Ensure correct Media Categorization for Literature Works

There're a handful of works that are namespaced under Literature/ but is mainly, or solely, known in the West for its Anime adaptation. I understand there have been some confusion regarding their correct media categorization, as a few tropers considered the convention for Light Novels—i.e. Categorize as if it is Anime—would apply to these works as well.

I have confirmed with the Staff that Literature is Literature no matter what, which means:

  1. Its wicks should be categorized under Literature, not Anime, in trope pages, unless involving a trope that is impossible in Literature (Quivering Eyes comes to mind) and
  2. Any work subpages belongs to a Literature sub-index only', no double-listing (for example, character sheets should only be listed under Characters.Literature).

A potential list of affected works, identified by locating Literature/ works under Anime of the 2000s and Anime of the 2010s:

I'm pretty sure wicks should be directed to whichever page someone is referring to. If someone is talking about the anime, then it goes in the Anime section. If they're talking about the Light Novels, then the light novels. Literature is Literature no matter what, but that doesn't mean the anime doesn't exist. This is important in case there's an eventual split and an anime and a light novel are given separate pages (it's basically no different than creating a Red Link for a work page that doesn't exist yet... we do it to make it easier if that page does get made in the future). There's nothing wrong with a work and its adaptation both appearing on a trope page.

Where's the discussion on this? I'd really like to see it.

This thread was mentioned in Ask The Tropers; I've commented there.

Well, it seemed like despite I get double confirmed re policy, it seemed to be a controversial issue. In any rate, I would also paste my statement on Ask The Tropers for posterity:

SamCurt speaking.

I have to say is I was originally flabbergested with this "Literature is Literature" thing when crazysamaritan told me in Reply #1154 of the Media Namespaces thread; it was he who encouraged to file this project in mid-December—and I only filed it now only after confirming with Willbyr on PM, who didn't appear to have a problem with it.

As such, if that actually originates actually from somebody's wrong grasp of policy, I'm extremely willing to backtrack.

The same could be said of some works in the Literature namespace but the Web Original folder on most trope pages, e.g. Worm.

Read your reply on Ask The Tropers. Do you imply all works listed under Web Serial Novels are affected with this problem?
