World Serpent

A.k.a "Jormungand". The third major human organization introduced in the series, the World Serpent is a millenia-old cult operating in the shadows, with many of history's miracles being attributed to their leader. Like Schicksal and Anti-Entropy, their ultimate goal is to eradicate the Honkai once and for all, but they're not above engaging in dubious experiments that do more harm than good.

Leadership

The ancestor of Siegfried Kaslana, and the only known warrior of the Kaslana bloodline to ever use the Judgement of Shamash at full power without ill consequences. He was friends with MEI back in high school before the old civilization's equivalent of the Third Impact occurred, and volunteered to be one of Fire Moth's first Honkai-human hybrid super soldiers to fight back against the increasingly powerful Herrschers of the era.

He later appears in-game in ch. 12, in one of the "bubble universes" of the Sea of Quanta, before coming back to the real world through the portal created by the events of the chapter, revealing himself as the leader of the World Serpent in the process.

  • Anti-Villain: He's in conflict with the heroes while having the same long-term goal — defeating the Honkai once and for all. Considering the Knight Templar and Shoot the Dog tendencies he has displayed, their unwillingness to work with him is a bit more understandable. However, he's still significantly less of an asshole than Otto Apocalypse, who wants to continue the war against the Honkai just to get a shot at reviving Kallen.
  • Badass and Baby: One supplementary comic gives an image of him cradling the baby that Dr. MEI made with their genes while holding Judgment of Shamash with his other hand after he woke up from his cryosleep thousands of years from his era.
  • Badass Longcoat: In his later years he's depicted with a similar longcoat as the one Siegfried wears. The game, however, shows him with a different outfit: a black coat with left shoulder pauldron, over a white shirt with some dark green accents.
  • Been There, Shaped History: As the story progresses and more media discuss about the various myths of the Current Era, you start realizing just how much Kevin is entrenched in those one way or another.
    • An analysis by Director Catherine during Durandal and Rita's trip to London in the London Holiday comic surmises that Arthurian Legend has some truth to it, namely the existence of Avalon as a place on another side of the spacetime fabric and Excalibur being the key to accessing it, on top of being given by Merlin, who gave rise to the Arthurian legends. "Avalon" is then theorized to be within the Sea of Quanta, and a shot of a hooded figure sporting Kevin's short silver hair is called to attention, implying he is "Merlin". Jackal even confirms to Catherine (actually Otto in disguise) that the soulium data that contains Excalibur's legend is genuine and that it's based on Kevin's deeds. A flashback to late 5th century Britannia reveals that Kevin got mistaken for the legendary mage after being witnessed flying by a young boy he saved from the Honkai.
    • Once Kevin retakes the Judgement of Shamash in the World Serpent oneshot comic, he boasts how its fearsome power gave the sword many names throughout history, namely the divine judgement that obliterated Sodom and Gomorrha. In the Second Key comic, his headquarters in Shelter No. 907 happens to be at the bottom of the Thames River, and further flashbacks show him and Su having traveled to places like Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece to witness the rebirth of civilization.
  • Big Bad: Starting from Chapter 31 onwards, he takes the main spotlight as another human adversary that Kiana and her friends have to face, after Otto erased his own existence and Cocolia is never heard and/or seen anymore.
  • Being Evil Sucks: Even though he's determined to carry Project Stigma through to the end, he's acutely aware of how it's the worst option and deep down he hates himself for the things he's done. When Fu Hua finds him ruminating about the past and inquires about his old dream to be a hero, Kevin tiredly notes that he never was one, and it's now impossible for him to ever become one.
  • Broken Ace: The greatest hero of the Previous Era and the strongest MANTIS super-soldier ever produced who has personally killed at least four different Herrschers is also at heart an ordinary man who just wanted to protect what he treasured. For his trouble, he gained ice powers that he couldn't shut off, which cut off any possibility of physical contact with his lover, and a number of those aforementioned Herrschers were people he knew personally, and a piece of him died with them each time. His comrades all died one by one until only two of his friends remained, and he alienated even them after initiating Project Stigma. The photo shown of his surprise birthday in Chapter 29? Everyone in that photo besides him is confirmed to be dead, at least two of them by his own hands.
  • Call-Back: When he appears in ch. 12 in the Sea of Quanta, he recalls his promise that "humanity shall triumph over the Honkai". As shown in the comic focusing on Kallen's past, it has been adopted as the Kaslana family's Badass Creed, as well as that of the World Serpent, including Raven.
  • Chekhov M.I.A.: He was just thought to be a legend in the present day, but in Ch. 12 of the game, he somehow appears in one part of the Sea of Quanta, as seen by Seele. He's standing in front of what appears to be a giant sakura tree, recalling his promise: no matter what happens, humanity shall defeat the Honkai. He was apparently trapped in the Sea of Quanta since 1500 years ago, and his memories and "promises" formed a "bubble universe" (set during his time) that Seele stumbled herself into. In the meantime, he also founded the secret organization "World Serpent" (aka "Jormungand").
  • De-power: He's said to have lost most of his power after spending 1500 years in the Sea of Quanta and then getting out, but Gray Serpent says that he can recover at least some of it by absorbing the powers of the Judgment-class Honkai Beast, Chiyou.
  • Dramatic Irony: As shown in a flashback in ch. 17, he used to be a man of the present, who didn't think much about the "future" (unlike MEI) and believed that looking too much to the future would make him lose the "things around him". Both of them wished that their wishes would come true. Fast forward several years, and he's fighting for humanity's future, helping MEI; so his wishes did not come true, while hers did. He later became the man who lost everything close to him and is now working for only one thing: the bright future of humanity where they triumph over the Honkai. And it definitely has caused him to "lose sight of things around him".
  • Dueling Messiahs: Discussed between his sim and Mei in the Elysian Realm. Mei acknowleges that there's a good reason that Kevin is revered as a near deific figure due to his strength and perseverance in leading the Previous Era against the Honkai and asks if he's going to assume that role in the Current Era too, even if he plunges the world into another hell? Kevin however states that the new era will have its own hero emerge eventually, to which Mei further asks whether, hypothetically, he and this new hero are going to end up in conflict if they represent opposing ideologies? In typical Kevin fashion, his final answer sounds a bit... noncommittal.
Kevin: They won't. "Truth belongs to mankind, and fallacy belongs to the times." Raiden Mei, what I must lead has never been the times, but humanity.
  • Enemy Mine: He apparently made some kind of deal with Otto as seen at the start of chapter 16. Gray Serpent says to the doubting Raven that the person Kevin is dealing with is a manipulative and egoist man who can hardly be trusted, but it's precisely for his bloated ego that Kevin can make a certain deal with him, that he wouldn't be able to refuse. All of the World Serpent's cadres are in it, as well.
  • Fallen Hero: As Fu Hua tells Kiana in ch. 14, he could be hailed as humanity's best protector, if he died in the Previous Era. As he reawakened in the current era and after he lived for 1-3 millennia, he didn't see any other Previous Era projects to help humanity against the Honkai bearing fruit, so he decided to resort to Project Stigma, which Fu Hua and Director Su object to. He's fully willing to shoulder the sin of dooming the current humanity's future.
  • Fighting a Shadow: Despite being sealed away inside a bubble universe within the Sea of Quanta, Kevin can project quantum avatars into other locations for him to observe and interact with people. He does this to talk with Siegfried when his descendant accessed a Soulium data regarding him and the Kaslana line during the 2nd Eruption comic. He can freely change the form of his projections (usually into a giant black serpent), and at least when inside locations within Sea of Quanta, his projection can also solidify and physically harm objects and people.
  • Figure It Out Yourself: Kevin comes across as quite non-explanatory whenever he's being asked for his opinion about events from his own era or the reasoning behind his actions now in the current one, because his answers are often very terse, cryptic or both, and he instead tells them to draw their own conclusions. This gets mentioned directly a couple of times:
    • When Durandal meets his memory fragment in the Stigmata Space, she makes a mental note that he is being a lot more talkative than his usual self and uses the opportunity to get some actual answers out of him for once.
    • Mei starts to really grow frustrated with this attitude after Kevin sends her to the Elysian Realm with the explicit purpose of looking for answers, only to meet his sim who is being just as cagey as his real self. She even turns it around on him when he in turn tries to question Mei on where she got the info about his unique MANTIS transformation, with Mei this time refusing to give him a straight answer.
Mei: How does it feel? Getting riddles for answers?
  • Final Boss: Kevin is the ultimate opponent and the culmination of Part I, Kiana's story.
  • Fling a Light into the Future: In his appearance at the prologue of ch. 14, in the past (i.e near the end of the Previous Era), Kevin says to his comrade "Hua" that it's their responsibility of carrying on what Dr. MEI had left for the future humanity, in the form of various projects that she had planned. He would later come off as the raging version of this, claiming that until the Honkai has been completely eradicated, there'll be many sacrifices to that end. He made the organization World Serpent and tried to push the aforementioned projects, but Fu Hua says that the price for them would be too big for humanity; many people turned their backs on him (or even against him) because of it.
  • Give Geeks a Chance: He was an ace basketball player in his high school who was popular with the students. Despite that, his attention is locked solely to one person: MEI, a genius student who's more focused in her studies and would repeatedly decline his advances. In a flashback of ch. 17, during their date in their high school days, Kevin got overwhelmed when she's waxing philosophical about humanity and the universe, but he claimed that that's what makes her "unique" compared to the other girls he met before.
  • Monstrous Humanoid: After he unleashes his full power in ch. 33, he becomes much more inhuman-looking, gaining long pointed ears, asymmetric horns, claws, and a single wing-like structure growing out of his back.
  • Humanizing Tears: As Elysia is relating the events of her "final banquet" to Mei in ch. 31, she mentions that she was surprised to see Kevin actually crying a little for her, and was pleased to have something she'd wondered about him confirmed. His tears do freeze on his cheeks.
  • An Ice Person: His augmentation with Parvati's genes allowed him to control ice and the cold, and used it to defeat the Herrscher of Flame. It also allowed him to wield the Judgment of Shamash without any harm to his body. However, as a side effect, his body temperature dropped to around -30 degrees Celcius, which makes physical interactions (including with MEI) difficult for him. In chapter 15, he's shown freezing a bay, including a whale that just jumped out of the sea, and then standing on it as Durandal closes in on him. He then uses his ice powers to fight Durandal to a standstill before Otto stops them. Then in ch. 17, just being around him causes Mei to feel the cold.
  • Icy Blue Eyes: His blue eyes denote his ice powers, and the narration also notes that they're "devoid of anything" as Otto and later Mei look into them, except for a "hint of sadness".
  • I Gave My Word: Ch. 17 has Raven claiming that he had promised to help her treat the condition of the refugee kids in Nagazora, and when Mei questions it, she claims that he gave his word. Then, Kevin himself claims that "you have my word" when he offers to help Mei with Kiana's condition.
  • Irony: He states that he has seen "many like [Kiana]" who were compelled to follow their path as part of the Kaslana family and its beliefs, and how they all end up "sleeping in the fields" in the process. The irony is that Kevin himself - the "Father of the Kaslanas" - is an immortal, so dying as a hero is not an option for him.
  • Martyr Without a Cause: The origin of this particular Kaslana tendency. While not exactly without a cause, Kevin has a habit of shouldering all burdens by himself, even the ones that are too much for him. It's what pushed him to kill Herrscher after Herrscher despite the growing damage it was doing to his psyche, it's what pushed him to become the first successful MANTIS and the greatest soldier of humanity even though Elysia saw him beginning to buckle under the pressure, and it's what caused him to make the decision to supervise and activate Project STIGMA; not only does he see it as the only option they have left to fight the Honkai, he also doesn't want anyone else to bear the sin for initiating such a horrific crime. You don't need to die for someone in order to give up your life and legacy for them.
  • Motive Decay: His past experiences of fighting the Honkai to protect the masses—especially when the humanity of his era ended up losing—have made him seemingly more obsessed with defeating the Honkai than defending the people, in contrast to the other Kaslanas seen so far. This is to the point that he, and World Serpent by extension, is willing to engage in "super-eugenics" (i.e Project Stigma) to create a stronger humanity that can fight the Honkai, even if most of them would die in the process and leave only a few in their wake. Kevin's decision to prematurely activate Project Stigma alienated his two remaining allies, Fu Hua and Director Su, with the latter even turning against him and trapping him in the Sea of Quanta for 1500 years, fearing that he may become worse than the Honkai themselves.
  • Mutual Envy: Otto claims that he and Kevin are secretly mutually jealous of one another in his talk with Void Archives in one of the Memory Bank Recollections during the Kolosten arc. He adds that this is also the real reason why Kevin provided him aid for his final plan.
Otto: Our envy of each other has nothing to do with power. It's just because I can do what he can't do and because he already did something 50,000 years ago that I will never be able to do.
  • Mythology Gag: Back in Guns GirlZ (the previous game), Kevin was the Alternate Universe version of Kiana.
  • Necessarily Evil: Kevin's insistence on Project Stigma despite the knowledge that it would doom the Current Era's future comes about of desperation when learning that every other project had been either inconclusive or a failure. With the justification that any outcome, however slim they may be, is better than inaction and praying for a miracle, Kevin carries out his plan, fully intent on shouldering the burden of so many deaths alone.
  • Not in This for Your Revolution: As seen with the supplementary comic that details his backstory, the reason for him joining the Fire Moth was simply to accompany MEI. In a flashback in ch. 20, he later admits this to his friend "Hua", saying that he didn't care about the Honkai or humanity; she tells him that no one is born a hero and that he had done many good things as a MOTH soldier.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • The climax of the 2nd Divine Key comic has him defeating his best friend, Su, despite the latter wielding multiple Divine Keys. As a last resort, Su decided to use the 2nd Divine Key to "sink" the bubble universe they were in at the time to the bottom of the Sea of Quanta to trap the both of them forever. Kevin cared enough for his best friend's life that he decided to throw Su out of said bubble, telling him to continue with his project while Kevin is trapped within the sinking bubble. This shows that he still cares about at least the people he's close with.
    • As the leader of the World Serpent, he makes sure he honors the deal he makes with his members, as Raven proves.
    • He could've had Siegfried killed after taking the Judgment of Shamash, but instead took the Divine Key and left him alive.
    • In ch. 15, Fu Hua tries to subdue him to keep him away from Kiana, but she passes out from using too much of her power. As he holds the "feather" she left off, he tells her to have a rest, and that everything will be over soon.
    • The reason Kevin sent Mei into the Elysian Realm? To honor Elysia's sacrifice by showing her that her gambit to give future Herrschers a chance to preserve their own humanity worked.
  • Phlebotinum-Handling Requirements: It's his augmentation with the gene of Parvati that allows him to wield Judgment of Shamash safely. By extension, it also allows him to use the weapon's "true" Zeroth Release, a stronger version of its sword form, "Might of An-Utu".
  • Precursor Heroes: After he woke up from his cryostasis 5000 years from the present, he (and the other "Pioneers") would help guiding the new human civilization, witness their growth, and protect them from and teach them about the Honkai.
  • The Reveal: He is the true identity of the "World Serpent", as confirmed by Seele. He also has the Gem of Desire in his possession. While he and our protagonist group (Bronya, Seele, Welt) have a "common enemy" in the Honkai, he claims that "[they] know nothing about the Honkai" and that he aims to go into the real world to fulfill the "true destiny of the pioneer".
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: Kevin always had eyes on MEI from the very first time they met, with MEI constantly rejecting his advances. Then the 3rd Honkai Eruption happened, and suddenly war kept them from being together, despite Kevin's enlistment in Fire Moth in order to be close to her. Kevin undertook the augmentations to become a M.A.N.T.I.S. and was fused with the genes of the ice Honkai Beast, Parvati, making his body temperature being perpetually at -30 Celsius; nobody, including Dr. MEI, could be close to him without protection. At the end of the Previous Era, Kevin found MEI dead after returning from the Moon encounter with the Herrscher of the End, having spent the last of her energy perfecting the Stigmata system. He thought about killing himself, but the existence of a baby made in vitro from his genes and MEI's convinced him to live on and lead the remains of civilization. As such, Kevin and the baby went in cryosleep, emerging 45,000 years later as the legendary Kaslana who would bring hope to the new humanity.
  • Superpowerful Genetics: His test-tube child with Dr. MEI was made in a way that reduces the negative side-effects of his body's condition while inheriting his power. Later on, the whole Kaslana clan was said to have inherited his power through his genes, although most of them have never unlocked the genes' true potential.
  • Super-Senses: He can sense Honkai energy in a large radius. He uses this sense to detect Kiana within the city ruins above Vimur Base.
  • Tautological Templar: He believes that everything he and World Serpent's goal is justified for mankind's freedom from Honkai, even if he's willingly to rob people's free will to choose for themselves with the revised Project Stigma, as shown in the Chapter 31-EX. He will deem anyone who contests his goals as a naive people who "knows nothing about Honkai".
  • Telepathy: Various characters note Kevin can talk directly to their minds, sending quantum waves as messages to be perceived rather than actually speaking.
  • Tom the Dark Lord: The leader of a Nebulous Evil Organization, a 50,000-year-old Super-Soldier, the World's Best Warrior, is named Kevin. Names don't get much more mundane than that.
  • Tragic Ice Character: The experiment that gave him his ice powers gave him the edge to fight against the Honkai phenomenon, and later, allowed him to wield Judgment of Shamash without suffering its ill effects. However, his body became very cold to the touch (-30 degrees Celcius), making him unable to touch other people—including his lover, Dr. MEI—without harming them. He later suffered more tragedies, most notably losing MEI and his entire old world to the Honkai, causing him to grow cold and bitter.
  • Trap Is the Only Option: The Second Key comic's later chapters chronicle just how Kevin got stuck inside the Sea of Quanta, and as it turns out, he willingly entered Su's "Seed of Sumeru" pocket dimension to settle things with his former friend, even though said pocket dimension is a trap that's isolated from the rest of existence. Kevin unsurprisingly curbstomps Su, but ultimately can't strike him down since he is his best friend, so he opts to stay inside the bubble world as it sinks to the bottom of the Sea of Quanta.
  • Unwitting Pawn: He mentions in ch. 12's climax that he helped "that girl" (implied to be Seele) so that she could bring Herrscher of Reason to him.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: When he was younger, he was like a typical high school boy: playful, carefree, and not thinking much about the future. All the Honkai-related tragedies, his struggles to fight them, and his eventual "defeat", made him cold and hardly emotive, in stark contrast to his younger self.
  • Villainous Rescue: Near the end of ch. 17, he does this to Kiana, who was falling from the sky after she and Benares got ambushed by the "imaginary construct".
  • Villain Respect: In Ch. 12, he shows this towards Welt, who genuinely fought for humanity despite bearing the power of a Herrscher. He's also glad to know that there are still more heroes and visionaries fighting for humanity in his absence.
  • Walking Spoiler: Originally thought to be just a memory from the Previous Era, Kevin proves to be very much alive in the present day, making his way out of the Sea of Quanta he's been stranded in for centuries and taking direct control of the World Serpent organization that's been faithful to him in his absence.
  • We Can Rule Together: In ch. 12's climax, he says that he sees potential in Welt, Bronya and Seele, and that the World Serpent would like to have people like them. Welt disagrees with him, but Kevin calmly says that "you'll turn around in time".
  • We Meet Again: He says this to Welt (who's currently inside his Core of Reason that Bronya is using) when Bronya arrives at his location in the Sea of Quanta. This refers to their first encounter in ch. 9-EX2, back when Kevin was in his "World Serpent" guise.
  • We Will Meet Again: At the end of Ch. 12, he says this towards Welt, Bronya and Seele, specifically "in the real world".
  • With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility: When granting you Signets of Deliverance, Kevin might say a variant of the phrase.
Kevin: With more power comes more responsibilities, and sometimes it means paying a higher price.
  • World's Best Warrior: Kevin would later be considered as the greatest hero of the Previous Era. An ELF (autonomous weapon) crafted in the form of a Younger and Hipper version of himself, with a mere 1% of his original power to empower its battery, was able to fight Durandal on an even footing and only ran out of energy after an intense battle which caused great collateral damage in London.

First appears in Chapter 9-EX. He’s not a "man" but a group of countless, connected robots, each performing various tasks for World Serpent and having a slightly different personality.

  • The Assimilator: In Ch. 12, he (as Assaka) grabs Liliya and assimilates her, seemingly giving him some extra strength. He remarks that he planned to do it on Rozaliya, but it doesn't matter, as he's trying to do just that afterwards. However, Theresa points out that his assimilation on Lili is still not complete, allowing her and Roza to free her sister with quite some effort.
  • Clock Roaches: In a variant, in "The Day You Vanished with the Stars" event, he (and his duplicates) seems to have a sinister plot of trying to kill Zhuge Kongming in any way he can, and he also gives off ominous words such as "you can't fight the consequences..." Tesla-Zero reveals in the end that they're the "agents" of the Golem's "backup program" that has deemed Kongming as an "anomaly" and tries to erase her from the world, akin to The Matrix's Agents.
  • Color Animal Codename: Given what he (presumably) is, it's likely that his name is just an epithet.
  • Couldn't Find a Pen: In "Rosemary's Floriograph" event, after he murders Jackal, he seemingly leaves a word written in blood on the floor - "RACHE". Einstein says that it's German for "revenge".
  • Cyborg: When Bronya scans his corpse in Arc City, she finds that his body is mostly replaced with cybernetics, from an artificial arm to an artificial eye (that Rita stole).
  • Dead All Along: In "Rosemary's Floriograph" event, after Doyle and others find Gray Serpent and Raven's dead bodies, he and Irene talk about it over the phone. Doyle points out that Gray Serpent's body looks like it has been decaying for several days; Irene thinks that something was possessing his dead body to perform the murders that he supposedly did. Previously, there were hints such as the 2 pools of blood in Welt Joyce's room (one of which presumably belonged to Gray Serpent, Welt's murderer), the fact that he couldn't easily jump out the window of said room while bleeding, the big gash on his back (which presumably wasn't caused by Raven), and the blood writing on the wall, which (in Raven's cutscene that shows her death) was written by someone else other than Gray Serpent.
  • Hive Mind: From his reappearance in Ch. 9-EX2, it's implied that there's more than one Gray Serpent with the same mind/personality. In Ch. 10, Einstein is spying on Cocolia speaking to what's implied to be him, but then he seemingly appears behind Einstein and knocks her out. In ch. 12, Cocolia threatens him at gunpoint to ensure Bronya's safety... and then another Gray Serpent appears behind her and shoots her (non-fatally). Later in a cutscene, the two Gray Serpents talk to Theresa and the Olenyeva twins in an alternating way as if their minds are one and the same. It's implied that there are more of him, too; he would later reappear in the beginning of ch. 13. Chapter 30 confirms that there are multiple Gray Serpents through a conversation between Raven and a Gray Serpent who have worked together in the past.
  • Iconic Item: His umbrella seems to be one. This is referenced in the "Empyrean Legends" event, where "Uncle Gray Serpent" was missing in the dark woods and only his umbrella can be found.
  • Kill the Lights: In the "Rosemary's Floriograph" event, in Welt Joyce's mansion, after Doyle and Irene investigate Welt's room with Einstein, the lights suddenly go out. During this time, Jackal is seemingly murdered by Gray Serpent, and then Sora goes missing. After checking the mansion's power generators, Tesla finds a time-delayed device that cut off the power, possibly allowing Gray Serpent to pull off the murder without assistance.
  • Malevolent Masked Men: He has a sinister, one-eyed mask covering his whole face.
  • Mind Rape: In Ch. 9-EX2, he seemingly enters Bronya's mind, trying to break her from within by playing her bad memories. Fortunately, Fu Hua (or rather, one of her "feathers") comes to save her.
  • Strike Me Down with All of Your Hatred!: In ch. 12, after absorbing Lili into himself (as Assaka), he goads Roza to get angry and let her "inner beast" take over. It's all a ploy so he can better absorb her as well, but Theresa tells her to calm down.
  • Super Serum: In one stage of ch. 12, the two Gray Serpents pull out injectors and inject themselves with a strange liquid that turn them into the two halves of Assaka, but with their minds and even motor skills intact. He claims that the technology behind the Olenyeva twins' surgery to adopt Honkai Beast traits was the basis for this.
  • Tempting Fate: When hunting down the Herrscher of Corruption, the Gray Serpent Raven is working with notes that it was a good thing that its mind was just an infant, and that they managed to quarantine it before anyone had a chance to attack it and awaken its survival instincts. Little do they know that a piece of the Herrscher of Corruption has been piggy-backing on Mei ever since an encounter with the Will of Honkai, and accompanying her through her ordeals has resulted in it maturing to the point where it understands and fears death.

    Natasha Cioara − "Raven"

Midnight Absinthe
One of the promiment members of the World Serpent, who oversees the Heliopolis Life Sciences group and its building. She first appears in ch. 13 under the guise of "Cioara", who contacts Rita for Schicksal's latest supplies transfer to Heliopolis. She becomes a boss in ch. 14. Cold and ruthlessly efficient while running World Serpent's operations, Raven also happens to wield the Third Divine Key, which takes the form of a small railgun.

  • Agree to Disagree: In ch. 16, she points out to Mei that while the latter believes that Kiana's problem can be solved, she doesn't, as there's too much risk involved in it; she says that neither of them are able to convince each other about it.
  • Animal Motifs: With ravens, obviously, as her power often manifests itself in the form of ravens, her cloak resembling the feathers on a bird’s wings, and her Wolverine Claws that heavily resemble the talons of a bird. Also her name, Cioara, literally means ''crow/raven'' in Romanian.
  • Anti-Villain: Works for the villainous World Serpent, yet seems to believe that by killing Kiana, (or the Herrscher of the Void, as she considers her) she is protecting humanity from further destruction and tragedy by her hands. She also takes care of refugees of Honkai outbreaks in her spare time, teaching them how to live in the ruins. Mei notes that the kids in the Roost "painted a different picture" of her compared to what Mei saw at Arc City; Raven confirms later that she never told the kids anything about her job, or what the Honkai is beyond being a strange disaster. She goes on to compare herself with other people who do bad things and good things separately (including helpless refugees who could become "monsters" to each other just to get food).
Mei: But you take care of the kids with your left hand, and turn the population of a city into lab rats with your right... Don't you find it paradoxical?
Raven: You seem to misunderstand me. I'm a hired blade. I don't pick my victim, as long as the price is right. I saved a few children, but I have a kill count that far exceeds said number. I've seen far more extreme contradictions compared to mine.
  • Assist Character:
    • In one stage of ch. 16, you (as Mei) can summon Raven to perform a single powerful attack at the enemies with a special button, and then she teleports out; this comes with a cooldown of few seconds. This repeats in one stage of ch. 18.
    • In one stage of "Rosemary's Floriograph" event, you're controlling Fallen Rosemary (Rita as "Irene Adler"); as she's currently teaming up with Raven, Irene can summon the latter to attack the enemies the same way as above.
  • The Atoner: In "Rosemary's Floriograph" event, she's said to be bringing Sora around and trying to Find the Cure! for her condition as a means of "redemption". In the middle of the event, it's revealed that she used to work for the church orphanage, which secretly performed experiments on abandoned orphans; her job was to bring the "supplied" children around to the church, with one of them being Sora. The little girl was one of the few survivors of the cataclysm in St. Fountain, and Raven built the Roost to give Sora and the other children a home. In the present time, she's presumed to be trying to look at Welt Joyce's research notes in order to find the cure for Sora.
  • The Bartender: She owns a bar called Raven's, both as a legal cover and a source of intel for her bounty hunting jobs. Naturally, this leads to a scene where she and Mei can bond over a (non-alcoholic) drink after the latter joins World Serpent. This is reflected in her genial character outside of work, as well as her battlesuit and skills, all named after alcoholic drinks. Her ownership of Raven's also factors into the "Arc: Light Bound" event, as her ward Bronie works as a waitress in the bar when she's not doing hacking jobs and exploring.
  • Big Brother Worship: Flashbacks in the game and the manga show that Raven loved her older brother very much. Even long after she had to leave him for dead, she still adheres to the last words he spoke to her, where he told her to “live well”. It is also what she mainly taught to the children she saved and took care under.
  • Big Damn Heroes: In ch. 16, when Mei is overwhelmed against Benares, Raven comes to her aid and fights the dragon in her stead, and tells her to take Sora back to her home.
  • Bio-Augmentation: In the Elysian Realm she reveals to Mei that she has a modern version of the Honkai augmentation where her body has been infused with genes from Honkai Beasts, explaining where her strange powers come from, including her ability to link with Honkai Beasts. She makes sure to stress that she's not a MANTIS however, as her powers are not in the same weight class and points out that even Schicksal has done some similar gene experiments with their Valkyries, namely Theresa Apocalypse.
  • Car Fu: When Raven decides to fight Kiana one-on-one in Chapter 14, she enters the scene by sending a cargo truck crashing towards Kiana, who's already busy fighting enemies. Kiana manages to avoid the collision and looks no worse for wear when Raven confronts her.
  • Casting a Shadow: She can apparently manipulate shadows themselves to attack, as seen in a scene between her and Mei in ch. 16. The latter resists said attack, if only because the "pain in her heart" hurts her more.
  • Code Name: When she poses as a higher up of Heliopolis, she uses the name "Cioara". As shown in her Dark and Troubled Past, her brother called her "Nata". As the 2nd Eruption comic has her brother call her "Tasha" and the two seem to speak Russian, her real name is most likely "Natasha". This is confirmed in ch. 16, where one of the stages' descriptions mention her name as "Natasha Cioara, the Raven".
  • Cold Sniper:
    • During the climax of the London Holiday, Raven deploys the Third Divine Key, which is essentially an advanced railgun that fires a bullet that reduces its target to atoms, to ambush Otto after he fooled Jackal into revealing herself. The shot destroys Otto's soulium avatar, but since he simply uploaded the details of the encounter to another body before the avatar's destruction, the two World Serpent agents come empty-handed, with Raven groaning that the shot she reserved for Durandal ended up being used to save Jackal's ass and the Third Key is now damaged with a wasted shot.
    • In ch. 16 she's also shown with it, where she uses it to watch Otto and her Master's meeting place from afar.
    • In ch. 18 she gets to use it to fire at the ice block that contained Herrscher of Ice, and later, to fire at the ice spikes that said Herrscher creates that block Mei's way. Inbetween, she plans to find a high enough position so she can find the Herrscher quickly and do long-range support.
  • Combat Pragmatist: During Chapter 14, Raven gets into a one-on-one duel with Kiana, who notes that neither can use Honkai energy due to the surrounding gas that drains Honkai energy from those it contacts. Kiana surmises that Raven might've decided to fight her fair and square, only for Raven to inject herself with a serum that makes her immune to the gas' effects, giving her an upper hand in the fight.
Kiana: Now you can't use Honkai energy either. Finally looking to fight me fair and square?
Raven: For you... there's no such thing as "fair".
  • Combat Stilettos: She can move quickly and fight while wearing sharp-looking high heel boots.
  • Contralto of Strength: She has one of the deepest female voices in the game and she's a professional, dangerous assassin.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Kiana banks on the fact that she and other World Serpent fighters rely on Honkai energy to strengthen themselves when she sabotages Raven's convoy that carries the anti-Honkai serum, causing the gas to leak out of the broken containers to try to weaken her; Kiana would expect a fair fight after that. However, Raven has prepared for that - she uses some kind of antidote to become immune to the gas' effects, allowing her to fight at full strength while Kiana gets weakened by the gas. Unbeknownst to both of them, Rita sees the whole thing from afar, and the antidote in particular.
  • Criss-Cross Attack: Her Ultimate Skill begins with her zig-zagging across the battlefield to hit enemies in a large area, before she finishes it by firing a strong arrow that releases a big explosion on impact.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Chapter 14 shows through a Flashback Nightmare of hers that her hometown was devastated due to the 2nd Honkai War, and she and her brother were among the few survivors. Back in her time, simple needs were scarce and people shed blood over them; when Gray Serpent brought her away, he claimed that she's one of the few people with "potentials" while her brother was not, and thus was presumably Left for Dead (and he was willing, too). She would then undergo harsh training and growth, turning her into what she is now. It's heavily implied that she has a grudge against the "Herrscher of the Void" (the center of the 2nd Honkai War) because of this, which makes her battle with Kiana a personal matter.
  • Diving Kick: One of her attacks is to float up and then dive to the ground with a kick.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: She claims in ch. 18 that, unlike Schicksal, the World Serpent doesn't like "human wave" tactics, and only relies on a few strong members at a time. This is in response to Rita's comment that they're sending their newest member (Mei) into the field, thinking that they're spreading themselves thin.
  • Expy: From her black hood, to her Wolverine Claws and red knife-like blades that she throws around, to even her name, she's one for Guilty Gear's Raven.
  • Fanservice: Her battlesuits and regular outfits are form-fitting but still rather modest, but after winning the Stan Wars event, the version 5.3 update depicts her in the Idol Performance Stigmata set, whose T and M pieces have her respectively in tight pants and a crop top and a bikini.
  • First-Name Ultimatum: The version of her in the "Arc: Light Bound" event, called Cioara, is both Bronie's guardian and boss at Raven's. At one point after Bronie is captured by Heliopolis and released, she addresses Bronie as Bronya, her actual name. The narration notes that Theresa can't remember the last time Bronie had been called by her actual name, and it means that Cioara is very angry with her.
  • Flechette Storm: She can throw out red knives. Some of them are explosive, too.
  • Foreshadowing: An early clue that she's got Honkai Beast genes in her is that her eyes have unusually shaped pupils with slits. This is due to the fact that every other character with Exotic Eye Designs in the series has a some form of hard connection to the Honkai either by being a Herrscher or an augmentend soldier like the MANTIS or the Vodka Twins.
  • Friend to All Children: In Chapter 16 it is revealed that a group of children are living within a section of Nagazora City known as “The Roost,” which is a sanctuary Raven built for them to live in, safe from the Honkai. She also takes care of them by teaching the children how to survive and giving them food and medicine every month, and protecting them from Honkai Beasts. Because of this they refer to her as “Sensei”. She even planned to live with them on a private villa she had bought before it was sunk into the ocean due to the Honkai eruption 4 months ago. Ch. 17 has her mention that she had wished for the World Serpent (and specifically Kevin) to help her treating the kids' condition (by stigmata-related treatments), and she agreed to keep working with them for it as the "payment", claiming that the "Sire of the World Serpent" is a man of his word when Mei questions it.
Raven: Spending time with the children makes me feel alive.
  • Freudian Excuse: A big part of her hatred towards Honkai and Herrschers stems from how they have screwed with her life in many ways, including ruining her childhood and the private island and villa she bought and built herself so she and the refugees she helped could live in peace.
  • Hypocrite: She and Mei discusses this in ch. 16. Mei points out that Kiana may be the Herrscher of the Void whom Raven hates, but she also has risked her life to save an entire city, and then asks Raven—as she too is a "contradiction"—why she wants to kill "someone like her". Raven's answer is that Mei is putting everything at risk to trust Kiana to tame her inner demons, and it's too great of a risk for Raven.
  • If I Do Not Return: In the middle of "Rosemary's Floriograph" event, before Raven goes out to try to look for Sora, she gives Doyle the address to the Roost; she wishes that someone else could take it over and look after the children for her. When he asks her why she does this, she says that she's preparing for the worst, as she suspects that Gray Serpent may have kidnapped Sora as a bait for her, thinking that she is his real target. Doyle decides to accompany her with Irene and Joachim so she doesn't have to do it alone; but later, she goes missing when Irene fights some Honkai Beasts. Later on, the story cuts to her being at the brink of death after she supposedly fought Gray Serpent, and Sora gets traumatized at the whole thing. In the end of the event, Doyle is said to have dealt with the Roost; he chooses to put the children in Anti-Entropy's care.
  • Interface Screw: One of her attacks after she Turns Red has her shooting a swarm of raven-like energy shots that will block the screen with dark red color if you get hit.
  • In the Hood: She wears a black hooded cape with spiky ornaments. In Chapter 24, she says that she used to take the hood off when talking to people as it was more polite, but people didn't take her seriously as she looked young. Once, she forgot to take it off, and she was taken more seriously. She didn't ever remove the hood ever since.
  • I Will Only Slow You Down: In ch. 18, after Raven got hit by a neurotoxin courtesy of Owl betraying them, she tells Mei to not waste time helping her and focus on chasing him and the Herrscher of Ice. She would later recover by herself and reappear in ch. 19.
  • Leitmotif: She has a special theme music used in her boss fight. A few snippets of her theme is played when she shows up in ch. 16.
  • Legacy Character: A conversation with the cyborg mecha affectionately called "Mr. Robo" in ch. 32 reveals that "Raven" is just a role in World Serpent, and that he was the Raven prior to Natasha.
  • Lethal Chef: Sora says that Raven (her "sensei")'s cooking isn't very good when she's eating Mei's curry. When Raven comes back to the Roost and brings some snack from Shenzhou for the kids, she has to convince Sora that it isn't her cooking.
  • Mama Bear: In the "Rosemary's Floriograph" event, she goes ballistic when Sora suddenly goes missing. She threatens Joffrey for Sora's whereabouts, and when Irene tries to stop her, they end up fighting each other. Even after Irene and Doyle calm her down, she proceeds to search the manor's rooms to find Sora, leaving most of them in a mess.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter:
    • As a playable character, while she is primarily an archer, her normal combo has her switching between ranged and melee attacks.
    • As the first IMG-type playable character, she can deal increased damage to IMG-type enemies; she also has a unique trait in which, with her aimed shot towards an IMG enemy's weak point while their health is below a certain threshold, she can instantly kill them.
    • Her gameplay revolves around the "feathers" mechanic. Her normal attacks, QTE, and her allies' branch/charged/ultimate attacks leave "feathers" on the battlefield, up to 20. While she's on standby, her allies gain a fire damage buff as long as there are feathers around; while she's active, performing her Charged Attack will make her throw a spread of feathers before gathering all existing feathers towards her, granting her a damage increase and damage-taken reduction buff based on how many feathers she gathered. If she can gather 15 or more feathers with her Charged Attack, she can also gain some SP and then continue the attack with shooting up to 3 volleys of arrows, each of which drops more feathers - enough for her to repeat the charged attack and then the whole sequence so she can gain SP quickly.
  • Misplaced Retribution: She appears to hold a very heavy grudge against Kiana, believing her to be the monstrous Herrscher of the Void that destroyed her town and led her to suffer a harsh childhood. She scoffs at the idea that Kiana wants to save Arc City, accusing her of being a hypocrite. Unbeknownst to Raven, Kiana is just the vessel for the real Herrscher of the Void who is everything she accuses Kiana of being. Kiana herself has been put through a similar hell as Raven. In Raven's eyes, Kiana is the Herrscher of the Void who had caused devastation and thus has to be stopped.
  • Moral Myopia: In ch. 16, Raven says that she wishes to not see Sora become a "monster" over basic needs - just like what Mei wishes for Kiana. And yet, she looks down on Mei for doing the same thing that she herself does. Raven's justification for it is that Kiana's problem is much harder to solve and involves a great risk.
  • Morph Weapon: In chapter 24, she mentions that the 3rd Divine Key can apparently morph into different forms; she guesses from the weapon's name ("Seven Thunders of Retribution") that it might have 7 forms, but she has only seen 3 so far. She also claims that the weapon can be quite moody and that she has to take good care of it; once, she fell into a difficult situation when the weapon chose to morph into a slingshot form, which didn't help her. She offers to have Mei hold it to see what will happen; it then morphs into something both of them have never seen before, although it's not shown directly to the viewer.
  • Multishot: As a playable character, she can shoot spread of arrows with her normal attack combo.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: In the opening scene of Chapter 16, Raven tells Gray Serpent that she would obey Kevin Kaslana’s orders no matter what, making her very similar to Rita and her devotion to Otto.
  • Passive-Aggressive Kombat: She has one with Rita in ch. 18 when they meet each other again. Rita has a bit of a grudge against her for what happened in ch. 13 to 14. It's only stopped when Durandal calls Rita.
Rita: I wonder what you'll be useing against the Herrscher. Gas? Trucks? Or... suicide bomb bots?
Raven: Well, I didn't expect to singlehandedly ruin your mission last time. I'm still *very* sorry about that.
Rita: Oh dear, please don't. I should be the one who's sorry for ruining that grand project of Heliopolis Life Sciences.
Raven: You're welcome. Do take care of our supplies and make sure the tea is ready while we handle the Herrscher.
Rita: How nice of you. In return I shall make sure you're given a proper funeral if you get yourself killed.
The two girls continued sparring as their smiles stiffened. Tension rose in the air.
  • Pillar of Light: After she Turns Red, she can create pillar-like blasts of dark red energy from the ground.
  • Power Floats: She can occasionally float in midair.
  • The Promise: When she and Mei fight each other in ch. 16 over Kiana, Sora tries to stress onto Raven on how important Kiana is to Mei, just like how the "sensei" is important to her and the kids. She then says that "sensei" is turning into a different person and scaring her, and goes to cry quietly, causing Raven to reminisce a time where, in a burning village, a certain girl (most likely Raven herself) was crying like Sora does now. Raven relents, then tries to comfort Sora and says that Mei will have a chance. She then helps Mei detecting Kiana, despite still holding her contempt.
  • Promoted to Playable: A notable example, as it took an unusually long time for her to become playable. She was introduced as a regular character in the story in version 3.6 but only joined the roster in version 5.2, two whole years after that, despite being prominent in several story arcs in-between. Even more notable is that she was the first playable character in almost two yearsnote  that was neither S-rank nor "SP" or an Augment Core upgrade.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: She had dark red eyes and is a dangerous assassin working for a villainous organization.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Red Oni to Jackal’s Blue Oni, with Raven serving as more of The Brute for the World Serpent, while Jackal relies more on her intelligence and cunning to serve him. This dynamic could also be inverted, considering that Raven is cold and ruthlessly efficient, while Jackal is a sadistic Mad Scientist.
  • Reformed Criminal: In the "Bronya's Game Studio" mini event, there is a group photo of Bronya surrounded by children taken at Cioara's Home, strongly suggesting that 8 years later, she decided to end her career as a World Serpent agent, reformed, and start her new life as the owner of her own orphanage named after herself.
  • Running Away to Cry: Sora recounts that, when Raven's personal island (that she worked hard to gain enough fortune to buy with) was sunk due to the Honkai eruption, she was seen Trying Not to Cry as she keeps mumbling "everything is fine"... but then she couldn't hold it anymore and ran away to the beach, crying her heart out. She also let out a Skyward Scream that Sora can't forget: "Humanity shall purge the Honkai at any cost!" This causes Mei and Tesla to fall silent.
  • Scarily Competent Tracker:
    • Ch. 16 shows how she tracks her Honkai-related targets: she says that low-level Honkai Beasts are attracted to Honkai energy as if they're pheromones. She has a certain technique that disrupts the beasts' reception to the energy (by stabbing them with her Wolverine Claws and injecting them with some sort of dark power); this causes the affected beast to become controllable, which allows her to get rid of the beasts and create safe zones in the Nagazora ruins. Said technique also allows her to send out and receive "messages" to and from the beasts, letting her command many beasts by getting her hold onto a few of them. She claims that through this method, she can link herself to their senses and experience things that normal humans cannot, from the heat waves in the air, the moving currents of the seas, to the scent of Herrschers. This is what she uses to help Mei find Kiana.
    • In both the above chapter and in ch. 18, her 3rd Divine Key allows her to not just see at long distances, but also at higher dimensions, allowing her to find her targets quickly.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: In the Elysian Realm, she shares her experience in the realm with Mei. She once reached Mobius to get the "final bounty" to "unlock her restraints", but when the two arrived at Mobius' place, Raven was unnerved by the place she's led to, and then she saw something unspeakably horrific in place of Mobius, which made Raven decide to flee the place without looking back.
  • Stepford Smiler: In ch. 18, during her talk with Alvitr over the video call device, she smiles as she expresses the idea of them working together again in the future, before the call ends; this pleasantly surprised the Valkyrie. Then Raven looks at the city with a somber expression. Owl lampshades the quick change in her face; Raven calls it "business smile".
  • Support Party Member: She's primarily meant as a support for fire-elemental teams. Her "feathers" mechanic allows her party members to deal higher fire damage while she's on standby. Her Ultimate Skill leaves behind a "red smoke" that covers a large AOE, in which enemies take more fire damage and your characters deal increased fire damage. During which, if she uses her weapon skill or her allies use their branch/charged/ultimate attack, the smoke will generate a fire explosion on the enemy to add some damage and potentially trigger stigmata effects while she's on standby.
  • Teleportation: She can disappear into a dark mist and then reappear elsewhere during battle. As a playable character, her evasion move works similarly.
  • Thong of Shielding: In Chapter 16, we get a clear look at her behind and it is clearly shown that her bodysuit rides up her rear almost exactly like a thong.
  • Van Helsing Hate Crimes: She refuses to see Kiana as anything other than Herrscher of the Void. By contrast, Rita - who previously hunted Kiana and called her the same way - comes to respect her and see her as more than a walking disaster. When she comes to the Roost in Ch. 16 and meets Mei, Raven agrees to help her find Kiana (as Mei has been helpful to the refugees), but she declares her intention to kill Kiana afterward. Mei asks her if it's part of the World Serpent's plan, but Raven says that it's a personal matter. However, as seen in her inner thoughts in ch. 16, she's starting to have doubts: she's recalling her fight with Kiana where, despite her expecting to die on Kiana's hands, the blue-eyed girl instead spared her, and then went to save the Arc City from an impending disaster. When she saw her prey falling from the sky lifelessly, she didn't feel any satisfaction despite it being what she had always wanted. It didn't fill the "emptiness" in her heart.
Mei: Why are you doing this? Why should she deserve such injustice? Is it because of what she is? What she has done in the past? It's only because she's a Herrscher, isn't it? But she would never hurt anyone... How can this world treat this kind and gentle girl with such cruelty...
  • Villain Has a Point:
    • While her reasons for hunting Kiana are more personal to her, she points out to Mei that a Herrscher is a danger to whole cities, and that Mei or the Anti-Entropy may not have a real, thorough plan to deal with the problem without killing Kiana or potentially causing a disaster.
Dreams and hopes... I'm not sold on these fancy words that I haven't experienced myself. I believe only in facts and evidence, something neither you nor AE have.
You can't even stop me. How are you going to stop those people?note
    • Later in ch. 17, she stresses about her point again to Mei, about the truth of Kiana's condition and that AE really doesn't have any good way to help her.
Raven: Tell me, what did they come up with? Ideals? Hopes? Or friendship?
      Mei: SHUT UP!!
  • Villain Respect:
    • The end of ch. 16 has her giving her respect to Mei after the latter shows her determination to protect and save Kiana.
That strong look in your eyes... I like it. Take her (Kiana). Leave. Get as far away from here as you can. Keep your promise. Don't her hurt anyone. You have yourself to thank, girl. You proved yourself at the very last moment.
    • In the middle of ch. 17, she says that she first thought of Mei as just an innocent little kid, but she had changed completely in only a span of few days. She then wishes for Mei to find the answers the latter seek from Raven's "master".
  • Weak to Fire: In her boss fight, she has a circle above her head that is filled by attacks that deal the "ignite" debuff. If it's filled to full, she becomes more vulnerable, particularly to fire attacks.
  • We Will Meet Again: In the end of ch. 16, before Raven leaves, she says this to Mei, and adding that the latter will know where to find her. In ch. 17, Mei does come back (to escort Sora back to the Roost) and Raven goes to talk about Kiana's problem; that the World Serpent may have a way to help her while Schicksal or AE do not, and she's offering it to Mei. 2 hours later, Mei rendezvouses with Raven again and accepts her offer.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: After the fight with Kiana in ch. 14, she has a talk with a fellow World Serpent member, Jackal. Raven says that she wants to "put out the fire", but Jackal wants Kiana alive instead so she can examine and experiment on a live Herrscher.
  • Wolverine Claws: While she normally looks like she just wears Femme Fatalons, she can extend her pointer and middle fingers' claws for slashing her enemies. They're apparently made of Soulium.
  • Younger Than They Look: With her mysterious air and deep voice, she can be mistaken for an adult woman, but when Kiana takes a look at Raven's eyes after their rematch, she notes that said eyes belonged to someone about the same age as Kiana, but had only seen death and terror. If the flashback she experiences as a recurring dream and the Second Eruption comic are anything to go by, she's only a couple of years older than Kiana.
  • You're Nothing Without Your Phlebotinum: Near the end of ch. 16, Raven taunts Mei with this, saying that she's just an ordinary girl without her Gem of Conquest, and that she failed to save Kiana even with it, so Raven asks her how she's going to do that now. This causes Mei to raise her resolve and emit electricity as her eyes turn magenta. This impresses Raven as she claims that Mei have "made her choice", that she has proven herself at the last moment, and tells her to leave and to not let Kiana hurt anyone as she has promised "Before I Change My Mind".
  • You Shall Not Pass!:
    • At the climax of ch. 14, when Kiana and Mei rush to stop the World Serpent's plans, Raven intercepts them. Even as she's defeated, she claims that she has held Kiana long enough for their plan to reach completion, and flees.
    • In the Elysian Realm, not long after she revisits the realm to greet Mei, she appears while Mei is exploring; she then proceeds to fight Mei as a boss. After the battle, when Mei asks her why she did this, she reveals that Gray Serpent told her to block Mei's path, to prevent her from getting the knowledge he deemed as "forbidden". Though she isn't all that serious about it, and after the battle she doesn't hinder Mei's progress anymore, although she does warn Mei about the things she could face if she goes deeper in the realm.

Without her mask
Another major member of the World Serpent, Jackal oversees several undercover operations, preparing the field for her leader's return. She's the underlying antagonist of the London Holiday short comic.

  • Ambiguously Brown: Her ethnicity hasn't been revealed, but her dark hair, brown skin tone and jackal-themed mask and persona suggest that she's of Middle Eastern descent.
  • Animal Motifs: Like her name suggests, the jackal. She wears a jackal mask, particularly with an ankh on it; jackals are prominent in Egyptian Mythology and the Heliopolis building takes some cues from it as well.
  • Code Name: Like most major WS members, she goes by an animal-themed name; her real name is shown in ch. 21 to be Dr. Cleo.
  • Fate Worse than Death: Not her, but she subjected someone through this in one extra scene of ch. 21. The scene is taken from the perspective of someone called Mr. Samit, who is contracting a "disease" that Dr. Cleo claims to be a very rare one (implied to be a Honkai-related disease). As he doesn't want to die yet, he begged her to help him, and she agreed... and then it cuts to a scene which describes him being incarcerated as he's painfully experimented upon, in horrifying detail. He's still kept alive, but he has lost most of his senses except for his touch and pain ones, and he can't do anything but screaming in pain inside his mind.
  • I Want Them Alive!:
    • After Raven beats Kiana in ch. 14, Jackal contacts her, saying that she wants the 2nd Herrscher to be brought alive to her so that she can perform experiments on it.
    • In ch. 18, when Mei asks her if she has to kill the upcoming new Herrscher, Jackal corrects her, saying that the group wants the Herrschers "suspended" as part of their plan of collecting all Herrschers.
  • Mad Scientist: She seems to be primarily doing scientific works for the World Serpent. In particular, she seems to really like doing research on Herrschers; she performs painful experiments on Kiana with glee, then later, she's said to repeatedly nag Mei to perform tests on her. Her attitude annoys Raven, although Raven acknowledges her scientific efforts.
  • Power Nullifier: In ch. 18, Jackal gives Mei equipment called "Scepters of Duatnote ", saying that they're going to be useful for their next mission. When Raven calls it "Imaginary Disrupter", Jackal chastises her for sullying such a rare technology (from the Previous Era, which she claims Schicksal cannot replicate) with a dull name. In the middle of the chapter, Owl explains that the scepters work by disrupting the Honkai energy output of the Herrscher's core, through creating interfering "twists" to the link between the core and the Imaginary Space, effectively limiting the Herrscher's actions without killing them. Attacking and weakening the Herrscher first will make the scepters work more effectively, allowing them to capture and bring the Herrscher to their Sire, who'd then seal her powers, leaving them in a "vegetative" state.
  • Smug Snake: Jackal's arrogance outweights her cautiousness, which usually results in her plans blowing up in her face, even though she assures afterwards that the setbacks are nothing in the grand scheme of things.
    • When she thinks she's simply disposing of a pawn by shooting Director Catherine dead in London Holiday, she's completely blindsided by the fact it was Otto's soulium avatar all along, meaning she inadvertently fed the enemy precious information and now has to be bailed out by Raven.
    • During the events of the game's Chapter 14, she smugly dismisses Kiana's attempts to understand World Serpent's motives and instead tries perform various tests on the heroine, only for Kiana to reveal that she was only pretending to be in pain from the tests to coax useful information out of Jackal, after which Kiana effortlessly breaks out of the lab.
    • In ch. 21, when Hua(?) breaks into the World Serpent's base to look for their leader, Jackal keeps sending waves of mech enemies after her and leading her into various traps, proudly thinking that it'll stop her each time. She gets increasingly frustrated and nervous as Hua(?) breaks through them and gets deeper into their base. It's only stopped when the WS' leader shows up.
  • Undying Loyalty: Compared to Raven's ultimately mercenary-like mentality (she's got personal reasons for supporting the Serpents), Jackal seems to be utterly loyal and zealous to the World Serpent's cause, especially the Project Stigma. She wishes to help furthering their cause and to use the best of her abilities to that end.
Jackal: This is our chance as our Sire's most steadfast followers to prove our devotion and ensure the success of Stigma.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Her modus operandi is to dispose of World Serpent's associates once they've fulfilled their purpose, with the benefit that such pawns will not be traced back to the organization. One associate transferred 50 billion euros to the World Serpent's funds, only to get conveniently hit by a truck the moment he confirmed the transfer and reaffirmed his faith in the organization's cause. In London Holiday, she instantly shoots Director Catherine dead after judging that she knows too much and has come into contact with Schicksal. Too bad that last bout was Otto's soulium avatar impersonating the Director.
  • You Will Know What to Do: In ch. 18, when Mei asks her on how to use the Scepters of Duat, she says "you will know". Later in the chapter, when Mei asks about it again, Owl eventually explains it to her.

A World Serpent member introduced in ch. 18. Beyond his perpetually sleepy looks, he's an expert survivalist, intel gatherer, and scout. He, alongside a few other members, are hunting a Herrscher on Coral Island in Southeast Asia. He used to be Raven's enemy from another organization until he was brought under the World Serpent.

  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Raven says that while he may look like a lazy bag of bones, he's a professional in data mining and covert operations. In one stage, Raven calls him out in not helping as she and Mei are fighting Honkai Beasts. He says that having Mei is enough that he wouldn't be of much help; he wants to save his strength to fight the Herrscher. In another, Raven thinks that he's just giving himself an excuse to stay near the fireplace they made when he tells them to leave him behind to lure the Herrscher of Ice as he prepares the Scepters of Duat to trap her. The "archive file" about him that you can acquire mentions that he used his skills to earn himself a place in the organization called "Thousand Fists" and later the World Serpent.
Raven: Though he looks sloppy, he has the skills needed to solve problems efficiently. Gray Serpent likes to call him an efficient tool.
  • Big Brother Instinct: He wanted to save his little sister during the eruption. When he learned that Ana abandoned his little sister, his grief and anger caused him to become a Herrscher.
  • Code Name: Like other members of the Serpents, he goes by a codename. His real name is later revealed to be "Chen Tianwu" and he's from Philippines.
  • Crosshair Aware: In the final stages of ch. 18, he would go to assist the Herrscher of Ice from afar using the 3rd Divine Key that he stole from Ravennote . In gameplay, a crosshair will follow the player character and red blasts will periodically appear on the ground below them; you can try avoiding them in time. This continues to ch. 19.
  • Cyborg: He reveals to Meinote  that underneath his clothing, 74% of his body has been replaced by cybernetics. He was heavily injured after a 2015 Honkai event in Manila, Philippines, and he joined the World Serpent to get himself cured.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: One of the "files" you can find in ch. 18 contains some info about him. He was the lone survivor of his family during the 2015 Honkai event in Manila as Ana Schariac saved him, and his body got ravaged by Honkai corruption that it forced him to Find the Cure!. He joined an organization called the "Thousand Fists" in search for both a cure for himself and the truth about the Honkai. Later, after Raven brought the Thousand Fists down, she took him into the World Serpent, where he got his codename "Owl" and got himself mechanical replacements for his corrupted body. He's still searching for info about the Honkai using the WS' massive intel network, supposedly due to personal hatred of the Honkai. Chapter 19 shows more of it: back in 2015, he wished to see his little sister, Chen Tianwen, but the Valkyrie squad that tended to him said that they haven't found her, and that he only has about 2 years left to live due to the Honkai corruption of his body.
  • Deadpan Snarker: When Mei tells him that she doesn't need his support, he sarcastically says that he's leaving. When Raven expresses her irritation at this, he says that I Was Just Joking.
  • Declaration of Protection: Near the end of ch. 18, he defends the Herrscher of Ice from Mei when the latter's going to strike her, saying that Ana saved his life once and that he wishes to repay her kindness, so he's going to protect her, even if it costs his life. This repeats in ch. 19 when the Herrscher tries to do a Suicide by Cop with Mei's help.
Owl: Raiden Mei, you'll have to Go Through Me first if you want to kill her...
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Downplayed (change "friendship" to "recruitment"), but this is how he joined the World Serpent: by Raven defeating him and taking him from his old organization.
  • Defecting for Love: As Ana Schariac used to save his life back in 2015 Honkai event, he ends up betraying his teammates when they try to capture the Herrscher of Ice, because he wants to save her in his own way. He's apparently inspired by how someone else i.e Mei can command the power of the Herrscher by her own will and thinks if she (Herrscher of Ice) can do the same, so he wishes to help her to that end.
Owl (to Rita): Nonsense... [She] is not a Herrscher. She is a human.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: In the middle of ch. 18, he tells Mei, who's fighting the Herrscher of Ice, that the Scepters of Duat are ready, and asks her to lure the Herrscher to the designated position. But when Mei gets there and tells him to activate the device, Owl seems to fall silent. Right after that, she finds herself to be the one trapped with the device, leaving her open against the Herrscher of Ice's attack. And when Raven sees this, Owl sneaks behind her back and shoots her with a tranquilizer dart, incapacitating her; he also steals her 3rd Divine Key. Alvitr later reports this to Durandal and Rita, which leads the squad leader to decide to check on them. Later, Raven manages to contact Mei to inform the latter of Owl's betrayal.
    Raven: Owl... You... bastard...!
  • Foreshadowing: He talks to Mei about what the World Serpent is going to do with the captured Herrschers, i.e they're going to end up becoming "vegetables" as their powers are sealed. He feels that it may have sounded cruel because he's talking to Mei, a Herrscher herself. But when the Herrscher of Ice is revealed to them as Ana Schariac, who once saved Owl from a Honkai disaster, he ends up betraying his group to try to save her in his own way, because he fears of what may happen if he lets the World Serpent capture her.
  • Freak Out: He has an epic one in the middle of ch. 19. After he was stabbed In the Back by the completely-corrupted Ana, he slowly loses consciousness, and his mind goes into a "dream" where he sees what happened back in Manila, 2015: he sees his little sister, Chen Tianwen, trapped underneath rubble, struggling to call for help. Ana appears and seemingly comes close to Tianwen, but to his surprise, she runs away for some reason, leaving little Tianwen to die. He screams at Ana in rage over the (perceived) betrayal, and as this happens, his voice slowly becomes heavily distorted and "darkness" erupts from his chest, engulfing him. In the "outside", Mei is suddenly weighed down by a force of gravity, and two "shining lights" appear then merge into a huge dark sphere. Owl basically becomes the new Herrscher of Earth not only out of Honkai corruption but out of sheer rage and sorrow.
  • Fusion Dance: After his Herrscher power awakens, he merges with Ana to become the Herrscher of Stars.
  • Friendship Trinket: A (presumably) more romantic variant: He has a pendant shaped like a half of a heart with blue crystals on it, and there's another pendant with the shape of the heart's other half, owned by Ana Schariac; she apparently lost it when she becomes the Herrscher of Ice. It's the same pendants shown in the Version 4.1 trailer. When he meets the other pendant's owner, he tries presenting his half to her and asks if she still remembers it. He then says it doesn't matter if she remembers it or not, he's going to fulfill "his promise".
  • Gallows Humor: Back in 2015, when he was rescued by Ana Schariac, he asks her what "Honkai" is; he thought that it's like something out of a Zombie Apocalypse story where zombies spread Honkai through their bites. He then went to describe the "zombie cliches" in detail, which disgusted his rescuer.
  • I Owe You My Life: Back in the 2015 Honkai event in Manila, he was saved by Ana Schariac and so he feels he owes her his life. He also declares that he's willing to sacrifice it for her sake, including to prevent Mei from harming her.
  • Kindness Button: A downplayed example. When he explains to Mei that after their Sire seals a Herrscher's power, she may be left a "vegetable" after that, he apologizes, thinking that he might've sounded mean because he's talking to a Herrscher. Raven points out that he's never been "nice" before; he says that they have a Herrscher as their teammate, so he feels he has to.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Befitting a cautious scout, after the Herrscher of Ice stopped them literally cold in their tracks and fled, he tells his fellow agents in ch. 18 that the she is tougher than they thought, and they'd need a better plan to deal with her.
  • Nerves of Steel: Raven tells Mei that back then, he didn't show any reaction to having a blade put on his neck, and it didn't change in the present. While she appreciates his prowess, she hardly likes having him around because she can never tell about what's going on in his head. This makes them unable to figure out that he's going to backstab them until it's too late. The one time he gets highly emotional and raises his voice is when he starts confronting Mei in the final stage, and later, when he screams "Don't hurt Ana!!" to Mei.
  • Rescue Romance: In a flashback in ch. 19, back in 2015, he was trapped underneath rubble after the Honkai disaster in Manila. Just when he thought it's the end for him, somebody came to his rescue and took his hand: Ana Schariac. His rescuer was lovingly described as having a "beautiful face highlighted by the sun and unfurled before him like a portrait painting". He was really grateful for her act, and wished that he can follow her anywhere she goes; she then decided to give half of her pendants to him as a Friendship Trinket and made a promise to "reunite" the pendants if they see each other again.
  • Together in Death: He dies with Ana in his arms, thanking Mei for killing them since they have no place in the world, and gives her both of their Herrscher cores. They are later buried together in the same grave, and their Friendship Trinket pendants are put together on their gravestone.
  • Underestimating Badassery: He calls Mei, the Herrscher of Thunder, "soft" and questions whether she can handle her job in their mission. Raven assures him that their new member has every reason to fight.
  • We Meet Again: He says this towards the Herrscher of Ice in the third act of ch. 18, where he walks closer to her.
Owl: I did not expect us... to meet again like this...

    Misteln Schariac − "Hare"

Voiced by: Fumengruowei * (Chinese), Yuu Kobayashi (Japanese)

Dreamweaver
A World Serpent operative and a psychic who was first off-handedly mentioned in version 4.1 Herrscher files as being absent for a meeting. She was mentioned again in Chapter 24, with her mission having been to go after the Herrscher of Sentience after her rampage through the World Serpent base, but by the time Hare arrived on the scene the Herrscher was already gone.

She only becomes prominent in the final arc of Part 1, in chapter XXXII, where she’s tasked with overseeing the execution of Project Stigma.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: While Misteln is curious about people in general, whenever she displays specific interest in a person, they usually end up hating it rather intensely.
    • Misteln is fascinated by "Seele's" status as a natural Form. "Seele" on the other hand not only finds her interest revolting, she also blames the woman for separating her from Seele on the moon and hates her intensely for it.
    • She already started off on the wrong foot with Shigure Kira due to inheriting her physical characteristics from the latter's idol, Cecilia Schariac, and it only gets worse from there. Even after getting to know her better, Kira finds pretty much everything about Misteln as a person to be annoying and off-putting, be it her personality, philosophy, or her various antics. For her part, Misteln lavishes an unusual amount of attention specifically on Kira, and enjoys messing with her more than anyone else.
  • The Atoner: In the months following Project Stigma, she has been travelling through the Sea of Quanta with Prometheus to hunt down the resulting Abnormal Stigmata in order to protect the inhabitants of the bubble universes. She's also using it as an opportunity to learn more about humans.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: Misteln doesn't really have bad intentions per se, and is actually quite nice. The trouble is, her alien nature as a crystallized Stigmata means she has trouble fully comprehending human behaviors and interactions, and being both highly intelligent yet incredibly whimsical means that figuring out what she's thinking is quite difficult. This, combined with her cheerful yet matter-of-fact manner of speaking means she often seems as if she's talking down to other people, which people find annoying at best and outright insulting at worst.
  • Code Name: While WS agents using only their codemanes to address one another is the norm, their real names are usually easily found from data entries or other places, and their real identities are not deliberately kept secret from the audience. Hare, however, is only ever referred to by her codename even in supplementary content, and for the longest time the only other thing that was known about her was just that she's a powerful psychic. As the crystallized form of the Schariac Stigma, she was born nameless, and the only reason she has the name "Misteln" is because Alexandra Zaychik, the first person whose Stigmata she successfully awakened and thus the first person she ever bonded with, gave it to her, and she kept it to remember her by.
  • Condescending Compassion: Though she's rather pleasant about it, Misteln does sincerely consider Stigmata-based beings like herself to be an advanced form of life compared to humanity. She genuinely likes humans, and would like to coexist, but every interaction she has carries small glimpses of the fact that she looks down on them to a small degree.
  • Connected All Along: Where to even begin? Cecilia's sacrifice not only caused her to cross over into the real world from Stigmata Space, but because she used up the power of her blood which suppressed Honkai energy, the newly born "Schariac" was cursed to endlessly and uncontrollably produce Honkai energy, resulting in continuous Honkai outbreaks wherever she went and fatally poisoning almost every person she ran into, which probably formed a huge part of why Siberia turned into the lawless hellhole it became. Finally, the first person whose Stigmata she successfully awakened was actually Bronya's mother.
  • Death of Personality: Technically speaking, the original "Misteln Schariac" who was awakened following the Second Eruption and was named by Alexandra Zaychik is gone. The reborn "Hare" that the Valkyries meet on the moon inherited her previous iteration's memories and most of her powers, but considers herself a separate being.
  • Death Seeker: Misteln Schariac lived a life of constant torment because of her "curse", and repeatedly tried to kill herself, but nothing worked.
  • Forced Sleep: In her first appearance, she uses her psychic powers to put Mei to sleep with relative ease.
  • The Gadfly: Intelligent, whimsical, and Constantly Curious about human behaviors, she can't help but poke and prod at people's buttons to see how they react, though unlike most examples of this trope it's usually because she's trying to learn more about people rather than get a laugh out of their reactions, though she still might do it just for fun on occasion. People on the receiving end of her attention often find this tendency rather annoying.
  • The Ghost: She's one of the few named World Serpent agents, yet she's initially only mentioned in data entries as a sidenote. More bizarrely, even Raven has never met her in person and acts surprised when Hare suddenly posts a comment on a squid-like quantum creature's database entry. Hare finally makes her debut in Chapter 31-EX... but only as The Voice.
    Hare: What is it?
Raven: What? This person does exist?
  • Late to the Action: According to Raven, Hare was sent to Mount Taixuan to take care of the Herrscher of Sentience, but for whatever reason arrived well after Kiana, Bronya and Fu Hua had already defeated her.
  • Mythology Gag: Her boss fight in Chapter 33 Act 3 is a recreation of the boss fight against Maria Schariac in Guns GirlZ, Cecilia's cousin in that game. Both bear the Schariac family name, use a polearm with the Schariac family banner as a weapon, are aided by their minions fighting alongside them, and can't be hurt until all of their respective minions are killed.
  • One Riot, One Ranger: Her assignment was to go deal with the Herrscher of Sentience situation solo. Considering at this point Sentience has trashed her way through both Schicksal and World Serpent's bases, beaten Durandal, fought Kevin, and that her whole deal is all about mind trickery/psychics, they would have to have been pretty confident about Hare's own psychic abilities to make that decision.
  • Significant Double Casting: She shares a similar physical appearance with and has the same Chinese and Japanese voice actresses as Cecilia. Her description as both a human and stigmata and her bearing the Schariac family crest on her attire heavily imply her to be the "Will of Stigma" for the Schariac family.
  • Walking Wasteland: The nature of her birth following Cecilia's sacrifice caused her to exhibit the aspect of the Schariac bloodline that produces massive amounts of Honkai energy, which summoned endless waves of Honkai beasts and fatally poisoned almost everyone she came across. Worse, in a desperate bid to save someone from herself, she tried awakening people's Stigmata, an act whose infinitesimally low success rate meant that people just died directly by her own hands instead of incidentally. After being reborn via Project Stigma, the second "Hare" doesn't share the curse that "Misteln Schariac" did.

Experiments

    Death Weaver
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/deathweaver.png
A zombie with added cybernetics, it was released deep inside the Heliopolis' undergound lab in the middle of ch. 13, becoming its boss.

  • Armed Legs: Its actual (organic) legs are fitted with blades.
  • Dash Attack: One of its attacks is to quickly dash straight at your character, while extending its blades forward.
  • Degraded Boss: It's reduced to an Elite Mook in its subsequent appearances.
  • Ground Pound: One of its attacks is to jump at your position, trying to smash you. It then leaves a red circle on the ground that slowly depletes your HP.
  • Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: It's a cyborg zombie.
  • Spider Limbs: It has 4 mechanical legs attached to its hips that it uses for walking and attacking.
  • Turns Red: It can occasionally glow red, becoming more resistant to flincing and starting to Spam Attack with 2 blades repeatedly as it walks towards you.

    Tonatiuh
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_495px_tonatiuh_1.png
An otherworldly monster released by Jackal in ch. 14 to fight Kiana. Later, after she and Mei escape, the monster appears again to block their way, but Rita fights it in their place.

  • Floating Limbs: Its arms aren't attached to its body.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: It has 4 large arms that end in pincer-like claws.
  • Pillar of Light: In its "speed mode", it can float up and then generate pillars of darkness that try to track your position.
  • Power Floats: Befitting its otherworldliness, it floats around in the air, sometimes out of your reach.
  • Purple Is Powerful: It's colored mainly purple and it's a rather powerful and tricky boss.
  • Rapidfire Fisticuffs: One of its attacks in "speed mode" is to repeatedly swipe at you with all of its claws, and repeatedly teleport in-between if you try to move away from it.
  • Shaping Your Attacks: It can create quantum energy blocks on its claws and then throw them towards your position repeatedly. The blocks then cause the ground around it to become "tainted" and deal Damage Over Time if you stand near them.
  • Shockwave Stomp:
    • One of its attacks is to emit circular waves on the ground around it multiple times. It can be interrupted with enough heavy attacks.
    • Another of its attacks has it leap up, then try to smash down onto your character, sending waves to multiple directions upon impact. This is its "special move"; evade it to gain a buff that lets you induce Quantum Collapse on it.
  • Stance System: It has a "power mode" and a "speed mode". The former has strong but slow attacks, the latter has weaker but faster attacks.
  • Takes One to Kill One: As a Quantum-type boss, QUA-type characters are strong against it.
  • This Is a Drill: One of its attacks in "power mode" has it create an energy drill on one of its claws, suck your character towards it, and then thrust it towards her.
  • Urban Legend: This monster appears in "Rosemary's Floriograph" event as "The Phantom of St. Fountain". Some say that it's comprised of the souls of people who died in the cataclysm in the city, some others say it might be the very cause of the cataclysm. Einstein and Tesla are initially skeptical about the legend, until the latter runs into the very monster as it is hounding Bronya.

    Stan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kitten_fun_m.png
A Siamese cat from London who has been augmented by the World Serpent's experiments, being granted the ability to turn into a feline Honkai Beast through a special collar. He is the primary antagonist of the London Holiday comic, though never gets to finish his fights against the Valkyries before being taken in by Schicksal to be studied on.

His first in-game appearance is from a mini-event in 3.7, starring Durandal who walks around looking for him. He reappears in version 6.5 for the "Mew Town Escapade" event, accompanying the S-rank valkyries in a trip to London with Susannah and Alvitr.

  • Artificial Hybrid: A hybrid between a normal cat and a Honkai Beast. Normally only hot-pink patches can be seen on his body, but his collar allows him to activate the Honkai Beast genes in his body.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Chapter 14 of Cooking with Valkyries is mostly dedicated to Durandal and Rita making food for him on a can-free day. Sure enough, Stan's interactions with the two Valkyries are as cartoonish as they were in London Holiday.
  • Friendly Enemy: For all intents and purposes he is still loyal to World Serpent... But even despite only being able to act like Durandal's pet cat, he seems to actually enjoy it, and Durandal is a very doting owner.
  • Humiliation Conga: His first fight against Rita gets interrupted by his collar malfunctioning and reverting him to his normal form, and his rematch is cut short by Jackal ordering him to retreat. Then, on his way out, he gets curbstomped by a nonchalant Durandal, losing his collar in the process and leaving him unable to do anything except act like a poor defenseless cat as he's taken in by Schicksal for study. Stan is mortified that acting like Durandal's pet cat is the only thing he can do while captive.
Stan: Damn you, human! Why can't I stop making a fool of myself?
  • Killer Rabbit: Normally just an ordinary cat, World Serpent's collar allows him to transform into a car-sized Honkai Beast that makes Rita, an S-rank Valkyrie, keep her guard on, even injuring her in their first fight. He's also fairly vicious and vindictive even in his base form, smacking a poor schmuck silly when fed up with what he perceives is a lack of respect from humans.
  • Laughably Evil: Stan's lust for power and the ordeals he went through to become a (seemingly) fearsome fighter would be put in a more dramatic light if only he wasn't, well, a cat.
  • Mascot: In A Post-Honkai Odyssey, it's revealed that he is now becoming a "co-host" for Susannah in the "Susannah & Stan" online show and the mascot for Schicksal.
  • Punched Across the Room: Thinking that Durandal is defenceless while in her civvies, Stan, instead of just retreating like Jackal ordered him to, tries to pounce on the Valkyrie, only to get swatted up the ceiling by a backhand flicker of Durandal's wrist. This breaks the collar that activates his Honkai genes and subsequently turns him back into a normal cat.
  • Sitcom Archnemesis: Ever since their battle in London Holiday, Stan and Rita developed a cartoonish rivalry as they trade barbs with each other (readers can understand Stan's thoughts, but the effect is lost on Rita, who launches a plethora of passive-aggressive comments). Even though Durandal decides to adopt Stan, Rita isn't too keen on that, preferring dogs over cats and being a bit of a Neat Freak. Near the end of his focus chapter in Cooking with Valkyries, Stan reconsiders his hostility towards Rita since she served him a nice helping of fishcake tofu, only for Rita to quickly dispel that thought by siccing a cleaning automaton on Stan since he's been shedding plenty of fur.
Stan: RAWRR! (Trusting you was a mistake, female! You're still out to get me!)
  • Spider-Sense: His sensitivity has been heightened to about 10,000 times a normal cat's, so when he senses danger, he's immediately overwhelmed by it. When he comes face to face with Durandal, every fiber of his being immediately tells him to run away. Fortunately, Durandal doesn't see him as a threat after the collar is destroyed.
