openFinal Fantasy XVI Page? Videogame
Is there any reason this doesn't exist yet (or rather, was removed)? I understood that the game isn't out yet, but NEO: The World Ends With You was announced mere days ago and already has pages dedicated to it.
openChoose Your Own Adventure used as a trope on video games. Videogame
While correcting the Choose Your Own Adventure wicks, which is now a disambiguation, I noticed it was quite often used like a trope on video-game pages, and I believe a lot of these examples are misuses.
Instead of just changing those wick to Gamebook, which don't look that fitting lots of time, is there a specific video-game trope that would fit better? Like Story Branching?
openDeep Rock Galactic - questionable edit Videogame
So, there was a recent entry on the Deep Rock Galactic character page: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/DeepRockGalactic
Specifically, troper Napolean_Blownapart made the following edit to the Driller:
- Gonk: Guy has more Chins than a chineese phonebook.
I removed it because I felt this was kind of racist, but the troper re-added this because they didn't think it was racist. Can a moderator please have a look at this? Even if it's not racist it feels really inappropriate to me.
Edited by ZaptechopenLumping in Assassin's Creed character pages. Videogame
For some reason Xteme19 put all the content from Characters.Assassins Creed Ezio Auditore Trilogy Roman Templars in Characters.Assassins Creed Ezio Auditore Trilogy Templars despite it being split ages ago.
Edited by rmctagg09openStub character page Videogame
Okay, so I found a stub character page, that is Characters.Cookie Wars. There is virtually no tropes in it. Is it safe to be cutlist? Can someone help trope the characters?
openMost of the Evil Genius 2 page was blanked with no explanation Videogame
It looks like a single edit by Alphatater on Evil Genius 2 back on October 26th actually hid the majority of the entries of the page. There was no edit reason given, only the cryptic phrase "no citation" added to the entries he hid. As this isn't Wikipedia, I'm not exactly sure what "citations" are needed. I could understand if these needed some additional context and some of his removals certainly qualify or were misusing a trope, but some of them seemed perfectly fine and appear to pass the Zero Context Examples criteria. I checked that troper's edit history and they've apparently gone through and reverted people's good faith attempts to fix issues from what appear to be random blanking sprees. I'd rather not see mod action taken at what may be a bit of overzealous editing or a misinterpretation of site policy but I'd like to be able to add the good entries back to the page, fix the entries that need more context, and not get accused of edit warring or start one if that troper doesn't agree.
And I'm legitimately confused at what "no citation" means. I checked the sites policies on Zero Context Examples in case something had changed that I wasn't aware of and it's not there.
Edited by RebochanopenCharacters.FinalFantasyVI Videogame
At Characters.Final Fantasy VI Drake Clawfang added Dragon with an Agenda, Dragon Ascendant and The Dragon to Kefka's character page four years ago. Nothing this given recent discussion involving the characters, I messaged them, almost certain I did so years ago and they just chose to ignore it. They claimed I had never messaged them and I received a snarky rude response snipping about how I was wrong and they refused to change anything. My issues are as follows:
- Kefka elects to usurp his boss after killing him, which is the goal of The Starscream, even if he doesn't do so at the first opportunity. Dragon with an Agenda doesn't cover anything.
- The Dragon covers the character who acts as the penultimate threat before the Big Bad. This isn't the case of Kefka, who subverts the trope by again, killing his boss to take over.
- Dragon Ascendant was removed, that was their mistake to add but that's been covered.
- They left the edit reason "irrelevant" when re-adding their tropes, which comes across as rude and uninformed given they made errors in editing.
I'm trying to avoid an edit war and they're adamantly refusing to work with me here. Can I get a hand on this? I don't like the attitude or the lack of interest in working together here.
Edited by 43110openI want to make two pages for two games with the exact same title and genre. Videogame
The games in question are Buddy and BUDDY. Both are point-and-click horror games, though their similarities kinda end there. Point is, since both have the same genre, I can't do something like Buddy (Point-And-Click) and Buddy (Other Genre). So what do I do? I know one of them is all caps, but I don't think it is possible to make a version of the same title will all caps, as it will just redirect. I think. Or something.
openLock Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and associated pages Videogame
I would like to request a lock for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and its associated pages until the game is officially released on November 20th, as the game was prematurely released before its official date and people have been posting leaked content — which IIRC goes against TV Tropes' editing policies — on the pages, particularly Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
Edited by Arawn999openBrokenBase/WorldOfWarcraft Videogame
- As of Battle For Azeroth, the consensus seems to be that the Horde is preferred while the Alliance is stuck as a background character.
Anyone mind if I delete this entry on World of Warcraft as I don't believe there is a real consensus and the Horde storyline in BFA was so controversial, that Forbes, a non gaming site, did an article on it?
Edited by MonsundopenHow do I begin a new video game page? Videogame
I want to start a page for Lizard, the NES game, but I don't see where to begin. What's the procedure for starting a completely new page?
In Wikipedia you begin on your own sandbox and then move the sandbox to the page. How do you do it here? I couldn't find instructions.
open"General" example? Videogame
My Final Edits removed this example from Background Music Override, citing Examples Are Not General:
- This is a common trope for Invincibility Power-Ups (e.g. the Super Mario Bros. Starman, Kirby Invincibility Candy), adding to the sense of power and brief unstoppability.
But is that really a general examples, considering it gives specific examples and explains why the trope happens? Wouldn't it be really redundant to list every video game that overrides the music with an invisibility power-up? Or should it be added to the description?
Edited by rjd1922openCeleste and Ambiguous Gender Identity Videogame
Recently, Celeste developer Maddy Thorson confirmed that Madeline is transgender. There's a trope entry in the Ambiguous Gender Identity about Madeline, so now that Madeline was confirmed to be transgender, I want to ask how do we approach the entry in the trope page.
openSuper Mario Bros YMMV pages Videogame
I've noticed that compared to, say, the majority of That One Level subpages, some of the subpages of YMMV.Super Mario Bros are nattery, overuse emphasis, have some entries rife with complaining (or gushing, in the case of GameBreaker.Super Mario Bros), and have a number of bad examples. ThatOneLevel.Super Mario Bros is particularly unpleasant to read; here's a typical entry (but far from the worst) from that page, under Paper Mario: Sticker Star:
- 4-5. Not too bad at the start, but the ski lift part is really annoying. First off, there are so many enemies (mainly Paragoombas and Fuzzies), and to avoid them, you have to sway left and right, but swaying your ride only lasts for a few seconds. Also, to collect coins or hearts, you have to press the A button when the top of your ride is under that item. And the ski lift part is really long.
openGeneral trope feedback Videogame
Hi guys, I am currently the only editor of seven knights tv tropes page, I was hoping to get feedback on the tropes? especially on the special heroes category which fills a lot of the content. Much appreciated

openHaving formatting problems Videogame
Hello! Today I was attempting to edit the Fan works/Danganronpa page to add the fanfiction "ronpa and friends" to the crossovers folder and I seem to have messed up the formatting somehow? There is not a page on here for it yet so that may be the problem? If anyone could help me fix it or direct me to where I could learn how to fix it myself that would be very helpful. Sorry about the mess, I am still trying to figure out how this works.
openAssemble with Care medium Videogame
I'd like to make a page for Assemble with Care, but I'm not sure if it should be considered a video game or a visual novel. It's about half story (which you don't get to affect in any way) and half simple gameplay, so I'm leaning towards video game, but I just want to be sure and see if anyone thinks differently.
Edited by audgetroubleopenAbout Character descriptions being copy-pasted from other sources... Videogame
So I just realized now that Characters.Genshin Impact Main Characters all had their "lead paragraphs" (the text above their trope lists) mostly copy-pasted directly from the official descriptions (which are found in-game, in the official website, and are also written on other wikis).
However IIRC, other character trope pages that did this in the past got their lead paragraphs deleted or rewritten because of a certain wiki rule or Administrivia page. I probably need help remembering what rule it is so that it can be used as an edit reason.
openAction Taimanin Mass Deletion Videogame
...So, all pages related to Action Taimanin were just erased, with the alleged reason being plagarism of All The Tropes without work being done to clean it up. Well, as someone who worked on the Sandbox version before it ever went live, and can confidently state as a result that if it were ever mentioned on Discussion even once that I would have noticed, we were never informed that cleanup was necessary.
Second, and perhaps more importantly, I edit both wikis. Is it "plagarism" if I take something I wrote for one and copy it to the other, or vice versa? For that matter, is it "plagarism" if two wikis with many identical trope pages and information have some overlap? Why is this a problem to begin with?
Third, how could such a decision be contested in the future?
So this troper has removed an entry of Alternate Character Interpretation solely on the base of it being in a short teaser trailer. Is that actually a valid reason?
