Inspired by this thread, I've noticed that this wiki doesn't have a dedicated cleanup thread for negativity.
As we all know, Complaining About Shows You Don't Like, Creator Bashing and other negativity isn't desired on the wiki, except in a few selected areas like reviews and several Darth Wiki pages (and even then, with limitations). And yet, it's one of the most common sins wiki contributors can make.
So, if you find a page, TLP or discussion whose content seems like a straight-up insult or any other bitching - including complainy soapboxing -, you might ask here for help with removing said content.
The sandbox for this project is located at Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining.

Well, to start out, we don't list reception in the description per How to Create a Work's Page:
I think the reviewer links in the description are a form of mentioning the reception. They can probably go.

TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallOkay, and how about the entries that are just there to snark, nitpick, bash or complain?
These can be removed as well, esp the "and it is awful" part. We don't care about troper's opinions on Prince's associates.
Did so. Thanks!
I found what appears to be bashing on a Japanese rock star in Love And Peace.
- Take That!: Rock star Ryoichi's behavior, attitude and gesture might be one to GACKT's Drama Queen mannerisms.

“What is that? It's The Unknown!”Maybe cut it, since it seems a bit bashy?
Ok thank you , I will.

“What is that? It's The Unknown!”Though the page itself notes that being on a certain scale doesn't make a story inherently good or bad, Sliding Scale of Alternate History Plausibility has many entries that still judge how good an Alternate History is on its plausibility, with both complaining and gushing. (There's also general problems of natter and ZCE that come about because of this). Some examples:
- The What If? series of books where professional historians analyze some counter-factual scenarios (though there are some fans who question their conclusions, placing some contributions arguably in Type II).
- The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon. On the Soft side of Type I, but still very well put together.
- The Chaos Timeline. The butterfly effect is handwaved ("after a certain point, the same individuals won't occur as in our history, but we may coincidentally get similar people anyway"), and while the writer does his research and homework, he often makes assumptions that get him where he wants to go. For example, he wants a world war to occur, but the Great Powers are headquartered in different parts of the world and any conflict between land powers would be laughably one-sided; thus, the naval development of the world is far in advance of our own World War II, allowing for the naval movement of millions of men all around the globe.
- In defense of the author of said TL, however, it can be quite plausibly argued that allowing the existence of people similar to OTL is not necessarily, by itself, handwaving the butterfly effect, and in some cases, may actually be *more* plausible than total butterflies, depending on the scenario.

Maybe cut the bolded parts?
Cut the bolded parts, comment out The Yiddish Policemen’s Union since it's a ZCE.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Removed a bit of complaining on ThatOneSidequest.Final Fantasy. I was focusing on TRS work, so there may be more left unchecked.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportBile Fascination has a ton of complaining on it, and I have a feeling some of the wicks aren't much better. I am aware that some of this is due to my failed (and quite frankly not very good) TRS on it. Regardless, I am considering starting a cleanup thread in Short-Term for it and its wicks since I don't think we can, or should, TRS it again.
Does Bile Fascination need its own thread, or can this thread deal with it?
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallMaybe it's own thread.
Thread seems fine. IDK what TRS would do, since we couldn't find a TRS solution before.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessHere's this from Unforgiven Wrestling:
- Epic Fail: The "Kennel From Hell" match between Big Boss Man and Al Snow in 1999. They fought in a Hell in a Cell with a regular steel cage inside, with "vicious attack dogs" between the two cages. Unfortunately, they completely forgot to get vicious attack dogs. The dogs completely ignored the two combatants and started peeing, pooping, and even mating around the ring. The actual match sucked as well.
Should it get cleaned up or cut?
Epic Fail is NRLEP, and while I know wrestling runs on Keyfabe, that seems unscripted and thus real-life.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSo... cut it?
YMMV.Elemental Goddess contains both complaining and needless reviewer references. Putting this here mainly to remind myself to look at it later after finding it while cleaning Shocking Swerve wicks.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallYes. It might qualify for So Bad, It's Good or Never Work with Children or Animals, but that would need input from someone in the know.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years. This entry for the Inheritance Cycle on Can't Argue with Elves is both nattery and unnecessarily snarky. I'm for removing all the bullet points after the main entry, personally, but the main entry itself also feels like it could be rewritten more neutrally. Thoughts?
- The Elves of Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Cycle. The protagonist Eragon, who lives with them for quite a while, doesn't seem to notice (and also becomes elven later on). The text makes it apparent that the elves are more in tune with nature, more logical, more attractive, more graceful, more physically capable, more intelligent, more magical, and even more sexually liberated than humans are. It runs so deep in this series that non-Elves will regularly point out their own inferiority to Elves (usually along the lines of "We're not as good as you elves at this, but we manage"). The Elf being spoken to always accepts this as indisputable fact, and never disagrees.
- The most amusing part being that the author wrote them as losing to even the simplest tactical maneuvers of the setting's various big bads, with the fact that they've been on the ropes for most of a Millenium at the beginning of the series and the evil empire doesn't even bother going after them until they get a pet (human) dragon-rider demonstrating pretty thoroughly that they've always been that straight-up outclassed by the humans.
- They also have a malfunctioning aristocracy with dark-ages quality of life, with the lower classes literally starving when Eragon finds them because 'in tune with nature' apparently doesn't translate to 'competent with agriculture'. The human empire, meanwhile, operates at about Renaissance level, with a functional middle class and plenty of excess food to the point that famine is a non-issue. Sure, the leadership is nuts, but actually less nuts than the prior dragon-riders.
- Paolini seemed to have written himself into a corner: if the elves are always right, and the elves say the gods don't exist, then how does the dwarf god exist? He actually showed up to a coronation when asked and gave their choice the thumbs-up.
- Paolini seems to actually realize how all this worked out around book three and a few characters actually do argue with the Elves, it just takes a while for him to get there.
I'd cut the bullet points, I don't think the core entry is too bad, personally
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse?I'll just remove the extra bullets points for now, then.
I have a question about this thread:
Are "look out for X page" posts allowed? I understand that linking another post on another site and just adding a "look out for X page" isn't helpful (since that happened once in here), but are "hey this recent controversy just happened, look out for complaining on X page" posts allowed? I assume that it's a case-by-case basis.
I asked this once and didn't really get an answer, so I figured I'd ask again. Thanks!
I need some help cleaning up Prince's Associates, mainly because the page seems to have been mostly written before Prince's death, when his behavior made him (and by extension, his "associates") a common target of mockery. So, as a result, it is very snarky and bashy.
Here's Carmen Electra's section for example.
Yes, Carmen Electra used to be a back-up dancer for Prince (in fact, he gave her the Stage Name "Carmen Electra") in the early nineties. She then became a rapper, contributing a rap to 'The Continental' on Prince's Love Symbol Album in 1992 and had a self-titled album produced by him in 1993 which was mostly written by Prince and the New power generation, though Carmen is credited with co-writing 7 of the 12 tracks. The album's famous for being... less than well received. A really funny skewering of it, complete with some audio samples, is available on I-Mockery.. Prince podcast Peach and Black also examined it as did [in a slightly more positive way] Ultimate Prince.com
Carmen Electra provides examples of:
What suggestions could I have to clean that up, for starters?
