Acronym and Abbreviation Overload is absolutely unreadable and does not use the "(Anime & Manga)" style after the self demonstrating.
It's also just picking random letters to use as abbreviations. Some make sense, others don't.
The ones with the real names after in paranthesis only work if the previous text is less than about two words with compact folders, otherwise they're too long. Otherwise I pretty much agree with the previous list.
Check out my fanfiction! My thoughts on the pages currently listed under "Borderline":
- Colon Cancer: The folder names seem uniform enough to read without much trouble, but they're too long. Unless someone can come up with a much shorter way to rename them according to the gimmick, I'd say it's best to just dump the self-demonstration here.
- Leet Lingo: The normal folder names are included, so unless there's a problem with length for compact folders, I'd say it's about the same as Gratuitous Japanese.
- Cluster F-Bomb: I hate the gimmick in general, but I suppose moving the F bombs to the same place in each folder name—the beginning—might help. I would question just how "witty" they would be at that point, though.
- Canis Latinicus: Ugh, that's ugly and obfuscating. It even renders Ctrl+F useless. I vote to torch the self-demonstration here.
- The Case of...: Like Cluster F-Bomb, the names could be made more uniform, but I'm not sure the gimmick would be worth keeping at that point.
- Gratuitous Languages: Just add the normal folder names if they don't already have them. A simple fix.
- Captain Obvious: Dumb but not confusing. The folders put the normal names first, and the subpage names are lengthened in a perfectly uniform way, lining up the actual media in a nice, neat column. Again, however, I have to question just how much "wit" the gimmick is adding.
- Character Name Limits: As an alternative, perhaps we could just use the normal folder names and lop a letter or two off the end of each one?
- Sound-Effect Bleep: Same as Cluster F-Bomb and its ilk.
- Pig Latin: Not sure on this one. Rewriting isn't really an option, so we either keep it or torch it.
- Talk Like a Pirate: Crosses the line as it is, I'd say. A couple of the media might make for convenient use of a simpler "Arrr" gimmick, but certainly not all of them.
- Freudian Slip: About the same as the current Talk Like a Pirate, I'd say.
- Freudian Slippery Slope: Even worse than the above. Ugh.
No Budget seems to be Character Name Limits but worse re:folder names.

Not right away, not right awayJesus Christ, those are both awful. Anyone not reasonably familiar with the site and usual folder titles would have no idea what they were looking at. Even I took almost fifteen seconds to figure out what "PRN MDA" was supposed to be. I sat here thinking, "I thought porn wasn't allowed."
EDIT: Also, off topic, but... "Game Show Ports" as a folder? Really? With one first-level bullet? On a list divided between Video Game and Non-Video Game examples, and the only other Video Game section is "RPG"? Whoever did that deserves a gold medal and a hot french fry in their eye.

So we can see more then a few of these are failing on basic clarity for the folders alone, the question is what do you folks want to do if anything about it?
Who watches the watchmen?Clarify. And I'd rather clarify too much than too little, if there's contention.
Check out my fanfiction! So what do you mean by clarify namely how would you suggest we achieve that?
My personal take on this situation is this. Like any of the other fun things they should be left under just for fun section while the main page sticks to the general editing style of the wiki at large. To me it is not any more clear then the folders stating as simply as possible what their contents are. Ie Literature, Anime and Manga, Film, Live Action etc. They work both because of their simplicity and pretty much Exactly What It Says on the Tin.

Who watches the watchmen? Some should just be deleted and use standard names. Some can maybe be rewritten so that they still retain the joke, but are more clear.
I also wonder if it wouldn't look entirely horrible if you had the paranthesis with the proper folder name first, and then have the longer joke title. That would solve just about any problems with them, compact folders included, but probably looks awkward.
Check out my fanfiction!I decided to try that out on Gratuitous Spanish, but with parentheses around the alternate titles rather than the normal ones. How does it look?
A bit better. At least you can quickly tell what is on the folders. Some pages may need a bit more effort to clean up the folders though.
Who watches the watchmen?I like that.
Check out my fanfiction!Absent-Minded Professor is just horrid I mean holycrap most dont even directly state what the folder is.

My own rules for folders:
- 1: Name of medium must always be directly stated.
- 2: No folder title is two or more lines.
Well, should we at least get rid of the really bad ones? We all pretty much agree on the ones I listed under "Definitely Too Confusing" as well as Absent-Minded Professor, and No Budget. Any dissagreement? If not I'll go ahead and change those to normal
IMO the stuff like Blatant Lies could be reworded to be shorter but most of the others in that section can go.

If it's possible to reword them so they're not too long and include the actual name, sure, go for it. For compact folders you can usually see about 30 characters. Anything after that is chopped off.
Check out my fanfiction!I don't think we need to worry about 'compact folders' at all. As long as it is less than 2 lines and says the name of the folder in so many words it's fine.

What do you mean with "two lines"? As it shows on my screen, that's an awful lot of text. Far longer than any folder I've seen. And longer than this post. Or maybe as long.

Check out my fanfiction!Folders do a pagebreak around 35-40 characters depending on the spacing and the number of periods. So anything more than 70-80 characters IMO is too much.
Viewed the site on Vita, iPhone, Firefox and PS 3 and they all have the same character limits.

Which is still broken for people who have compact folders on. Well, if the real folder name is in the latter part of it.
And if I turn compact folders off, I get line breaks at twice what you've stated there. On Absent-Minded Professor, only two folder even break one line, and that's by one and three words respectively.
Honestly, if the real folder name isn't stated within two or three words, it's too late.
Check out my fanfiction!Compact folders might need some new code then, a way to alt title just for it. Other than that really just 2 lines is good enough IMO.
That's just ignoring a problem. I'd rather have all "funny" folder names removed, than some arbitrary count that won't solve the problem anyway.
Anyone else have an opinion before we start fixing at least the ones that are really bad?
Check out my fanfiction!Too late, I already started.
Reverted to standard folders:
- Could Say It, But...
- Buffy Speak
- Suspiciously Specific Denial
- Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!
- What Did I Do Last Night?
- Blatant Lies
- Absent-Minded Professor
- …But He Sounds Handsome
did other stuff with
- Antiquated Linguistics- is in TRS for being too self demonstrating, so i left it alone
- Bad Liar- someone said this could be saved, right?
- Better Than It Sounds: since it is Just for Fun I added the standard titles to the begining of the
Oh, you might want to add some [==] markup so that you're not linking to GratuitousJapanese.Gratuitous Italian :p
EDIT: And GratuitousGerman.Gratuitous Spanish, lol.
