Voiced by: Yuki Kaida (Japanese)

A mysterious figure who was found collapsed by Aldo and the others. This stranger's memories were lost, but Clarte has vague memories of Melina and Noah. Due to this condition, it is hard to know exactly what Clarte's true intentions are. Clarte only vaguely remembers hearing a strange voice asking for help in the church headquarters off in the western lands. Following this lead, Clarte travels there to find out the truth.

He is the focus character of the Song of Swords and Wings of Lost Paradise Mythos.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Clary, courtesy of Mistrare.
  • Always Save the Girl: In the final chapter of the Western Mythos, it is revealed that he was (and still is) so loyal to Melina, that his original self crossed the time layer using his Alpha Geo power to save young Melina after she was originally choked to death by Emperor Schnaud - all fully aware that he would doom the rest of the moon by saving her. This was what caused the moon to be devoid of life by the time the party arrives, as soon after the incident he turned into Uranus Menas and annihilated every single living being on the moon except for the "rabbits".
  • Ambiguous Gender: The English localization has Clarte referred to using male pronouns and a masculine voice, but in the Japanese version he's voiced by a female voice actress and referred to in a gender-neutral manner. In addition, gameplay-wise, certain buffs such as AS Shanie's turn-start buffnote  do not affect Clarte, and his non-unique stock motions are the same as the motions for female units. He's also categorized as "Unknown" gender in the game's character search. Interacting with some apparitions of citizens of Lunar Ghost City in the "doomsday" record even has some of said citizens expressing confusion over what Clarte's gender is, and according to one of them, as a vessel for Alpha Geo they created, Clarte was meant to be neither male nor female since it was believed that it would cause imbalance.
  • Amnesiac Hero: He's lost a lot of his memories, with only vague recollections of the Gewuerz members.
  • Apocalypse Maiden: Much like Eden, when unstable Clarte will—and has, in the past—turn into Menas, who is capable of erasing all life within the vicinity of a planet at minimum.
  • Artificial Human: He was created as a vessel for the Alpha Geo by the Paradise scientists, making him similar to the original Eden or Feinne.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: AS Clarte is the first Crystal Lunatic unit of "Mind's Eye" subtype, which allows him to deal increased damage when he hits enemies weak to his elements.
  • Back from the Dead: He dies for real in the finale of the Western Mythos but, post-credits, is revived thanks to — of all people — Emperor Schnaud out of gratitude towards Melina.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: Much of the Mythos involves him being immediately motivated to help the unknown voices he hears, as he can tell they're suffering.
  • Flawed Prototype: He's a prototype for the Geo vessel, but was meant to be discarded a long time ago if not for Melina's interference. Emperor Schnaud refers to him exclusively as the "Geo reject" for this reason.
  • Forgotten First Meeting:
    • He's met Melina from long ago, but she has no recollection thanks to her childhood amnesia.
    • The Gewuerz group loses their memories of Chapter 1 while Clarte loses all of his memories, meaning that for a time, none of them remember meeting Clarte and vice versa.
  • Groundhog Peggy Sue: Chapter 1 of the Mythos has Clarte continuously go through a time loop in order to prevent everyone's deaths at Johann's hands. It ends only when he (or rather, you, as the player) manages to ditch the group before entering the Crystalline Tower alone.
  • Hearing Voices: He can hear the voices of the underworld spirits, which is what kicks off the Mythos.
  • Heroic Sacrifice:
    • Partway through the Mythos, Johann convinces Clarte to become the new vessel for the crystal spirit, meaning that he'd essentially be chained up and forced to suffer while the continent bleeds him dry of blessings. The rest of the group refuses to let him go through with it, however.
    • In the final chapter of the Mythos, using what remains of Alpha Geo power within him, Clarte takes the blast from Teyul Menas' rampage that could have obliterated the moon and the party's home planet alike, and afterwards he turns into the "blessing" with the help of Melina's Stifling Song to save the Zerberiya continent. He gets better after Emperor Schnaud ultimately gives up the perfected Geo vessel he inhabited as his way of repaying the debt he felt obligated to pay after he saw what remained of his dead daughter in Melina as they parted ways.
  • Heroic Willpower: Emperor Schnaud compelled Clarte to kill Melina and then himself, but sheer loyalty to Melina allowed him to defy the order. It's suggested that his resistance was physically destroying him, though, and may have contributed to him becoming Uranus Menas.
  • I Am Who?:
    • In Chapter 6 of "Song of Sword and Wings of Lost Paradise", Johann proposes that the playable Clarte - at least physically - is not the same Clarte from the Chapter 1, who should have been killed by Johann's Stifling Chains. Rather, his body is a copy created from the crystal element just as he was falling to his death, hence why he could no longer open the door to Crystalline Tower on his own like last time.
    • The final chapter reveals that Clarte was a originally a vessel of Alpha Geo element created by the scientists of the Lunar City, which was meant to be discarded after the creation of Geo element was underway - at least, until young Melina intervened and assigned him as her retainer instead.
  • Infinity +1 Element: Clarte's Crystal alignment gives him a general elemental resistance through his Ability Board, unlike others who only resist one. However, while his Crystal skills can consistently get un-resisted hits on most enemies, they can never hit a weakness except on other Crystal-aligned enemies.
  • Made of Iron: He's able to fall from the sky and smash into a statue with no real harm to himself, much to his bafflement when Prai recounts this to him post-amnesia. It's implied he was being protected, but Clarte himself isn't sure of how he survived the fall even with his magical abilities.
  • Martyr Without a Cause: Clarte is worryingly quick to sacrifice himself as a solution to most problems and frequently gets scolded for this over the course of the Mythos. It'd be inaccurate to say he ever truly learns his lesson, as even in his brief appearance in "The 3000 Realm Ark and the Sea Abyss", Sheila criticizes him for being overly considerate to the point of neglecting his own well-being.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: He's classified as a staff user and his 5-star art even depicts him with one, but in terms of his in-game model, he's shown to be a Kung-Fu Wizard who doesn't actually wield staves.
  • Messianic Archetype: He effectively fulfills the role of the Sword-wielding Savior—albeit while dying to do so. Dialogue with an NPC as Melina all but calls him the "god" they were seeking.
  • Mistaken for Romance: With Mistrare in one sidequest, due to a matching emblem on their clothes.
  • Mysterious Past: Even before he lost his memories, just who Clarte is remains unclear, other than that he fell from the sky and seemingly knows quite a bit about Melina before his memory loss, and hinted to be a being that came from the "paradise" throughout the story. The final chapter of the Western Mythos finally goes into detail of who he is and his connection to Melina.
  • Mysterious Stranger: His unique 4-star class is Enigma for a reason. He was planning on explaining everything to Melina once he rescued the unknown voice... but amnesia tends to put a wrench in those sorts of plans.
  • Nice Guy: Rosetta describes Clarte as "someone who likes to look after others" in one sidequest. This is especially true in his interactions with Thillelille and Moke, both of whom tend to invoke exasperation from others; Clarte, on the other hand, is nothing but kind and supportive to them.
  • Power Gives You Wings: After fusing with the Crystal Spirit and gaining control of its power, Clarte sprouts a pair of red wings. With each spirit he absorbs, he grows another pair. As it turns out, the wings are part of his original form.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: In one sidequest, Clarte seems to be perfectly able to understand and communicate with Thillelille's pet Moke, to the point he is able to decipher Moke's Imagine Spot. In "The 3000 Realm Ark and the Sea Abyss", Aldo even asks him to try communicating with Pip for this reason, although Clarte confirms that it's inexplicably only Moke that he can understand.
  • This Is Something He's Got to Do Himself: The first chapter of his Mythos side story involves him finding ways to efficiently excuse the other clergy members from his party, lest they get caught in a doomed battle and remain trapped in a time loop. One mistake will cause everyone else to insist on entering the tower, leading to a Total Party Kill.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Melina, who saved his life and gave him a reason to live.
  • Unkempt Beauty: Clarte has a notably worn-down appearance and even quips that that suits him better than looking put together; nevertheless, he's considered by at least one NPC to be beautiful.
  • Victor Gains Loser's Powers: Defeating the Shade Spirit in Chapter 8 of his Mythos gives a equipment that only Clarte can use, and it's a ring that bestows him with a shade-type magic attack. Completing chapter 9 of the the same Mythos (which inolves defeating the Thunder Spirit) upgrades the ring to give him a thunder-type magic attack.

A woman dispatched from the far west to spread the word of her faith with her familiar Noah. Possessing great magical powers, Melina rose through the ranks of her faith, and is now a Priest, despite her age. Her youthful exterior covers a mature spirit.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Mel, courtesy of Mistrare. The name Melina also turned out to be this, as her younger self requested Clarte to be called as "Melina" instead of "Mercurylina".
  • All of the Other Reindeer: In her past, she was shunned by everyone in the Moon except Clarte — Winged Being and wingless ones alike — due to Emperor Schnaud adopting her and treating her no differently than a Winged Being whereas the rest of the wingless ones had to suffer under his tyranny. To hammer this down, in the Japanese script, if the player interacts with one of the female NPC apparitions in the Schnaud Castle, she refers to her "Princess" title in katakana, indicating it is done in derisive manner.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Despite usually treating Thillelille with exasperation and annoyance, Melina acknowledges her as her rival in Thillelille's AS quest and makes it clear that she does respect her in her own way.
  • Badass Armfold: As depicted in her portrait. She even keeps the pose in combat, letting her spirit wield the weapon for her.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Played with in her Extra Style. Her weapon type changes to fists, but like her other forms, she doesn’t do any of the actual fighting.
  • Beneath the Mask: While she's on the violent and petty side, her AS quest reveals that that's with her really restraining herself and that she has quite a bit of pent up stress.
  • Berserk Button: Melina does not take kindly any reference to her youth, and in her second quest she immediately drew her hammer on Aldo when he accidentally let it slip. As noted below, she has very good reason for it.
  • But Now I Must Go: Thillelille's AS quest serves as an epilogue to the Mythos, in which Melina resigns from the church and leaves the continent with only Clarte as her companion, feeling that her role is over.
  • Child Soldiers: While her exact age is never stated, Melina is already part of the church's Service Corps, one of which duties is to deal with monsters and such despite her youth. The final chapter of the Western Mythos reveals that she is about as young as thirteen years old after the party takes into account of young Melina's age in the recording of the moon civilization's last moments and the time estimate of when it happened.
  • The Chosen One: Many believe her to be the coming of a prophesized figure who will greet the "saviour", leaving her feeling pressured by the expectations.
  • Combat Medic: Her Another Style's unique skills have the ability heal the entire party while dealing damage. She also grants Regenerating Health to all combatants as part of her Valor Chant.
  • Contrived Coincidence: The background on how she became adopted by Emperor Schnaud. After the original Princess Mercurylina passed away before the age of four, her teacher Oslo was relieved from duty by the Emperor. During one of his walks in the outskirts of the city, he stumbled across a human woman and her child who apparently ended up on the moon surface after going through the wormhole by accident, with the child - namely, Melina - inexplicably bore strong resemblance to the late princess and having naturally strong magical powers. Oslo and his wife soon took her in when her mother didn't survive, and she eventually got adopted by Emperor Schnaud.
  • Crystal Dragon Moses: While details are scant, her class name and some of her skills indicate her religion takes a few pages out of Judaism.
  • Does Not Like Spam: She dislikes tomatoes except for one kind, as one sidequest in the Mythos reveals. The sole exception is due to said kind of tomato being the first one to grow in the barren Merlot Ward, thus holding special meaning for her.
  • Dual Age Modes: Her Extra Style turns her into an adult when she decides to fight using her full power, as her normal child form isn’t capable of handling the kind of power she wields once she gets serious.
  • Flying Weapon: How she wields her hammer in battle. Justified by the fact that her spirit wields it for her.
  • Foil: To Mariel. Both are teenagers serving their religion. Mariel is an acolyte despite being a genius healer due to her doubts and insecurities and still a kid at heart, with a staff. Melina is a full-fledged priest and a powerful offensive magic user more stern and mature than most adults, with a big hammer.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Notably, she supports Mistrare when she thinks Mistrare is resolving herself to kill Seze, and is shocked when Mistare actually meant that she wanted to talk her down (and is almost miffed at how Clarte easily backs Mistrare up on that).
  • It Was a Gift: Her adopted father gave her her shoes, which is why she chooses to have them continuously repaired rather than ever replace them.
  • Kill the Ones You Love:
    • In her third character quest. See Mercy Kill.
    • In "Song of Sword and Wings of Lost Paradise", Clarte was dying regardless, but he requests that she use the Stifling Song to convert his essence into blessings—that is, as Melina puts it, to be his executioner. Ultimately, she asks that Milsha and Mistrare allow her to send Clarte off on her own.
  • Lady of War: Her aged-up ES form is beautiful, graceful, and deadly, to the extent that Thillelille idolizes her as the kind of woman she wants to grow up to be—before she realizes it's Melina.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Melina doesn't remember her past prior to her adoptive father found her. Justified, as Clarte erased her memories following the traumatic events in the moon as a child before he sent her off, hoping that she would be able to live normal life in the party's home planet.
  • Magic Music: As "Song of Sword and Wings of Lost Paradise" reveals, her "Stifling Song" skill is actually one, being a song imbued with magical powers. The player gets to hear it in the Chapter 2 of the Mythos.
  • Magic Knight: She stands out among the 5-star characters by having both physical and magical attack options. If her Manifestation weapon is mastered, one of her final skills will also deal both types of damage and inflict sleep on all enemies.
  • Meaningful Name: Her 5-star class is named "Mal'akh", the Hebrew word for "Angel" or "Messenger". She's a high-ranking priest who came to Miglance to find converts.
  • Mercy Kill: Melina was forced to perform this to her own adoptive father in her third character quest, as he was straying increasingly further from their religion's teachings and attempts to make Melina their new "god".
  • Moses in the Bulrushes: She was found by her adoptive father who claims she fell from the sky, but she figures she was merely an abandoned child. In truth, Clarte sent her away to ensure her survival, before he turned into Uranus Menas and wiped out all human life in Paradise.
  • My Greatest Failure: Her second quest reveals that during a mission against a powerful fiend, she let her inexperience due to her age got the better of her and got herself captured by said fiend, leading to a rescue mission by her followers that resulted in some of their deaths - one of which was an elderly priest who became the evil spirit in the aforementioned quest. Since then, she refused to let her age becoming an excuse for her inexperience, and studied really hard to ensure she knows as much as possible to avoid a repeat of said failure. The prologue of her ES Character quest has you play through this particular event, and give her some sense of closure by the end.
  • Never Speak Ill of the Dead: She is not pleased at how the Gewuerz Church's Inquisitors are more than happy to perform posthumous accusation of heresy which, unlike the accusations against living ones, cannot be revoked once given. As such, when they are about to sentence her deceased adoptive father to one (assuming the player has cleared her third quest), she'd rather get herself accused despite her initial defense.
  • Only Sane Man: She frequently plays as this for the Western gang, being the most reasonable one and one who frequently needs to remind the group not to get sidetracked.
  • Really Royalty Reveal: She was adopted by Emperor Teyul Schnaud after she accidentally ended up on the moon, replacing his lost daughter Mercuylina.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The composed and mature Blue Oni to Thillelille's mouthy Red Oni.
  • Religious Bruiser: She is here to preach the word of her religion and will cave a few skulls in if needed.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Emperor Schnaud adopted her as this for his daughter Mercurylina, who died very young.
  • Sadistic Choice: Not unlike Milsha's below, Melina finds herself having to debate whether or not to use the Stifling Song on Clarte. Doing so will overwrite his nature, erasing his memories once more (and losing her opportunity to get back her own), but doing nothing will give them no choice but to use the Stifling Chain on Clarte to put him into a permanent sleep (that, or simply let him rampage). She chooses saving Clarte.
  • Shock and Awe: Her Extra Style adds Thunder type attacks to her arsenal.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Thillelille describes Melina's grownup form as tall and beautiful.
  • Sweet Tooth: Rosetta's second character quest reveals that she likes a certain type of pudding, though she doesn't want to make it public out of fear of being treated like a child.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Melina really cannot catch a break. Her life was terrible on the moon, and her life ended up being terrible on the blue planet too for completely different reasons—tragically so, considering Clarte thought she could finally be happy when he sent her there.
  • Willfully Weak: In-story, her normal outfit is designed to restrict her power levels since her body as a child can't handle them fully, making her more powerful with her combat uniform on (i.e. her Another Style). However, she generally chooses not to wear said uniform since it also removes her inhibitions and causes her to act inappropriately.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Based on her attitude alone, you wouldn't realize how young she is. When the others see records of how she behaved pre-amnesia, they note how different she used to act; in return, Melina points out that the responsibility of being the Winged Child meant she had to grow up fast.

    Milsha
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/101040131_base.png
Click here to see AS Milsha
Voiced by: Azusa Tadokoro (Japanese)

This lady is one of the fishfolk from Atlantica, though she hates to be called so. In fact, she prefers to be called a mermaid. She is friends with a rather immature dolphin-fish named Minchy where she picked up her rather unusual way of talking. She has been searching for her lost brother for some years now and never hesitates to dive into dangerous waters when necessary.

She makes her first appearance in the Song of Swords and Wings of Lost Paradise Mythos.

  • Accidental Proposal: Drinking a mermaid's blood is a traditional way to propose based off a legendary romance between a mermaid and a human. Milsha saves a poisoned Aldo's life by giving him her blood, she explains this aspect of the merfolk's culture, but adds that a complete proposal would involve her drinking Aldo's blood as well.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Mil, courtesy of Mistrare.
  • Apparently Human Merfolk: She has scales on her legs, but she can walk around unnoticed on human streets. People have fished her out of the water, and she is mistakenly labeled as a human. In contrast, Pizzica is all tail below the waist, but she and her kind are termed sirens as opposed to mermaids.
  • Exposed Extraterrestrials: She is usually mistaken as a human that wears provocative clothing.
  • Friend To All Sea Creatures: Milsha is well-loved by sea creatures, and she extends her love to all of what she calls her "friends of the sea." This includes enemy creatures such as Sahuagin and Coelus, so long as they don't harm others.
  • Insistent Terminology: Call her a fishfolk and she'll quickly correct you.
  • Magic Music: One of a few who can also sing the Stifling Song.
  • No Cartoon Fish: Minchy and Milsha both correct Aldo when he panics, thinking that Milsha and Minchy would be offended by him fishing and eating fish. The fish in the game are non-sapient, more realistic-looking and are seen as a food source by both Minchy and Milsha.
  • Sadistic Choice: In the Mythos, she's torn between using the Stifling Song on the shade spirit, knowing that this is effectively brainwashing it against its will, versus choosing not to sing but dooming all of Atlantica as the shade spirit is needed to protect it. In the end, she goes with Take a Third Option by having Clarte take the original shade spirit into himself, keeping it safe from being fully converted.
  • Skewed Priorities:
    • In the Swords and Wings Mythos, she demands that the party kill Leviathan's minions quick... not because they're a threat who might call for backup, but because she finds them gross. Thillelille calls her an idiot for this.
    • In her second Character Quest, a group of conmen want Milsha's mermaid blood. Rather than being wary of the deadly threat, she shouts it's lewd of them, which Aldo appropriately calls her out on.

    Mistrare
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/101050121_base.png
Click here to see AS Mistrare
Voiced by: Mamiko Noto (Japanese)
A mysterious girl with wings like a bird on her back. She calls herself a "winged person." While she was in her home village, her ability to fly was limited by a powerful cursed placed on the area. She is easily moved emotionally about being able to fly freely without any restrictions. Could she have anything to do with the belief in the Winged Being held by the followers of the Order of the West?
  • Affectionate Nickname: Misty, courtesy of Thillelille.
  • All-Loving Heroine: Many people in her village commented that Mistrare is almost too kind for her own good. She is so kind that she has no problems saving the party despite being "wingless ones" who supposedly imprisoned her people in the past, as well as Seze, who is a "ghost" passed down with the duty of punishing the people in her village if they ever try to go outside the village as part of the curse. It all paid off in the end, as her kindness is ultimately what allows the curse binding the village to be broken at last when she jumps off of a cliff to save Seze.
  • Infinity +1 Element: Like Clarte, she has Crystal alignment that allows her attacks to be un-resisted for the most part, in addition to Wind.
  • Magic Music: Like Melina and Milsha, she can also sing the Stifling Song.
  • Mistaken for Romance: One sidequest has an NPC mistake her and Clarte for a couple, due to a matching design on their clothes.
  • The Nicknamer: She has Affectionate Nicknames for everyone in the Western gang (including Aldo and excluding Prai).
  • Pseudo-Romantic Friendship: Her friendship with Seze after Chapter 4 of the Western Mythos can come across as this, as it has romantic undertones such as Mistrare wanting to hold the latter's hand while they were falling off the cliff to the Giant's Claw.
  • Winged Humanoid: Naturally, as a descendant of Those Bearing Wings.

    Prai
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/prai.png
Voiced by: Tatsuhisa Suzuki (Japanese), Rory Fleck Byrne (English)

Prai is a bishop from an order of priests who focus on charity. His large build and powerful overwhelming fighting style, as well as his zeal, have given him the nickname "Fiery Friar." Something he is oblivious about.

  • Butt-Monkey: When his other clergy members are involved, Prai is somehow always part of the punchline.
  • Crazy-Prepared: After Clarte knocked him unconscious, he starts wearing a metal neck-brace to avoid that mistake again. This ends up saving his life in a sub-quest when he takes a blow for Rosetta, and the neck-brace saves him from death.
  • Crisis of Faith: In the quest to obtain his 5-star class, he struggles with what to believe in after the events of the Mythos, given that the "god" he preached about never existed in the manner that he spoke of.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: While this is no surprise for anyone coming from Zerberiya Continent given its nature, Prai's third character quest reveals that he was formerly a misanthropic street thug in the Merlot Ward that resorted on thievery and such to make ends meet until he was arrested by the Gewuerz Church, only for one of the senior priests there decided to take him under her wing instead of letting him be thrown to jail. Despite being distrustful of her at first, Prai began to reform after finding out that his mentor had been secretly swapping her own ration with his so he would get better nutrients, which deeply ashamed him.
  • Face of a Thug: Thillelille describes him as having a scary face, much to his dismay.
  • Friend to All Children: Talking to a child NPC in the end of "Song of Sword and Wings of Lost Paradise" Chapter 5 reveals that the children of Merlot Ward take a liking on him despite his intimidating appearance.
  • Heroic BSoD: His second character quest has him unable to turn a child away from crime, leaving him in a temporary state of depression as he mulls over his failure. Coming to terms with this is a central part of his 5-star upgrade quest. Given his own Dark and Troubled Past, it is understandable why he felt so shaken by his failure.
  • Heroic Build: We get to see him shirtless during his 5* quest, and he is absolutely ripped under those robes.
  • Hidden Depths: Inverted. Rosetta hates him because he doesn't have any—he's so straightforward and honest that he has nothing to hide.
  • Hot-Blooded: His passion earns him the "Fiery Friar" nickname. He is a little offended that, when he gets transported into Purgatory, he is transformed into a Minimander (one of Salamander's minions) instead of something more worthy of Salamander himself. After his 5-star class unlock, he's so hot-blooded that his sermons can set his surroundings on fire.
  • Large Ham: Expect a bombastic and zealous speech everytime Prai speaks.
  • Ma'am Shock: Male example. He immediately gets drained of energy every time people (especially children) address him as "Mister Prai" and proceeds to correct them that he is still in his twenties, indicating it is a fairly sensitive thing for him.
  • Morton's Fork: He is briefly presented with one in Chapter 5 of "Song of Sword and Wings of Lost Paradise", when the people of Merlot Ward requests him to take credit for the newly-arrived supplies to keep up the spirits of the people there - particularly the child NPC he helped because said NPC distrusts other priests.
    • If he accepts, the child NPC definitely will not refuse the supplies (which his sickly mother desperately needs), but lying goes against the teaching of his faith and - if Rosetta's line is any indication - he will be dragged to the inquisition room afterwards.
    • If he refuses, he upholds the teaching of his faith, but the child NPC will refuse the supplies despite his mother's situation and will probably be in even worse state than before, which will weigh Prai's conscience all the same.
    • In the end, Prai chose to Take a Third Option by telling the child that the supplies came from their God as sign that He has not abandoned them. This allows Prai (and the child NPC) to stay true to the teachings of their faith, while also convincing the child to accept the supplies.
  • Punny Name: Prai can be read as "Pray", and what does a member of the church do? Pray.
  • Taking the Bullet: One of his skills of his 5* class allows him to take hits for the entire party for a turn (and has priority to ensure it goes first), including the Herd-Hitting Attack (where Prai'll take multiple hits instead of one). He also gets a constantly-active Hold Ground while this is active, preventing him from dying while covering for his allies. However, it stuns him after use and costs an exorbitant 250 MP.
    • He takes an attack from a monster for Rosetta. Thankfully, the metal brace he put on his collar a while back saved his life.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: After practically spending the Mythos chapters as the punching bag for the other clergy members, Chapter 5 of "Song of Sword and Wings of Lost Paradise" finally gives him a positive spotlight as a well-respected priest in the Merlot Ward. Later on, after the entire Mythos is cleared, Prai also gets a 5* class after completing some quests.
  • Younger Than He Looks: He's still in his twenties, but people tend to assume that he's older than that.

    Rosetta

Voiced by: Manami Numakura (Japanese)
A woman with a certain special presence who works as an inquisitor in the distant western continent. "No one exists in this world without something to hide" is a phrase she strongly believes. It is rumored that none have escaped once they have been called into her interrogation room and deemed guilty of sin. It is said that people fall silent when the pass by her.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Rose, courtesy of Mistrare.
  • Break His Heart to Save Him: In her Another Style quest, she tried to do this to her adoptive sister Lily, pretending that she ruined her adoptive family on purpose to goad her sister to take the Dantalion Codex once again to reclaim their father's lost memories of Lily. It seemed to work at first until Aldo calls her out on it and pointed out how it won't solve anything in the end.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Two-fold.
    • As her third character quest reveals, despite her reputation as Child of Judgment, she was looked down and shunned upon in the seminary as a child due to being a child of heretics.
    • Her Another Style quest also reveals that after separated from her birth parents, she was taken in by a member of the seminary as his own child and has an adoptive sister named Lily, providing the family warmth she missed. However, when their father fell ill, Lily ended up in a demonic cult in her desperate attempt to save their father and Rosetta was set up to bust her during her final inquisitor trial, causing her to be branded as heretic and exiled. When this happened, their father nearly went insane, and due to grief, he started seeing Rosetta as her adoptive sister instead.
  • The Dreaded: She's a famous inquisitor who has only ever failed once to get someone to confess to sin. (Prai. It was Prai.) Her fellow clergy members, Melina and Thillelille, get foreboding chills whenever they get a hint of her presence.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Thanks to being The Dreaded (not helped by her tendency to tease people). She's surprised when Clarte actually wants to hear about her work, rather than grimacing like the others do.
  • Headbutting Heroes: She doesn't get along with Prai at all, despite being in the same line of work.
  • Humanizing Tears: Rosetta deliberately presents herself as unlikable and is fairly prone to Crocodile Tears, but the facade breaks in her third character quest, which reveals she has reason to act the way she does and where she cries for real over wishing she could've met her parents again.
  • Nun Too Holy: Despite being part of religious order, Rosetta is not above making suggestive jokes to mess with people to get a reaction from them. She also doesn't believe in the Light despite her ability to memorize scriptures and religious texts perfectly, although she is making attempts to revisit her faith at the end of her third character quest after getting closure over what happened to her parents.
  • Self-Made Orphan: Rosetta is rumored to sentence her own parents as heretics and caused them to be executed as a very young child, hence her reputation. The truth is not as it seems - she did cause her parents to be branded as heretics due to accidentally saying about her and parents "going on a trip" (i.e. her parents were helping out a man washed ashore from the central continent during the time of the church's extreme isolationist policies). How she came into the reputation was the doing of the previous Supreme Cardinal.
  • Single-Use Shield: Her main healing skill line also has an added perk of preventing the next ailment from affecting those she heals. She is the first unit with skills that have this perk.
  • The Smart Guy: She serves as this for the Western gang. When Aldo actually figures something out first, the others express surprise it wasn't Rosetta or Clarte.
  • Stalker without a Crush: To Melina, whom she regularly follows under the pretense of wanting to uncover heresy, but it's really because of adoration for her.
  • The Tease: She likes to mess with Aldo just to get a reaction from him. In her Another Style quest, she gladly accepts Aldo's usual offer of help... only to reveal later that what she is about to do and supposedly needing his help is to change her clothes, causing him to get flustered and immediately backpedaling.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Or rather, Token Anti-Hero Teammate. Compared to the other party members, Rosetta is willing to be more unscrupulous in her methods, seeing it as Bad Guys Do the Dirty Work.
  • Tragic Keepsake: The Dantalion Codex shown in her Another Style illustration is this for Rosetta as a reminder of what she inadvertently caused to her adoptive family.
  • Tsundere: Her second quest has her make up a task of investigating Melina for heresy as an excuse to hang out with her. Also, she absolutely does not like cats.
  • You Keep Using That Word: When panicking or flustered, Rosetta will randomly scream "heresy", even to a non-believer like Aldo is. Aldo calls her out on it.

Voiced by: Inori Minase (Japanese), Scarlet Grace (English)
A young lady who has declared herself to be the reincarnation of the Sword-wielding Savior. Such a claim would normally be considered heresy by the western church who revere the Sword-wielding Savior as a god, however, the inquisitors appear to not take her very seriously. While capable in her own right, she is doomed to play second-fiddle to the other famed child prodigy in the church.
  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: She likes administering this, apparently, especially to Prai. She will also get mad if no one wants to be patted by her.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Thilly, courtesy of Mistrare.
  • Always Second Best: She is apparently this to Melina, something she is not too happy about and fuels her rivalry towards Melina. Not only Melina is of higher rank than she is, but people also tend to take her more seriously than they do towards Thillelille.
  • Bad Boss: Played for Laughs. In the second chapter of "Song of Sword and Wings of Lost Paradise", she is not above the idea of using Prai as a Human Shield. Or using his height to have him take lightning bolts in the Barbera Untrodden Area, for that matter.
  • Bad Liar: When Rosetta takes her into the interrogation room, it doesn't take much for Thillelille to slip up.
  • Big Ego, Hidden Depths: It's easy to dismiss her as shallow, arrogant, and childish at first, but underneath the attitude are surprisingly heartwarming reasons for why she acts the way she does.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: While she is sincere with her intentions, Thillelille's desire to prove her worth means she can be quite a loudmouth and attention-seeking.
  • Casting a Shadow: First of the playable units who uses the Shade element.
  • Child Soldiers: Like Melina, she is already part of Service Corps despite her youth, though her exact age is never stated. Until the final chapter of the Mythos, that is - she is fourteen, making her one year older than Melina.
  • Color Failure: In Melina's ES quest, when Thillelille realizes the identity of the woman she was fawning over.
  • Crystal Dragon Jesus: At least, she claims to be the reincarnation of the Sword-wielding Savior, which considering the Christian theming of the Western religion, she's basically claiming to be this world's version of Jesus.
  • Dual Wielding: Wields two swords in an attempt to mimic the Sword-wielding Savior.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: No one goes along with her being the Sword-wielding Savior, much to her frustration, and she's often reminded that everyone thinks of Melina and her Service Corps first, despite the strength of Thillelille and her own corps.
  • Flying Weapon: She wields her swords telekinetically. However, she is stronger when she holds them in her hands.
  • Foil: To Melina. Both child prodigies within their church who supposedly are core figures of their religion. But whereas it's assumed that Melina is the Winged Child who will welcome their god, Thillelille's declaration that she's the reincarnation of the Sword-wielding Savior is treated as childish bravado. Both use magic to wield their favored weapons. Melina does so because it allows her to compensate for her physical weakness with her abundant magical power. Thillelille does so to copy Melina, but actually is a more effective fighter when she relies on her physical ability. Both have unusual familiars, but where Melina chastises Noah's tendency to put itself in harms way to help, Thillelille laments that if Moke insists on following her it should at least try to be helpful like Noah...
  • Friend to All Children: She's popular among the children in the church.
  • Glass Cannon: Possesses great Power but middling Speed and defensive stats. Her Lunatic buff makes her even glassier by exchanging some of her defenses for more damage, but when she attacks, she delivers.
  • A God Am I: Essentially the case every time she calls herself the Sword-wielding Savior. It leads to a gem in Chapter 6 of the Mythos, where she's scolded for her defiant behaviour defending Melina, being "before god" in the Holy Court:
Thillelille: Thillelille is your god! The Sword-wielding Savior is right here! And upon deliberation, your god objects to this whole thing!
  • The Paragon: She reveals that she calls herself the Sword-wielding Savior not just to declare herself The Chosen One, but as a means of stating that she will devote her life to helping others. To that end, she comments on how more people should actually be doing the same; that is, everyone should strive to be the "savior" and make their land a better place.
  • Precocious Crush: She quickly gets jealous in one quest when she learns that a lady in Merlot Ward has taken a romantic interest in Prai, and starts crying when she encourages him to marry her. Her mood doesn't improve until she learns that he refused the proposal and then becomes furious with him for playing with her heart when she realizes that his declaration of devotion towards herself wasn't the romantic proposal that she initially thought it was.
  • Proper Tights with a Skirt: Both her normal and Another Style forms have her dress in this way (in contrast to Melina who either wears a full length dress or shorts with tights), presumably due to her being a member of the clergy.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The hot-headed Red Oni to Melina's stoic Blue Oni.
  • Refuge in Audacity: Normally, as Aldo questions at one point, claiming to be the reincarnation of a religion's god should have been a great heresy. However, Thillelille's claim as the reincarnation of the Sword-wielding Savior is apparently so outlandish that Rosetta sees it as not worth to be taken seriously.
  • Religious Bruiser: Like with Melina, her job when not finding God is basically to slay monsters and protect people in the name of the church.
  • Smarter Than They Look: While typically an air-headed brat, she can be surprisingly perceptive, such as being the only member of the group who realizes that Clarte is discreetly trying to ditch them.
  • Sweet Tooth: People like to offer her sweets, which she happily takes.
  • Third-Person Person: Downplayed, since she alternates between referring to herself by name and personal pronouns.
  • Tsundere:
    • Despite refusing to admit it, the reason Thillelille works hard to surpass Melina is so that Melina doesn't have to shoulder expectations placed on her by herself. In Chapter 6 of the Western Mythos, she also delivers a massive "The Reason You Suck" Speech to the Holy Court when they are ganging up on Melina while being accused of heresy, questioning how they can just sit back and pray while Melina has been working hard for them and why the church blame Melina for the Winged Child title (something the Holy Court accuse her of committing heresy for) while the first one who called her Winged Child was her adoptive fathernote  and the church followed suit, dropping a heavy responsibility for her in the process.
    • She can be rude to Moke and acts as though she doesn't care when it seems to prefer Clarte over her, but deep down she's very attached to it and was clearly feigning her indifference.
  • The Unchosen One: In case it wasn't clear, she's not actually the reincarnation of anything. However, past all of her theatrics, that's the point she's trying to make: one doesn't need to be chosen by any prophecy to step up and become a savior.
  • Unknown Rival: She considers herself to be Melina's rival, while Melina mostly just tries to ignore her existence. In Thillelille's AS quest, though, the two share a sincere moment where Melina finally acknowledges her.
  • Verbal Tic: In the Japanese script, she tends to end her sentences with "~nanodawa".
  • Willfully Weak: Her Character Quest reveals she's actually far stronger while actually wielding her swords rather than holding them with magic, but due to Melina holding her hammer with her magic she feels like she HAS to do it as well in order to surpass her.
