Heartwarming Moments, Funny Moments, Moment of Awesome, Awesome Music, Tear Jerker, and Nightmare Fuel subpages tend to attract low-quality and unillustrative images that don't evoke the emotions they should, even if the scenes are examples in context. While it is very easy to pull them, the Image Pickin' forum has trouble finding replacements most of the time, leaving most of these threads to close due to inactivity and take up room while doing so.
In order to free up slots, this thread is designed to handle moments subpages with a single bad image.
This thread is not for:
- Start a thread in the following cases
- Removing an image because you already have an alternative suggestion on hand
- Moments page images that are duplicated somewhere else
- Moments pages with multiple images
- Pages that are on Image Pickin' Special Cases (assuming their status allows it)
- Images that you personally don't find funny/sad/heartwarming/awesome/scary, or can't fully glean the context of, but still have some visual element of the Moment they're supposed to evoke (for example, a messy explosion might still be worth keeping on an Awesome/ page even if you don't understand what's exploding, because of Stuff Blowing Up). Remember that these are YMMV items.
- If the only problem is that it's low-quality, try the quality upgrade thread first.
- If the problem is that the on-page examples are bad, please see the Moments cleanup thread and the specific Nightmare Fuel cleanup thread.
How it works
- First, have you Failed a Spot Check? Check the page source: maybe a previous thread has explained the reasoning for why it's on the page. You can also go to the Ask for Explanations thread for other opinions.
- Link the page with the image you want examined. Please explain why you think it is a bad image (e.g. JAFAAC, "more funny than scary"). Posts without such reasoning will not be entertained. (You can use the Image Pickin' thread guidelines for reasoning help.) If suggesting multiple pages in a single post, please put them in a bulleted list to ensure that each entry can stand on its own and that they won't be missed when the crowner is made.
- Similar to the Image Suggestion thread, a crowner will be run containing the proposed pulls. Each crowner will run about 15 items at a time and last for 5 days. Please do not add items to a crowner once it's running.
- After 24 hours, anything with votes at +10 or more and a ratio of at least 2:1 will be pulled.
- After 3 days, anything with votes at +8 or more and a ratio of at least 2:1 will be pulled.
- After 5 days, all remaining crowner items with a positive ratio of at least 2:1 will be pulled, all items below the 2:1 ratio will be kept, and the crowner will be closed.
- Pulled images will be tagged as such:
%%Please do not add a new image without going through the Image Suggestion thread or starting a new Image Pickin' thread
This does not count towards their thread count.
If you think of a replacement image after an image has been pulled, you can use the Image Suggestion thread or start a new thread for a replacement.
Kept images will be tagged as such:
%% Image kept on page via crowner in the Moments Images Cleanup Thread: [crowner link]

%% Please don't change or remove without starting a new Image Pickin' thread.

It was actually an edit war so they are now suspended.
The only Awesome image I'd settle for The Super Mario Bros. Movie is the money shot of Mario and Luigi charging at the horde, and that'd require DVD/Blu-Ray quality.
Also, as the one who added Funny.Konosuba many years ago, I added it without captions and I still find it funny without captions. The only alternative I can think of is Aqua throwing a tantrum and flailing around on the ground in Season 2, because that shot of Aqua's freaked out face is as much meme material as Aqua's sobbing face.
On Tearjerker.Ace Combat 7 Skies Unknown:
- The picture comes from a news magazine in the epilogue, far, far later than the mission where the quote in the caption shows up. Without context, the shot of Harling on the newspaper literally evokes no emotion from me. Personally, the only fitting images for Tearjerker in that game would be shots of Princess Cossette's sad and despairing face, and even then, it's a stretch.

"They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom PainThe Awesome page for Alien 1979 feels too much of a JFAAC
Bumping this post for the next crowner:
On Funny. The Legend Of Heroes Trails Of Cold Steel, I made a now-closed thread that the image is poor. Not only is it just a screenshot, the text is barely legible and I don't really find it funny.
Any thoughts on it?
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AThat's pretty bad. I vote to pull it.
Should we swap in a new crowner?
They're made when we're both in the mood and have time, and I'm not currently in that sweet spot. To speed up the crowner creation process one can always compile options in a post and holler so another mod can make it.
By my count, starting from where the last crowner left off, next up is the suggestions up to TearJerker.Ace Attorney Investigations Miles Edgeworth in this post.

Baby Driver is in the post just before that one, but not the crowner.

For the record, I meant something like:
- Page 1: [[ link to image ]], reason
- Page 2: [[ link to image ]], reason
and so on. That way a mod who sees the holler can just copy paste these options into a crowner they build without having to trawl through the pages, even if they aren't frequently on Image Pickin'.
(This can be done for any thread, btw — see How Crowners Work)
My keep votes:
- Awesome.Sunshine: This looks cool.
- TearJerker.Ace Attorney Investigations Miles Edgeworth: "A character" is underselling it. That looks like a young, wounded child.
- NightmareFuel.Apollo Justice Ace Attorney: I agree with the previous comment that the framing is jarring.
- Funny.Ace Attorney Investigations Miles Edgeworth: Like I said previously, the format of the text is what makes it humorous. That is not the same thing as "may as well be text".
- TearJerker.Who Framed Roger Rabbit: I find this one clear.
- Heartwarming.Ace Attorney Investigations Miles Edgeworth: The sunlight streaming in behind him makes it look like a warm moment.
- NightmareFuel.ET The Extra Terrestrial: I think this just needs to not be windowboxed. ET is acknowledged in-universe to be a little freaky looking.
- Funny.Baby Driver: For the "keep with a closer crop" crew, here's that:

I admit, I was on mobile at the time, so I went with the faster option.
I don't think Funny.LA Noire is JAFAAC because you can make out that he's lifting some sort of skull thing, and the caption just helps. It does look a bit silly knowing that, but it might not be clear that he's performing. It could be an unironic scene w/o that context.
Keep votes:
- Already explained my Roger Rabbit keep.
- Nightmare Fuel ET, but maybe I'm biased cuz I think ET can be creepy to some viewers, especially early in the movie.
- I'll keep the Baby Driver one with the crop.
- Already explained the NF Apollo Justice keep.
- Miles Edgeworth Tearjerker for reasons explained above (she does look like a sad, hurt child).
Also can we please have clearer reasons than "just [description of the image]"? Because most of the time it's people completely misunderstanding what JAFAAC means and listing any scene that isn't immediately clear out of context, even if there's some clear indicator of the emotion the page is meant to evoke. Plus we get oversimplified comments like "Just a character crying" without considering other visual cues in a scene that can convey emotion. If it's unclear, just say it's unclear.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I mean, the "just crying" part isn't usually about the images being unclear, but rather because showing a sad character doesn't necessarily translate to something that makes the audience sad.
But yeah I'd appreciate better explanations as well. We also need to cut down on the cases of people bringing in things simply because they don't find them awesome/funny/scary/etc. These things are subjective and not everyone will react to the scene the same way.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessMy issue is when "just a character crying" actually isn't just a character crying, but I worry people get so used to that phrase that they apply it to any picture where a character is sad, even if there's other aspects of the photo (like mood lighting) that convey a tearjerking element. Same with Funny, where people will say "just [whatever's in the pic]" and sometimes it'll be a situation that does, actually, sound funny even out of context.
We gotta avoid an "actor garbage" / "plot happens" situation where we oversimplify things for the sake of sounding snappy, basically.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Awesome.Whatever Happened To Robot Jones: Reliant on the caption to explain what's awesome. Otherwise just looks like the characters being happy.
It's just Batman holding a goon with the scene quote as the caption.
The hero easily holding up a goon could be awesome but the scene is wayyyy too dark to notice anything.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.- TearJerker.Batman Forever: Shows dead bodies but not the sadness involved with their deaths.
- Funny.Batman Forever: JAFAAC
- NightmareFuel.Batman Forever: Too dark to make out what’s happening.
- Awesome.Batman Forever: The scene picture is more the aftermath of the awesome moment described in the caption (him making a dramatic entrance).

- Heartwarming.Superman The Movie: Just Superman smiling.
- Heartwarming.Dinosaur: Just two characters looking at each other.
- Heartwarming.GoldenEye: Just two characters looking at each other.
- Heartwarming. The Sixth Sense: Just four faces and a caption.
- Funny.The Sixth Sense: JAFAAC
- Heartwarming. The Greatest Freakout Ever: JAFAAC
- NightmareFuel. The Greatest Freakout Ever: JAFAAC
- Funny. The Greatest Freakout Ever: JAFAAC

TearJerker.House Of The Dragon is JAFAAC. In context the guy is sad, but in a screencap he just looks disaffected.
From NightmareFuel.The Velvet Underground
The image is decently creepy I guess. But it's very difficult to discern anything. The only thing that can be seen clearly is Nico in the background. Everything else is obscured by shadows.
