Civilian Ali

Ali bin Ghazali is the titular character of the Agent Ali series. A naive 12-year-old boy who is recruited by M.A.T.A after he accidentally received I.R.I.S from Wak Musang.

  • All-Loving Hero: Downplayed. Ali does care about protecting innocents and is a Genius Ditz Nice Guy at his best. However, he at his worse can be petty and quick-judge toward anyone who he considers as a smug person.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Ali aims a piercing question towards Rudy which almost gets him beaten up by him when Rudy still refuses to believe that Djin is a traitor to M.A.T.A..
Ali: If he's such a great person, WHY DON'T YOU JOIN HIS SIDE?!
  • Battle Tops: He inherits Aliya's collection of gasing or tops. They can be thrown as projectiles and ricochet off targets, or generate shields.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Misi:Buru reveals that he and Alicia are the only young agents of their branch to still be in elementary school while everyone else is in high school or middle school. Compared to Alicia, he's also a lot less mature.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Since Kim was the only international agent to show no hostility to him or his friends, he doesn't turn on her in one of the competitions and protects her from the other students, robots and mentors.
  • Book Dumb: While Ali is not completely dumb, he has poor grades at school due to his laziness. Once he gets his act together, Ms. Munah mentions they have improved to the point they are no longer of concern. However, he's shown to be rather poor at Science.
  • Bifurcated Weapon: In Season 3, he merges his own yo-yo with his mother's tops to create a hybrid weapon. Two tops form two halves of a yo-yo that function like his old one, but have increased range due to no longer being attached to a string. They can still create shields that levitate due to the TEKNO magnet suit and can be dual-wielded. Of course, he can still throw them as Aliya does.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: When Ali activates I.R.I.S's Override Mode due to his overwhelming negative emotions, I.R.I.S' data (or more like Aliya's "data") will completely take control over his mind and body, resulting in Ali becoming insanely unstoppable and powerful.
  • Break the Cutie: Goes through some tribulations throughout the show, but retains his morals (and optimism) thanks to his uncle Bakar and his allies.
  • Broken Pedestal: After he accidentally hurts his friends after being taken over by the Override Mode when he saw Rizwan's "defection", Ali is blamed for what he did by many young agents. It gets worse after Rudy rudely calls him out on his reckless actions and makes the other agents distrust him, causing him to fall into a deep sadness and want to quit.
  • Character Development:
    • Starts off as a naive boy even as an agent, he relies on the I.R.I.S too much which made him believe it made him a great agent. He gradually grows up from this mentality, especially in the movie, where he becomes more tough and confident that he can be a good Super Agent even without I.R.I.S.
    • Season 3 has him stay true to his and his mother's pillar as a Tekno agent by adopting gadgetry skills without I.R.I.S. He also learns how to think like his former gadget after relying on it for so long.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Once he enters Override Mode, he becomes unstoppable and will attack anyone who tries to stop him.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: Of the Stock Shōnen Hero. Ali is often called out on his hotheadedness, naivete and clumsiness because he has no past experience on being an agent. These flaws play realistically on Ali which results in him being hard to be trusted by anyone and slowed his training progress.
  • Discard and Draw: Zig-Zagged. Played straight in the movie when his Yo-yo gets destroyed, gets IRIS confiscated and acquires his mother's weaponized tops. Downplayed in Season 3 when his Yo-yo is repaired or replaced and uses them together but still does not regain IRIS. When he gets the Tekno magnet suit his tops become his main weapon with the Yo-yo used mostly as a shield and lasso.
  • Fatal Flaw:
    • His recklessness and overconfidence. Ali was too overconfident that he believed I.R.I.S made him become a great agent. As a result, the accident that he caused in MISSION : Return made him believe it was I.R.I.S' fault that it caused him to be completely controlled by it and go berserk instead of realizing that the fault was caused by his own recklessness. The consequence of this led to him getting bullied by Rudy and his gang.
    • His hotheadedness. Agent Zain points out that Ali's hotheaded side results in him having a hard time befriending Alicia to learn more from her, making his progress as an agent somewhat slow. Zain knows Ali doesn't like her due to her arrogant side because she is always better than him. However, instead of continuing to dislike her, Zain wanted Ali to learn more about being an agent from Alicia since she has more experience than him.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Ali and Kim team up in the second round of the Arena to defend themselves from the droids and senior Agents. They work together to defeat their mentors and the droids by performing combination attacks.
  • Genius Ditz: At his best, Ali has shown his talent in creating gadgets, although he is known to be clumsy, headstrong and lazy.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: Every time he uses Override Mode, the I.R.I.S. he wields glows white in a manner that obscures his eyes from being seen. These eyes indicate when it's the I.R.I.S. that's in control instead of him, almost making him impossible to beat.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • He is smart enough to create useful gadgets if he puts some effort into it after learning that he's a Techno agent.
    • The Raya holiday 2021 short MISI: RESIPI (Mission: Recipe) reveals that Ali can bake thanks to the recipe book his mother left behind.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: After becoming a Super Agent and his heroic actions went viral due to him saving Auntie Faye, Ali decides to create his superhero identity named "Cyberwira" to be acknowledged as a hero instead of just a normal, lazy elementary school student. But Bakar wants him to keep his identity as an agent secret due to their agency's rules.
Bakar: We're recruited as agents to protect the people, we're not doing it for fame!
  • In the Blood: As hinted by Chief Dayang and to the surprise of Agent Ganz, Ali is related to another M.A.T.A top agent, who is revealed in the film Agent Ali: Mission Neo to be his mother, Aliya.
  • In the Hood: He wears a green hoodie-jacket in the movie when he joins Niki's side and steals Azurium weapons with them.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: He has had two pet cats, the previous one was Labu and Comot is the current pet cat.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: His preferred method of using his yo-yo is to spin it really fast to deflect and block attacks while also resembling a shield.
  • Mid-Season Upgrade: After the movie, he loses I.R.I.S., but gains his mother's weaponized spinning tops. And in the third episode of Season 3, he gains a magnetic suit that gives him more control and power over using them.
  • Missing Mom: His mother, Aliya, passed away before the start of the series.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: He helps Niki and her thugs steal Azurium and lots of Cyberaya technology, unknowing that she wanted to use it to destroy the city for revenge.
  • Power Glows: Overlaps with Tron Lines, after he fully masters Override Mode in his battle against Niki, his body is lined with glowing blue lines, even up to the hair.
  • Rebuilt Pedestal: After being motivated by Chief Zain, Alicia and Khai, Ali creates a new gadget called "ATLAS" so they can use the same technology as the I.R.I.S to gather information of the enemies and coordinate the best formation of attack. This results in him being welcomed back by most of the other young agents.
  • Rookie Male, Experienced Female: Ali is a complete rookie agent who lacks experience and knowledge about the agency, compared to Alicia who was trained as an agent under M.A.T.A. since she was young.
  • Running Both Sides: In the movie, he secretly sides with Niki after he learns that she used to be his mother's best friend. He wants to help save the slum citizens while still active as an agent. Until he realizes that Niki had already gone too far.
  • Stock Shōnen Hero: Deconstructed. Ali starts off as a naive and lazy student who prefers gaming and performs poorly in studies. When he becomes a M.A.T.A agent, he isn't as good as Alicia who was trained since she was young, and is constantly underestimated due to being weak and naive. After receiving training from senior agents, Ali starts to show his potential to become a great agent. Unlike typical shonen-like character, Ali doesn't rely too much on The Power of Friendship and he has a hard time retaining the trust of many characters, including his own father and uncle.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Ali bears a strong resemblance to his mother, Aliya. He also has her personality and determination.
  • Take Up My Sword: He continues his mother's legacy as a Super Agent. Although he needs a lot of time to progress and make himself tough in battles and missions.
    • This goes for the equipment as well. At first, he starts using IRIS, her greatest invention. When it is confiscated, he gains access to her personal weapon, a bunch of weaponized gasing.
    • Deconstructed in the movie and season 3. He's using equipment made by his mother from an earlier generation, which means they're old and outdated, and must be replaced with an upgrade.
  • Tareme Eyes: Ali has droopy and innocent eyes, showing his naive, dorky and adorable nature.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: He doesn't like to be paired with Alicia at first due to their arrogance and prideful personalities causing them to bicker with each other during missions, resulting in them being scolded by General Rama.
  • Trademark Favourite Food: A Facebook post mentions that his favorite food is Nasi lemak with Tempoyak Udang. It's also supported in the very first episode where Ali wants to buy some from Wak Musang.
  • Tragic Keepsake: The original I.R.I.S turns out to have been created by Aliya, his deceased mother.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Although Ali is not physically strong, he is a skillful agent after receiving motivation and training from the senior agents.

    Alicia Kheng

Alicia Kheng

Civilian Alicia
The deuteragonist of Agent Ali. A Class Representative from Ali's class, NEURO agent of M.A.T.A and adopted daughter of General Rama.
  • Academic Alpha Bitch: While she's one of the smartest students in the school, it's shown that she's rather hard to approach. She outright looks down on Ali and does everything in her power to make his life difficult, at least until he saves her life.
  • The Ace: Of the Young Agents, she is shown to be the most skilled and experienced, only ever being rivaled by Rudy or needing Ali to screw up in order to be beaten. It becomes solidified when she becomes the next M.A.T.A Arena Champion, wherein she's even stronger with IRIS in her arsenal.
  • Action Girl: It's pretty much required for her to be a M.A.T.A. agent.
  • Affectionate Nickname: The members of "Mamak Maju" call her "Icha".
  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: Black hair, almost never smiles.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Shown especially in season 3, where she blushes a lot when Kim takes photos with her, calling her cute, as well as when Iman, Zass, and Kim tease her about Ali. More with Kim, being the first person Alicia ever hugged, or called genuinely complimented.
  • Daddy Issues: While she was already fully trained since she was young and decided to follow her parent's footsteps as agents, her father, General Rama, never let her join missions because she was "too young" and preferred to trust Ali due to the fact that he can use the I.R.I.S, which made Alicia think that General Rama was playing favourites to Ali. This could also be the reason why she is mean to Ali so much and prefers to work alone. After the Numeros' first raid at their base, General Rama decides to trust Alicia to protect Ali and the I.R.I.S since she is his classmate, and Alicia no longer seems to have these issues.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Constantly aloof, constantly sarcastic.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Initially she doesn't like to work alongside Ali, but after being saved by him from the Azurium explosion, she starts to get cooperative with him.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite everything she does to Ali, she can't stand physical bullying.
  • Family of Choice: She doesn't know anything about her real parents or her biological family due to them having already passed away and her being adopted by Rama when she was an infant. Thus, Alicia has Undying Loyalty towards M.A.T.A agents, including Rama, and says they are already part of her family.
  • Foreshadowing: Rama is of Malay Indian-descent while Alicia is of Malay-Chinese descent. Neither the series nor the magazine-comic confirmed if Rama is a married man or a widower. In the movie, it turns out that Rama is her adoptive father all along, while her biological parents have already passed.
  • Formerly Fat: Agent Razman mentions that she used to be quite chubby as a toddler.
  • Good Is Not Soft: While she is an overall decent and honorable person, being The Ace at both M.A.T.A Academy and her school, she never puts aside her pride.
  • Handshake Substitute: She uses a fist bump similar to Agent Zain's signature hand shake with Ali when she congratulates him at their training. Ali quickly realises this, and Alicia replies that she knew it because Ali is not the only one who became his "secret student", much to his surprise.
  • Happily Adopted: In Mission:Neo, it's confirmed that General Rama is her adopted father.
  • I Owe You My Life: It is clear that being saved by Ali from the Azurium explosion is what started her friendliness towards him.
  • Mid-Season Upgrade: In the third episode of Season 3, she gains a high-tech bow that allows her the fire powerful energy arrows.
  • Not So Above It All: Being one of the aces, Ali knows Alicia always appears to be the best from all the students/young agents. However, when another young agent named Rudy appeared in season 2, she's not sure if she's able to defeat him.
  • Only Friend: Mia is presumably her only schoolfriend.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Her default expression is a constant frown. It sticks even when she starts to get along with Ali.
  • Pet the Dog: Any moment she does something nice for Ali.
  • Promotion to Opening Titles: Alicia is finally featured in Season 3's opening intro.
  • Quit Your Whining:
    • In season 2, when Ali attempts to apologize to her for stealing her ID card and sneaking into M.A.T.A Academy to learn about the Mentors' secret mission, Alicia punches him and tells him to stop whining about everyone refusing his apology.
    • In the movie, when Ali realizes he was wrong for helping Niki just because she was his mother's best friend who also caused her tragic death, Alicia yells at him to stop whining and states that he is not alone since he still has his uncle and his father, while she has neither since she lost her parents when she was an infant.
  • Raised by Dudes: She lost her parents in her infancy, and was later adopted and raised solely by Rama as her adopted father. It's stated that his "Mamak Maju" gang was involved with her upbringing.
  • Rookie Male, Experienced Female: Alicia is an experienced young agent who was trained as a child and whose father is an important member of M.A.T.A, while Ali is a complete rookie agent who still lacks experience and knowledge about the agency.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: Roza believed Alicia defended Ali because she used her status as "daughter of a M.A.T.A general" to make Ali be reaccepted by them. In truth, it's all because Ali saved her life that Dos almost ended in season 1.
Alicia: I know what you're all feeling, I thought the same thing too. Even though he's still a beginner, Ali has defended M.A.T.A... and saved a lot of people. We should all help him to be a better agent, and NOT look down on him!
Roza: So what? You think just because you're the General's daughter, we have to listen to you?
  • Stock Shōnen Rival: A rare female example. Compared to Ali, Alicia is The Ace both in their school and as a M.A.T.A agent. Unlike Ali who became an agent out of his luck to be able to use the I.R.I.S, Alicia became an agent after receiving extensive training since a young age and her father is a M.A.T.A general.
  • Tomboy : Alicia is a tough, serious and level headed girl. As a child, she had already taken interest to be trained as a secret agent, despite her father not allowing her, and in school, she is an Academic Athlete and one of the best students in her class. It makes sense since she was raised solely by Rama. In fact, the only feminine things about her that she sports a headband, has a bob haircut and has no problem wearing a skirt or dress even though she's rarely seen doing so.
  • Trying Not to Cry: Even though she did shed a single tear at the M.A.T.A memorial monument while mourning Chief Zain's death, Alicia pushes herself to act like her usual self in front of the others, even motivating Ali to continue to follow Chief Zain's heroic path.
  • Tsundere: Type A. She is a harsh, prideful and tough agent who is majorly put off by Ali's flaws. However, she has her own way of being warm and caring to him.
  • When She Smiles: Since she's a Perpetual Frowner, the times she does smile tend to be significant.

    Agent Bakar

Agent Bakar/Bakar Baharom

Voiced by: Shafiq Isa, Zalhazmi Abdul Hami (In flashbacks) (Malay), Bill Butts (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/agent_bakar.png
Ali's uncle and one of the senior agents of M.A.T.A. He is responsible with training and guiding Ali to become a great agent.
  • Acrofatic: His weight doesn't seem to hinder him in combat.
  • Alliterative Name: Bakar Baharom.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Shown to have some feelings towards Jenny, though the latter's only response is annoyance. In Season 2, he still can't handle Jenny being The Mole, even with all the other agents knowing she's far gone.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Sure, he might be goofy at times, but he is still a formidable fighter who is on par with the other mentors in the M.A.T.A. academy. Season 3 also implies he was at least in the Top 4 of his class, as it would be the only way he would be promoted in ranks.
  • Big Eater: If his physique doesn't make this obvious, maybe the fact that he eats whenever he has free time will.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Well, it's part of the M.A.T.A. KOMBAT uniform, but it counts.
  • Casanova Wannabe: A Running Gag is that he often flirts with the enemy, more specifically Dos and Cinco, though he does sort of drop the habit after the first raid of Numeros and The Reveal of Jenny's identity as The Mole.
  • Comically Missing the Point: His reaction after meeting Jenny again after her reveal as The Mole. He doesn't comprehend the fact at all, instead believing that she left due to an interest over Trez.
Bakar: What is this, Jenny? Can't you see? ...Oh. She's not wearing her glasses.
Jenny: [Releases Busterdroid arm at Bakar and sighs] You still haven't realized, have you?
Bakar: [Fails to deduce what it is, gives up] What is it?
Ali: Uncle, she is... an enemy spy...
    Bakar: WHAT?
    Jenny: [Exasperated sigh]
Bakar: So, you're actually friends with this hideous beefy guy? [points at Trez]
Jenny: [Calmly stops angry Trez] It's okay, Trez. I can handle him.
  • Cool Uncle: He's usually the one to give Ali support, and plays the role of a parental surrogate.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite sometimes playfully teasing everyone around him, Bakar still considers the pranks, food wars and fighting between the young Agents and the international Agents during the second round in "Payback" to be petty actions. He also scolds his own nephew for joining them by reminding him that his mother would never do such things.
  • Hopeless with Tech: Deconstructed. His lack of experience with technology often puts him at a disadvantage in battle, which General Rama calls him out on.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Can you believe that he once advised Ali to eat healthily?
  • Master of Disguise: It's often Played for Laughs that he would have a lot of Paper-Thin Disguise paired with a fake mustache. However, said disguises do work and fool a lot of villains and civillians.
  • Mistaken for Spies: M.A.T.A grew suspicious of him and thought that he was Uno or the person in cahoots with Uno. Even Rizwan is suspicious of him. In MISSION : UNO, when the real Uno appeared and turned out to be Chief Djin, it's confirmed that Jenny was the one who set up this scenario because they needed to take I.R.I.S from Ali by separating Bakar from Ali since he is his uncle.
  • Nice Guy: Moments of badassery in battle aside, he's usually pretty jovial and friendly.
  • Secret-Keeper: As a M.A.T.A agent, Bakar is the only Ghazali and Baharom family member who knew Aliya's secret job as a M.A.T.A Super Agent. Ironically, he has no idea about his sister's involvement with Niki before she was recruited as an Agent.
  • Shout-Out: He looks like someone's uncle dressed up as Ash Ketchum given the blue armor, the spiky black hair and especially the red and white cap.
  • Stout Strength: Despite his appearance, he is still one of the toughest KOMBAT agents.
  • Trademark Favourite Food: Burgers and chips.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: He chews out Ali after he briefly becomes obsessed with fame.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: His fear of cockroaches is taken up to comedic levels, a particularly notable example being him running around to avoid one in the middle of a mission.

    Agent Rizwan

Agent Rizwan

Voiced by: Azman Zulkiply (Malay), Johnny Yong Bosch (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/agent_rizwan.png
A senior M.A.T.A. agent under the INVISO pillar. Known to be one of the best agents, and is the successor of the previous pillar chief, Djin.
  • The Ace: He is Chief Djin's successor and favorite student, having inherited many of his skills and being dubbed the "greatest M.A.T.A agent".
  • Badass Boast: Gives one to Cinco, when he reveals that he faked his alliance to the Numeros, leading to a Villainous Breakdown to both Uno and Cinco.
Cinco : You... I should have known!
Rizwan: So now you know how it feels to be betrayed.
Cinco : Uno will never forgive you for this!
[Later in the same episode after Rizwan primes an Azureum bomb]
Cinco : Azureum? Wait, what are you trying to do?
Rizwan: The same thing that you have done to M.A.T.A.
  • Came Back Strong: In season 2 Rizwan suffers fatal blood poisoning due to his injury not having fully healed and his condition gets worse due to Microbugs inside his body that were implanted by Uno. In season 3 he is finally able to take action to protect the innocent and take down the Numeros with no fear of being controlled by Cinco thanks to Cuatro's efforts to heal him by wiping out the Microbugs in his body.
  • Characterization Marches On: He was a lot more playful, sarcastic, and snarky in his debut episode. Subsequent appearances dropped this aspect of him entirely and made him more stoic and serious.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: Of the Fake Defector. He pretended to defect from MATA over his belief of there still being good in Djin and tried to reach out to him. But when he realizes that's not the case, he forced to destroy the Numeros' base. And when he returned and explained himself, they immediately arrested, since his MATA peers no longer trust him as a result. Chief Zain spells it out that his prioritizing his personal agenda defied the principals of MATA and will set a bad example for the Young Agents. In Season 3, this betrayal, along with working with Dos, made it all more convincing to MATA that he is still up to no good.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: His wound from Uno's Azureum sword gave him blood poisoning, which greatly diminished his potential. It never really healed until Uno decided to implant some microbugs in him, which allowed Uno to perform a Villain Override.
  • Enemy Mine: Rizwan puts aside his differences with Dos in season 3 in order to stop Cinco's attempt to continue Uno's legacy.
  • Expy: His strict and cold persona, agility, skills and aloofness are greatly reminiscent of Captain Kaizo.
  • Fake Defector: He pretended to join the Numeros in an attempt to redeem Djin. After confirming that Djin was Beyond Redemption, he decided to destroy them instead by planting bombs within their base.
  • Genius Sweet Tooth: He usually sucks on a lollipop during fights, which enables him to use the stick as a weapon at any time.
  • Light Is Good: White suit, on the heroes' side. Need we say more?
  • Like a Son to Me: Dos implies that his relationship with Djin was more than a mere student-mentor dynamic. It's also implied to be the same on Uno's side, as shown when he genuinely treats him well even after all these years and him being genuinely hurt when Rizwan reveals he was never on their side at all.
  • Master of Disguise:
    • One of his favourite tactics is disguising himself as a Mook. It works most of the time, too.
    • Takes this to another level when he disguises himself as Uno. It was good enough to fool Trez and Nueve.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: His expression after he accidentally hits Ali after his 'defection' shows this. It serves as subtle Foreshadowing as to what his true motives are.
  • Older Than They Look: His actual age is 37, though you can't tell it just by looking at him.
  • So Proud of You: In "Mission: Vital", though he still maintains his stoic demeanor, Rizwan looks genuinely impressed that his former pupil Ali managed to make the final round of the Arena.
  • The Stoic: Tends to remain serious at all times, rarely showing emotion.
  • A Taste of Their Own Medicine: In Season 2, he uses a tactic that the Numeros used against the former, namely faking a Face–Heel Turn. It almost succeeds in bringing down the Numeros altogether.
  • Undying Loyalty: To M.A.T.A. You would expect him to join his father figure who rebelled against them, but that wasn't the case.
  • Villain Override:The microbugs that "healed" him allowed Uno to do this to him.
  • Would Hit a Girl: With Dos usually at the receiving end. To be fair, he was slightly reluctant at the beginning, but she proved to be a very formidable enemy.

    Comot

Comot

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/comot_in_windows.png
A genetically mutated cat whom Ali rescues from Abang Bear after witnessing the torture she faces under the latter. She possesses various abilities such as invisibility and enhanced intelligence.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Her reason for joining Ali. Compared to her previous owner, Ali is much nicer.
  • Cats Are Superior: Downplayed. She's quite supportive most of the time, but it's obvious she has quite the temperament.
  • Electric Torture: Abang Bear's way of keeping her in check.
  • Meaningful Name: Justified. Comot means Dirty in Malay. In their first encounter, Ali mistakes her for his previous cat, Labu, due to her dirty fur making her white coloration seem greyish. Therefore, he decides to name her Comot.
  • Right-Hand Attack Dog: A minor variant. The most she did under Abang Bear was help him steal expensive items, but it still counts.
  • She Knows Too Much: Comot is the only one who sees Kim putting a gadget in MATA Headquarters to hack the security system for the Numeros. Comot attempts to steal the gadget when Kim's guard is down. Unfortunately, Kim is aware of her action and has no other choice but to finish her off on the Numeros' behalf.
  • Team Pet: She is Ali's pet cat. Her abilities allow her to assist Ali as she follows him on some missions.

Other Antagonists

    Wak Musang

Wak Musang

Voiced by: Usamah Zaid Yasin (Malay)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wak_musang.jpg
A Nasi Lemak seller who secretly worked as The Informant for any antagonist who needed him.
  • Ambiguously Evil: As an information breaker, he has no problem with working with other antagonists. However, whether or not he is indeed evil is still ambiguous.
  • Harmless Villain: He is not a villain, but a neutral character. His job as an information breaker made him into this. When he is about to be caught by M.A.T.A., he chooses to run away instead of fighting back.
  • The Informant: He is an information breaker to the other criminals and anyone who needs him.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After he realizes that he gave the I.R.I.S to the wrong person in the first episode.
  • Only in It for the Money: Implied. His reason for becoming The Informant is because of this.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Wak Musang is just a minor character who works as an information broker for criminals and is trusted by Dos to take care of I.R.I.S for Uno. Due to his mistaking Ali instead of Uno for the one who wants I.R.I.S after the young boy accidentally tells him the code, Wak Musang gives it to Ali, resulting in him being targeted by the Numeros and recruited by MATA.
  • Wild Card: As a most trusted information breaker, he willingly gives some information to any criminals without making any permanent alliance with them.

A Cyberaya crime lord who sells stolen goods.
  • Affably Evil: He is portrayed as a gentleman crime lord who genuinely acts like a well-mannered man. He is a good husband too, though implied to be a Hen Pecked Husband over his fear of her finding out of his criminal doings.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: He enslaved mutated cats to get them to steal valuables. He often tortured them through the electric chips implanted in their bodies, and electrocuted them if they disobeyed his orders or failed to steal some stuff that he wanted.
  • Does Not Like Spam: He says he doesn't like spicy food because it causes him stomach pain.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Even though he commented that his wife is talkative, he proved to be loving and loyal to her, willingly doing everything for her. He even wanted to give a stolen expensive accessory to her to make her happy.
  • Faceless Goons: All his minions wear helmets and never show their faces.
  • Gentleman Thief: He is a crime lord in Cyberaya, who operates his criminal activities through his mooks or by enslaving mutated cats to steal stuff.

  • Driven by Envy: His reason for becoming a terrorist is that he disliked a scientist who rivaled his steampunk technology.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Word of God states that his backstory is similar to that of Dr. Aaron's: He became a terrorist to make other people respect his creations.
  • Evil Old Folks: Visibly elderly, not that it makes him any less effective as a fighter.
  • Foreshadowing: An enemy that brings up the poorer parts of Cyberjaya? Niki has a similar motive, except she's a lot more dangerous.
  • New Technology Is Evil: Holds this view towards advanced technology.
  • Time Bomb: His other motif. Interestingly, his bombs have grandfather clock-esque interfaces instead of the normal digital counter.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eatm___niki.jpg

Niki is the leader of her terrorist group who wanted to destroy Cyberaya and kill Datok Othman as revenge for the mistreatment of the slum citizens.

  • Animal Motif: Birds, specifically the American robin. This bird is a territorial animal which represents freedom, passion and new beginnings, which is fitting for Niki's motivations. Niki's code name is also based on this bird, Robin.
  • Armor-Piercing Response: Gave this twice to Aliya at their final encounter.
Niki: To save Cyberaya, get rid of its leader first.
    [Several minutes later]
Aliya: Why do you still not get it, Niki?! You already chose the wrong path!
Niki: My right path is... being a traitor, JUST LIKE YOU!
  • Big Bad: In the movie, she is the main antagonist and the leader of her thugs who plot to destroy Cyberaya.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Through I.R.I.S. NEO, she can control other agents wearing it to to make them fight on her side.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: In contrast with Uno, who wanted to Take Over the City and have revenge on the M.A.T.A Agency, Niki wants to destroy the city and Mayor Datok Othman because of his selfishness and arrogance.
  • Cool People Rebel Against Authority: A rare villainous version. Her reason to overthrow Datok Othman makes sense since he is a selfish and arrogant mayor. Still, her way is wrong and goes too far in that she threatens to destroy the city made in his vision too.
  • Dark Action Girl: She is the leader of her thugs. Although she has a muscle problem which resulted in her inablity to walk properly, she is still a competent fighter and mastermind. In battle, she proves herself to be tougher than Dos from Numeros, as she is able toe-to-toe fight with Chief Ganz, KOMBAT pillar chief who is physically more fit than her.
  • Evil Former Friend: She used to be Aliya's best friend and she admits they were like siblings until Aliya was recruited as a M.A.T.A agent. She cut their ties because she felt Aliya betrayed her.
  • Face Death with Dignity: After her defeat, she tells Bakar to finish her for the sake of avenging Aliya's death. Bakar, however, refuses to do it because he knows that Aliya would not be happy with that.
  • Foil: To Uno. Both Niki and Uno are connected to heroes in the past, serve as the Big Bad of the series/movie, and have betrayal as the main reason behind why they became evil. Uno, better known as Djin, was a narcissistic pillar leader who believed that he could be the next "Super Agent" after Aliya passed away. Niki is Aliya's Childhood Friend who strived to save people in the Cyberaya slums alongside with her. After being overpowered by Zain, Uno kept attacking him regardless of the impending explosion at the Academy, resulting in their deaths. Niki on other hand accepts her defeat by Ali and offers Bakar finish her to avenge Aliya's death.
  • Handicapped Badass: Niki has paralysis. Flashbacks show that Aliya helped her to build an Exo suit to make her able to fight and defend herself.
  • Hero of Another Story: Long before Aliya was recruited as a M.A.T.A agent, she and Aliya were the "heroines" who saved helpless people in the slums of Cyberaya.
  • Hypocrite: Niki claims her motivation is to overthrow the mayor due to his selfishness over the treatment of slum citizens, but she has no problem with destroying the city which would potentially kill other citizens, including slum citizens.
  • Jumping Off the Slippery Slope: At first, her motive and her gray morality are understandable, which made Ali decide to help her although he knew that her methods were illegal. As the story progresses, she becomes more irrational due to being blinded by her desire to seek revenge against Datok Othman by destroying the city he's developing while her kind were neglected.
  • Just Like Robin Hood: When she and Aliya were still friends, they stole goods to be transported for the sake of the lives and livelihood of the slum citizens. Niki continues to steal from the government to support the livelihood of her fellow slum citizens.
  • Manipulative Bitch: Takes advantage of Ali's kindness and sympathy towards her to gain his trust, so he can help her gain Azurium for her weapon. It worked perfectly until Ali realized Niki already crossed the line that she wanted to destroy the city and is the one responsible for Aliya's tragic death.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Hurt over Aliya's "betrayal" for forgetting her and their past, she wants to destroy Cyberaya, including their selfish mayor and countless innocents within the city.
  • Please Kill Me if It Satisfies You: She offers this to Bakar after she loses. Bakar refuses.
  • Then Let Me Be Evil: She flat out told Aliya that her "right" path is become a traitor just like her.
