This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

Do Villain Pedigree and Continuity Creep have effectively the same quote? Also, I'm not sure either demonstrate their ideas.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupIt is OK to have a quote by Adolf Hiter on the page for Written by the Winners?
New theme music also a boxDon't think it's a problem.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupThe page quote for Dirty Old Monk only has context for the trope with the accreditation. I think this one from the quote page is better. Thoughts?
Any other comments?
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse?New quote is more interesting to me.
Still need a little more consensus on my suggestion for Weapon-Based Characterization:

I like it Switched out the Dirty Old Monk quote
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse?Reposting this from the last page since it seems to have been missed:
Alrighty, I came here before for one Better Call Saul page, now I'm here with another - specifically, it's Nightmare Fuel page and it's Awesome Moments page. For NF, how's this one from Lalo Salamanca sound?
Meanwhile, for Awesome, I'm torn between two:
Jimmy McGill: Hey! I just talked you down from a death sentence to six months' probation. I'm the best lawyer ever.
Or, Nacho Varga's last words:
Thoughts for any of them?
That NF quote looks fine. How about the first one for Awesome? It's more demonstrable to anyone who doesn't know much, if anything, about the show. (I would be one of those.)

From over the page:
I agree. It would be better on Old Shame.
How about these from the Creator Backlash quotes page (which needs a massive clean-up):
I think the first one is the clearest. The second and third, while more succinct, doesn't really show that the quoted is the creator of the work, and requires additional information outside the quote itself to even tell us what the work being backlashed against is.
ETA: Looking through the Quotes/ subpage, I think this is also good:
I'm Sorry, now, I wrote it;
But I can tell you, Anyhow
I'll Kill you if you Quote it!"

Yeah, I saw that one, but I skipped over it because I'm not sure it's clear to people who don't know who Burgess was that it's definitely real rather than in-universe. Plus, it rests on people being familiar with the "Purple Cow" poem to understand that this quote is laid out and structured to mock the original poem.
So, I was wondering if it had a potential "Fan Myopia" issue associated with it, which is why I didn't suggest it. But, if other people think it does work, then I've got no problem with it.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Literature.Solomon Kane currently has this:
That feels a bit much? I'm wondering whether to trim it or cut it completely and replace. If we trim it, how about:
I don't have a problem with that.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Sorry to double-post. Chess with Death has both accuracy and formatting problems.
The above is how it appears. I believe the formatting problems are being caused by the use of the AC code to capitalise what Death is saying. Also, the original quote never directly refers to Death, so the actual quote should look like this:
The abbot waited to see what long-term, devious strategies were being evolved. Then his opponent tapped a piece with a bony finger.
REMIND ME AGAIN, he said, HOW THE LITTLE HORSE-SHAPED ONES MOVE.
We could change the first sentence to "[Death] looked long and hard at the board." if "The opponent" doesn't make it clear the opponent is Death. That's what the current quote is doing, but it's failed to clarify that the reference to Death there is a substitution of the original quote.
I'm not sure what to suggest about the AC formatting, beyond checking whether we're okay with the odd formatting, or whether we should use ordinary capitals.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.I like the Purple Cow quote for Creator Backlash; I think it's clear on its own, and knowing that the meter emulates the poem is a bonus.
See-Thru Specs came up in Trope Talk and I noticed its page quote doesn't actually demonstrate the trope (glasses that give the wearer True Sight). One possible replacement:

The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableCompany Cross References has a pothole and is entirely reliant on it and a note to explain the quote's relevance.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I'm not too fond of that quote, for the reasons you gave. I'm okay with just cutting it, since there's no quotes page to draw a replacement from.
I agree, that's cuttable.
yes agree! I've actually considered bringing that quote up a few times to recommend cutting it.
Okay, I've changed the Old Shame and Creator Backlash quotes. I've moved the old quote from CB to OS and moved the Purple Cow poem from the quotes page to the CB main page. I also agree with cutting the Company Cross References quote.
Is there any feedback on the Chess with Death formatting?

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Succession Crisis has an overly long top page quote.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"The Narrator doesn't add anything, I don't think - the verse is clear enough.
Any thoughts on my post about See-Thru Specs?
The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeable
to the suggested quote.
