc.) The standard procedure for anything that fits those categories that isn't a member of the commensal flora/slave underclass is to immediately kill it, and considering what allowing pathogens to fester in the body can result in, it's a pretty good mindset. As is also the case with totalitarian police states, it can get overzealous and attack healthy cells or things that are harmless. The former is called an autoimmune disease, and the latter is called an allergy. Sufficiently serious cases of either one can be fatal.

That's actually a really good metaphor, but "commensal flora/slave underclass" makes me want to write up the Commensalist Manifesto. [lol]

From Rad Racer:

* Totally Radical: The very name of the game, Rad Racer. A game that was, fittingly enough, produced by a company named Square.

That said, the title fits. The game is pretty rad.
