I'd love to limit it, but we can't just decide to set one via a cleanup thread if one doesn't already exist. Having a change like that would need some sort of TRS or trope talk discussion. I only brought it up in case the examples might be considered a form of misuse nobody attempted to get rid of, but if that's not true...
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWhich do you suggest I make?
As this has becoming a recurring issue here and it's to point I really think we need a discussion.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I mean, you can't just "make" a TRS like you can make a trope talk thread, but if the change is substantial enough we would indeed need TRS. I say, trope talk first, and if there's interest (or if there's more issues presented), TRS is the next step.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessOh for TRS I wasn't going to just make it. I would have done a wick check first. But yeah let's start with trope talk.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Just making sure; I figured that's what you meant, but some people do seem to think that "making a TRS thread" takes five minutes
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessOh yeah no big deal. Anyway it's pretty late now in South Africa so I'll go to bed for now. I'll make it tomorrow after breakfast and link it here.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."FWIW if we're going to TRS OBC I'm 100% in favor. This trope gets misused badly and limiting it to media/media creators sounds like a good idea.
Miraculous — if you want to TRS this, I'd advise consulting How to Do a Wick Check and the TRS Queue, if you haven't already.
EDIT: I see that Trope Talk was discussed as being the first step—my bad. That obviously comes first.

TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI will say that BLFC is a good, well run and well regarded con that just happened to have an extremely disgusting incident attached to one year’s iteration that made people think it was Rainfurrest 2015 2.0, when it really wasn’t. The only reason that year’s event stood out and is particularly remembered is that one incident. Went ahead and created it.

Why waste time when you can see the last sunset last?OvershadowedByControversy.Video Games
- Mobile games as a whole are difficult to discuss in Western cultures without mentioning predatory monetization business practices that have left curious gamers frustrated when their ability to progress is tied to how much money they are willing to spend instead of how skilled they are. In their defense, mobile games are generally intended for audiences who don't think of video games as Serious Business and are willing to spend money to get ahead, Eastern cultures are used to this business model and see it as acceptable, and these kinds of predatory practices date all the way back to not-so-classic arcade games in the 1970s and 1980s; but mobile games ultimately fell victim to this in the West when the amount of money they make from the casual crowd and/or those who struggle with impulse spending caught the attention of big AAA publishers in the 2010snote , who began implementing Microtransactions and Loot Boxes in premium-priced $60–70 games—the latter of which has been linked to gambling by several sources—that sometimes affect gameplay, and making major announcements of mobile games at their fan conventions, even though convention attendees aren't the target audience for mobile games.
Can a concept really be OBC?
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!Plus I can think of several mobile games pretty popular with western audiences.
League of Legends, plants vs zombies, Genshin Inpact, etc.
Painting an entire device console like this just isn't true.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."About to put this up soon. Any last-minute changes?
- ThejetermanRBLX, also known as DoctorRofatnik, Punished Mephiles, Jadon Shedletsky and Arnold Castillo, used to be the owner of a popular Roblox Sonic fangame titled Sonic Eclipse Online. However, his reputation came crashing down when it was alleged that he was grooming a 12-year-old girl in 2020, not being helped by him taunting others for giving his game publicity for exposing his actions and admitting that he was only still developing it for the money. This not only resulted in his account being deleted alongside his failed attempts at ban evading, but the entire fangame was taken down by SEGA when a YouTube channel called People Make Games made a follow-up on their expose on Roblox. Eventually, he got arrested in May 2022. These days, it's hard to talk about him, or even the entire fangame without bringing up these.
Btw this one got added to the Video Game section.
- It’s hard to bring up Pokémon GO without discussions of the controversies associated with it, including developer Niantic’s early struggles with server overloads and crashes and people getting hurt playing the game and not paying attention to surroundings or trying to drive. Not to mention the game being played in inappropriate places and causing controversy or getting banned entirely and the people who sued Niantic for poke stops/gyms that brought players into private property and caused damage.
Isn't this game one of the most popular in the world? I doubt these are stuff that people will remember over you know the game itself.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Cut, your assessment is accurate Miraculous
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallIt was definitely a Stock Parody Joke but I think it's overcome that reputation since then?

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.OvershadowedByControversy.Web Original:
- ProJared (real name Jared Knabenbauer), a former member of ScrewAttack, was a popular videogame reviewer on par with Caddicarus, The Completionist and PeanutButterGamer, until his reputation soured overnight when his ex-wife Heidi O'Ferrall accused him of infidelity with Holly Conrad (which was soon speculated to be the reason behind her divorce from Ross O'Donovan from Game Grumps). There were also allegations that he had manipulated fans into giving him lewd photos for his private adult-only Tumblr page named Sin Jared, some of whom were underage at the time. Even after Jared published a video explaining his side of the story to defend himself from the accusations by showing receipts of conversations he had with some of the accusers, it's still a prominent part of his public image, especially to outsiders. Not helping was when he modeled a T-shirt designed by Holly proclaiming himself as "Cancelled", which many saw as embracing this reputation.
Regarding this situation, i feel like the last line involving the shirt is rather unnecessary, and it feels like it sways the writing towards him still considered cancelled.
Additionally, i also feel like the clearing up part could be expanded upon a bit better, cause it seems like it's rather vague.

Due to unfortunate events, i will continue to exist until further notice. (also i'm fluid now)The shirt sentence can probably be cut, we generally should stick to the biggest contributors to their controversial reputation and avoid List of Transgressions examples. I’m unsure what clearing up is necessary though. We don’t need the example to be super detailed.
I think I added the shirt thing a while ago because at the time it appeared to be capitalizing off the fact he had been OBC. Maybe it can be rewritten cuz the creator leaning into being "cancelled" as a bit feels like Something.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I can offer a bit of a rewrite, the initial part seems fine, but the shirt line i personally feel like it should be cut while clarifying that nowadays, he actually seems okay after all happenned (even including some of his fans who kinda did a 180 on him), but that the controversy is still mentioned nowadays.

Due to unfortunate events, i will continue to exist until further notice. (also i'm fluid now)Please do, it's a crucial function this thread serves.
Would Alien 3 count? I certainly never hear much about it other than its almost comically bleak Downer Beginning, with all the survivors of Aliens besides Ripley killed in a random accident as soon as the film starts. IIRC Sigourney Weaver herself has gone on record as saying she'd like it Ret-Gone'd and would be willing to come back for a hypothetical film that would do so.
That's not controversy because it's part of the work, is the thing
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse?Ah, gotcha.
It does however sound like a potential candidate for Audience-Alienating Ending.
So War is putting this up to limit it a good idea?
It would also cut the really of missions stuff like talking about real world dictators and age old tyrants or politicians.
