Never mind. I figured it out myself on how to upload a video example to TV Tropes. Speaking of which, am I allowed to upload other examples on other trope pages every now and then when I've uploaded another example?

You mean can you upload multiple videos for multiple tropes at a time? Yeah. I did that a few weeks ago.

Is it OK to list a video under multiple tropes by putting the other tropes under Media Sources? The video for Pillow Pistol does this. I'm asking because I'm curious whether this is standard procedure, accepted, or frowned upon?

Did we officially decide that's not allowed? I recall a lot of grumbling about it but can't remember if there was a ruling.

There's no consensus, AFAIK. I do think it's kind of a shady way to make a video apply to multiple tropes though, but it does prevent multiple redundant uploads...

Could the corset scene from Black Butler be uploaded as an example of Innocent Innuendo, or would it be too NSFW? Obviously I'd prefer a better quality version of that scene to upload than the one I linked.

Is the media source supposed to be blank while the video is under review? Because I could swear I added a source to the video I uploaded, but it's nowhere to be found.

Edit: Nvm, apparently not. That cog blends in too well with the thumbnail it chose.

I stumbled upon a Video Source subpage that was set as an index; I think I should make it not that, but wanted to make sure the ruling was formalized first.

Hm, Image Source and Quote Source are indices, aren't they? Would be consistent for Video Source... except, of course, that pages have exactly one image and quote, which doesn't follow for videos...

Still on the fence, honestly.

That's my concern. Hypothetically, if a particularly common trope was indexed under all its video sources, the number of indices would balloon really quickly.

I don't think we need such indexes. A video automatically appears under both the work and trope they belong to, so there is no need for additional manually maintained index pages to connect them.

Assuming, of course, that everything has its proper media sources attributed. Hasn't there been a recurring issue with one person uploading unattributed PAW Patrol videos?

I think the mods fixed the videos, the issue is that normal users can't and we don't even know who did the uploads.

I'd like to ask: do the file sizes of the videos matter? And would it not hurt or damage the video if I close the window when it still states "Uploaded X bytes of Y bytes"?

'Cuz I am, as of the moment of writing this comment, in the middle of uploading ~1.4 GB video example in High-Speed Battle, and closed the window when it stated that only somewhere about 10% (or maybe even 1%) of total bytes were uploaded.

I wouldn't risk closing the window, I think it screwed up my videos before. Still, 1.4 GB? What, have you recorded in 8K 120fps 32-bit color with 24-bit 192KHz sound? Because if the video's up to 150 seconds long, there's like no way it could be that large, the biggest I uploaded was like 50MB. I recommend looking for a compression program (edit: or yes, sometimes it's just some settings).

^Worse, it's 90 seconds long. And I used Fraps. Perhaps I shouldn't have selected that "Full size" option in video recording...

Now I feel like an idiot.

EDIT: Video was uploaded. As expected, it crashed. I'd like that video to be deleted. I still have it on my computer; I'll try to compress it to acceptable size and format, and then reupload it again, but in more acceptable form.

EDIT 2: I deleted the original crashed video and uploaded its successfully compressed version (41,4 MB size). Transcoding was successful, so now it's on the way to be approved.

So I intend to make some video examples from this video, and should I use similar videos in the future I would like to ask, does the doohickey at the top-right corner of the video (Youtube icon with the words Ejen Ali next to it) count as a watermark so therefore I can't use it?

First time trying to upload a video, so I'd like to be sure.

Edit: A video example of Powerpuff Girls has a semi-transparent Cartoon Network logo on its top-right, so I'll assume those kind of 'watermarks' are fine?

It's from a verified channel, so I'd treat it as a channel bug, which are allowed: see About Images and Copyright

Is using the F-word in a video against the rules? I'm asking because I was thinking of uploading a video which has some strong language (not overly much and justified for the trope in question), then I decided to ask before posting.

I have a video on my device that I wanna use for Instant Soprano, how do I upload it?

Either go to the edit screen and hit "upload video", or go directly to VideoExamples.Instant Soprano. Click the upload button on the screen you're taken to. Give it a name, description, and a media source, then wait a few minutes.

A while ago we found out that mods can't transfer videos from Getting Crap Past the Radar to Demographically Inappropriate Humour because the latter's title is too long. I've decided to get around this by downloading the videos and manually uploading them to DIH. The Rugrats and Paper Mario examples upload just fine, but the Sam and Max one keeps breaking.

It plays fine on my PC, and when I run mediainfo on it and the others, the only thing that's different is the duration. I don't suppose anybody has any idea what might be going wrong?
