This thread is a metathread for Trope Repair Shop discussion. Things like TRS policy, what is needed in a TRS opening post, questions about whether a certain topic is TRS-worthy and questions about why a thread wasn't opened go here.
Some guidelines for when/whether to use TRS:
- If the trope is fine, but has some bad examples, feel free to clean them up or to start a cleanup project at Projects: Short-Term
. Trope Repair Shop is for when cleaning isn't sufficient.
- If you think there's something wrong with the trope that systematically attracts improper examples, start a discussion at Trope Talk. Use a Wick Check to see whether there's an issue present (and if there is, what the issue is), and post the results on TRS Queue and wait your turn if a problem is present. The following methods are two possible ways to do a wick check (though not necessarily the only ways):
- You can go ahead with the Wick Check without a discussion if you know what you're looking for. While it's not mandatory, feel free to ask someone for help confirming that you got the issue and the numbers correct.
- Consult the Wick Check Project thread to collect evidence if you need help.
- If a wick check is too much for you, you can leave the issue at Tropes Needing TRS citing the discussion.
- Depending on a trope (or non-trope) in question, a wick check may be determined to not be required, such as for tropes that are not thriving (per the standards for trope health listed on the Wick page). However, there is no problem if you want to do one anyway.

I decided to keep doing weekly/monthly counts of closed threads, a thing I started doing last year (Last yr we avg 7 threads a week, 29 a month).
wanted to point out that this past week (Apr. 2 - Apr. 8) had the highest thread close count in over a year with 18 (not counting the duped thread). Found Protective Pressure today while looking through an index. Launched 2010, 10 wicks, 19 with possible crosswicking if my counting is right (including indexes and so on). The description is also quite barebones, and TBH I'm not 100% sure what it's trying to describe (though that could just be me). Not Thriving candidate?

Berserk Button: misusing Berserk Button
I just have a few wicks left before I am finished with my Sandbox.Easily Forgiven Wick Check, and as expected, it is not looking good. Out of 79 wicks so far, only 8 describe objective/in-universe judgements. Every other one in some way involves the audience or troper passing judgement that a character was forgiven too easily. Permission to add to the queue once I get the last 6 wicks (which should take at most 10 minutes)?

We used to have a trope called Insane Forgiveness that was determined to be a duplicate of Easily Forgiven that had the additional trait of complaining about the examples (thus, it was The Same, but More), so I can't help but wonder if the former's TRS thread affected the state of the latter.

Thinking of taking Mix And Match to TRS to change the namespace to Just for Fun for the following reasons:
- All on-page examples are just "A concept + B concept +... = Z work", which is barebones context at best.
- A quick check of off-page examples reveals variance from the above format to "character is a combination of these two things" to misuse for X Meets Y to "thing can be a mix of multiple components".
- The tropes listed in the "See also" section (X Meets Y, Recycled In Space) are already in Just for Fun.
How would I go about preparing for a namespace change TRS?

Is the Megalodon wick check (here) considered sufficient? It's been raised before that the wicks weren't checked in the expected way, but I don't know how big of an issue that is to raise. It's almost at the top of the queue, so a final judgement before it becomes a thread would be most ideal.

I don't see an actual wick check on the sandbox. There's an example check, an analysis on what type of wicks is being linked and a list of non crosswicked examples.

Honestly? I've tried. Repeatedly. I read the "problem" listing and came up with a solution for it based on previous similar situations. But no matter what I try to do for a wick check (and the way my brain is wired, I literally can't do random checks, so I checked everything outside the "moments" and "sandbox" pages), it just doesn't satisfy anyone who looks at it, and they won't explain exactly what I'm doing wrong in a way that makes sense to me. Even when I've asked for clarification, and when I've included a list of non-crosswicked examples with comments next to as many of them as I could, based on the initial issue presented.
This is the first time I've tried doing a wick check for a TRS topic, and at this point, I really don't know what else I can do.

~Anon e Mouse Jr. Would it be useful if I gave you a set of fifty more-or-less randomized Megalodon wicks to analyze? I won't be able to do so for a couple hours, but I've got a personal system devised based on the random list generator method that some folks on here use. All that needs to be done after the wicks are chosen is nab the corresponding text on each page and analyze away.

Quick thoughts before I queue up Game Gourmet? Sandbox.Game Gourmet Wick Check
I came into the check with the idea that the trope was primarily chairs and came out with about 26% of examples that literally were just ZCE/food lists and not much else. Primary issue I'm actually seeing is that more than half the wicks are mostly redundant with other video game food tropes. It just seems a bit silly to me to have to call out 30 varieties of Hyperactive Metabolism in a separate trope when those could just be under Hyperactive Metabolism instead.

this is my first time doing a TRS, could you explain how I link a wick to the page and especially how I include links to every page checked in the wick check so other people can check my work without clogging up the main page? I'm told you have to do this for every wick check but every wick check I've seen hides it well enough that I can't find these links.
