SlimKirby (whose real name is Rob) (born December 26, 1988) is a professional Let's Player on YouTube. His early videos were poor in quality as he recorded his tv screen with a web camera, but he soon upgraded to a capture card to record his footage for his Let's Plays. Currently, his most popular Let's Plays are The Simpsons Hit & Run (which has racked a total of over 10,000,000 video views altogether) and the Mario Party franchise. He has over 90,000 subscribers and over 76,000,000 video views.

He also started a group collaboration of LP's on YouTube known as Crystal Star Studio along with YouTube users: GaiaCrusher9, KManrules1331, MegaFreak400, PowerToMario, ShadowMarioXLI, and ThePastaKing. However, this channel has currently ceased production of videos. He has also been a part of The Game Station (also known as TGS) since 2010.

SlimKirby provides the following tropes:

  • Accidental Misnaming: During his playthrough of Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones:
    • Occasionally he calls Artur Lucius by mistake.
    • At one point, he nearly calls Seth Sans. Cue a photoshop of Seth with Sans's head with "Megalovania" in the background.
  • Arc Number: He's really not a fan of the number 41.
  • Back from the Brink: This LP of Mario Party 3! CHANCE TIME ACTUALLY WORKED! ON THE LAST TURN!!!!
  • Badass Long Robe: He wears one in a trailer for his MP2 finale. He used it for a while as an avatar.
  • Butt-Monkey: SlimKirby really hates Peach. Or what he'd rather call her, a bitch.
    • In fact, he has created a song just to describe her suckiness. And it's awesome.
  • Call-Back: When he plays Boo's Horror Castle in Mario Party 9, he wins by one star and whispers "YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!" in the same intonation as when he yelled it when he lost by one coin in one of the Mario Party 5 boards.
  • Catchphrase: "Hello everybody, SlimKirby here."
    • "I'm gonna bet the farm" was one for a while after he did a co-op vid of Game Guy's room in MP3.
    • "Knowing my luck..."
    • "I'm not gonna cry about it" is one he uses to downplay a very optional extra the game has to offer. (Or after he's suffered horribly at the hands of unfair AI assaults.)
    • "VIDEO GAME LOGIC."
  • Clip Show: Occasionally, after hitting certain milestones, he releases special montages depicting clipped moments from his projects starting with after the montage video before.
  • The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: Happens ALL THE FREAKING Time, even when it's not lag related.
    • Oddly, he seems to get his stolen from Boo by the computer players In Mario Party, even though he's not in first. The time he actually calls the CPU on it, though, he actually is in first with a star, but has less coins.
    • Happens the most with Princess Peach. In the Mario Party 8 playthrough of King Boo's Haunted Hideaway, right after Peach steals his only star on the last turn and wins the game, he finally broke and said that Peach would never re-appear in his board playthroughs for the game.
  • Damsel Scrappy: In-universe he treats Peach like this most of the time, save for Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario RPG.
  • Double Entendre: He's particularly egregrious about the number 69 in his Mario Party playthroughs, though he has lightened up on it recently.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He prefers to only use his face cam when filming videos where use of a face cam is actually appropriate, as he states in his reaction video for Emile losing to AI Mario by one Coin at Toy Dream.
  • Funny Background Event: He noticed the Miis based off Colonel Sanders and Madame Wario are both dancing together and finds it hilarious.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Typically, he refrains from cussing in his LP's, usually limiting himself to "shoot" or "dang it".
  • Heroic BSoD: He gets this whenever he gets REALLY cheated. Examples include "ONE COIN!" and the rabbit race in Donkey Kong 64, which seemed to cheat blatantly. Also, when his GCN crashed after he was about to win a Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance chapter, he lost it.
  • Hollywood Tone-Deaf: Sometimes he sings in his videos, and his videos sometimes think of his singing as such.
  • Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy: His Donkey Kong 64 replay is full of this.
  • Ironic Echo: "I am not doing a Let's Play of Radiant Dawn." Two years later...
Slim: Hm...I am such a liar.
  • Lame Pun Reaction: In his playthrough of Pokémon Blue, he named Poliwag — his favorite Pokemon — "SwimKirby". He repeatedly chuckles about how dorky that is.
  • Long Runner: He's been doing it for 8 years, with very little delays between projects. He really devotes a lot of time and care into it.
  • Precision F-Strike: It's very rare for him to swear, but when he does, it's really appropriate.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: During Kirby's Avalanche, Slim regales the story of how, as a child, he placed a strip of tape over the red light of the SNES to stop it blowing up overnight. It didn't blow up... because the average SNES wouldn't blow up anyway.
  • Running Gag:
  • Ship Tease: Done in a joking fashion between him and his good friend Madame Wario (such as Madame nicknaming the Pink Yoshi in Yoshi's Story "my lover, Slim Kirby"). Some newcomers to either LPer's channel have mistaken this for them actually being a couple, but it's really just a Running Gag.
  • Theme Song: During the time he had an opening to his videos, he had a remix of the Deal or No Deal theme alongside videos from Kirby: Right Back at Ya!.
  • Throwing the Fight: Played for laughs in his WarioWare playthroughs. Once he reaches the required points for one of the hosts, Slim throws the rest of the microgames on purpose. He can be creative: one instance has him yell "No!" for a microgame from Mike in Touched! that requires silence.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: He and ShadowMario41 constantly take potshots at each other in their vids, and to the Maze game, a game maker game SM41 made, but they are actually really close friends and the makers of their own Co-op Let's Play channel, Crystal Star Studios.
  • We Didn't Start the Billy Joel Parodies: He ended his Yoshi's Island playthrough with "We Didn't Start the Let's Play.
