New city. New godkid. Same old Cosmo and Wanda.

The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish is a 2024 animated fantasy comedy and Sequel Series to Butch Hartman’s seminal Nickelodeon comedy The Fairly OddParents!. It is developed by Daniel Abramovici, Ashleigh Crystal Hairston (Craig of the Creek), Lindsay Katai (Infinity Train), and Dave Stone (Wicked).

Having at long last parted ways with their beloved godchild Timmy Turner and spent the last 10,000 years in retirement, fairy godparents Cosmo (Daran Norris) and Wanda (Susanne Blakeslee) are dusting off their wands and returning to the modern day to grant the wishes of a new kid in need - 10-year-old Hazel Wells (Hairston). Hazel’s just moved to the bustling city of Dimmadelphia with her family and is coping with her brother Antony leaving for college, so she could really use a friend… or a pair of fairy godparents to grant her every wish and make everyday a blend of magic and chaos. The series will premiere on Nick in the US on May 20, 2024. Internationally, the series will stream on Netflix.

Previews: Trailer

The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish includes examples of the following:

  • Affirmative-Action Legacy: As the trailer shows, Cosmo and Wanda’s first godchild after the Caucasian male Timmy Turner is the African-American female Hazel Wells.
  • Art-Shifted Sequel: The trailer presents this take on the franchise as CGI, rather than 2D.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: In series tradition, the trailer sees Hazel wishing to fly… and then crashing a flying cardboard box.
  • Childish Tooth Gap: To contrast with Timmy’s buck teeth, Hazel is shown in the trailer to have a gap in between her front teeth.
  • Costume Evolution: Wanda’s simple yellow shirt from the original series is now a button-up shirt with a frilly collar, as seen in the trailer.
  • Painted CGI: The trailer presents the series in CGI, albeit rendered to look similar to the original series.
