resolved Change of plans: wishing to Launch Peter and Company 1998 Webcomic
After speaking with BoltDMC on the matter, and Amonimus prior to that briefly, I think that my current page is ready enough for it to launch and given that Work Pages Are a Free Launch this was all optional to begin with, but I wanted to make sure that there was atleast some supervision given what a sensitive topic it was.
Do I have the permission of both the community and staff to go through with posting this page? Or do I still have to wait for the hats given that I already made a proposal for it in TLP? Either way, it's fine, I just wish to know if I can bypass the hat system given this is a webcomic page inspite of running it through TLP.
Edited by Stardust5099resolved Making a page with the community Webcomic
About a week ago, there was discussion about giving the original Peter and Company (or as I plan to call it, Peter and Company (1998), though I'm fully aware the title can be changed by others by consensus so the title I picked is not official) its own page rather than trying to merge it with the current incarnation of the comic. This I am currently working a draft on.
Now, given the sensitive nature of the topic, this is a page I would actually like to work with the community of TV Tropes over. Do I just go straight to the launch pad activity like I would a proposed trope for that?
Edited by Stardust5099resolved Peter and Company: No image discussion before replacement Webcomic
So...The author of Peter & Company, who goes by the username PeterAndCompany, just picked a new image to replace the current one without going to Image Pickin' first for any sort of discussion. I've already sent them a notifier with nothing else written on the matter.
Three questions for the community (forgot to edit this bit when I added a third, oops):
1. Does this fall under a violation of Auto-Erotic Troping?
2. Is there a cleanup thread for that sort of thing?
3. Am I allowed to remove it?
Edited by Stardust5099resolved Is this an example of PhlebotinumProofRobot? Webcomic
Trope summary: most of the cast in a work is being affected by something, except for one... because they're a robot.
So: Schlock of Schlock Mercenary is descended from self-repairing computer memory/storage units. One storyline had the crew finding out some politically sensitive information, and having their memories modified as a result. Schlock was able to bypass this by using his 'biology' to make a backup of his real memories, and restoring them later.
resolved Potential edit warring on Peter and Company Webcomic
A while back, legendaryweredragon left a red link on the page way back in 2021 on the Peter & Company page that said the following:
"The comic also has a sequel called Peter And Whitney which skips ahead to the characters in their college days after the guardians have left them."
I had decided to hide it due to the fact that I remember reading that red links were frowned upon. I check the page a while later and I see that, without any sort of discussion or atleast an edit note, they undid my edit which I'm pretty sure is considered edit warring given the lack of the former reason. Was there any sort of discussion either on ATT or in PMs with someone apart of admin before this change was made?
Edited by Stardust5099resolved Sinfest Single Issue Wonk Webcomic
Kizor just went and vandalized the main description of Webcomic.Sinfest, after they argued with complaining cleanup thread about a previous edit they made (That was eventually reverted) that added a couple of rants paragraphs calling the webcomic "Nazi bullshit" among other things.
If it isn’t a vandal attempt, then it was a unilateral change. I honestly don’t know.
Edited by PlasmaPowerresolved Peter and Company: A precursor story? Webcomic
As I was doing some edits for Peter & Company…apparently there was an “original” version that ran from 2001-2004. I’m in the process of reading it, and I know very little context about its existence, but I guess it was the “first edition” unlike the current version.
I already took the time to update the page so that the existence of the comic is acknowledged, but should I create a separate page for it? Or should I just include all tropes for it on the same page and just keep it separated through tabs so that people can click and read them if they want like with Austin Powers? Or should I just mix them in since the first comic had no concrete arcs like the second one does?
Edited by Stardust5099resolved Creator/MoringMark Page Getting Too Long Webcomic
The Creator Page for MoringMark is getting too long now, and needs to be split up into pages. Problem is, most of the things troped on the page relate to the various fancomics for Gravity Falls, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, and The Owl House, and while some of them do have specific names or series to them, those ones already have their own pages, with the ones on the creator page itself referring to various miscellaneous comics that, while stand alone, are largely connected in a sort of narrative that isn't definitively named.
So, how exactly should the page be split up, what namespaces should be used, should all of the series get their own pages or should only the largest one, The Owl House, get one, etc.
Edited by RebelFalconresolved Correctly Inputting A Work Webcomic
I'm adding an entry to https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/BecomingTheMask/FanWorks and am reading how to edit, but I am still have trouble grasping the linking and spoiler codes. Also, do fan work comics go under Fan Works or Web Comics?
Here is the current text, spoilers ahead.

resolved can i get a reality check on an example from YMMV/MobPsycho100? Webcomic
a School Bullying Is Harmless example based on audience opinion on Mob Psycho 100 was cut and moved to the main work page recently; the edit reason given for this and another similar moved example was '<insert trope> is not a YMMV trope'. i would like to move it back, as the mangaka is emphatically not arguing that Misery Builds Character here, but i really don't want to start an edit war. what would be the best course of action?
mob, the protagonist, spends time in a parallel world where he is bullied for months on end by another student. the vindictive spirit torturing both children wants to break mob and gain a sympathizer; his ulterior motive backfires. the hell the boy goes through in the process isn't presented as necessary for his development somehow, or inevitable, or something to just be shrugged off. it's also toned down for the anime, possibly to avoid complaining from parents' groups in japan or inspiring copycats.
- it is presented in-story as absolute torture;
- both the bully and mob are the subject of Mind Rape while it's occurring. he has additionally been Brainwashed into forgetting his own sense of agency and needs help to escape;
- and it teaches a lesson to both children—the bully is confronted with the effects of her own cruelty to others, while mob comes to understand that such cruelty exists in the world and that he's led a fairly charmed life up to that point.
he emerges grateful for the harrowing experience but aware that he was being manipulated the whole time, and forgives her; she repents. it isn't mentioned again.
the bullying doesn't give him PTSD, or make him more frightened of other people, but it does make him more aware of others' suffering. elsewhere in the series, two of the villains talk about how their own experiences with school bullying changed them for the worse. one of the strongest villains became a Hikikomori as a result.
because a small but vocal contingent of the fandom felt mob should have been traumatized by what happened to him, i added School Bullying Is Harmless to the YMMV page. as an opinion only part of the fanbase holds, it seemed appropriate.
also, is there a list of tropes not allowed on YMMV pages? thanks!
Edited by oogenesisresolved Page ownership issues. Webcomic
Canker Toon deleted this entry from the Art Shift page, referencing that they were the creator and they don't want this to be mentioned anymore.
This may be a violation of The Fic May Be Yours, but the Trope Page Is Ours, but I just want to be sure. Also, I may have seen them before on ATT, but I'm not sure.
EDIT: It seems like most of their edits have been reverted, but the Art Shift entry is the one I've seen that hasn't been reverted yet.
Edited by YuriHaru567resolved Thinking about moving a page Webcomic
A while back I created the page for DNA. I think it needs to be moved because their are some unrelated works with the same name that also have pages. Although I am not sure what to move it to. Also I have never moved a page before. I was thinking of moving it to WebComic/DNATheWebComic. Is there being works pages with the same name for unrelated works a good reason to move it? And if so, what should I move it to?
Edited by legendaryweredragon
So...after creating Peter & Company (1998), there are select tropes I wish to bring back to the reboot page that got removed two weeks ago, some which bridge the gap between the reboot and its original.
The following tropes I would like permission to put back:
If there are any modifications you believe should be made, don't hesitate to ask
I would also like permission to restore certain bits and pieces of mentions of the original comic on this page so that it ties in with the original's page. I'll make sure it doesn't overtake the subject of the current comic but given parts that I wish to add were previously deleted, I would like a consensus before going through with anything.
