I think you're one of the nicest people on this forum.
I started the series with the first three volumes (the "Black Swordsman Arc") but I thought that the series really started getting good around Volume 4 or 5. However, despite some Early-Installment Weirdness and inconsistent characterisation, I found the "Black Swordsman Arc" to be important in introducing the most basic elements of Berserk, including Guts himself.

Thanks! I do eventually want to make a Top 31 Heroes list, but first I need to finish the Villains list, plus figure out which qualities to replace Scariness, Love to Hate, and Despicable.

You are great in the forum games, specially in the "ask the above poster". I also like how you appreciatte villains, a lot of good stories have good villains, so it's great that you put a spotlight on them instead of the hero. A very great troper overall.
