  • Arch-Enemy: Discussed. Once she realizes the true circumstances of her own murder, she aggressively becomes this for Elena and Gerardo. However, in doing so she also becomes this for Adriana and David, as the greatest obstacle to their love story. The latter fact greatly aggrieves her, but not enough to stop her plans for the former.
  • The Atoner: Mónica sees her second chance in life as a chance to make up for the mistakes she made with her daughters.
  • Back from the Dead: She's killed by Elena, but due to the Psychic Link she had formed with Adriana, she ends up possessing her body instead, and uses this second chance of life to protect her daughters.

  • Interclass Friendship: She's good friends with her servants and is quick to befriend Adriana shortly after they meet.
  • Loving a Shadow: Her Second Love Gerardo is not the man she thought he was, and she is disgusted by him once she finds out his true character.
  • Mama Bear: Her strong desire to protect her daughter is what brought her Back from the Dead and drives the whole plot.
  • Ms. Fanservice: While inhabiting Adriana's body, she ends up showing more skin than Adriana herself, even though she wears more modest clothing. She has a lot of sex scenes with Gerardo and has a Skinny Dipping & Sexy Surfacing Shot scene (albeit with Shoulders-Up Nudity & Sexy Silhouette) the story flashbacks to quite a few times.
  • Nice to the Waiter: Mónica is very kind to her house staff, whom she treats almost like family. In her will, she leaves a considerable part of her fortune for the pensions for her staff and even money to pay for Ricardo’s university.
  • Parental Neglect: She would often focus on her career as an international pianist more than her family, which became a major source of conflict between her family, causing her first husband to turn unfaithful and her oldest daughter to resent her.
  • Private Tutor: Disguised as Mónica Arriaga, she becomes one for Emiliana, as a way to get back into her home and protect her daughters.

  • Team Mom: Acts as a protective maternal figure for Maite and Valeria, which weirds them out as she looks the same age as her.
  • Trauma-Induced Amnesia: After dying and ending up in Adriana's body, she is unable to remember the last few moments of her life, except for the fact that her daughters are in danger, so she remains unaware it was Elena and Gerardo who killed her for a long time.
  • Unfinished Business: After dying, she doesn't recall it was Elena who killed her, but does recall someone threatening her daughters. When she comes Back from the Dead in Adriana's body, she makes it her mission to keep them safe, and her soul leaves Adriana's body once they are.
