Appeared in Rayman Origins

    Teensy Queen
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rl_teensy_queen.png
A female royal Teensie who made her debut in Origins. She seems to have a crush on Rayman.
  • Action Girl: She’s been playable in each of her appearances thus far, so she’s clearly not afraid to get her hands dirty.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Her character blurb describes her as having a crush on Rayman, her childhood hero, while ignoring the crushes her fellow Teensies have for her. Unfortunately, Rayman hasn't noticed yet, and probably never will.
  • The Fashionista: Implied. If you pull on the Bubble Dreamer's beard while playing as her, he'll praise her fashion style.
  • Hero Worship: Of Rayman, which later turned into a Precocious Crush.
  • Pink Is Feminine: Her outfit is entirely colored in pink to show that she's a female Teensie.
  • Precocious Crush: Has one for Rayman, who is chronically a few centuries older than her, yet he physically looks like a teenager.

    Mister Death
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/deadman_6.png
A Grim Reaper-esque figure who takes over Goth Teensy's job as guardian of the Land of the Livid Dead. Unlike his predecessor, who is supposed to keep residents of the Land of the Livid Dead from escaping, he won't let anyone enter it. However, he will let you in if you give him his missing Skull Teeth.
  • Death Is a Loser: Rayman's take on the Grim Reaper is the least threatening version ever. He resembles an old man who's missing his dentures and he waves his scythe like an old man waves his cane.

    Raymesis
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dark_rayman_1558.png

Voiced by: Doug Rand

In attempt to tarnish Rayman's reputation, Raymesis dresses like him and stalks the Glade of Dreams smashing things! A desperate case in need of serious anger management.
In-game description, Rayman Legends, Rayman Adventures

  • Evil Knockoff: He deliberately invokes this to tarnish Rayman's reputation.
  • Floating Limbs: A trait he shares with the original Rayman.
  • Internal Homage: Raymesis' colour scheme is based on that of the Bad Rayman seen in the original game.
  • Promoted to Playable: In Rayman Origins and Rayman Jungle Run on iOS.
  • Sudden Name Change: The Bubble Dreamer calls him "DarkRay" in Origins (though it can be a nickname), and finally, he is called "Raymesis" in Legends. However in the spinoff iOS games he's still called Dark Rayman
  • The Un-Favorite: Bubble Dreamer/Polokus is pretty mean to him in Origins, making fun of his ugliness.

    Glombrox
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/glombrox.png

Voiced by: Doug Rand

This once great hero has been possessed by Darktoons, and now spends his time trying to scare everyone. But it doesn't work so well as many people mistake him with Globox...
In-game description, Rayman Legends

  • Acrofatic: Just like Globox himself, Glombrox is incredibly fast despite his wide girth.
  • Bragging Rights Reward: Only unlocked upon freeing every single Electoon in Origins, at which point you've likely already done everything the game has to offer anyway.
  • Demonic Possession: His Legends description reveals that he's possessed by Darktoons.
  • Evil Counterpart: Essentially Globox, but evil.
  • Fallen Hero: Apparently used to be a brave hero before he got possessed by Darktoons.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: His description alleges that he's evil, though in-game, he's on the side of the heroes.

The Nymphs

    General Tropes
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_rayman_origins_nymphs_7917.jpg
A group of fairies who Rayman must rescue throughout the game in order to gain a new power. They debuted in the original Rayman game and reappeared in the Origins continuity, where they are rewritten as sisters of Betilla the Fairy, who is the oldest.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Holly and Edith are the only Nymphs who have dark skin.
  • Animal Motifs: Only Holly, Edith, and Annetta wear things that represent the creatures of their realms. Betilla and Helena and Fee avert this.
  • Damsel in Distress: All of them must be rescued when they are captured by Darktoons.
  • Fairy Sexy: They're fairies and provide Fanservice along with additional powers.
  • Hartman Hips: Their hips are as wide as their shoulders.
  • Ms. Fanservice: All of the Nymphs are scantily-clad faeries in the Origins continuity, and physically they're not so hard on the eyes, either.
  • Older Than They Look: All of them are Really 700 Years Old, but they look like teenage girls or young women.
  • Pig Latin: It's how they talk.
  • Punny Name: Most of them have a name that matches the world they're found in.
  • Put on a Bus: All of them, save for Voodoo Mamma, are not mentioned in Legends.
  • Walking Spoiler: Voodoo Mamma.
  • What Could Have Been: A seventh Nymph named "Wendy Weather" was created, but she was scrapped during the final stages of the game.

    Holly Luya
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/22537ed83b4fdc6d41ec2516b9fc7394.png
  • Ambiguously Brown: Has brown skin that's a shade darker than her sister Edith's.
  • Animal Motifs: Birds. Her skull hat resembles a bird, and her new ability is flight (or hovering in Rayman's case).
  • Blue Is Heroic: A blue-clad, blue-haired Nymph who helps Rayman learn how to fly after she is rescued from Darktoons.
  • Facial Markings: The blue markings on her face resemble those worn by tribal characters.
  • Punny Name: Her name is spelled and pronounced similarly to "Hallelujah", a religious praise. Since she expressed joy upon being rescued by Rayman, it could also count as a Meaningful Name.
  • Video Game Flight: Grants the player the power to glide.

    Edith Up
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/304370283044827d4991db2a0ccb1381.png

  • Ambiguously Brown: Has brown skin that's a shade lighter than her sister Holly's
  • Animal Motifs: Dragons. Her skull hat and blonde hair resembles a dragon breathing fire.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: Is the thickest of all the Nymphs, but her outfit is just as revealing.
  • Big Eater: Implied, with her title being "The Gourmet Fairy", and having a more heavyset body than her fellow Nymphs. Her world, the Gourmand Lands, is a kitchen filled with food and pots. Even her name is a pun on "eat it up".
  • Big Eyes, Little Eyes: Has the smallest eyes of all the Nymphs.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: A blonde-haired fairy who helps Rayman learn how to change his size after she is rescued from Darktoons.
  • Punny Name: Her name sounds like "eat it up".
  • Red Is Heroic: Her costume and hat are colored red, and her world, the Gourmand Lands, is colored with a red palette. She's a heroic ally of Rayman who helps him in return for rescuing her.
  • Sizeshifter: Grants the player the power to change size.

    Annetta Fish
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/0be08b616c4c443a96da4ffc17172e16.png

  • Animal Motifs: Fish. Her hat resembles a fish skull, and the ability she gives Rayman after he rescues her is to swim underwater.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Her clothes are colored blue, and she's an ally of Rayman's who helps him learn how to swim underwater.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: Not really one, but evokes one.
  • Punny Name: A play on "a net of fish", which fits since the world she represents is called the "Sea of Serendipity".
  • Seashell Bra: Wears a single clamshell as a pasty.
  • Stripperific: May have the skimpiest of the Nymph's outfits.
  • You Have Researched Breathing: Grants the player the power to swim underwater.

    Helena Handbasket
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/06dbf7ab8a43ac69284a50dc31247070.png

  • Blue Is Heroic: A blue-clad Nymph who helps Rayman learn how to scale walls and ceilings after she is rescued from Darktoons.
  • Exposed to the Elements: Her fur attire just consists of a short skirted tunic and hat as well as a patch of fur around her ankles and wrists, leaving her arms, shoulders, upper chest and legs exposed to the snowy weather around her.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She has blonde hair, and she aids Rayman by giving him a new ability upon freeing her from the Darktoons.
  • Le Parkour: Grants the player the power to run up walls and ceilings.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name is Greek for "light" or "bright". She has light blonde hair and her clothes are more light-colored than her sisters'.
  • Pretty in Mink: Because she represents a cold and snowy realm, her attire and hat is made of fur.
  • Punny Name: Her name is a play on "To hell in a handbasket". Real subtle, Ubisoft.

    Voodoo Mamma (SPOILERS)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/01baf36bd04af1389525935a9f918653.png
The last nymph Rayman must save. Unlike the others, she hasn't been kidnapped, but outright transformed into a monster, most likely by the Magician or the Bubble Dreamer's nightmares.
  • Beat the Curse Out of Him: What you have to do to turn her back to normal.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Her French name, Fée de la Mort, translates to "Death Fairy" or "Fairy of Death".
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Despite her creepy appearance even in the Nymph form, she is not a bad person.
  • Extra Eyes: Her monster form has multiple eyes that fall off when Rayman punches her in the face.
  • Forced Transformation: It's implied that she was forcibly transformed into a hideous monster through malevolent magic, either by the Magician or the Bubble Dreamer's nightmares.
  • Giant Space Flea from Nowhere: She is the only fairy Rayman does not actually need to encounter. She pops up at the end of the Bonus Level of Hell to fight Rayman, then turns back to normal, and that's it.
  • Good Wings, Evil Wings: Her Nymph form has purple bat wings as opposed to her sisters' fairy wings.
  • Goth: Her Nymph form is morbid-looking compared to those of her sisters'.
  • Goth Girls Know Magic: Implied; the Bubble Dreamer mentions her knowing a lot of spells and mystical cures for ailments.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Her true name translates to "Death Fairy" or "Fairy of Death".
  • Narrator: She's the voice in the E3 2010 trailer of Origins.
  • Pink Is Feminine: Her Nymph form wears a strapless pink dress.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Averted; the only reason she was evil was due to Forced Transformation on her part. She turned good once Rayman saved her from her curse... by beating her up.
  • Ship Tease: Some of the unlockable pictures in the IOS game Jungle Run pairs her up with Rayman. Possibly justified, since she was forcibly turned into a monster and Rayman saved her.
  • Skeleton Motif: Her Nymph form wears skulls and bones as accessories.
  • Tattooed Crook: Her Nymph form has tattoos all over her body. Averted with the "Crook" part in that she wasn't evil to begin with.
  • True Final Boss: Her monster form is the final boss enemy encountered in the game, and is exclusive only to the Brutal Bonus Level.
  • Walking Spoiler: You gotta be an important character if most of the tropes in your folder used to be spoilered out.

    Wendy Weather
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scrapped_nymph.png
A scrapped Nymph who was planned to be included in the early stages of Origins, but was left out for some reason.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: Her outfit resembles the female flight attendant's uniform, and the realm she was going to represent before she was scrapped is the "Moody Clouds", which has turbulent weather, machines, and aircraft.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She has blonde hair that's shorter than Helena's. She was originally going to be included in Origins where she can help Rayman, but was ultimately scrapped.
  • Punny Name: "Windy weather".
  • Stripperific: Her outfit is a skimpy, sexier version of a female flight attendant's uniform.

The Kings

    General Tropes
The kings of the four lands that make up the Glade. They have all been corrupted by the Bubble Dreamer's nightmares and must be defeated in order to access Moody Clouds.

    Carnivora

The king of Ticklish Temples, which can be accessed through Jibberish Jungle.

  • Advancing Boss of Doom: The first half of her fight is to climb away from her as she chases you. She is also this in Jungle Run, though you are unable to fight her.
  • Fantastic Flora: She's an enormous, mobile plant with thorns all over her body. Her true form is a cute little flower (albeit with an underbite).
  • Overly-Long Tongue: Her final attack is to lash her long tongue at you. If she misses, she leaves her weak point exposed.
  • Roar Before Beating: In the second half of her fight, most of her attacks consist of roaring before trying to smash you to a pulp with her giant head.
  • She Is the King: Not only was her real name revealed in Rayman Fiesta Run, but so was her gender.
  • The Smurfette Principle: The only one of the four Kings who is female.

    Creveton

The king of Angsty Abyss, which can be accessed through Sea of Serendipity.

  • All There in the Script: His name is thought to be Murray, as the level you fight him in is called "Murray of the Deep", but according to the game's files, his name is actually Creveton.
  • Flunky Boss: Spawns eel-like creatures out of his mouth to fight with him.
  • Kraken and Leviathan: Looks like a leviathan, but his true form is a shrimp.

Appeared in Rayman Legends

The Princesses

    General Tropes
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maxresdefault_029.jpg
From left to right and top to bottom: Barbara, Aurora, Sibylla, Selena, Emma, Elysia, Twila, Estelia, Ursula, Olympia
Voiced by: Doug Rand

Each Realm is normally under the protection of two twin warrior princesses, but the nightmares captured every one of them. They can be progressively unlocked by completing a dedicated level.

    Barbara & Elysia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_597px-rayman_legends_150812_008_4744.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/200px_elysia.png

Barbara is a young princess who joins Rayman and co. on their adventures. Elysia, her twin sister, is a Palette Swap on the same design.

    Aurora & Twila
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/07e4f3db405e2ecdb71f5bd480903bfe.jpg
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/e2cd609cd903cc958bef3453a999bdeb.jpg

A pair of princesses in a Fairy Tales-themed world, who had to fend off hordes of warrior toads since they were old enough to wield a sword.

  • BFS: They favour long-handled, broad-bladed swords. And due to the game's cartoonish proportions, the blades are as big as their heads, which are much wider than their bodies.
  • Fiery Redhead: Twila
  • Informed Ability: Twila's in-game description reads that she grew up on a giant beanstalk, making her an acrobatic fighter. In practice she's just as acrobatic as anybody.
  • Tough Spikes and Studs: their design includes spiked bracelets, legwear, and prominent studs on their helmets.
  • Theme Naming: "Dawn and Twilight".
  • Tribal Face Paint: They have face paint remindful of Braveheart. Aurora's is blue while Twila uses shades of grey.

     Estelia & Selena
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/250px_estelia_0.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/selena_9.png

Two princesses who embody the Fiesta de lors Muertos universe.

  • Dark Is Not Evil: Invoked with Selena, who embodies the darker side of the Fiesta de los Muertos and is said to be an "even scarier fighter" than Estelia. Also doubles as a Stealth Pun on the dark side of the moon — her name evokes it.
  • Life of the Party: Estelia is apparently used to "party all year long", but took up arms when her realm was invaded.
  • Skeleton Motif: Stylized skulls and bones feature prominently in their aesthetic, up to their face paint.
  • Theme Naming: "Star and Moon". Oddly, neither of those words are spanish, despite their strong latino theme[[note]]Estelia is either a very deformed "estrella", but is just as close to latin or italian "stella", while "selena" is of greek origin[[note/]]

     Ursula & Emma
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/c360cfe9a6d0fe086888f29f7ff43d99.jpg
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/375px_emma.png

These two sisters share a Super Spy theme, and watch over the 20.000 Lums Under the Sea universe which has a strong Jules Verne/Spy Fiction flavour.

  • Informed Ability: they are supposed to be world-classe spies and used to gadgets. In practice, they're just as stealthy as the other characters (read : "when gameplay requires it, none at all otherwise"), and the only gadget they're seen using is their main weapon.
  • Overt Operative: Downplayed with Ursula, who at least wears dark colours, but Emma's outfit is golden. In-universe, the fact that she's used to missions on tropical island is supposed to justify it.
  • Prongs of Poseidon: downplayed. They wield big trident-shaped axes, and their universe has a lot of underwater parts and submarine environments.
  • Unexpected Gameplay Change: Their rescue levels are a series of timed challenges where the other princesses have more standard level design. Outside of that they play just the same as every other hero.

     Olympia & Sibylla
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/41_410146_transparent_sparkles_rayman_legends_princesses_hd_png_download.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/05e4d7865bf4f3427b83d6ef64ecd670.jpg

Protectors of the Olympus Maximus universe.

  • BFS: Their weapon of choice is an enormous and cartoonish gladius-style sword.
  • Hunter of Monsters: Sibylla is described as a Minotaur hunter.

The Nightmares

    General Tropes
The monsters created through Bubble Dreamer's nightmares.
  • King Mook: Most of them are the boss versions of the regular enemies encountered prior in the previous levels.
  • Living Dream: They are Bubble Dreamer's nightmares given physical form.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: They are more detailed than other characters in the game, and three of them actually use 3D models, as opposed to 2D sprites.

    Grunderbite, the Medieval Dragon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dragon_6.png

The nightmare of the first world, Teensies in Trouble, and the first boss in Legends the player has to fight.

  • Breath Weapon: Being a dragon, it attacks by breathing flames. Initially, it simply shoots fireballs, but later it starts breathing out jets of flame.
  • King Mook: A boss version of the dragon mooks encountered earlier.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: It resembles a rotund Western dragon, but it also has fins across its entire body, making it appear more amphibian.
  • Playing with Fire: It constantly breathes fire.
  • Shows Damage: In the later phases, its wings and fins become more tattered, and it gets bruises and scratches over its body.

    Armored Toad
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/legendsartwork18.png

The nightmare of the second world, Toad Story.

    El Luchador
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/giant_luchador.jpg

The nightmare of the third world, Fiesta de los Muertos.

  • Attack Its Weak Point: To defeat him, Rayman must hit him in the head.
  • Eye Scream: After defeat, he falls down and his eyes pop out of the eyesockets before falling into a lava with him.
  • King Mook: He's a boss version of Luchador enemies encountered earlier.
  • Large Ham: During the entire battle, he acts as hammy as possible, constantly throwing Evil Laughs and making noises in theatrical manner.
  • Shows Damage: Over the course of battle, he starts looking more and more beaten up.
  • Wrestling Monster: He's a giant monstrous wrestler that is formed from Bubble Dreamer's nightmares.

    Mechanical Dragon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rayman_legends_artwork_51e69b0f30c29.jpg

The nightmare of the fourth world, 20,000 Lums Under the Sea.

    Hades' Hand
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/acloudofdarkness.png

The nightmare of the fifth world, Olympus Maximus, and the last boss of Legends.

  • Dark Is Evil: It's a creature made of swarm of the smaller dark creatures, and is one of Bubble Dreamer's nightmares given form.
  • Dual Boss: In second form, it takes appearance of two demons that fight simultaneously.
  • Everybody Hates Hades: The Hades' Hand is a demonic monstrosity that is fought as the last boss in the game.
  • Evil Laugh: It lets out several deep laughs in its third phase.
  • Final Boss: It's the last nightmare that is fought in the game.
  • Giant Hands of Doom: Its first form is a massive hand.
  • King Mook: It's a boss version of dark creatures that appeared beforehand in previous levels.
  • Our Demons Are Different: Its second form is a pair of black winged demons, and its final form is a huge, terrifying demon.
  • The Worm That Walks: It's a sentient mass of dark creatures.

Alternative Title(s): Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends
