So I've got two ideas for Silas in the work, as my other plans are on hold currently.

First one is a Delta Raid, only instead of a usual hideout, it's a bank vault, with the players dressing up in disguises (Suits and masks Payday style) since it's gonna be a highly illegal raid. Hence why Silas printed some new arms in the RP. It's a first come first serve sort of deal to prevent too many players from overcrowding the event.

Second one is sort of a mindscape/dreamscape deal where everyone goes into Silas's dreams and experiences SPACE and Arwings but dreams.

Just ideas currently if anyone is interested.

For a while, I've been working on a mini-arc with Corvus that's focused on investigating a mysterious rise in multi-pokemon swarm activity in the Unova Region, and I've reached a point where I may soon reveal more specific details about the causes behind it all, however I'm not sure what I have planned would be approved.

Specifically, I was planning to reveal that the cause behind all the increased swarm activity was a group of upstart radical psychics using various pokemon species as test subjects to create a hive mind of sorts (with mixed results). I was also planning to later reveal that they've already gone into the early stages of human testing, and are aspiring to become a potentially serious threat that calls themselves Team Unity. I just need to know: Would such a thing be considered too dark, contradictory to the RP's established canon, or otherwise unacceptable?

-taps dusty mic-

Yes hello, it is I, Phazya, and it's been way too long I've posted in Discussion.

Anyway, I came back here to present you not, one, not two, not four, but three new things that I've planned and want to put in action, on of it being:

Finally, Phazya does another arc: Time Shenanigans!

Now you're probably wondering what this OC name bears with. Well hold your Hipponytas, because here's the synopsis!

Phaz's Dad, Mickaël, is, unlike Phaz's Mom, a scientist in his heart, engineering robots and complex creations in his Kalos workshop. His surprise is immense when one day he finds in a Johto Pokemon Center an old and decayed Time Machine! Bringing it back in Kalos and repairing it, he decides that what better way to test it is to go in with a bunch of members of the J-Team? What Could Possibly Go Wrong??

With this saucy synopsis, here is also a new way of battling that will, if you come into that arc, probably appear, as well as a character sheet for Phaz's Dad!

Ride Hard! Jousting is coming!

Introducing Jousting, a different take on the Double Battle! When doing a Joust Battle, only two Pokemons are on the field, and one is the Ride for the Trainer! The goal of said fight is to make the enemy Trainer fall off of his Ride, by either making the Ride faint, or with other ways, while avoiding falling yourself! To do so, you have the Pokemon you ride, but also another Pokemon that will most likely act as your sword and shield! Of course, targetting the Trainer is still off-bounds!

Phaz's Dad Trainer Sheet!

Name: Mickaël Phaz, Mile for short.

Age: 45 years old

Gender: cis male

Ethnicity: Caucasian

Brief Description: A rather handsome man of 1.82m for 90kg, with rugged facial features and a bit of beard on the - ah, screw it, just look at this picture. Eyes are hazel, and the hair and beard are salt and pepper coloured. Wears contacts, albeit tend to forget them and instead use his glasses when not wielding or repairing stuff. Is usually seen in an heavily torn set of a tank top and jeans, theses having a kneepad on the right knee. Boots are Punk-styled ones, and almost always kept pristine clear and in excellent quality, the same goes for his gloves he's almost always wearing.

Organisation Ties: was at one point contacted by Team Flare, turned down the offer to work with them.

Region of Origin: Kalos, most specifically the South West coast.

Personality and Biography: Mickaël is a rather laid-back guy, working hard when needed, who married Phaz's mom and loves her. While he is indeed a pretty good robot creator, and gains quite a bit from that, it leaves him travelling quite a bit to present his creations himself, coming back from time to time at home for a month or two. He's absolutely passioned by robotics and cutting edge technology, as well as science-fiction, even starting his work in robotics because he "Wanted to build [his] own [Gundam]" (sic.). Coming with that, he shares Phaz's and Amélie's curiosity and creativity, approaching some problems by trying to think outside the box. Phaz's recents activities with the J-Team and his inclusion in makes him wonder: maybe he could stop fanboying on them and help them do stuff?

Pokémon Team

RX-78-2, nicknamed Rex, the Metagross

Gender: Agender, uses he/him pronouns.

Ability: Clear Body

Personality/Biography: While some Farfetch'd were out studying the Leek, Rex was the starter of Mickaël. Together, they didn't made it to any kind of competitive Pokemon battle, instead evolving together as they were working on more and more complex project. While he might seem a bit rusty in terms of Pokemon battles, he'll be more than happy to help for anything manual.

Euréka Danger, the Golurk

Gender: Agender, uses he/him pronouns.

Ability: No Guard

Personality/Biography: Euréka Danger is the second and only other Pokémon Mickaël ever got, as a gift from Coralie, Phaz's Mom. While at first living with him was a bit difficult, him needing to hatch and Mike... Not doing much steps, he just ended up doing some laps around a town in Kalos while riding Rex to finally hatch Euréka. But since then, Mike appreciate Euréka's help at the workshop, him being able to transport charges too heavy for Mickaël, or compress some garbage steel for later use. Other than that... Well, he seem to have a bit of narcolepsy going around, as, when Mickaël isn't working, he can be found napping anywhere.

What do you all think of this? Are you interested for that?

Yes, I meant Agender. Corrected this, thanks.

Also, I want to clarify that, while a Metagross and a Golurk seem to be strong Mons for an incoming new character to have from start, they’re special because they did not fully evolve by battling but by instead working and gaining experience like so. They barely have "battle experience", so technically they’d be low level, if that makes any sense.

Oh I don't think it's a problem for a character who's been raising Pokémon a while to come in with fully evolved mons. And the idea they're not as good in battle because they don't do it as much is cool.

Shutter's Backstory Characters

Here are a few of the background characters that emerged around Shutter. Three of them are tied, loosely or otherwise, to Shutter's workplace at the Geographic Society and were drawn from the signup scenario.

Hank Habakkuk Harvey

Ethnicity: Anglo North American

Age: 52

Gender: Male

Appearance: A grizzled and portly old man with a graying buzz-cut and a pencil moustache, often seen chomping on a cigarette. Wears suits.

Occupation: Senior Editor at the Geographic Society; Editor-in-Chief, Geographic Society Magazine (1999 - Present); News Editor, The Geographer Weekly (1990 - Present); Line Producer for the documentary series The Pokemon Trainer (2018 - Present)

Region of Origin: Castelia City, Unova

A magazine publisher by trade, he has since been put out of his element as he inches closer to retirement by being assigned to be one of the producers for the Geographic Society’s new documentary series, assigned mainly due to his long history in news coverage being useful in accruing information on the storied history of Pokemon trainers and their continuing impact on the world today. He is an outspoken man and a seasoned veteran in the news industry, part journalist and part pundit, with resolve of steel, though he does maintain enough humility to leave his subordinates to do their thing.

A former urban explorer, he has acquired a humble roster of Pokemon. His most trusted companion is a Gengar named Newsreel, acquired as a Gastly during his days as a field journalist in the 1980s. He has a fondness for root beer and a passionate hatred of lemons.

He is Shutter's immediate superior.

Thomas Andrew Petersen / TAP / "Little Tommy Petersen"

Ethnicity: Anglo North American

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Appearance: A seemingly lanky dorky young man who looks like he was cloned from a sarcastic Hollywood Nerd template, with a friendly face that makes you think "how is this good-looking guy an unpopular nerd" up until he opens his mouth. Dresses like a hipster.

Occupation: Photojournalist and documentary photographer, formerly pizza boy

Region of Origin: Castelia City, Unova

Awkward, Adorkable, and annoying are the three words that describe little Tommy Petersen. Described as a good kid who's not quite dependable, the young lad often geeks out at the slightest provocation, quoting and referencing movies from the 80s like clockwork. He is the only photographer in The Geographer Weekly to consistently deliver clear (and incidentally very flattering) photos of the elusive superhero Arachna-Guy. He seems to be an Arachna-Guy fanboy and speaks praises of him constantly, which grates on a lot of people.

He began his work in the Geographic Society as an intern and later took on a part-time staff job at the Geographer Weekly. Shutter had been tasked with introducing him to the ropes of the publishing industry and ended up befriending him. The two get along well and treat each other as friendly rivals.

Part of his interest in Arachna-Guy may stem from his fondness for arachnid Pokemon. His starter is a Spinarak, Tobi, rescued from a Best Berry subsidiary laboratory involved in illegal experiments, and had worked alongside Professor Conroy Hawthorn in raising Kabutos in a facility at Castelia City University. He lives with his Aunt April in Castelia.

Arachna-Guy

Ethnicity: ???

Age: Approx. Early 20s

Gender: Male

Appearance: A lean-built superhero who wears a uniform inspired by a specific color morph of Spinarak.

Occupation: Crime fighter, protector of the innocent, savior of those in danger

Region of Origin: First sightings were often around Unova, with confirmed photographs huddling around Castelia City's downtown area.

Once thought of as just another urban legend, Aracha-Guy is Unova's most popular superhero and an object of near-monomaniacal fascination by Hank Harvey, a staunch critic currently trying to produce a tell-all documentary about his presence in the city. Petersen has never directly observed him do any wrong to the city and his skyrocketing popularity among the police and the locals alike means that he is likely going to stay awhile.

Reynard Albright

Ethnicity: Mixed Anglo/Southern European

Age: 86

Gender: Male

Appearance: A clean-shaven, lean, and reasonably fit octogenarian man who frequently wears sweater vests.

Occupation: Marine biologist, former senior engineer to a chocolate factory

Region of Origin: Alto Mare; Currently resides in Kinkan City, North Mandarin Island, Orange Archipelago

A well-traveled old man, Shutter's grandfather first moved into the Orange Islands from Alto Mare as a teenage boy. There, he married and had children and grandchildren. Shutter is his oldest grandson, the first child of his second son Richard. Once the head of a chocolate factory, he spent his first years in retirement traveling with his wife, visiting far off places such as Castelia, Viridian, and Lumiose, and later took up Marine Biology.

He went out of retirement and works part time as a supervisor for a local aquarium that he helped found. Prior, he has acquired a modest number of water Pokemon, including a school of Wishiwashis that he still keeps today.

Shutter moved out of his grandfather's home several years prior. They mostly keep in touch through long-distance phone calls.

Since the chat brought up a lot of the issues concerning superhero work in the WAAPTverse, here's one dialogue I can imagine regarding Arachna-Guy's legal standing.

Shutter: Look, Tommy, I understand that you're a big fanboy of that guy and being able to get those shots is impressive and all, but see, Hank has a point. I understand he hasn't broken anything, but even the risk of destroying public and private property is still going to rustle a few jimmies. And you know how hard it is to pin down thugs like Giovanni; those creeps can sue. And don't get me started on how Lawrence III — Mr. Runaway Climate Change himself — still got away with a slap on the wrist. The man has an Imperapic for crying out loud!

What I'm saying, kid, is that we need process and accountability and all that stuff. That's the reason why Hank doesn't go all off the rails at those peeps sponsored by PEFE. That and he doesn't want to be sued. Yep, even Mr. I have [Pulitzer Analogue] fears the suits who sue. Yeah, go try that. Tell your Aunt April to stay fabulous. Take care of yourself, kid.

Tommy Petersen's proposed over-the-top backstory

Once upon a time, young orphan Tommy Petersen lived with his Aunt April and Uncle Ken after his father was killed by an ominous Team Rocket agent who was once tutored by his Uncle Ken. One day, when he was 15 and played hooky while on a field trip to a Best Berry facility, he discovered an elaborate and cruel Spinarak silk-harvesting scheme. Sensing "hey, free Pokemon," he stole an oddly colored Spinarak, which proceeded to bite him. This led to a contrived chain of events that would lead to Uncle Ken being killed by robbers who were watching a movie. As he lay dying, he told Tommy Petersen something he couldn't remember but involved responsibility and power somehow. He couldn't really tell because the Spinarak bite was acting up and Aunt April was crying, but what little he did remember was etched in his mind.

In grief, he buried himself in his chemistry textbooks and began reading his uncle's old comic books, becoming rather fixated with superheroes in the process. When the opportunity to get paid to take pictures of a mysterious vigilante came, he seized his chance. Also, he anonymously had the Spinarak ring busted.

And the he started sending hi-res images to Hank, who became fixated on finding the true motives of Castelia's new vigilante.

For future reference, so long as the following two criteria are met, I have no problems with new superheroes.

1) Any superpowers that can be used at will are based on the RP's pre-existing powers; like Aura, Obscura, Science, Weremon, Mew-granted, or a mon actually doing the power thing.

2) Science-based powers need a not-impossible-to-obtain weakness. (i.e. Don't make the weakness some signature move from a Legendary or some extinct mon or plant life)

If new supernatural powers are introduced, it is my opinion that they shouldn't be able to be used at while except under INCREDIBLY difficult to achieve circumstances and that a Legendary can nix with minimum effort. And this is before needing approval from a good portion of the player base.

Sooooooo, I'm looking at kind of a dumb idea just to RP some fun stuff with my characters, Hacks and Silas discover auric spectrum techniques such as mindscape diving and decide to invite some friends for a dreamscape dive just for fun.

So anyone up for that?

I mentioned it in the chat, but I've been considering working out a plot for a ~PMD ADVENTURE~ to happen whenever I flesh it out. I do want to gauge interest in the plot now, though, even though the plot still needs to be worked out. So who would be interested in getting involved?

I'm thinking I might want to limit it to a party of 6, plus the characters I contribute. I especially want to try to tailor the plot to the group that we gather for it, so that everyone is able to have an effect. As I said in the chat, I want it to be an opportunity for mon characters to shine without needing to rely on their trainers; for example, in addition to the six entry slots, I'm including Vo and Onabarrak in the party, without Kai.

So who's interested?

OPENINGS (CLOSED):

  • Vo (Delta Dunsparce)
  • Onabarrak (Golett)

  • (1) Jamie (Alolan Ninetales)
  • (2) Akim'bleer (Typhlosion)
  • (3) King (Buneary)
  • (4) Star (Staraptor)
  • (5) Masako (Glaceon)
  • (6) Julius (Stoutland)

Due to the small number of slots, I do want to ask that we try to limit it to one character per person. The only reason I want to keep it so small is because of my recent state of burnt-out-ness, and I want to try to avoid more of that.

If you don't get in this one, though, worry not! I am deeply considering this being part of a somewhat episodic series of plots, each with a different crew. If you miss your chance now, you may get in the next one!

Well I definitely need to work on giving my mons screentime (and plotting in general, but mon plots are an especially weak point of mine), so I'll throw an interest in there.

Haven't totally decided who I wanna put in yet though. Of the top of my head I might go with Genji or Stark, but I'll have to put some thought into what I want my mon to get out of the experience besides generic existence.
