Subpages cleanup: Complete Monster

Go To

During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.

Specific issues include:

  • Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
  • A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
  • Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
  • Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
  • Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.

It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:

     Previous Post
Complete Monster Cleanup Thread

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.

IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.

When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "[tup] to everyone I missed").

No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.

We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.

What is the Work

Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.

Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?

This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.

Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?

Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.

Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?

Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard

Final Verdict?

Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

No to the duo but yes to vampire Franco which is a cool name for a vampire. [lol]

In regards to Jack considering there was a character who had the same name who was cut for how the story he was from was grimdark trash(I am positive people remember this guy) I want to know if there is a purpose to this game and it isn't a similar situation, he sounds like he counts on paper but does the game have an actual purpose other than "heinous things happen to good people"? I will vote yes if there is an actual plot and not something a 15 year old wrote in ten minutes.

Haven't heard a defense for this game so no to Jack. BUT if there is ANYTHING more to the plot than sure but as of now I haven't heard anything that indicates there is much to this plot other than serial killer murders people.

So did anyone ever do the entry for Martin Proctor from Black Lightning? He was a unanimous keeper, I just wondered when he was going to be added to the page.

Also, what's the stance on clearing up typos and the like on the actual Monster pages?

This wiki requires entries use proper English spelling—American or Commonwealth are fine, just be consistent—and grammar. Any examples failing to adhere should be brought here so we can correct them.

For Proctor, just give Warthog some time, I'm sure the writeup is somewhere on his "To do" list.

Aaaaanyways, since Nagito got an unanimous yes vote.......Here's his writeup:

The Mystery Case of Detective Inaba no.1: Nagito Akashi, revealed to be the jovial and friendly chef Toa Nakagishi, was behind almost all the bad things happened in the first game. Teaming up with his brother, Nagito kills all of the guests that his brother brought so that he could write his experiences in the novels that filled his bookshelves. In the present day when two guys committed homicide in the locked room, Nagito then took one of the weapons and then left it in Sogo Inaba’s room in hopes to framing him. When Nagito got cornered, he then attempts to kill the remaining survivors to finish his masterpiece. In one of the ending when Sogo fails to save his assistant from accidental murder, Nagito then mocks Sogo about it, claiming that it was a great twist for his own book.

Any thoughts and objections? I intentionally spoiled it because it's a Mystery video game by the way. @ACW you can play with the spoiler tag if you want to with this.

[down] Alright.....Sent it to the drafts

All righty then... how does this look for 0?

  • 0 is a nearly omnipotent extradimensional entity with a penchant for torturing and exterminating "lesser" species under the guise of testing them. Having been exiled from his home plane eons ago, he manipulated a young Q into letting him into the Milky Way galaxy and guiding him to more "subjects". He attempted to enslave the Coulalakritous energy beings for warp speed transportation, and in response to their successful resistance he compressed them into a lump of ice (which they remained as for 2000 years), only stopped from going even further by Q’s own intervention. Gathering a group of similar beings, 0 had them engineer a decades-long civil war in the Tkon Empire, and after the Tkon managed to make peace, he personally sped up the death of their sun, consuming all seven trillion inhabitants, for which the Q Continuum banished him from the galaxy. In the present, 0 manipulates a scientist into breaching the galactic barrier to allow him to continue his depredations as well as take revenge on Q for turning on him.

And of course Feather Duster already had a writeup:

  • Feather Duster, despite being mainly a flashback character, is the Big Bad of the "Dear Cutie Mark Crusaders" arc. After being fired from the Ponyville weather team for drunkenly flooding the rabbit holes during Winter Wrap-Up, he takes revenge by "testing" Rainbow Dash (his replacement as captain) with a catastrophic, unscheduled storm which results in the death of Applejack's parents, and he would have let her face the wrath of almost the entirety of Ponyville (since the captain is the only one with access to the storm-generating machines) if he hadn't passed out drunk at the scene of the crime. Later, he lashes out at her again (whether for misplaced revenge or sheer evulz is unclear, as Dash claims he always seemed to hate her even before he was fired) by attacking the orphanage where she grew up, fatally wounding her mother figure Firefly, kidnapping Scootaloo (who had just been found at said orphanage), and forcing Dash to choose between saving Scootaloo and stopping him from unleashing an even bigger storm. Dash, after pulling off both, ends up throwing him into a point-blank Sonic Rainboom just to keep him from hurting anypony else. Even that doesn't put an end to his villainy. In the followup "Cutie Mark Crusaders Dream Warriors," it is revealed his spirit was pushed into the dreamscape, allowing him to haunt the Cutie Mark Crusaders' nightmares years later and feed on their fear ala Freddy Krueger then attempt to take over Scootaloo's body to murder Rainbow Dash, before he is finally literally bucked into Tartarus.

There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.

[tup] Franco.

Yami, Drafts please. And also please see if Feather Duster can't be trimmed any,

BTW, Reinhard's voiced by Jim Ward, who also did "Herr Kleiser", Mannimarco, and Hector LeMans

EDIT: Anyone have an issue with removing the notes for Yhwach (Bleach) and Karza (Micronauts)?

EDIT 2: A de-potholing:

  • The Three Musketeers: The mysterious, murderous Milady de Winter is one of the top agents of the visionary Cardinal Richelieu in his campaign to strengthen France and free it of foreign influence, but shares none of her employer's lofty ideals. Instead, she uses her position, resources, and quasi-supernatural beauty and charisma to indulge her limitless appetites for money, power, and indiscriminate, disproportionate revenge on anyone who gets on her bad side. Ever since her humble origins as a larcenous nun, she's targeted and seduced any sufficiently-useful man she comes across, destroying those who reject her and either killing or abandoning anyone unlucky enough to become her thrall as soon as they're no longer valuable. Her steadily-escalating battle with d'Artagnan brings out all her worst excesses, as she first tries to enlist him to kill her brother-in-law for his inheritance and a young noble for apparently turning her advances down, then, after he humiliates her, repeatedly attempts to kill him with zero regard for collateral damage, endangering and killing several innocents along the way, and finally murders his Love Interest as Revenge by Proxy whilst pretending to be her dearest friend.

Here's a stab at a shortened Feather Duster, lmk if it's missing anything:

  • "Dear Cutie Mark Crusaders" Arc Villain, former Captain Feather Duster, was fired for drunkenly flooding rabbit holes during Winter Wrap-Up, taking revenge by causing a catastrophic storm, killing Applejack's parents. Feather Duster would have happily let Rainbow Dash, his replacement, face the wrath of Ponyville, had he not drunkenly passed out at the scene of his crime. Lashing out at Dash again, Feather Duster forces her to choose between saving Scootaloo and stopping him from unleashing another, even more destructive storm. After seemingly being stopped, Feather Duster returns in "Cutie Mark Crusaders Dream Warriors", where his disembodied spirit returns to feed off the nightmares of ponies and tries to possess Scootaloo's body to murder Dash.

[up][up] Whoops. Fixed.

I trimmed Gavling:

  • Lennart Gavling, also known as The Money Man, is a Corrupt Corporate Executive, and the Arch-Enemy of Martin Beck and his colleague Gunvald Larsson. Gavling was evil even when starting his career as a mercenary, as a flashback scene shows him breaking into a drug dealer couple's home and demanding money, at first trying to kill them, only to later kill their newborn baby and blackmailing the mother, later resulting in the father being Driven to Suicide, something Gavling takes full credit for. Gavling first appears in the season one episode "White Nights", where he kills Martin's biological son Micke for not completing a drug deal, something that emotionally breaks Martin for the rest of the series, sad that he never got to talk the latter out of criminal activity. Later appearing in "Guesthouse Pearl", Gavling is now dealing with the equally monstrous, below-mentioned Gorzi, where they smuggle explosive cerium—which can explode at any time—using immigrants. In his final appearence, in "The Money Man", he kills his homosexual police source for knowing too much about his deals, paying the police officer's boyfriend Leonard to write a fake suicide text, only to later kill him when he starts talking to Martin, not even fully knowing if Leonard actually was talking about their deal. To scare Martin, Gavling orders his mercenary to confront Martin's daughter Inger, and then grabs her newborn baby and hides it from her. Near the end, Gavling learns that the mom whose baby he killed may be taking the case to court again, and confronts her in her home, where he uses a syringe to torture her. When the police come right in time, Gavling nearly succeeds in killing all six of the police officers.

Offhand, how many CMs do we have working for someone else who doesn’t count?
