This thread is a metathread for Trope Repair Shop discussion. Things like TRS policy, what is needed in a TRS opening post, questions about whether a certain topic is TRS-worthy and questions about why a thread wasn't opened go here.
Some guidelines for when/whether to use TRS:
- If the trope is fine, but has some bad examples, feel free to clean them up or to start a cleanup project at Projects: Short-Term. Trope Repair Shop is for when cleaning isn't sufficient.
- If you think there's something wrong with the trope that systematically attracts improper examples, start a discussion at Trope Talk. Use a Wick Check to see whether there's an issue present (and if there is, what the issue is), and post the results on TRS Queue and wait your turn if a problem is present. The following methods are two possible ways to do a wick check (though not necessarily the only ways):
- You can go ahead with the Wick Check without a discussion if you know what you're looking for. While it's not mandatory, feel free to ask someone for help confirming that you got the issue and the numbers correct.
- Consult the Wick Check Project thread to collect evidence if you need help.
- If a wick check is too much for you, you can leave the issue at Tropes Needing TRS citing the discussion.
- Depending on a trope (or non-trope) in question, a wick check may be determined to not be required, such as for tropes that are not thriving (per the standards for trope health listed on the Wick page). However, there is no problem if you want to do one anyway.

I don't know what you mean by stepping on my toes; I never wanted Dumb Dodo Bird's dewicking project to be a one-man effort, and I'm glad that someone else picked up where I left off. I'm actually surprised it took as long as it did for someone other than me to help out, considering the fact that TRS activity has increased since I first became active on TRS in 2017.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I meant something more along the lines of "I don't want to cutlist these two pages in case you were still using them for something," or "I don't necessarily know what all you have and haven't already done, so I won't declare this done just yet."
Ah, OK. I wasn't sure.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Heads up everyone, another slot opened up!
Sorry to unload a lot of notifiers at once but ~Midna, you got another chance!

TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI'd like a clarification on what High Concept is about, because I don't get it.
1. There's just one plotline with no deviations or twists, it's more about "how it happened".
2. The work title is self-explanatory or summarized by Tagline or Word of God.
3. A character puts Lampshade Hanging on their journey.
4. It's basically Laconic Wiki moved to Examples section.
Because just looking at High Concept page's examples make it look like it's #4. I can make a Wick Check sandbox for Misuse, but can't tell what's the intended use from the description.

TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupHigh concept is essentially when the premise of the work is easy to pitch without it blending into other shows of its genre. It's not the characters or worldbuilding or anything you're selling, it's the very premise itself. But I don't know if any of those "X Meets Y" examples truly count.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. The problem is that "easy to pitch" is subjective and can be done to literally every work if one tried, we already have an entire sub-wiki for fan-sumbitted summaries. I'd like it to be restricted to quotations only to avoid these ZCE (X Meets Y, Recycled In Space), but first I want to know what "the premise is easy to summarize" even means.

TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupFrom mew's explanation, High Concept sounds more like a Trivia. For it to objectively exist, a creator had to pitch it. Otherwise, it's viewers writing pared-down laconics.
Er... wouldn't this discussion regarding High Concept's definition be better suited to Trope Talk?

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Well this sub-forum is linked from The Trope Repair Shop on Trope Talk, so...
If you mean this guide, I'd like to, but double-checking if I should open a thread for Misused.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupHow do you know what counts as misuse if you don't know what counts as proper usage? That's why I suggested Trope Talk. I personally don't want a High Concept thread to end up like the recent ones for Were Still Relevant Dammit and Hate Sink, and while I can't speak for anyone else, I wouldn't be surprised if others feel the same about threads that end up like those two.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Which one, Ask The Tropers? I shall gladly move there, I just saw "All-Purpose discussion" more fitting since I had an "all-purpose question".
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupNo, not Ask The Tropers. I suggested moving it to Trope Talk.
Edit: Link to that forum.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Midna made a Gorn thread, but there's no wick check. Is one needed, since there was already discussion in this thread? Previous threads like the one for Snark Bait were approved based on preexisting discussion.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Even if we already agreed on what to do with Gorn, there needs to be ample proof that people are using this trope to gush about gore.
Re: Gorn
A wick check may help, yes.
Edit: Opened with a clock. Prepare to check 61 wicks (square root of the total wick count).

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportI'll get the proceedings started: Gorn Wick Check
I've already got a list of randomized links and I've started pulling examples, really the main thing I might need a second opinion on is sorting them.
I’m on mobile right now so I can’t help now, but I will try to assist later.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallAlright, I'm back at home. I'll see what I can do.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallTheme Tune Cameo's thread is cleared away, so now's a good time to claim the open slot.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportShould we bring Hate Sink back to the TRS? We came up with several solutions in the hate sink discussion thread and some were met with support. I'd love to make a thread about it myself, but I'm busy for the time being.
Good timing. We just opened up a slot.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportYeah, we should.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Pureness
Okay, now's your chance, ~Midna. We got a slot freed up.
